Boeing / Etihad Airways alianza pruebas innovaciones ecoDemonstrator

JetSmart Argentina ops awarded at Aeroparque

ANAC Argentina approves JetSmart ops at Jorge Newbery Airport

The company Jetsmart Airlines Argentina has recently received approvals to operate at the Jorge Newbery Regional Airport in Buenos Aires. After the appeal that he had requested before the Justice in order to be able to operate from Aeroparque the routes that he acquired from Norwegian Air Argentina as well as other assets, when this company decided to exit the Argentine air market. Among the assets and rights are the permits for slots or time slots at the Aeroparque that were part of the determinations of the “Consolidation Agreement for the Operation of Air Services” that both companies signed on December 4, 2019 and that the ANAC approved two days later.

Favorable ruling

The Justice of Argentina has favorably ruled the company JetSmart Argentina allowing to obtain the benefits of returning to operate from the Jorge Newbery Airport. The main points of the resolution establish that you can commercialize the codeshare flights on a reciprocal basis, with Jetsmart being able to commercialize Norwegian Air flights; make indiscriminate use of the bases of operations and mooring of both air operators; and replace Aeroparque-based Norwegian Air Argentina Boeing 737-800 aircraft with Jetsmart’s Airbus 320-200 fleet. Thus, the Government must approve operations with this type of aircraft as soon as possible.

El Palomar

Regarding the operations that they maintain at El Palomar International Airport, the budget airline continues with the request to AA2000 to cancel the proposal to close and cease activities at the low cost airport for commercial operations, where it has its base of operations. , together with Flybondi Airlines. Meanwhile the issue is defined, Aeroparque will continue to be closed for works until November 30, 2020.

AW | 2020 07 18 20:07 | AIRLINES

Aerolíneas advances with retro design in Boeing 737-700 aircraft

Aerolíneas Argentinas has been planning the retro design of an aircraft in its fleet. Particularly the Boeing 737-700 with registration LV-GOO, which is entering the C-Check maintenance in the FAdeA workshops. The idea of incorporating a retro image into a unit of the company’s planes has been around when the airline ordered the Boeing 737-8 MAX. Almost upon the arrival of the four units of the last generation of the 737, Aerolíneas would design the retro look that had been used between the decades 1970-1980, the livery of the two blue and light blue bands in the fuselage and the two AAs at the helm of direction.

70th Anniversaries

The new image is assigned for the commemoration of the 70th Anniversaries of Aerolíneas Argentinas with the start of aero-commercial operations. The ancient livery assigned to the aircraft fleet is an old desire of the company to capture as it is the custom in the world’s airlines to honor the history of the company’s past. Soon when the opening of aviation begins in Argentina, we will surely be able to see the Boeing 737-700 with the old colors of the once flagship company of the condor, the majestic lord of the skies of South America.

British anticipa retiro 747 Jumbo

British anticipates 747 Jumbo recall

British Airways is retiring its Boeing 747 fleet four years earlier

British Airways (BA) is withdrawing its fleet of 31 Boeing 747s four years ahead of forecast due to a sustained drop in global air travel due to the effects of the pandemic. «It is with great sadness that we can confirm that we are proposing to withdraw our entire 747 fleet with immediate effect», British Airways, the world’s largest operator of the 747-400, said in a statement on Friday 17/07.

The iconic Jumbo Jet has been one of the world’s most popular jets, but Boeing has not built a passenger version since it delivered the last one to Korean Airlines in 2017. Airbus had launched its direct competitor the A380, but the fate of this megaplane It has not lived up to expectations as airlines moved away from large aircraft in favor of smaller, more fuel efficient aircraft.

Airlines pursue profitability

The current global pandemic has forced airlines to restructure to save money like never before, as it has a direct impact on the aviation industry, which is why many airlines are cutting the size of their fleets and scrapping older aircraft. Delta Air Lines was the last U.S. airline to fly a passenger version of the plane, in 2017.

At its peak, British Airways had a fleet of 57 Boeing 747-400s, having received its first delivery of the aircraft in 1989. It had originally planned to withdraw the last aircraft in 2024. «It is unlikely that our magnificent ‘Queen of Heaven ‘Re-operate commercial services for British Airways due to the slowdown in travel caused by the global Covid-19 pandemic. While the plane will always have a special place in our hearts, as we head into the future, we will operate more flights on modern, fuel-efficient aircraft, such as our new A350s and 787s, to help us achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050», British Airways said.

The British Airways Queen of the Skies 747 in pictures

World 747 fleet

There are currently 171 Boeing 747s of the passenger versions that still fly in the companies’ fleets worldwide, and only 27 of them are now in use, according to Cirium Fleets, a research firm that tracks commercial aircraft. Since global air travel is not expected to recover for several years, many of those ground planes will never return to service.

British Airways’ announcement of Friday 17/07 does not signify the end of an era in Jumbo transatlantic travel. Lufthansa has 10 Boeing 747-400 and 19 Boeing 747-8, the most modern version of its fleet. A spokesperson said the carrier continues to operate the plane, especially 747-8s, on routes in North America and Asia and other long-distance destinations. American cargo airline Atlas Air is now the largest single operator of 747, with a fleet of 39 units.

