This new route will increase connectivity between both countries, offering an economical option for travelers.
The airline will start the Santo Domingo/SDQ—Havana/HAV route with two weekly frequencies (2Frq/S) using Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft, with capacity for 186 passengers. With this authorization, Arajet seeks to consolidate its presence in the regional market, offering affordable flights and expanding its network of destinations in the Caribbean. Aerolínea regional chilena inaugura ruta Punta Arenas—Puerto Williams
La aerolínea chilena Aerovías DAP ha anunciado el Viernes 6 de Septiembre de 2024 la incorporación de una nueva aeronave De Havilland DHC-8-Q400, realizando el primer vuelo oficial de su nuevo avión turboprop, conectando Punta Arenas/PUQ—Puerto Williams/WPU en Chile. La aeronave despegó pasadas las 13:00 horas con pasajeros habituales y algunos invitados especiales, aterrizando sin inconvenientes en la capital de la Provincia Antártica tras un vuelo de 45 minutos.
El Dash 8-Q400, presentado por la aerolínea el pasado 15 de Julio de 2024 en el Aeropuerto Presidente Carlos Ibáñez del Campo, cuenta con una capacidad para 74 pasajeros. Su incorporación a la flota de DAP busca mejorar la conectividad y el servicio en la región de Magallanes, especialmente en rutas con orografía desafiante y aeropuertos con infraestructura limitada, gracias a su capacidad para operar en pistas cortas de al menos 1.000 metros.
Aerovías DAP compone una flota de 32 aeronaves, con 14 de mediano porte, realizando vuelos regulares, chárter y sanitarios, y es una pieza clave en la conectividad de Magallanes, con operaciones hacia la Antártica y otras rutas como Porvenir, Pampa Guanaco y Balmaceda.

The Chilean airline Aerovías DAP has announced on Friday, September 6, 2024, the incorporation of a new De Havilland DHC-8-Q400 aircraft, making the first official flight of its new turboprop aircraft, connecting Punta Arenas/PUQ—Puerto Williams/WPU in Chile. The aircraft took off after 1:00 p.m. with regular passengers and some special guests, landing without incident in the capital of the Antarctic Province after a 45-minute flight.
The Dash 8-Q400, presented by the airline on July 15, 2024, at the Presidente Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Airport, has a capacity for 74 passengers. Its incorporation into the DAP fleet seeks to improve connectivity and service in the Magallanes region, especially on routes with challenging orography and airports with limited infrastructure, thanks to its ability to operate on short runways of at least 1,000 meters.

As fall is on the horizon, American Airlines is preparing to bring more travelers to Europe next summer with five new routes. As the airline continues to grow its transatlantic service, American will resume flights to Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI), for the first time since 2019 and add new routes to Athens, Greece (ATH); Madrid (MAD); Milan (MXP) and Rome (FCO). Tickets will be available for purchase beginning September 9, 2024 at aa.com and on the American mobile app.

La aerolínea británica Virgin Atlantic Airways ha anunciado el lanzamiento inaugural del destino Riad, Arabia Saudita, a partir del 30 de Marzo de 2025, con un servicio diario operado por los aviones A330neo. La ruta directa London/Heathrow/LHR—Riyadh/RUH con número de vuelo VS242 partirá de Heathrow a las 14:45 y llegará a Riyadh a las 23:35, y el tramo de regreso VS243 saldrá de la capital de Arabia Saudita a las 01:25 y aterrizará de regreso a Londres a las 07:00.
Virgin Atlantic se unirá a British Airways y Saudia Airlines en la ruta Heathrow—Riyadh. Saudia y Virgin son miembros de la Alianza SkyTeam, permitiendo conexiones a destinos como Islamabad, Lahore y Karachi.
Más destinos Virgin Atlantic también ha anunciado planes para regresar a Accra después de más de una década. Virgin Atlantic launches Saudi Arabia route
British carrier Virgin Atlantic Airways has announced the inaugural launch of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 30 March 2025, with a daily service operated by A330neo aircraft. The direct London/Heathrow/LHR—Riyadh/RUH route with flight number VS242 will depart Heathrow at 14:45 and arrive in Riyadh at 23:35, and the return leg VS243 will depart the Saudi Arabian capital at 01:25 and land back in London at 07:00.
Virgin Atlantic will join British Airways and Saudia Airlines on the Heathrow—Riyadh route. Saudia and Virgin are members of the SkyTeam Alliance, allowing connections to destinations such as Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.
More destinations Virgin Atlantic has also announced plans to return to Accra after more than a decade. The airline first launched flights to the Ghanaian capital in May 2010, but suspended the route three years later citing exceptionally high fuel costs in Ghana. The service will launch on 1 May 2025 with daily frequencies and will be operated by the airline’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Flight VS403 will depart Heathrow at 22:30, arriving in Accra at 05:00 the following day, with the return leg VS404 departing Accra at 09:15 and landing back in London at 17:25.
The airline will compete with British Airways on the route which has recently added flights between Gatwick and Accra, complementing its existing London/Heathrow service.
Both the Riyadh and Accra routes will go on sale on 12 September 2024. The route additions follow Virgin’s plans to resume flights to Canada next year in 2025, however the airline is scheduled to discontinue its long-standing route to Shanghai on 10/2024.

