Bombardier CS-300 recibe distinción de Declaración Ambiental

AW | 2017 10 03 17:14 | INDUSTRY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Bombardier CS-300 receives Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) award

The CS-300 aircraft received an award for their unparalleled environmental performance

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft announced today at the Global Sustainable Aviation Summit in Geneva the publication of the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the CS300 aircraft. The Bombardier CS300 Product Environmental Statement comes one year after the EPD® for the CS100 aircraft.

The news was made public one year after the CS100 received the same certification. No other aircraft manufacturer discloses the full environmental impact of its products.

«At Bombardier, we believe in concrete and transparent actions when it comes to creating more sustainable growth in the aviation industry,» said Fred Cromer, president of Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. «As we now know and as our competitors have noticed, the CSeries is simply unparalleled and this EPD offers our customers and stakeholders a complete view of the CS300’s environmental performance, which was optimized at every stage of its life cycle», explained.

«The publication of this EPD for the CS300 aircraft underscores Bombardier’s commitment to bring innovative and sustainable aircraft to the market that meets and exceeds customer expectations,» said François Caza, Vice President of Product Development and Senior Product Development Engineer of Aerospace Engineering. «Under the direction of our Eco-Design team, most aspects of aircraft design and manufacturing as well as end-of-life recovery factors were evaluated to reduce environmental impacts. C-series passenger aircraft that change the game already fully comply with the new ICAO CO 2 emission standards, which was adopted by the ICAO Council of 36 States last March». «We are pleased to see Bombardier continue to be a pioneer in the use of EPD in the aeronautics industry. We hope others can follow suit.» «Transparent declarations of environmental performance throughout the life cycle make it possible to make more informed decisions and contribute to working to improve the sector’s environmental performance», said Elin Eriksson, president of EPD International AB.

The EPD, which is based on verified Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data, reveals information on the environmental impact of the product lifecycle and, therefore, provides the basis for a fair comparison of products and services with regarding their environmental performance. Last year, Bombardier selected a CS100 aircraft for the first EPD, and this year a Bombardier CS300 was chosen for the exercise.

The CSeries aircraft have unparalleled fuel efficiency of just two liters of fuel per 100 km per passenger. This means that throughout its operational lifetime, each CSeries aircraft is expected to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emissions released into the atmosphere by up to 120,000 tonnes compared to other larger size aircraft. This compares comparatively to removing more than 32,000 midsize vehicles from the road for a year. The noise level of the CSeries aircraft is comparable to smaller passenger aircraft, such as regional aircraft, making it an ideal solution for urban operations and the most user friendly aircraft in the small aisle category. Sky Airline starts ops Rosario-Santiago de Chile

Sky Airline has started operations today between Santiago de Chile and Rosario

Sky Airline is the first low cost to start flying from Rosario International Airport. The airline will connect these two cities three times a week. In this way it incorporates another route in Argentina. Córdoba, Mendoza and Buenos Aires are the other destinations.

The inaugural flight will arrive today at Rosario International Airport from Santiago de Chile at 15:10 and take off at 15:40 hs heading to the Chilean capital. The direct frequencies will be from Rosario Airport on Tuesdays at 3:40 p.m., Thursday 3:20 p.m. and Sunday 6:20 p.m.; while arrivals from Santiago will take place at 15:10, 14:50 and 17:50 hs, respectively. The flight time will be approximately 01:40 hs.

Sky Airline is a low cost model with competitive prices. The stretch has a value of US $ D52 per flight (Rosario-Santiago or vice versa), plus boarding fees from Rosario Airport of US $ 69 and Chile, US $ 30 plus additional services from the airline. Curiously for this rate the ticket value is lower than the airport rate, something inexplicable and out of logic.

