AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Airlines reduce flights to Nicaragua

International airlines have minimized air frequencies due to problems in the Central American country

International airlines drastically reduced flights to the Republic of Nicaragua due to the insecurity that the country is experiencing as a result of anti-government protests and, by extension, the decrease in tourist offerings.

The fall attributed to the political-social crisis that have generated travel alerts for tourists. The sector of the economy hit hardest by the violence unleashed with the protests that began on April 18, 2018, generated hundreds of deaths according to human rights organizations. Hotel occupancy fell from 67% to 12% and more than 80% of small hotels and 30% of restaurants closed. It is estimated, moreover, that more than 70,000 people were fired because of the crisis in the tourism industry, which sold Nicaragua as the safest and most peaceful country in the region. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Aeropostal has resumed air-commercial operations this Wednesday 8 August, after a year without activities. The flight to restart the opening of the air routes began with Caracas-La Habana, which will have three weekly frequencies.

«We hope that with the restart of operations in a strategic development plan we can reach the end of the year with growth that triples the current operational capacity», said Aeropostal President Eduardo Legaspi, who traveled to Cuba on the inaugural flight, together to 57 passengers.

A favorable point is the 32% increase in the number of travelers abroad from airports in the interior of the country. Aeropostal restarted its operations within a plan promoted by the Government of the Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro, to relaunch the national and international transportation system. The success of this program was greeted with skepticism by the opposition of the country, mired in an economic and political crisis.

The Venezuelan airline Aeropostal had ceased its air operations in August 2017 wrapped in a national political crisis that led it to cancel its commercial operations. After a year later, the historic airline of Venezuela returns to sail the skies. A \ W

Air Moldova se pone en venta

Resultado de imagen para air moldova

AW | 2018 08 08 08:18 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Air Moldova puts on sale

The government of Moldova has announced the sale of Air Moldova airline

The national airline Air Moldova is for sale for the price of US$ 2.9 million dollars, to which we must add debt obligations of € 72 million euros.

The current owner is Public Property Agency and will accept purchase offers in the period of July 27 and September 4, 2018, according to a statement posted on its website. By selling the airline, the Moldovan government hopes to «attract private funds in order to improve the fleet, improve service, expand capabilities and increase the number of passengers in transit», the statement said.

With a registered capital of 17.9 million, the airline’s assets include a fleet of seven aircraft, allegedly with three owned by the airline and the remaining four in operating leases.

The open skies regime of the country has not been beneficial for the national company of Moldova. While it allows it to increase its transit traffic to around 14 percent (particularly with respect to passenger transport between Russia and Ukraine, two conflicting nations that lack direct flight connections between them), liberalization has also led to a toughest competition.

Since Moldova is not a member of the EU, its national company is bound by international regulations for third and fourth freedom traffic rights, which means that all its flights must originate or end at the only international airport in Chisinau, a restriction not imposed on other European Airlines, the airline reasons.

Nor has the internal market served to alleviate the airline’s financial situation as European low-cost airlines are gaining ground and taking over the market. In 2017, it transported 1.13 million passengers, which restricted its participation in total traffic traveling through Chisinau to 45 percent. At the end of the first nine months of last year its net loss had accumulated to 7 million, while its accumulated debts increased from about $ 50 million in 2013 to 67 million in 2017.

Air Moldova operates three Embraer ERJ190, as well as the Airbus A319 and A320, two of each type. His plans for this year include receiving one or two additional aircraft and increasing traffic by 10 to 15 percent, but it is now for sale. A \ W

Boeing y el backlog de aeronaves

AW | 2018 08 07 13:37 |  INDUSTRY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Boeing and the aircraft backlog

Boeing-Logo.svg.pngBoeing commercial aircraft are building up outside of Renton’s facilities

The tension in the supply chain in Boeing is reflected by the increase in units parked without customers. There are forty Boeing 737 aircraft parked. The accumulation of Boeing aircraft in the facilities at Renton Airport, Washington does not specify what the exact problem is and apart from mentioning a sudden production emergency.