Boeing delivered the first 747 passenger aircraft in December 1969. The aircraft maker has continued to build a cargo version of the 747, but at a very slow pace with a decrease in orders that could end the 747 cargo line. Boeing has just 12 remaining firm orders from UPS Airlines and three orders for a Russian cargo carrier that are no longer secure enough to feature in its order book.

The pandemic has led Boeing to cut costs and cut 16,000 jobs in the worst recession the aerospace industry has seen, and along with the effects of the global health crisis, the end of the Queen of the skies, a giant that continues to resist to die.

American WARN a 25.000 empleados

AW | 2020 07 17 12:09 | AIRLINES

Programa Early-Out

American sends WARN notices to 25,000 employees

American Airlines sends Warn Notices to personnel

American Airlines has communicated dismissal notices (WARN) to around 25,000 company employees. After warning of over-staffing as a result of the global pandemic, the letter that was shared by American on social media suggests that the airline could cut 37 percent of its flight attendants and 36 percent of its staff. of passenger services.

American Airlines is preparing to cut up to 25,000 people from its workforce, with most of the cuts coming from the stewardess and the passenger service corps. In a letter shared on social media by a spokesperson for the Fort Worth, Texas-based airline, he had communicated that layoff notices could be imminent.

In June 2020, an internal note sent by US executives said the airline could have an excess staff of up to 20,000 people, including 8,000 flight attendants. But the lack of sales and passenger demand suggests that the necessary cuts could be much deeper than anticipated. In the internal message from US CEO Doug Parker and Robert Isom, they say the cuts are directly related to the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic. While the team says they tried to avoid staff cuts by accepting CARES Act Payroll Support Program funds, a lack of passenger traffic and a prolonged sales slump require the cuts. «We currently anticipate having 20,000 more team members on the payroll than we will need to operate our smallest schedule this fall. For our airports and technology operations teams, we are also counting the displacements that could occur as team members become they move to other places, so those potentially affected people are included in the WARN (Worker Training and Adjustment Notification Act) notice process. Using those guidelines, we will issue WARN notices to approximately 25,000 team members», the team wrote. of leadership in the message. Among the different operational areas, 9,950 flight attendants and 2,500 pilots will receive warnings from WARN. If the total number of employees is eliminated, this would reflect a cut of 37 percent of all flight attendants and 18 percent of all pilots.

Fleet services employees will receive 4,500 WARN notices, while 3,200 maintenance workers are also listed.

Early-Out Program

To minimize the number of layoffs, American offers two voluntary employee leave programs. Workers are offered an extended leave program or early retirement plan for those qualified. The «Early-Out» program is available to employees with 10 years of occupational seniority. The plan will offer up to US$ 150,000 in retiree health reimbursement funds, along with positive travel benefits. Those less than 10 years old may qualify for a smaller package, which includes health insurance and travel privileges with no income for a period of time.

The extended leave program is available to affected employees, with options for a 15, 18 or 24 month leave. The plans include health insurance coverage and partial payment for some employees.

The airline is also providing support behind a union-led campaign to extend the Payroll Support Program. Although they will not participate, American is encouraging employees to work with union leaders to continue pressing Capitol Hill to extend the program.

WARN LAW: The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act helps ensure advance notice in cases of qualified plant closings and mass layoffs. The U.S. Department of Labor has compliance assistance materials to help workers and employers understand their rights and responsibilities under the provisions of WARN.

Aeroparque apertura sin exclusividad

AW | 2020 07 17 09:33 | AIRPORTS / AIRLINES

Aeropark opening without exclusivity

Jorge Newbery Airport will operate federally

The Argentine Justice, although it was not issued on the merits of the matter, decided that Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, the Aeroparque concessionaire, allows the plurality of airline operations at the Jorge Newbery Airport (Aeroparque).

Behind the political background, the long-standing desire that Aerolineas Argentinas/Austral Líneas Aéreas could operate almost exclusively in Aeroparque, monopolizing the largest percentage of slots and positioning the largest hangars, has been brewing for a long time.

Aerolineas Argentinas dream of fulfilling an old dream does not seem to take place in an air market that seeks plurality of services through supply and demand. Despite always seeking that advantage, the state company will not be able to use the Airport exclusively. Before the pandemic, the companies that operate are Aerolineas/Austral, JetSmart Airlines Argentina that operates with the Boeing 737-800 aircraft of ex-Norwegian Air Argentina, Flyest airlines, Andes Airlines, among others.

With the announcement of the departure of Latam Airlines Argentina, the availability of slot permits at Aeroparque has increased, with the possibility that more airlines may operate. Meanwhile, Justice should issue the matter shortly, requesting Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 (AA2000), the Aeroparque concessionaire, to allow the operation of several airlines.

Aeroparque will be closed for spare parts until the end of 11/2020 and the commercial operations between September to November will move to the Ezeiza International Airport. As of December 2020, the operations of the Jorge Newbery Airport will reopen and with it it would be expected that the largest air traffic station in Argentina is not usurp by exclusivity, but rather to fight for a diversified, more democratic and federal.