The «light» rate entitles you to a 10 kilo hand luggage and a random seat. A suitcase in a hold of up to 23 kilos has an additional cost of US $ 16 dollars more. An example round trip would have a value of US $ D203 dollars, some AR $ 3,500 pesos. The company also offers promotions on its website.

to commercial airline Sky Airline, Carmen Gloria Serrat «We decided to open the route to Rosario because we believe it is a destination that has a projection», adding that ticket sales met our expectations and planes are 80 percent occupation.  A \ W

Avances del AVIC MA-700

AW | 2017 10 02 22:38 | INDUSTRY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Advances of the AVIC MA-700

Resultado de imagen para AVIC logoThe Xian MA700 (MA for 新 舟, «Modern Ark») is a twin-engine and mid-range turboprop aircraft currently under development by the Xi’an Aeronautical Industrial Corporation of the China Aeronautical Industry Corporation (AVIC).

Resultado de imagen para AVIC MA700When the aircraft was first announced in 2007, it was presented as a 70-seat aircraft. However, when an aircraft model was shown at the 2008 Zhuhai Airshow, [1] was touted as capable of offering 78 seats in the 4-to-pair configuration.

The MA700 is a conventional configuration, with a non-swept conical wing mounted in the center of the fuselage. Its two PW150C engines from Pratt & Whitney Canada are mounted on a tractor. The 2008 model was equipped with 6-blade propellers slightly swept. The main tricycle landing gear bogies are carried in pods rendered out of the pressure capsule. The empennage has T-tail configuration. The 2008 model showed 28 exterior window openings on either side of the passenger area.

In 2014 the AVIC MA700 commercial aircraft was configured with an electrical system from Labinal Power Systems. A corresponding statement of intent was signed at the Zhuhai Airshow. Safran and AVIC have created a joint venture of their subsidiaries Snecma and SAIC to develop and produce components of a turboprop engine for commercial aircraft. The new joint venture is located in China.

Regional economic development brings a new impetus. Flying in the sky where they are most needed: the regional trend of China’s aviation development is rapid. The new AVIC development is present with its new regional commercial turboprop MA-700.

STATIC MAKEUP OF THE AVIC MA-700

China’s regional aviation has broad prospects for development. In recent years, regional development of aviation has been increasingly favored, especially the national regional development of aviation needs unprecedented momentum.

Since the implementation of the «National Plan for the Distribution of Civil Transport Airplanes», the number of airports in our country has increased significantly, airport density has gradually increased and the five major airports favor growth in the country of dragons. Among them, the proportion of small and medium airports reached 73%, which for airlines to develop short-haul transport to build a combination of dry and integrated aviation network system to improve the accessibility of small and medium-sized cities for remote and remote areas to enable traffic travel.

According to reports, the new regional turbo-prop aircraft MA-700 would explore a new variety of new business model, and operators work together in the market demand and local development under the axes: China’s fleet growth, of the commercial aviation, and the imperative necessity of the region of a regional airplane.

China’s Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC) said in recent years, the new MA-700 turboprop aircraft is committed to promoting the national aviation basic service plan to improve people’s lives, to solve some of the remote areas of the travel problems of the people, and promote a balanced development of the regional economy.

In 2005, the predecessor model, MA-60 flew out of the country, has delivered to Africa, South America, Oceania, Asia and others «along the way» throughout the 18 countries. It is understood that in Zimbabwe, Tonga and other countries, the success of the operation of the new MA-60, has promoted to approach the different regions of difficult access. The model is operational in Cambodia, Laos, Nepal and other countries. Rapid development in Nepal and Cameroon has allowed the new MA-60 to help governments cope with earthquake disasters, evacuation at war.

The new MA-700 with a reliable operation to win the trust of the local people, to create in China a market of regional aircraft.  The MA700 turboprop is expected to fly in 2018, a year later than expected, Avic said, forecasting deliveries not before 2020.

The state-owned company is prepared to market the 78-seat aircraft based on a Chinese Certificate of Airworthiness only if, due to regulatory obstacles, it can not obtain FAA validation of the certification.

