Bek Air’s new Fokker 100 arrived in its previous operator’s livery and was ferried to Ulyanovsk for painting

Bek Air takes delivery of eighth Fokker 100

Bek Air, a private Kazakh airline, has acquired one more Fokker 100, and now has eight aircraft of the type in its fleet. The airline announced its plans to expand the type’s fleet to 12 aircraft within the next two years.

The eighth Fokker 100 was delivered to Bek Air on financial lease, the airline’s spokesperson told Russian Aviation Insider. According to open sources the aircraft was produced in 1995. For operation in Kazakhstan it was registered with tail number UP-F1015. It is fitted with 108 seats, eight in business and 100 in economy class.

The aircraft was previously operated by carrier Sky Greenland. The airplane arrived at Kazakhstan on January 23 in the livery of its previous operator and was ferried to Ulyanovsk in Russia, where it will be repainted by Spektr-Avia company. The painting is expected to be completed in the first week of February and enter commercial service with Bek Air within one month.

With the new aircraft in its fleet Bek Air will use six aircraft for domestic flights. One more aircraft is operated outside the country. In 2016 it was operated by Afghani carrier Kam Air. Another aircraft stands as reserve.

Bek Air focuses mainly on domestic lines and positions itself as a Kazakh low-cost carrier. The carrier reported it had served 727,300 passengers in 2016, down 3.6% from the previous year, on 7,316 flights (down 18.7% year-on-year). “We still think the trend is a positive one, because the average load factor throughout 2016 was 92.09%,” Bek Air said.

In 2016, in an interview to Russian Aviation Insider Bek Air’s spokesperson mentioned that a general decline in traffic numbers was evident in Kazakhstan. “Because of devaluation of the national currency the Kazakhs’ purchase power decreased. So we had to shrink and close down some flight, which were not commercially viable,” he said. However, the company emphasized it was staying in the black.

The Civil Aviation Committee of the country’s Investment and Development Ministry has not yet published the official data on the industry’s 2016 results. In the period from January to September Kazakh airlines’ total traffic stood at 4.5 million passengers. A\W

https://i0.wp.com/www.boeing.com/resources/boeingdotcom/commercial/customers/norwegian-air-shuttle/assets/images/360/737max/rotate30.png

Norwegian will be 1st operator B737MAX

Norwegian leapfrogs Southwest as first 737 Max operator

Norwegian Air Shuttle said that it will be the first to take delivery of Boeing’s new 737 MAX airliner, jumping ahead of Southwest Airlines, the carrier confirmed Thursday. Being the first to take possession of the new jetliner is a sign of the fast-growing carrier’s increasing stature among the world’s airlines.

Resultado de imagen para norwegian Boeing 737 max

«Norwegian will now be the first airline to take delivery of the Boeing (BA) 737 Max and we will be the first airline in the world to operate this brand-new aircraft type,» an airline spokesman said in an email.

Norwegian said it will take delivery of the first of its Max jets in May and «then it will take a little time before it enters operation,» the spokesman added. The airline has ordered 100 of the jets.

But being the first comes with added challenges, as the first operator typically works out the early kinks of a new design. When Norwegian first took its 787 Dreamliner in 2013, its early operations were repeatedly disrupted by reliability issues with the advanced long-range airliner.

Norwegian plans to use the single-aisle 737 Max, with its increased range, to fly between Europe and smaller cities in the U.S. The low-cost airline’s long-haul operations from Europe are flown today with larger 787 Dreamliners.

The airline has been at the center of a fierce controversy with U.S. airlines and their labor unions over the Department of Transportation’s approval of the carrier’s ability to fly from Ireland to the U.S.. The unions claim Norwegian will undercut wages for U.S.-based pilots and cabin crews or hire less expensive non-U.S. crews while flying to America.

Southwest Airlines (LUV) was the first carrier to place a firm order for Boeing’s updated single-aisle jet back in December 2011 and has long been expected to take the first jet from the plane maker. Southwest said Thursday that it won’t take its first Max until July and it will start flying passengers on October 1.

Boeing’s chief executive Dennis Muilenburg said Wednesday that the Max, which has been in testing since January 2016, will deliver during the second quarter, but did not say which airline would take the first jet.

Southwest has faced obstacles getting the Max into its fleet, first facing a now-settled labor dispute with its pilots over pay on the aircraft and the compatibility of the fourth generation aircraft into its all-Boeing 737 fleet.

Southwest is the largest operator of 737 jets in the world, and was the first airline the last time Boeing introduced a new generation of its workhorse airliner in 1997.

Boeing holds orders for more than 3,400 737 Max jets, which feature a pair of new engines and aerodynamic updates to cut fuel consumption by 14%. A\W

The next batch of  American Airlines  Boeing 737 Max jets will not have seatback screens.

AW | 2017 01 27 09:47 | AIRLINES

American Airlines is ditching seatback screens in its new planes

In-flight boredom can often be soothed by the screen planted on the seat before you. But that small luxury will soon be nixed from a set of new jets from American Airlines.

