AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Airbus delivered the first A350-1000, the largest variant of the A350XWB family, to its launch customer Qatar Airways on February 20, 2018 in Toulouse, France.

Qatar Airways incorporates into the brand new A350-1000 the new executive class cabin in Club configuration with four seats that can be «joined» by lowering gaps between them to form a private cabin. Two of them also form a double bed, the first in business class according to the airline.

A350-1000 from Qatar Airways

The A350-1000 of Qatar Airways will transport 366 passengers in three class configuration. The A350-1000 of Qatar Airways has a configuration of 44 seats more than the A350-900 in service with the airline. It will officially enter the service on February 24, 2018 on the Doha-Heathrow route, United Kingdom.

«This delivery is extremely important for Airbus and Qatar Airways, as this airline was the launch customer for both the A350-900 and the -1000», said Fabrice Brégier, former president of Airbus Commercial Aircraft. The purchase of Qatar’s A350-1000 was Brégier’s last official project before being replaced by Guillaume Faury. Qatar Airways expects to receive five additional A350-1000 this year.

Delays in delivery of the A350-1000

This delivery fell since December 2017 due to a delay in the delivery of its new executive-class Q-Suite seats manufactured by B / E Aerospace (now part of Rockwell Collins). «The A350-1000 is a very complex program, but the problem was solved in record time, and I am delighted to have this new aircraft in my fleet», said Akbar Al-Baker, CEO of the airline.

Certification A350-1000

The A350-1000 was certified in November 2017 after making its first flight in November 2016. Airbus has registered orders from 169 customers of 11 customers. Some of them are also -900 buyers, including Latam Airlines Group, IAG, Cathay Pacific, Etihad Airways and Japan Airlines. «The A350-1000 wants to make the ideal replacement for the Boeing 777-300ER», said Fabrice Brégier, CEO of Airbus.

According to Airbus statistics, the double aisle market could constitute a total of 8,700 new aircraft by 2037, of which the A350-1000 could represent more than 1,000. Airbus claims that the A350-1000 saves 25% on fuel consumption and total operating costs, compared to the 777-300ER. «Compared to the newer 777-9X, the A350XWB will offer better fuel consumption, since it weighs 35 tons less», said Marisa Lucas, Director of Product Marketing at A350.

The flight test program involved 1,600 flight hours with three test aircraft, compared to 2,500 hours with five aircraft for the A350-900. It is powered by a Rolls Royce Trent XWB variant, the Trent XWB-97 with 97,000 pounds of thrust. A \ W

Disminución ganancias en Aeroméxico

Resultado de imagen para Aeromexico wiki

AW | 2018 02 21 09:30 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Decrease profits in Aeromexico

Net profits of Aeromexico plummeted 98.4%

The Aeroméxico airline leads the airline sector recorded a net profit of 18 million pesos (mdp) in 2017, a fall of 98.4% compared to the previous year. However, their income increased 14%. Aeromexico’s profits plummeted in 2017 due to the pressure of higher expenses due to the increase in the price of fuel.

«For the year 2017, the price of fuel in pesos [Mexican] pressed the total costs of operations in approximately 2,900 million pesos with respect to the previous year», commented the company in the report of the financial results of the last period of the year sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV).

Operating expenses, including equipment rental and depreciation, increased 15.9% annually, reaching 58,371 million pesos in the previous year. The cost per seat per kilometer (CASK) in dollars – which measures the cost of moving each seat per aircraft – increased 3.2% per year. Without taking into account the fuel, the CASK decreased 0.8%, compared to 2016.

The airline has increased its revenues that totaled $ 61,481 million, an increase of 14% per year. Almost half of Aeromexico’s revenues come from international passengers, which allows it to have a type of coverage in dollars against the depreciation of the national currency. The growth in revenues was driven by the inflow of money for complementary services and cargo.

During the first months of 2017, the Mexican airline industry experienced a slowdown in the number of passengers flying to the United States slowed down. Aeromexico did not escape this decline caused by the arrival of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States.