The MA700 is still in the detailed design phase, said an Avic representative. That phase was supposed to end in 2015, although there was a recognized opportunity that could be extended until 2016. Describing the new schedule to Aviation Daily in an interview before Airshow China, to be held Nov 1-6 here, the representative did not reveal the reasons for the delay.

Industry sources told Aviation Daily that the MA700’s calendar had fallen in September. An Avic unit in the program delivered a major engineering fabric sample, a non-volatile rear fuselage, in September. The timing was quite late for a show that was supposed to run its first flight in 2017.

The MA700 will be powered by the PW150C engine from Pratt & Whitney Canada, a new engine that Avic hopes to give it an edge in the market. The low production costs are intended to be another advantage.

The major disadvantage in the future is the lack of Western validation of the Certificate of Airworthiness of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) by the FAA or the European Aviation Safety Agency. Many countries, especially those with advanced economies, insist on certification or validation by the FAA, other highly recognized EASA agencies.

Avic can sell the aircraft despite that, because the CAAC airworthiness requirements are even higher than those of the FAA, the representative said. The FAA is working with CAAC to recognize the competence of the Chinese agency, but the regulatory program has been delayed.

The current Avic production turboprop is the Y-7, based on the Antonov An-24 and now marketed in two versions called MA60 and MA600. The most valuable experience that Avic has gained from the MA60 and MA600 has been learning to work with customer airlines, the representative said. Other Avic officials, from time to time, said the company needed a stronger customer focus. A \ W

Aerolíneas cubren vacío de Ryanair

AW | 2017 10 02 16:26 | AIR TRAFFIC / AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Airlines cover empty Ryanair

Vueling, Aer Lingus, easyJet, Norwegian and Eurowings collect the passengers Ryanair left ashore

The main European competitors are absorbing the demand left by Ryanair when it has been forced to cancel thousands of flights due to bad planning of the pilot licenses, plus the trigger of the «flight» of pilots to another European airline called Norwegian Air Shuttle from Norway.

Ryanair was forced to reach agreements with several airlines to relocate passengers affected by the cancellations of 20,000 flights that the airline has made in the last two weeks.

Vueling, of Spain is one of the airlines that has taken advantage of the Irish airline for the endorsement of the air tickets. EasyJet, Jet2, Cityjet, Norwegian, Eurowings and Aer Lingus are the others that will transport Ryanair customers.

Ryanair allowed to give a flight alternative or a refund to 98% of those affected by the first batch of cancellations. This is a total of 315,000 passengers of those affected between September 2017 and April 2018.

As for flights canceled for the winter season from November 2017 to March 2018, Ryanair has reported that it has processed more than 75% of the claims or relocations of the 400,000 affected. This is 75% of the total, which expects to see increased to 90% in the remainder of this week.

The Irish airline, which since the beginning of the cancellations has argued that it would allow them to bypass the delays, has highlighted that only in the last week its punctuality index has improved to 97% and that only two of the 16,000 operated flights have been canceled this week. The cost of cancellations have not been reported. A \ W

Ucrania apoya juicio acusados del MH17

AW | 2017 10 02 16:04 | AIR INVESTIGATION

«In a certain historical period we are reunited by a common tragedy that occurred after the activity of Russian terrorists, I am referring to the plane demolished doing the flight MH-17. This is a huge tragedy for us, and we do everything possible to establish justice and to prosecute all involved. The common duty of the entire democratic and civilized world is to take the case to the relevant trials until sentences are handed down», Groysman said.

The Boeing 777-200 aircraft on the MH17 (Amsterdam – Kuala Lumpur) flight crashed on July 17, 2014 near the city of Torez in the Donetsk region. The 298 people on board died. The 193 of these were citizens of the Netherlands.

