Aerolínea Virgin Australia amplía diez Boeing 737-800
Virgin Aistralia Airlines ha anunciado la incorporación a su flota de diez Boeing 737-800 para mejorar su posición para competir contra Qantas Airways y restablecer vuelos a Nueva Zelandia. La aerolínea reforzará su flota con la incorporación de más unidades de fuselaje estrecho en los próximos meses mientras la aerolínea mira un repunte de la demanda interna y un reinicio de los vuelos de Nueva Zelandia. Todos los aviones han sido arrendados de nuevo a los anteriores arrendadores que suministraron los mismos aviones. La aerolínea de presupuesto había entrado en Administración en Abril de 2020, tras su proceso compadecía los embates de la crisis sanitaria mundial.
Los tres primeros Boeing 737-800 se reincorporarán a Virgin este mes de Abril 2021, y el resto llegará progresivamente hasta Octubre 2021. Virgin dice que también lanzará una campaña de reclutamiento para cubrir más de 150 puestos adicionales de tripulación de cabina, además de traer de vuelta a unas 220 tripulantes de cabina que previamente se retiraron. «Más aviones significan más vuelos, y con la flexibilización de las restricciones de viaje, hay más oportunidades para apoyar aún más el turismo nacional y la recuperación económica de la nación de COVID-19», dice Jayne Hrdlicka, CEO de Virgin Australia Group.
Restableciendo conexiones
Tras las nuevas flexibilidades de los viajes, a partir del Lunes 19 de Abril de 2021, dejando el mercado trans-Tasman a Qantas Airways y Air New Zealand, la compañía reiniciará los vuelos hacia Nueva Zelandia, que incluirá inclusive rutas hacia Fiji y Bali. Los planes actuales de la aerolínea en Nueva Zelanda verán reanudar la mayoría de los servicios a las Islas Turbias el 31 de Octubre de 2021.

Virgin Australia Airlines has announced the addition of ten Boeing 737-800s to its fleet to improve its position to compete against Qantas Airways and re-establish flights to New Zealand. The airline will strengthen its fleet with the addition of more narrow-body units in the coming months as the airline watches a pickup in domestic demand and a restart of New Zealand flights. All aircraft have been leased back to previous lessors who supplied the same aircraft. The budget airline had entered Administration in April 2020, after its process it felt sorry for the onslaught of the global health crisis.
The first three Boeing 737-800s will rejoin Virgin this April 2021, with the remainder progressing through October 2021. Virgin says it will also launch a recruiting drive to fill more than 150 additional cabin crew positions, in addition to bringing back to some 220 cabin crew who previously retired. «More aircraft means more flights, and with travel restrictions easing, there are more opportunities to further support domestic tourism and the nation’s economic recovery from COVID-19», says Jayne Hrdlicka, CEO of Virgin Australia Group.
Resetting connections
Following the new travel flexibilities, starting Monday April 19, 2021, leaving the trans-Tasman market to Qantas Airways and Air New Zealand, the company will restart flights to New Zealand, which will include routes to Fiji and Bali. The airline’s current plans in New Zealand will see most services to the Turbid Islands resume on October 31, 2021.