Another factor that dissuaded international passengers was the depreciation of the peso against the dollar in the first two months of the year. In January 2017, the exchange rate peaked at 21.95 pesos and was below 20 pesos until the end of February. At the end of 2017, the exchange rate was 19.65 pesos, an appreciation of the national currency of 5.7% throughout the year.

Delta Air Lines has purchased 32% of Aeromexico in 2017, totaling 36.2% of Aeromexico’s shares. The plans of the American airline go through to acquire 49% of the shares of the Mexican airline. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

A350-1000 complete tests in the Middle East / Asia Pacific

Logo_Airbus_2014.svg.pngAirbus A350-1000 completes the three-week test flight in the Middle East and Asia Pacific1480030131094

Airbus A350-1000 flight tests were successfully carried out on a three-week demonstration tour to the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. More than 10,000 people had the opportunity to visit the A350-1000 during its 12 stopovers during a tour that recorded 87 hours in the air while covering 64,000 kilometers, the equivalent of traveling 1.6 times around the Earth.

The demonstration tour provided airlines, VIPs, journalists, social media personalities, industry influencers and enthusiasts with the opportunity to discover the last member of the A350 XWB family before its next entry into service. The first stop of the tour: Doha and the launch customer A350-1000 Qatar Airways

By maintaining the similarity to the successful A350-900 version in service, the fuselage of the A350-1000 has been stretched by seven meters, providing greater capacity (40 more seats in a typical cabin configuration of three classes) and perfectly matching the needs of the airlines on their busiest long-haul routes, while providing the flexibility to provide a larger premium seating area.

Tour of the A350-1000

The demonstration tour of the A350-1000 started on January 26, 2018, with Doha, Qatar as its first destination. This visit was very appropriate, since Qatar Airways, based in Doha, will be the first airline to introduce the new aircraft, joining the growing A350-900 fleet of the airline. Following the tour there were visits to Oman, Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei, Hanoi and Singapore, where the plane was shown at 2018 Singapore Airshow. After a prolonged stop, the plane flew to Bangkok, Sydney, Auckland, Tokyo and Manila before returning on February 16 to the Airbus headquarters and the location of the final assembly line of the A350 XWB in the Toulouse region, in the south of France.

Renewed developments of the A350

Airbus has said it is not planning a larger A350 jet and will focus on developing existing versions of the wide-body aircraft, an executive said on Tuesday.

The European aircraft manufacturer filed tentative plans for a larger A350 that would compete more directly with Boeing. new 777X aircraft currently under development. «At the moment there are no plans, we do not see the need», Marisa Lucas-Ugena, director of A350 XWB Marketing,  in Toulouse.

Airbus predicted that the A380, the world’s largest passenger plane, filled the need for high density routes, there was still a large gap between that model and the A350-1000, the largest of the A350 family.

Airbus will remain focused on its A350-900 and A350-1000 aircraft. The A350-900, which was originally marketed for 317 passengers, now has 325 in standard design. The A350-1000 can accommodate 366 passengers in a typical arrangement. The A350-1000 was launched to compete against Boeing’s 777 in the market of up to 400 seats. Boeing aims to offer the newest 777x version in 2020. A \ W

The agreement, still subject to the approval of the Chinese government, is valued at ¥ 200 billion yuan (US $ 31.56 billion), which is equivalent to the largest aircraft firm ever made by the Chengdu-based airline.

Sichuan Airlines expects its first Airbus A350-900 of the three leased AerCap and a quarter of Air Lease Corporation. The four A350s were destined for SriLankan Airlines, which canceled its order last year. The first Sichuan A350-900 (MSN 52) appeared in September 2017 with a panda livery and has completed three test flights.

Sichuan Airlines expects the A350 to serve the so-called «Panda Route», which attracts tourists and passengers to Sichuan Province, home to China’s giant pandas. The airline also told Chinese media that the plane would increase its competitiveness in the international market, and requested direct service from Chengdu to Los Angeles.

