Nuevas restricciones Argentina no afectarían vuelos y turismo
New restrictions Argentina
New Argentina restrictions would not affect flights and tourism
The Presidency of the Argentine Republic has announced on the night of Wednesday 04/14 a new series of restrictions on economic activities and mobility that will be applied in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA), which will restrict night traffic between the 08:00 p.m. and 06:00 a.m., while all recreational, social, cultural, sports and religious activities that take place in closed places will be suspended, with the aim of stopping the second wave of COVID-19 infections that began to gain strength in the last two weeks in the country. The measures will be applied provisionally until 04/31. Each provincial jurisdiction must choose whether to follow these national mandates or establish its own.
Air connectivity
The airlines will not be affected by the new measures reached. Meanwhile, the ANAC and the Ministry of Transportation of Argentina do not expect new modifications to the cabotage air traffic. The new restrictions that apply to the AMBA area imply that passengers who have to mobilize between the hours of 20: 00-06: 00 hs should obtain the circulation permit through the App Take care with the flight reservation as a requirement to circulate.
Tourism in Argentina
Domestic tourism once again avoids the restrictions of the measures implemented by the Government of Argentina. After two consecutive days with more than 25,000 new positive cases of COVID-19 and the health system at risk of collapse, the Government of Argentina has announced a new package of restrictive measures, but focused on the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, which is the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA). In an attempt to sustain the damaged economy, the new restrictions will not affect domestic travel, but the hours of bars and restaurants will be further cut; all social events are prohibited; and recreational activities are closed, as well as group trips. In terms of international flights, the frequencies were reduced at the beginning of April 2021, due to the non-authorization of numerous operations requested by the companies. Today, anyone can leave Argentina, but only residents and non-residents who prove to be essential workers, diplomats or travelers by force majeure can enter.
Avianca expects bankruptcy in 2021
Colombian airline plans to refinance part of its debt
The airline Avianca Airlines has announced this Wednesday 04/14 through its parent company Avianca Holdings, that it expects to exit its restructuring process under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Law this year 2021 and that it will refinance part of its debt in Actions. During the financial restructuring process under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Law, Avianca received more than US$ 1.8 billion in new financing that would be refinanced. Avianca expects to emerge from the Chapter 11 process during 2021. As part of this process, Avianca plans to obtain financing corresponding to debt and equity to refinance approximately 1,400 million Dollars, the company said in a communication to the Financial Superintendence of Colombia.
Colombia’s flagship airline assured that it will also provide US$ 400 million in incremental liquidity to meet its goal of having US$ 1 billion of liquidity available at the time of Chapter 11 exit. In accordance with the plan, Avianca it would convert US$ 902 million of that debt into equity and raise new funds to replace the remaining debt, which would include new equity. Avianca also assured that it has made significant progress in its fleet simplification and cost reduction program, which it believes will result in an overall reduction of more than US$ 2 billion in debt related to its aircraft and leases during the period between March 2020 and December 31, 2022.
The airline’s loss increased by 22.4% to US$ 1,094 million in 2020 due to the paralysis of the global passenger airline industry caused by the COVID-19 pandemic that caused a year-on-year contraction of its operation by 74 %. Avianca Airlines, along with its rival Latam Airlines, were the two largest airlines in the region before the pandemic, but both underwent a restructuring when the virus hit the airline sector due to mobility restrictions that were especially harsh in America.
New doses of vaccines arrive in Argentina
Argentina acquires 864,000 vaccines this Sunday 04/18
After several days of uncertainty, the Government of Argentina has confirmed the arrival of more doses of vaccines this weekend. Next Sunday 04/18 a batch with 864,000 AstraZeneca vaccines, through the COVAX mechanism. The new doses will arrive from Amsterdam, the Netherlands on a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight. The vaccines will be transported to the country in the hold of the plane, together with the passengers’ luggage.
In principle, an Aerolineas Argentinas flight to Madrid was to go to find the vaccines in Amsterdam and return directly to Argentina, only with the departure of the doses. After evaluating the costs and because they take up little space in the warehouse and need a temperature between 1º and 2º, it was decided to transfer them on a regular KLM flight, which connects that European city with Buenos Aires. The flight is scheduled to arrive between 06:00 and 07:00 in the morning of this Sunday 04/18.
The last flight with a shipment of vaccines to arrive in Argentina was 10 days ago. The eleventh flight carried out on 04/04 brought 497,745 doses of Sputnik V which remained four days in Moscow. That same week Argentina received just over 2 million vaccines. 218,400 doses of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines arrived from the Covax mechanism; 300,000 Sputnik V, of which 250,000 belonged to component 1 and 50,000 to component 2; and a million doses of Sinopharm. With that amount, 7 million vaccines were exceeded.

Boeing capitalization forecast
Boeing foresees sufficient capital for aviation finance
The Boeing Company has announced that the global and diversified financing projection will continue to flow into the aircraft financing sector as the aviation sector navigates the global pandemic and vaccine deployment continues to accelerate. «Financiers and investors understand the industry’s resilience and the long-term fundamentals that make aircraft a valuable asset class. Despite the unprecedented impacts of COVID-19 on the global aerospace industry, liquidity generally remains in the market for our customers, and we expect it to improve further as travel begins to rebound», said Tim Myers, President of Boeing Capital Corporation.
CAFMO 2021
The 2021 Current Aircraft Financial Market Outlook (CAFMO), the first published since 2019, reflects Boeing’s short-term view of market dynamics and assesses funding sources for new commercial aircraft deliveries. Due to the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, CAFMO 2021 excludes its usual one-year and five-year industry funding projections. «Industry fundamentals continue to show different degrees of strength in different markets depending on regional trends from the global pandemic. We expect capital to continue to be pulled into the sector by established players and as new entrants seek opportunities during the recovery of the industry», said Tim Myers.
BOEING ANALYSIS OF THE CURRENT AIRCRAFT FINANCING ENVIRONMENT
The 2021 CAFMO reports that the aircraft financing environment ended 2020 with sufficient liquidity to finance deliveries, but with tensions particularly in the bank debt and equity markets. CAFMO 2021, an introductory video and regional funding data is available at www.boeing.com/CAFMO. Some highlights include the following: Industry-wide, commercial aircraft delivery financing volume totaled US$ 59 billion, a 40% decrease from 2019 levels. Major sources of delivery financing Boeing’s assets were cash, bank debt, and capital markets, and 100% of Boeing’s deliveries were financed by third parties. Aircraft lessors executed a significant volume of sale-lease transactions, and the leased fleet across the industry rose to 46%. Capital markets for aviation volumes were 70% higher than in 2019. Commercial banks reinforced the aviation industry’s need for liquidity early in the pandemic, but long-term bank debt became one of the least used forms of financing. Institutional investors and funds continued to seek exposure to aviation, increasing as some financiers stopped and the sector’s credit spreads widened. Export credit agencies remain a small but important source of finance during the pandemic. Credit-enhanced financing saw further progress as a source of supplemental financing, totaled 4% of the financing mix for Boeing deliveries.
The Boeing 2020 Commercial Market Outlook, is a twenty-year annual forecast that addresses the aircraft and commercial services market, projects passenger traffic growth at an average rate of 4% per year. Although Boeing’s total aircraft orders fell by roughly 800 aircraft in the past 12 months, abruptly ending the company’s notable sales successes in the previous decade, the global commercial fleet is expected to reach 48,400 by 2039, down from to the current 25,900 aircraft.
