Delta returns to Rio and São Paulo
Delta confirms return Rio—Atlanta/São Paulo—New York
Delta Air Lines already has a date to re-operate the routes Rio de Janeiro (GIG)—Atlanta and São Paulo (GRU)—New York (JFK). In February 2022, the North American airline will add these two frequencies to its network, which today has only one flight from Guarulhos Airport (SP) to Atlanta. Thus, even with a smaller offer, it resumes the three routes operated in the pre-pandemic period.
The General Manager of Delta in Brazil, Rodrigo Sienra, has announced that this Thursday, 08/26 he granted the reinstatements of flights to South America. According to the executive, the Rio-Atlanta route will be operated three times a week (3Frq/S) and São Paulo-New York will have five weekly flights (5Frq/S). «Obviously we still cannot say when they will become newspapers, but that is the intention», Rodrigo Sienra said, reiterating that the increase in supply will depend on the behavior of demand. Both flights are already available for sale. «We noticed better occupancy and more satisfactory indicators. But it has a big bottleneck even though it is the borders. The market saw an improvement in March and April, but the big improvement will occur when the borders are reopened», said Rodrigo Sienra.