The Boeing 737 aircraft taking up space in the installation faster than it could be cleared continues to worry Boeing. The parking lot of the Boeing 737 is because Boeing’s production facilities in Renton only produce the Boeing 737 line.

Renton Airport shows some concern about a sudden production emergency that requires the use of a taxiway and limits the use of a runway at the airport. The fact that space was necessary points to unfinished aircraft piling up in the facility and Boeing needs additional space to park them.

Production increases

It is no secret that the supply chain is under significant stress after Boeing and Airbus announced plans to increase production almost every year until the end of the decade to support growing demand.

Resultado de imagen para assembly line Boeing 737

The tension is visible in the Boeing delivery pattern. At the beginning of the year, in February 2018, Boeing’s shares sank and we saw that a possible commercial war was being used as an explanation for the lower share prices. What really caused stock prices to sink was the fact that Boeing shared rather disappointing shipments for February, casting doubt on the company’s ability to meet expectations and increase production rates. Boeing eventually caught up in March to finish the quarter with a good grade.

The delivery volume during April 2018 was a bit relevant. Key programs for Boeing, namely Boeing 737, Boeing 787 and Boeing 777 showed deliveries below the production rate. The explanation for this is simple: Boeing ejected a large number of aircraft for delivery in March to bolster its first quarter results and we are now seeing how that affects delivery numbers in the following quarter. Lower deliveries could be somewhat indicative of production stress. We hope that, as in the last quarter, Boeing aims to repeat the same trick again, having maximum deliveries once every three months.

Early problems and delivery patterns were already a strong indication of tension in the supply chain and possible consequences for Boeing’s ability to efficiently launch aircraft to customers, but we also have some clear indications of the tension of the aircraft. manufacturers of key components in the supply chain.

In February 2018, Spirit AeroSystems deployed SWAT teams to address bottlenecks in its supply chain. In April, it became clear that Spirit AeroSystems, for the first time in 4 years, sent a shipment of Boeing 737 airframes late to Boeing’s facilities and that the Tier 1 supplier of May Boeing had deployed SWAT equipment to a dozen suppliers to solve the bottlenecks in the supply chain. In August, most of the delays had been eliminated, although some fuselages were still late.

CFM International, supplier of LEAP-1B turbofans for Boeing, LEAP-1A turbofans for Airbus turbofans and LEAP-1C for COMAC, said before this year’s Farnborough International Airshow that it faced a 6-week delay due to its chain of Supply was struggling to keep up with the CFM production rate of the turbofans.

What we’re really seeing is that Boeing really got the best of it to avoid delays with its key suppliers to get off the assembly line, but as Boeing has increased production to 52 aircraft per month in June last shipments of the supply chain Han Boeing results parking single-aisle aircraft without finishing off-site.

Staffing

Part of the problem is that there is a shortage of personnel in the supply chain, which has been addressed in part, but newly hired staff obviously have to go through the learning curve. For Boeing, the reduction in the number of unfinished aircraft is complicated in part by the shortage of personnel. So we are seeing that the shortage of personnel is a problem in the supply chain to withstand the higher production rate, while Boeing faces challenges to finish the plane at the parking place due to shortage. To a certain extent, we are seeing Boeing’s pressure on the supply chain and voluntary layoffs among its own staff that bite the aircraft manufacturer now, but we certainly do not believe that Boeing’s firings are to blame, it just means that we should get rid of the Unfinished planes are more challenging

Value of the aircraft

According to reports, there are a total of 43 aircraft that are stationed and awaiting completion. This does not compare to Airbus, which had more than 100 unfinished aircraft sitting on the asphalt, but it is still significant. Boeing pushes 52 aircraft per month, so 43 aircraft is 80% of the current production rate that has accumulated quite fast. The Boeing 737-8 MAX has a list price of US$ 117.1 million, which means that at list prices, the aircraft that remain inactive in the parking spaces in the Renton facilities have a value of US$ 5B. After the discounts, the planes have a value between US$ 2B and US$ 2.5B.