Instead, the company said, passengers can just bring their laptops, phones and other gadgets if they need a little entertainment on the journey.

100 new Boeing 737 Max jets debuting on routes later in 2017 won’t have any screens because, according to American Airlines, they’re just not needed any more. The company reports that 90 percent of the people on board American flights bring their own screens, according to a statement emailed to Mashable.

By providing a strong Wi-Fi connection, the airline says its customers’ needs should be met — a tactic also being used by United Airlines on its single-aisle jets. The seatback screens will still remain on some American aircraft, particularly for international flights.

The airline will offer «free streaming [of] high-quality movies and music» aboard flights and is investing in «fast satellite-based internet access and power at every seat across our domestic fleet.»

«Every customer with a phone, tablet or laptop will be able to watch free movies and TV shows from our extensive on-board library, as well as free live television channels, all without purchasing an in-flight internet connection,» the statement reads. So just make sure you don’t forget the gadgets — and keep them in your hand luggage. A\W

The Norwegian airline took the first step to settle in Argentina

This Thursday, 26 was published in the Official Gazette the constitution of a company; The low cost has not yet been ordered routes for a public hearing

It is a small first step to constitute a company, but fundamental. Norwegian Air, the Norwegian company of low cost, settled a society in the country that could be the beginning of a process that finally, finished in its disembarkation in Argentina.

The novelty was published in today’s issue of the Official Gazette and it shows how the vehicle to channel the investment. Norwegian Air Argentina is a joint-stock company that was set up with two partners. They are two lawyers, Matías Cambiaso and Diego Ferrari, partners of a legal study that bears his name.

Of course neither of them is the real owner of the company, but it is one of the most common ways of setting up a company to start filing proceedings. In case the operation is finally decided in the country, the inverter vehicle is already prepared.

The eventual arrival of the company is not an additional data for the commercial air market. Norwegian was founded in 1993, has more than 130 aircraft in its fleet and is currently the third largest, low cost airline in Europe. It has approximately 7000 employees and 400 routes to more than 130 destinations in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, Thailand, the Caribbean and the United States. In 2015, Norwegian flew nearly 26 million passengers, more than double the entire air passenger market in Argentina.

According to the official publication, the company has as its object «operations relating to aircraft and the aeronautical industry», such as purchase, sale, exchange, import, export, own or third party maintenance of own or third party aircraft. Also included in the corporate purpose are air transport and the operation of schools of instruction and workshops. The capital stock is 100,000 pesos, divided into 100,000 common shares of one peso each and entitled to one vote per share.

A delegation led by Bjorn Kjos, owner and CEO of the airline arrived in the country. He then met with executives from the Eurnekian group and met with Transport Minister Guillermo Dietrich. In principle, they suggested the arrival of a flight from the Nordic country with a Boeing 787 to Ezeiza. For that, they consider, it is necessary that some international agreements between Argentina and Norway are updated.

The Norwegian businessman visited, on the plane of Eurnekian, Puerto Madryn and Cordoba. Then there was the idea of entering the local cabotage. Of course, that is why you must register and register airplanes in the country. Today took the first step. A\W

Seguridad trafico pax en Argentina

AW | 2017 01 26 13:03 | AIR TRAFFIC

The security measures that the Government of Argentina will implement in the airlines that operate in the country

The Government will ask companies to report passenger data for each flight. How the Advance Passenger Information System (API) will work

The decree to tighten immigration controls will have a special provision to be adopted by airlines operating in Argentina: from the publication of the standard in the Official Gazette, will begin to govern for flights entering the country the obligation to inform The Advance Passenger Information System (API) data.

With the exception of Argentine citizens, legal permanent residents and resident foreigners, each passenger entering or leaving the country via an airline must inform before boarding the flight of his full name, sex, date of birth, nationality, country of residence, date of expiration And country of issue of passport and destination address, and that information must be submitted to the Argentine authorities.

The Government’s objective will be to cross-check this data with an Interpol information system to establish whether a person is required by the national or other justice system and thus refuse entry to Argentina. «What we have to do is create information, especially at border crossings,» said Migration Director Horacio García in a dialogue with Infobae.

«Everything we are doing is related to security. No country would have a person who has a conviction or a well-founded suspicion that, for example, he is a potential terrorist,» the official added.

The API System works in many countries, including the United Kingdom, Mexico, Portugal, the United States, France, Canada and Japan. Passengers who refuse to provide API information will be denied entry to the country and, therefore, will not be allowed to travel.

Today, at 15, Interior Minister Rogelio Frigerio, along with Garcia, will advance the operation of the new system in the National Directorate of Migration, Antarctica Argentina 1355.

Another tool that the Executive will seek to implement will be the Passenger Name Record (PNR), which includes data such as passenger name, flight dates, itineraries, seats, luggage, contact information and means of payment. At present, the European Parliament is moving forward with a directive to regulate the transfer of this data from air carriers to the national authorities, as well as the processing of such data by air carriers. A\W

Ajustes en Aerolíneas Argentinas

aeropuertocordoba-blogspot-com-ar-jpg068

AW | 2017 01 25 14:22 | AIRLINES

Adjustments in Aerolíneas Argentinas

That seems to be the signal that is being handled within the air policy of the flag company

Layoffs, closing of offices and more adjustment. The new director of the flag airline will launch the plan designed from Casa Rosada which also includes staff reduction.