Vuelos nocturnos de cabotaje en Aerolíneas Argentinas
Aerolíneas Argentinas ha anunciado la presentación de vuelos nocturnos en servicios de cabotaje. Tras la participación del Travel Sale 2024 en Argentina, en el que Aerolíneas Argentinas participó con propuestas de financiación para la compra de pasajes aéreos, ahora lanza vuelos nocturnos con tarifas Súper Promo. Esta iniciativa similar a la banda negativa que se podía conseguir en la década del 90, tiene como objetivo ofrecer mejores alternativas de viaje a sus pasajeros.
La propuesta estará disponible para volar a partir del 31 de Octubre de 2024 donde los pasajeros podrán elegir vuelos en la franja horaria entre las 23:00 y las 03:00 horas de la mañana hacia y desde cinco destinos nacionales: Bariloche, Iguazú, Salta, Trelew, Comodoro Rivadavia. Los vuelos salen y regresan al Aeropuerto Buenos Aires/Jorge Newbery (AEP). Cada una de estos destinos ofrecerá un vuelo diario bajo modalidad promocional, con ida y vuelta al Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
«Estos vuelos nocturnos están diseñados para brindar una alternativa conveniente y económica para quienes cuentan con flexibilidad en sus horarios de viaje. Las tarifas para estos vuelos serán altamente competitivas, particularmente para quienes opten por planificar sus viajes con tiempo y realicen compras anticipadas», señala Aerolíneas Argentinas en su comunicado.
Los pasajes aéreos con la tarifa nocturna Súper Promo varían según el destino: Las rutas a Iguazú y Bariloche costarán desde AR$ 17.560, por tramo y sin impuestos. Para Salta y Trelew los pasajes partirán desde AR$ 21.670. En el caso de Comodoro Rivadavia, habrá pasajes aéreos a partir de AR$ 37.760 Pesos.

Aerolíneas Argentinas has announced the introduction of night flights in domestic services. After participating in the Travel Sale 2024 in Argentina, in which Aerolíneas Argentinas participated with financing proposals for the purchase of airline tickets, it is now launching night flights with Super Promo fares. This initiative, similar to the negative band that could be obtained in the 1990s, aims to offer better travel alternatives to its passengers.
The proposal will be available to fly from October 31, 2024, where passengers will be able to choose flights in the time slot between 11:00 p.m. and 03:00 a.m. to and from five national destinations: Bariloche, Iguazú, Salta, Trelew, Comodoro Rivadavia. The flights depart and return to Buenos Aires/Jorge Newbery Airport (AEP). Each of these destinations will offer a daily promotional flight, with a round trip to Jorge Newbery Airport in Buenos Aires.
«These night flights are designed to provide a convenient and economical alternative for those who have flexibility in their travel schedules. The fares for these flights will be highly competitive, particularly for those who choose to plan their trips in advance and make advance purchases», says Aerolíneas Argentinas in its statement.
Airfares with the Super Promo night fare vary according to the destination: Routes to Iguazú and Bariloche will cost from AR$ 17,560, per leg and without taxes. Flybondi comenzó a volar a destino San Juan Primera aerolínea low cost Provincia de San Juan
Flybondi realizó su vuelo inaugural hacia destino San Juan el 2 de Septiembre de 2024. El vuelo inaugural partió desde Buenos Aires/Jorge Newbery/AEP a las 11:08 y aterrizó en el Aeropuerto San Juan/Faustino Sarmiento a las 13:05. El retorno despegó a las 14:10 y arribó a Aeroparque a las 15:41 horas. La nueva ruta desarrollará cuatro frecuencias semanales (4Frq/S) los días Lunes, Miércoles, Viernes y Domingo. El vuelo inaugural ha desarrollado una ocupación del 90%. Con la inauguración de esta ruta.
San Juan es la ruta número 26 que vuela la aerolínea, y en Argentina es su destino doméstico número 19 y la provincia número quince en la red de servicios de Flybondi, que con esta incorporación, conecta actualmente al 63% de las provincias del país.
La llegada de la compañía es de suma relevancia conviéndose en una nueva alternativa potente para volar a la provincia con precios accesibles, promediando pasajes desde AR$ 46.872 por tramo.

