InselAir pago de deuda a Surinam

AW | 2017 12 16 06:16 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

InselAir payment of debt to Suriname

Government of Suriname confirms that InselAir must pay debt before obtaining permission

The issue of the resumption of InselAir flights between Curaçao and Paramaribo is being widely debated in Suriname. According to InselAir, they will resume their operations in the South American country on December 18, 2017.

It was known from several sources that the government of Suriname has assumed the attitude of «let’s wait and see what happens», this because certain ambiguous cases must dissipate first.

On the other hand, it is not only a problem for InselAir but also for the travel agencies that started selling tickets. Travelers are waiting if an InselAir plane will take off from Curacao to Suriname.

The resumption of this route is one of the conditions of the agreement between the airline and the government of Curaçao, together with the loan of 33 million guilders. But in Suriname there is doubt that after six months of not operating in that country, the airline can resume them without problems. The travel agents are waiting for an official announcement from the Government of Suriname before continuing with the sale of tickets for InselAir. A \ W

Lufthansa acerca adquisición de Alitalia

AW | 2017 12 15 22:07 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Lufthansa about the acquisition of Alitalia

The negotiators of the Lufthansa Group will visit Rome this week to analyze the status of the acquisition of Alitalia

Lufthansa is the most likely candidate for the acquisition after the Italian government has rejected offers from easyJet and the US private equity fund Cerberus. The authorities concluded that only the Lufthansa offer can ensure the long-term development of Alitalia. Although they stressed that the most critical point of negotiations is the scale of staff layoffs after the acquisition.

The German group can pay between € 250 and € 300 million (USD294-352 million) depending on the assets it will assume. The offer only includes the aviation part of Alitalia, since Lufthansa is not interested in buying its ground handling unit. Lufthansa aims to cut Alitalia’s fleet from the current 115 active aircraft to around ninety and concentrate on developing its long-haul operations from Rome Fiumicino, which would become the fifth primary center of the group after Frankfurt Int’l, Munich, Vienna and Zurich.

The government wants to close the deal at the end of January, at least two months before the parliamentary elections. While the Lufthansa offer is satisfactory on many levels, the proposed job cuts remain the biggest bone of contention. The German group is in no hurry to conclude the negotiations and could extend them until a new government is formed after the elections.

Lufthansa plans to reduce the current workforce of Alitalia’s aviation unit from around 8,000 to around 6,000. The government accepts the need for some dismissals but does not want to see more than a thousand employees go, Lettera43 reported.

The possible agreement would also include hanging some of the Alitalia slot machines in Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate. The first could be assumed by easyJet. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Andes Líneas Aéreas received the eighth aircraft in its fleet, a new Boeing 737 800 LV-HKZ record that joins the airline. The current fleet of aircraft are: Boeing MD-83 (5) and three Boeing 737-800.

It is a Boeing 737 800 that was received yesterday at the international airport of Ezeiza. Arrived plotted with the colors of the national capital airline with the distinctive blue and white winglets.

«We are happy for what an airplane represents for a company that supports its development in a market that grows by leaps and bounds. This represents more source of employment, more connectivity and progress», said Horacio Preneste, general manager of Andes Líneas Aéreas.

The incorporation of the brand new airplane will allow, according to the executive, to consolidate the company’s plan to reach more destinations, with better services and with a smart fare scheme that enhances the competition in the national market and allows the access of many Argentines who before they could not fly.

Bernardo Racedo Aragón, Marketing Manager of the company, expressed this milestone of Andes, is nothing other than the execution of a plan announced at the public hearing held in December 2016 by the enforcement authority. «We are simply fulfilling what we had committed ourselves to. We also said that we would end 2017 with four Boeing; so in the short term we will be incorporating one more airplane with which we will close a year with a consolidated fleet to respond to the growing demand», he said. Uruguay demora permiso a Azul Airlines

AW | 2017 12 15 02:05 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Uruguay delays Azul Airlines permit

The Dinacia of Uruguay would endorse Azul Uruguay after March 2018

The Brazilian airline, Azul Linhas Aéreas, decided not to proceed with the process to operate as an airline in Uruguay, as a result of the excessive time it takes to obtain a certification from the National Directorate of Civil Aviation and Aeronautical Infrastructure (Dinacia).

Azul pretended to have permits for the summer season. The Civil Association of Airline Pilots in Uruguay (ACIPLA) released a statement after a meeting held with Azul at the Carrasco Airport, which reported on the announcement «by its authorities that the project was suspended until a new assessment». The company’s objective was to start operating as a Uruguayan airline in the short term, and among other destinations to fly the air bridge between Montevideo and Buenos Aires.

According to Acipla, the company informed in an «unofficial manner that said decision was due to the delays of Dinacia, as it was going to take the 6 months that the LAR (Uruguayan Aeronautical Regulations) grants to process the certification, since the The company needed to have the aircraft operating by the month of March at the latest». The timing was essential to make the investment in Uruguay since it was not an important market.

In the current development of the events, Azul Linhas Aéreas will seek to give priority to the Brazilian market that is having signs of recovery to concentrate more fully on the cabotage segment.

The Brazilian group also aims to cover the route Montevideo-Porto Alegre and Montevideo-San Pablo as flag carrier, as well as other destinations, including Córdoba in Argentina. Azul is the third most important airline in Brazil, has 11 thousand employees and reaches more than 80 destinations in the northern country. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Delta Airlines specifies a large contract with Airbus for 100 A321NEO

Delta Air Lines ordered the European manufacturer Airbus Group a contract for 100 A321NEO for an amount of US$ 12.7 billion. In a statement, the airline also indicated that it took an option for another 1,000 supplementary aircraft.

Delta explained that these planes can transport up to 197 passengers and consume 12% less fuel compared to the A321CEO, which will allow them to renew their medium-distance fleet. The start of the delivery of the devices, equipped with Pratt and Whitney engines, whose delay in production cost numerous contracts to Airbus, is planned between 2020 and 2023.

«This is the right transaction at the right time for our customers, our employees and our shareholders», Delta Chief Executive Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta, was quoted as saying in the statement.

Fight between giants
This contract not only increases Airbus’ market share in the single aisle segment, but also highlights the current tensions between Delta and Boeing. The order to Delta was announced in the middle of a public struggle between Delta and the US aeronautical giant Boeing for a commercial dispute involving another order of airplanes between the airline and the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier. Boeing argues that those planes are undervalued due to illegal subsidies from the Canadian government to Bombardier.

Bombardier announced in October an alliance in production with Airbus that delivers part of the Bombardier CSeries program. Delta has said it will not pay any tariff introduced by the US government in response to Boeing’s claims.

At the end of the line is a great defeat for the American Boeing, who founded strong hopes to renew a contract with one of the leading transporters of the world market, Delta Air Lines. A \ W