On 28 September 2016, the Joint Investigation Team, composed of the representatives of the Netherlands, Malaysia, Belgium, Australia and Ukraine, announced that the plane making the MH17 flight was shot down by a «Buk» missile system of Russia to the territory controlled by the pro-Russian militants. Colapso de Monarch Airlines

AW | 2017 10 02 05:27 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Monarch Airlines Collapse

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) says it is taking steps to recover 110,000 people in the UK, with 300,000 future reservations canceled

The airline Monarch Airlines ceased operations, with 110,000 customers to be taken home on specially rented aircraft.

KPMG accountants announced early Monday that Monarch Airlines, the UK airline, had been placed in administration and that all new flights from the UK had been canceled and would not be rescheduled.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said it had launched a program to take Monarch customers to its home in the next fortnight, leasing 30 aircraft for the rescue operation. All Monarch customers who are overseas and will return to the UK within the next two weeks will be transferred at no additional cost and do not need to cut their stay, according to the regulator. But he said the «very tough message» was that 300,000 future bookings had been canceled and anyone who had booked vacations leaving the UK would not be able to travel.

CAA Chief Executive Andrew Haines said: «We know that Monarch’s decision to stop operating will be very painful for all its customers and employees. This is the largest British airline that has stopped operating, so the government has requested the CAA to support Monarch’s overseas customers to return to the UK at the end of their holiday at no additional cost to them. » «We are gathering, in a very short time and for a period of two weeks, what is effectively one of the largest airlines in the UK to handle this task.» The scale and challenge of this operation means that some disruption is inevitable. we ask customers to stay with us while we work all day to bring everyone home. «

Customers affected by the collapse of the company have been urged to consult their website monarch.caa.co.uk for advice and information on flights back to the UK. It also provides information for passengers who have future reservations with Monarch but have not yet left the UK. The government has warned passengers that they expect disruptions and delays as it works to ensure that there are enough flights to return the «large number» of passengers.

The CAA was expected to announce Monday whether Monarch could continue to sell holiday packages. The low-cost airline and holiday company previously had a midnight deadline of September 30 before their air travel organizer license (Atol) expired. A \ W

Ryanair, presa de su propio éxito

AW | 2017 10 01 18:38 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Ryanair, prey to its own success

Cancellations of the airline question a model of hiring pilots

Ryanair in 2015 had drawn up an expansion plan following the low cost model’s cost discipline that would lead the airline to aspire with the opening of transatlantic routes coast to coast between Europe and America.

The transatlantic lowcost model

When the Ryanair company wanted to launch the transatlantic model, it made «promotions» of the promotions that would reach the passengers in the transatlantic line, the possibility of traveling for around 15 euros. The reaction of the sector showed a mixture of astonishment and skepticism. Ryanair has not been able to truly demonstrate the formula for offering so cheap airfares for transoceanic flights.

The Irish-based airline has been forced to plan objectively the possibility of major investments in aircraft fleet renewal and a deep operational change. Norwegian Air Shuttle has become its major competitor which has increased its participation in Europe and America. This pulse explains, in part, erroneous planning by Ryanair.

Planning misses

Around 400,000 passengers could be left unmanned due to planning errors in pilot licenses, according to Ryanair. The Irish airline argues that a failure in the shifts of pilots, following the Irish legislation (which until next year differs from European), has deprived the company of sufficient reserve staff. From the sector, the emphasis is placed on the fact that many pilots have left the company due to their working conditions, a model of contracting in which all kinds of modalities to reduce costs, whether through brokerage or workers autonomous or according to sources of the union of pilots (Sepla), by means of the constitution of parallel corporations that later contract the company. The firm thus ensures a zero cost in terms of social security contributions and other benefits, such as unemployment, paid leave, and so on. According to the Association of Pilots of Airlines, Ryanair has lost 700 of these professionals in the last year.

To these cancellations announced last Wednesday, there are added the daily suspensions of 50 flights, more than 2,200 cancellations between the months of September and October. The mistakes in the planning of the vacations added the flight of approximately 140 pilots in the last months towards the Norwegian airline, they suppose a search for a professional improvement.