The challenges of Boeing

No doubt there are significant challenges for Boeing caused mainly by late shipments of airframes from Boeing’s key supplier, Spirit AeroSystems, and the delay due to supply chain problems with CFM. Boeing’s single aisle program contributes between 40-50% or Boeing’s Commercial Airplanes revenues, so losing the delivery goal is something that will certainly hurt the aircraft manufacturer and could be felt by investors.

Boeing began firing engineers and then offered early retirement to the people who actually assembled the aircraft and met the company inside and outside, and later began to put pressure on the supply chain to reduce costs and support higher production rates. That, to some extent, is biting Boeing now. The timing of this sudden accumulation of unfinished aircraft could not have been known to anyone, but that this could happen was evident. We hear about the challenges in the supply chain from the beginning of the year to the middle of the year, the problems are not yet completely resolved.

Boeing can still overcome the challenges, but having a pulse pattern where the peak output is once every 3 weeks is certainly not the most efficient way to launch an airplane. Boeing increased its market forecast for single-aisle jets, which seems to be supporting higher future production rates for single-aisle jets, but with Boeing and Airbus now having nearly 150 aircraft accumulating in the European and US tarmacs of the respective production facilities It is clear that even the smallest delays can cause major interruptions, especially if the production line continues to roll at a combined rate of almost 100 single aisle aircraft per month. The demand is certainly there. A \ W

ATR entrega aviones a IranAir

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

ATR delivers planes to IranAir

ATR Aircraft has delivered five additional regional aircraft to IranAir

Resultado de imagen para IranAir ATR 72-600ATR Aircraft confirmed on Monday that it delivered five turboprop aircraft ATR 72-600 to IranAir shortly before Washington imposed new sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran, but said it still faces difficulties in obtaining permission from the United States to deliver another seven aircraft in order.

Washington is ready to hit Tehran with economic sanctions after President Donald Trump in May 2018 came out of a nuclear pact between Tehran and the major world powers. His decision requires that most companies complete their ongoing business with Iran before the US sanctions are reimposed after a liquidation period that expired on August 6, 2018.

ATR has delivered thirteen ATR 72-600 aircraft to IranAir and seven others remain in order in suspension. «The next step will be to work to obtain an appropriate authorization from the US administration to guarantee a reasonable level of maintenance, we still have challenges to face with the rest of the aircraft originally intended for Iran, we will dedicate the remaining part of the year to execute our plans as planned», ATR said in a statement.

The five new ATR 72-600 aircraft landed at the Mehrabad Airport in Tehran after leaving Toulouse, France, where they were built, and refueling in Urmia, northwest Iran.

ATR, co-owner of Airbus and Leonard of Italy, has been pressuring US authorities to allow him to deliver the planes he built for Iran. After the signing of the agreement in 2015 to reopen the commercial links in exchange for Tehran reducing its nuclear activities, IranAir ordered a total of 200 aircraft from western aircraft manufacturers, including 20 to the Franco-Italian manufacturer ATR, which is based in Toulouse

However, few have been delivered and aircraft manufacturers say they can not use the liquidation period because Washington has also revoked the export licenses needed by all Western aircraft manufacturers due to the intensive use of US parts.

ATR pressured the US Treasury to allow it to take advantage of the normal settlement period of Iran’s business by granting it new temporary licenses.

Asghar Fakhrieh-Kashan, an adviser to Iran’s transport minister, said Iran paid for the five planes on Friday, a day before planes left France. «The delivery of these five aircraft is a sign of Europe’s commitment to the nuclear agreement».

The US decision on Iran has raised questions about whether ATR can achieve the goal of stabilizing annual deliveries on 80 aircraft by 2018. The aircraft maker has said it will suffer financial damages if it can not deliver the plane it has already produced after the previous US approvals, and is looking for alternative buyers.

Airbus, for its part, said last month it will not attempt to deliver more planes to Iran in the liquidation period. It has delivered only three of 100 orders by IranAir.

Boeing, which had sold 80 aircraft to IranAir under the 2015 nuclear agreement, does not plan any delivery. Unlike European companies, he never placed the Iranian deal on his official order book on the basis that he never received a deposit. A \ W