A little more than a month after the departure of Isela Costantini from Aerolineas Argentinas, the new president of the company Mario Dell’Acqua launched the adjustment plan that they requested from the Casa Rosada.

According to published scope.com, the adjustment in AR will begin with the closing or removal of branches in country and abroad and the displacement of hundreds of workers. «They lowered the line to reduce personnel,» confessed a senior executive with access to the offices where the company’s commercial policy is resolved. «There is a gradual adjustment of personnel,» he said, after requesting the anonymity of his identity to avoid reprisals.

Until mid-2016 Airlines had a workforce of 12,040 workers in the world. But the «small table» of the economic cabinet that comprise Marcos Peña, Mario Quintana and Gustavo Lopetegui demanded to reduce it by 25%. The argument is known: budget deficit. This plan is not new. Costantini received it hardly took over, but resisted its implementation in depth and left. The mission of former Techint Dell’Acqua is very clear. From now on, he will insist on voluntary withdrawals and early retirements, even if denied by the airline.

Details of the renewed adjustment were transmitted to key managers at a meeting held on Monday, January 9 in an AA conference room at Jorge Newbery Airport. «Let’s go to Aeroparque», they say between managers whenever there is a conclave. It was a formal presentation of the new driving and working guidelines. «You have to reduce the number (of employees)», provided the main speaker.

During the management of Costantiniunos 800 workers accepted compensation and left their posts. Pilots, mechanics, administrators and sales officers were dismissed in that lot.

The branches that no longer operate or will cease to do in the country are those of Bariloche, Puerto Iguazú, San Isidro and the Cabildo and Congress, which for days has already closed its doors. In Europe they would order to lower the blinds, to move or to sell the furniture of the offices of Rome and Madrid. They could also deactivate the attention to the public by counter in some of the main cities of Latin America. «They generate a lot of spending in dollars,» he argued at the meeting, with the cost sheets abroad on the table.

Another strategy to reduce the deficit is to unify subsidiaries, as expected with Resistencia and Corrientes. «In 2016, it involved efficiency in the optimization of resources, which implied a new organization of the entire commercial structure of the company, grouping the different commercial offices into seven regions,» Marcó explained.

«The company is in a process of efficiency, and that means doing analysis to generate a optimization of resources, which will enable it to achieve zero deficit in the coming years, which is a goal that is maintained» with the new driving, Marcó explained.

The fate of the company’s properties is still uncertain. The objective would be to hang up posters for rent or sell, as was done with some floors of the tower of AR of Peru and Rivadavia. But there are properties that are not yet available, such as the one in Bariloche, which by an agreement with the municipality was at the hands of the local Tourism Secretariat and Emprotur.

In Rio Negro the headquarters of Viedma and General Roca would remain, but no longer as branches, with all the variants of operations. A\W

El Consejo elimina propuesta vuelos internacionales en Long Beach

Long-Beach-Airport-Jet-Blue-planes.jpg

AW | 2017 01 25 12:10 | AIRPORTS

«He escuchado muchas preocupaciones de mucha gente», dijo Mungo.

Long Beach Council kills proposal for international flights at Airport

Fifth District Councilwoman Stacy Mungo punctured any hope of international flights at Long Beach Airport at the beginning of Tuesday night’s meeting by saying she did not want to move forward with the process.

Mungo’s district includes the airport and surrounding neighborhoods. She has supported a study about the potential for a federal customs facility at the airport. JetBlue Airways, the primary carrier there, had requested in 2015 that the city ask the FAA for that facility.

After a short presentation from airport director Jess Romo, including a smaller facility with limited hours, Mungo asked questions about the possible economic impact and costs of such a facility.

“I have heard a lot of concerns from a lot of people,” Mungo said. “I’ve looked at the potential economic impacts, and don’t believe they justify potentially impacting the residents’ quality of life.”

Mungo then made a motion to receive and file the staff recommendation, meaning that the issue would not go forward.

Third District Councilwoman Suzie Price seconded the motion, also citing the number of residents who had expressed concerns and fear about the consequences.

“JetBlue is a tremendous partner to the city,” Price said. “This is no reflection on JetBlue. This decision is about the residents in this city, not just one business.”

Price also thanked the three councilmen who have consistently opposed the plan — Fourth District Councilman Daryl Supernaw, Seventh District Councilman Roberto Uranga and Eighth District Councilman Al Austin. With Mungo and Price’s votes, that made the result a forgone conclusion.

Still, there was two hours and 15 minutes of public comment, primarily opposed to the concept of international flights. Once those comments were complete, Austin said it was a demonstration of the process working.

“It has been a long and arduous process,” Austin said. “But it shows that we are a community, that we are a city… I want to salute my colleagues for taking this issue to heart. I think we have grown through this issue… I think I will be celebrating with my constituents tonight.” A\W