According to experts, the Ryanair model does not experience a crisis of exhaustion. Rather one could speak of a collapse product of success. In the heat of this way of understanding the business have arisen numerous competitors that, even, have been sent to new fields still unexplored by Ryanair.

Pressure for pilots

Carlos San José, a spokesman for the Commercial Aviation Pilots Association (Copac), believes that the Irish company’s crisis shows that its hiring system to save costs does not work and that the company is bordering on legal lines and revealing that the inspection capacity of the European Union has not been able to counteract the harmful consequences of this scheme of work, which can even affect ‘passenger safety’ as pilots are being subjected to too much pressure. «We do not believe that it is a crisis of the whole sector of the low cost, but it is a failure in a specific model», explain from the airlines, that deny that the irruption of the low cost of long radio collision with the business of low cost. They are different markets. Several low-cost firms have made the decision to power the long and short-haul companies. It has been a change in the rules of the game that, in some points, makes enough sense, riveted.

Already three years ago, Ryanair itself had to lower its demands on passengers as the costs associated with the ticket, eliminate uncomfortable services on board and show their friendlier face to avoid the downfall of the clientele. In 2012 it had to change its fuel policy (it was loading the load, although it complied with the legal minimum) after three «mayday» (distress signal) in Valencia. This new crisis will force him to rethink himself not to fall prey to his own success. A \ W

Bombardier persigue su éxito en EEUU

Bombardier vs Boeing

AW | 2017 10 01 17:17 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Bombardier pursues success in US

Bombardier’s Reliable «Scope Clauses» Will Not Change

Bombardier is increasingly confident that the so-called «scope clauses» in US pilot contracts will remain unchanged, a position that, if accurate, bodes well for sales of Bombardier‘s CRJ and CSeries jets, says one high executive.

16655262-14617840150369112Speaking to reporters on September 25, the company’s vice president of regional aircraft, Kevin Smith, predicts market realities, including pilot shortages, rising wages and strong profits will block any effort to alter the scope clauses. «There will be no change in scope clause,» Smith says bluntly B737during the annual meeting of the Regional Aircraft Association in West Palm Beach.

The scope clauses largely prohibit regional airlines contracted by major airlines from operating aircraft with more than 76 seats or a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 39,010 kg (86,000 pounds). That MTOW limit prevents regional airlines of major airlines from operating two new-generation regional aircraft under development: Embraer‘s E175-E2 and Mitsubishi Aircraft’s MRJ90. Embraer has delayed the entry into service of E175-E2 in 2021, and Mitsubishi plans to enter its MRJ90 by 2020.

Airline manufacturers and major airlines have tried to ease the cap so that carrier partners can operate the new airplane, but the pilot unions have refused, trying to protect their work from being outsourced.

Restrictions could be alleviated when the pilot contracts of major airlines are submitted for renegotiation between 2019 and 2020, but the pilot unions have expressed their unwillingness to move.

Smith says that market forces work in their favor. He notes that regional airlines are struggling to hire enough cockpit equipment amid a shortage of the pilot industry. Pilot training classes, he says, are only about 60%. Regional airlines have increased pilot payout, lowering their cost advantage for major airlines, he adds. At the same time, US airlines continue to reap significant profits and, therefore, will be cautious about slowing relationships by pushing the scope clause issue, says Smith.

If there is a shortage of pilots, the main airlines would not encourage to have more regional aircraft because they will not be able to fly them. There is no motivation of the direction to push and to request more regional airplanes. There is no point buying or renting aircraft so that you can not use them later. Bombardier has every reason to expect Smith’s predictions to be correct.

The CRJ700, CRJ900 and CRJ1000‘s three CRJ models come under the 39010kg MTOW, making the type competitive with unchanged range clauses. Meanwhile, CSeries of approximately 110 to 130 seats fill the gap between the 76-seat regional jets and the narrow seats of approximately 130 seats built by Boeing and Airbus, says Kevin Smith.   A \ W
