Programa Boeing 787-10 avanza

AW | 2017 07 14 00:43 | INDUSTRY

AIRGWAYS ® Icon-AW

Boeing 787-10 advances

The US builder builds the new Boeing 787-10 line in North Charleston, South Carolina, and is closing in on 400 hours of flight time in what a company official recently called a «boring» flight test program.

Starting Thursday afternoon, the double-decker Dash 10, the newest and largest member of the Dreamliner family – had logged 396.63 hours in the air, divided between a trio of planes that are undergoing performance tests and Systems, according to data compiled by Dreamliner Analyst Uresh Sheth on his «All Things 787» website.

«So far we are essentially looking at what we expected,» Wayne Tygert, chief engineer of the Dash 10 program, told reporters at the Paris Air Show last month. «Our goal was to have the most boring flight test program we’ve ever seen, and so far we’re marching down that road.» «The 787-10 flight tests have gone spectacularly well,» said Saj Ahmad, chief analyst at Strategic Aero Research, based in London. «The fact that we do not hear anything remotely negative about it demonstrates the inherent maturity of not only the test phases, but also the built-up planes that are flying towards certification early next year.» The 787-10s – two with Rolls Royce engines and one with GE engines, are performing test flights on the West Coast.

Boeing estimates that it is between a quarter and a third of the way through its 787-10 test program, which will consist of something between 1,200 and 1,500 hours of flight time. Sheth said that the similarity between the 787-10 and its smaller brother 787-9, the two aircraft are about 95 percent equal – will allow the Dash 10 to obtain certification in a shorter period of time. The 787-9 underwent about 1,800 flight test hours while the first Dreamliner model, 787-8, was in flight testing for more than 6,200 hours.

«Boeing has more than one curve in the program,» said Ahmad, adding that the successful integration of the 787-10 into a production line with two other Dreamliner models gives North Charleston an edge over other Boeing sites in building A new unannounced, to cover existing space between existing single-aisle and two-aisle aircraft.

Boeing has said it is interested in building an airplane, dubbed the 797 by analysts, but has not committed to a new commercial aircraft program. «The site is certainly a prime contender in my mind for the eventual mid-market plane,» Ahmad said.

Including a March 31 debut at Charleston International Airport, the 787-10 test aircraft have made 147 flights with an average of approximately 2.7 hours of air time each trip. The first 787-10 to roll the North Charleston production line represents more than half of those flights, including a nearly nine-hour hike to Le Bourget Airport for the air show. The tests should conclude in early 2018, with the first delivery of a 787-10 to Singapore Airlines scheduled to take place during the second quarter.

With 18 feet longer than the 787-9, the Dash 10 accommodates 330 passengers and has a range of 7,400 miles. Boeing has 169 orders for the 787-10, including 30 each from Singapore Airlines and Etihad Airways. United Airlines, which has ordered 14 of the planes, will be the first US airline to get a Dash 10. Aerolíneas no quiere «cielos abiertos»

AW | 2017 07 13 17:13 | AIRLINES MARKET / GOVERNMENT

Aerolíneas Argentinas does not want «open skies»

The president of the flag line, Mario Dell’Acqua, said that all companies will compete on equal terms

Under the watchful eye of the Argentine government, Mario Dell’Acqua emphasized: «There will be no skies open, companies that come will not be able to register planes where they want to, nor use foreign pilots with other standards, they will fly with planes based in Argentina and Argentine workers. An inequity in competition. The rules are clear, they are competitive. « The stage that begins in the aerial commercial market, is clearly marked by the conditions that not only Aerolíneas Argentinas can fix, but it is a clear message of the government of Argentina. The President insisted that he was struck by the fact that the aeronautical guilds warned of the negative impact that greater competition could generate. «It’s weird because it will give them more work,» he said.

«Flying in Argentina is already cheap,» Garcia said, explaining that a comparative study of the lowest airfares that the state authorizes companies and that has not changed since October 2014, are in balance with other Latin American countries. «If companies come to compete, it is because those values are appropriate. We have the most efficient network of connections and, in addition, the social commitment to serve the whole country,» said Dell’Acqua.

Regarding the claim of long-distance bus companies, he said the data show that the plane catches passengers «who used the car before and those who did not travel.» «We want everyone to travel, the most expensive seat for us is the one that is not occupied, the one that is not sold, prices from this city this year fell 20% on average,» they added.

Balance in Aerolíneas Argentinas

Aerolíneas will present their balance sheet; Regularizing its situation since the year 2013 that no data are obtained. The reports will allow to obtain better conditions of financing for the leasing or leasing of more airplanes. They are considering incorporating 8 Boeing 737-800 and an Airbus 330. «We are paying with a lot of sacrifice the 300 million dollars owed to Embraer,» said Dell’Acqua, referring to Austral Líneas Aéreas E-190s.

Argentina, «la revolución del aire”

AW | 2017 07 13 16:37 | AIRLINES MARKET

Argentina, «the air revolution»

The winds of change are projected over the skies of Argentina

Most Argentines understand that the rules on commercial aviation have changed allowing greater competition and supply, with the consequent activation gear for more employment. On the other hand, the country is in a deep transformation in the air environment that is necessary to plan and to act with laws and mechanisms that effectively regulate the air market in Argentina.