Partially owned by the provincial government and China Southern, China Eastern and Shandong Airlines, Sichuan Airlines ranks as the largest Airbus operator in China, flying more than 130 aircraft, including A320NEO’s, A321 and A330-200 / 300, which carry out most of its long-haul flights to Moscow, Vancouver and Auckland. United iniciará ops Boeing 737-9 MAX

AW-70083007

AW | 2018 02 20 11:10 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

United Airlines will start ops Boeing 737-9 MAX

United Airlines has announced the date for the start of operations of the new Boeing 737-9 MAX

About three days after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved the aircraft for commercial operations, United Airlines announced its initial routes for the new addition of the Boeing 737-9 MAX. The announcement comes after an exciting month for Boeing with the presentation of the 737-7 MAX plane two weeks ago.

New United services

United Airlines will initiate the launch of the new Boeing 737-9 MAX’s commercial operations on June 7, 2018 from its hub at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. Nine destinations have been announced so far for the Boeing 737-9 MAX in a combination of short to medium range routes. The airline will start serving the first five destinations on June 7, and the remaining five later in the month of June 29. United will receive 10 of the planes this year and will expand its route network as it receives more in the coming years.

AW-70008786

The first batch of destinations that will serve the new plane on June 7 will be Anchorage, Austin, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and San Diego of Houston. Then, the plane will be seen on the routes from Houston to Los Angeles, Sacramento and Tampa, as well as from Los Angeles to Honolulu, on June 29.

The Chicago-based airline promoted the advanced technology and fuel efficiency of MAX from a financial point of view, and United Airlines Chief Financial Officer Andrew Levy said: «The addition of MAX 9 improves our efforts to become a The most efficient and productive airline, it has better fuel efficiency, lower maintenance costs and does all this while maximizing customer comfort».

The United MAX 9

The main points of sale of the aircraft are its ability to reduce the price per passenger and its greater range due to its fuel-efficient CFM LEAP engines and its divided scimitar fins. One of the first routes for the MAX 9, Houston to Anchorage, is one of the longest routes for the Boeing 737 at 7 hours and 18 minutes and 2,838 nautical miles long, seconded to the Norwegian route from Newburgh to Bergen, Norway, which also presents a 737 MAX, in 8 hours and 5 minutes and 3,004 nautical miles in length.

AW-71000909

United’s Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft will have 179 seats, which is the same as its current model 737-900s, in a three-class configuration with United First, Economy Plus and Economy. United First will be in a 2-2 configuration, while both economy classes will maintain the standard 3-3 configuration. Other features that will remain the same in the 737 MAX 9 will be the WiFi in flight and the power in the seat throughout the plane.

What will be different, however, is personal entertainment. Currently, some of the Boeing 737-900s in United’s fleet have seat-back entertainment systems, a remnant of the aircraft service with Continental, which is available for purchase. The new 737 MAX 9 aircraft will not have entertainment systems in the seat backrest. Rather, United emphasized the Private Screening entertainment system, which allows passengers’ Wi-Fi enabled devices to access movies and TV shows for free.

The tilt of the seat will also change, since it will be reduced from 31 inches in most of the current Boeing 737-900 to 30 inches standard in the 737 MAX 9. The reduction in the distance between seats is a trend of major US operators They adopt the new MAX aircraft, as one of United’s national competitors, American Airlines, also reduced the inclination of the seat to 30 inches in its MAX plane.

The biggest changes will occur in the front cabin of the aircraft, as United First will receive some updates to keep in line with United’s commitment to improve its first class product. The United First seats will feature contoured two-tone leather, an adjustable six-way headrest and a padded seat cushion. Storage is also a key factor in seating, as it will include more storage spaces for personal items, electronic devices and portable bottles with the addition of a tablet / laptop slot in the arm, double pockets in the backrest and a console. water bottle.

In addition, first-class tray tables will also receive an update, as they will now have holders of folding mobile devices capable of containing more than 200 models of phones and tablets. Passengers can charge these devices with the addition of a universal AC power plug in each seat. Finally, an extendable cocktail table with granite top will be added to the center console to keep the tray tables free of unnecessary items. At the time of this writing, United is the only US operator. UU With the 737 MAX 9 in order and June 7, its MAX 9 will be the only ones that will fly over the American skies. A \ W