Aeroméxico ha anunciado el inicio de un nuevo destino a Cartagena de Indias, incorporando su tercer destino en Colombia. La aerolínea enlazará Ciudad de México (MEX) con Cartagena/Rafael Núñez (CTG) de manera directa, iniciando sus operaciones a partir del 20 de Febrero de 2025. El nuevo destino Cartagena se convertirá en el vigésimo primer destino internacional de Aeroméxico, reforzando su posición como el tercer aeropuerto con mayor oferta internacional en Colombia.
Actualmente, la aerolínea opera tres vuelos diarios hacia Bogotá y una frecuencia diaria hacia Medellín. Con la nueva ruta a Cartagena, aumentará un 25% su oferta de asientos entre México y Colombia, ofreciendo 11.600 por semana. Aeroméxico has announced the start of a new destination to Cartagena de Indias, adding its third destination in Colombia. The airline will link Mexico City (MEX) with Cartagena/Rafael Núñez (CTG) directly, starting operations on February 20, 2025. The new Cartagena destination will become Aeroméxico’s twenty-first international destination, reinforcing its position as the third airport with the largest international offer in Colombia.
Currently, the airline operates three daily flights to Bogotá and one daily frequency to Medellín. With the new route to Cartagena, it will increase its seat offer between Mexico and Colombia by 25%, offering 11,600 per week. Acuerdos Dominicana-Bolivia Las Repúblicas de Bolivia y Dominicana anunciaron la eliminación de los requisitos de visado entre ambos países con el objetivo de establecer nuevas rutas aéreas, aumentar el tráfico de pasajeros y el intercambio turísticos. El acuerdo busca fortalecer los lazos entre Bolivia y República Dominicana con la integración y cooperación con los países de América Latina y el Caribe.
“A partir del 2 de Septiembre de 2024, los ciudadanos dominicanos podrán ingresar a Bolivia sin la necesidad de tramitar visa para turismo. Esto se hace en el marco de la reciprocidad, pues los ciudadanos bolivianos ya ingresaban sin visa a República Dominicana”, informó Fernando Pérez Cárdenas, Viceministro de Gestión Consular e Institucional de Bolivia.

Desde la Argentina se puede conectar a 14 destinos como Canadá, México y otros sitios de Centroamérica, con una conexión de dos horas. El año que viene vamos a sumar más vuelos. Sin embargo, últimamente, han intentado y fracasado en muchas rutas fuera de Florida, y una nueva serie de recortes han puesto en duda su rentabilidad y la salud general de la aerolínea. También, Silver Airways ha experimentado un proceso de estructuación de rutas a principios de 2024 recortaron más ciudades importantes como Huntsville (AL), Jacksonville (FL) y Savannah (GA) que la aerolínea ha eliminado de su programación de servicios, con menos de un años desde la aperturas de esas rutas, con una demanda sensible de tráfico de pasajeros.
La reestructuración de los servicios en Agosto 2024 reduce aún más su red y ponen en entredicho la salud financiera de la compañía aérea. Sin embargo, estos recortes de ruta podrían sugerir que necesitan redirigir la financiación al acuerdo de arrendamiento de Fort Lauderdale (FLL), pues sus operaciones actuales no están generando lo suficiente como para cubrir el plan de recuperación que se acordó.

Lauderdale/FLL—Orlando/MCO, West Palm Beach/PBI—Tampa/TPA, and San Juan/SJU—Santiago de los Caballeros/STI. Currently, four destinations are closed including West Palm Beach, Governor’s Harbor, Santiago de los Caballeros, and Gainesville.
In 2023, its main base in Ft. Lauderdale could be lost due to late payments on its gates (slots) and terminal space.