The President of Argentina, Mauricio Macri expressed his positive opinion on the next development of commercial aviation: «It will become more and more accessible to travel by plane. The rates are going to go down. There will be more and more airlines», said the head of state. From the Provincial Directorate of Aeronautics (DPA), President Mauricio Macri held a press conference with the Governor of the Province of Córdoba, Juan Schiaretti; Transport Minister Guillermo Dietrich and deputy Hector Baldassi and said: «We see an Argentina that has returned to the world.»

As for Aerolíneas Argentinas, the President said that «It does not stop growing. We demonstrated that both things that bring new companies to market and that AR (*) does not fall out of favor could be compatible«.

The President, who had to his left to the Dietrich Dietrich, said that the flag airline will go from 11 million passengers to 24 million. «There are going to be flights everywhere, it is a revolution of the air in favor of people. This will create many jobs. Things are going in the right direction», he concluded. A \ W

Turista fallece en playa de Sint Maarten

AW | 2017 07 13 16:07 | SAFETY / SECURITY

AIRGWAYS ® Icon-AW

Tourist dies in Sint Maarten beach

A tourist dies on Maho Beach beach due to emissions from aircraft turbines

Sint Maarten is an island with two nationalities shared between France and the Netherlands. In the Dutch part there is the Princess Juliana International Airport where a headland overlooks the famous Maho Beach, a beach where tourists «enjoy» the fabulous landings of aircraft from all over the world. There, the aircraft land just 50 meters above sea level.

Hundreds of tourists are coming to enjoy an extreme experience, on the one hand enjoy the landings at very low altitude and on the other stand behind a plane that is about to take off. The challenge is to withstand the very strong air gusts that blow out the turbines. The less risky are waiting on the seashore, so that the only consequence of falling is to get wet. But others, more unconscious, are taken from the bars that delimit the airport and try to cling to them with all their strength. The problem is that behind them there is no water or sand, but pavement.

A 57-year-old New Zealander was there Wednesday with her family. The whirlwind that sacked the Boeing 737 on its way to Trinidad was so big that the tourist broke loose and fell to the ground and hit his head against a barrier of containment. After spending some hours in the hospital of the island, she had passed away. Another antecedent happened years ago when he was expelled, but only that he could survive. «I met the family of the deceased, they recognized that what they did was wrong, because the signs that warn of the danger of being there are very clear. They regretted that the risk they took has ended in the worst possible way», said Rolando Brison , Director of the Sint Maarten Tourism Agency.

In the beach of Maho Beach there is a legend where it warns of the damages that can incur those who are exposed to this peril. A \ W

Cambio climatico afecta capacidad aeronaves

AW | 2017 07 13 10:42 | AVIATION / ENGINEERING

AIRGWAYS ® Icon-AW

Climate change affects aircraft capacity

The change in weather conditions can affect the ability of aircraft to perform. Airlines may be forced to lower their passenger, cargo, fuel capacity due to global warming.

Frequent heat waves and rising temperatures reduce aircraft wing capabilities to generate optimum takeoff, according to a US study published in the journal Climate Change. The forecast warns that average temperatures around the world increase by about 5.5 ° F (Fahrenheit), 3 ° C (Celsius) by the year 2100, the researchers said. Frequent heat waves pose a major threat to the airline industry, the study said.

The phenomenon could force the aviation industry to rely on narrower profit margins. «Our results suggest that weight restriction may impose a non-trivial cost,» said Ethan Coffel, lead author of the study and a researcher at Columbia University in New York.

Last month, major airlines were forced to delay or cancel dozens of flights from Las Vegas and Phoenix airports, citing difficulties in operating aircraft in the midst of a heatwave. Previous research has found that changes in weather can increase turbulence in flights, researchers said. Their study was the first global analysis of this type. A\W

AIRGWAYS ® Icon-AW

Air Transat first operator A321LR in North America

The Canadian company AirTransat will incorporate 10 Airbus A321LR

Air Transat has confirmed to Airbus a portfolio of orders for 10 A321LR (Extended Range) becoming the first North American operator of the narrowbody airplane of more reach in the world. Air Transat has been taken in lease mode through an agreement with AerCap. The airline plans to start operations from 2019.

The A321LR builds on the success of the A321NEO, which has captured more than 80% of market share with more than 1,400 orders to date. The LR option extends the range of the aircraft up to 4,000 nautical miles and brings a 30 percent reduction in operating costs compared to its closest competitor.

The A321LR allows airlines to access new long-range markets that were previously inaccessible to existing single-aisle aircraft. With 206 passengers in a typical two-class design, the A321LR offers the possibility for each passenger to carry up to three suitcases.

«This is an ideal aircraft for the North American market, and in particular for an operator like Air Transat,» said John Leahy, Director of Operations for Airbus-Customers. «It offers operators a highly efficient and affordable modern option for their transatlantic routes, and we expect other North American airlines to follow the example of Air Transat.»

The new generation of A320NEO family incorporates the latest technologies, new generation engines and sharklets, which offer 15% of fuel savings per trip, expecting it to be 20% by 2020, as well as 50% noise reduction . With more than 5,100 orders received from more than 90 customers since its launch in 2010, the A320NEO family has captured about 60% of the market in its category. A \ W
