Kansas City International Airport (KCI) restarts ops after tornado passage

The Kansas City International Airport (KCI) will resume operations today Wednesday May 29, 2019 in the morning, after it was closed for more than five hours by the passage of a tornado and dislodged and spread debris at the airport on Tuesday night.

The Kansas City International Airport (KCI) was closed for more than five hours after the tornado debris fell at the airport, according to KCI. KCI spokesman Joe McBride says the airport was closed from 7 the previous night until 12:15 in the morning. «It all started around 7 pm when there was a tornado that seemed to be falling at the Kansas City International Airport and we actually evacuated the terminals and took the people (passengers and employees of KCI) to take refuge in the tunnels», McBride said.

KCI officials say thousands of pieces of tornado fell on airport property. Equipment to remove the debris was brought, which KCI says was presumed to have been caused by tornado damage some 47 miles away in Linwood, Kansas. All the debris had to be cleaned by the crews, before KCI could reopen and the air service could resume. McBride says the Missourinet crews had to clean 15 million square feet of airfield. «We had to bring equipment back and some of the things, it could be a big panel of a barn or something, you have to pick that up, throw it in a truck and then come back with the smaller things with a big broom that is used for the snow removal», says McBride.

KCI officials emphasize the importance of safety, saying that the damage of foreign objects to an airplane can cause a catastrophe. McBride says that the international service was also affected by the closure. «We even had an Iceland Air flight flying from Iceland that was diverted to Wichita. Those people really wonder what’s going on», says McBride.

The huge KCI complex covers more than 10,000 acres, and the KCI website notes that the three terminals at the airport are more than a third of a mile long. A \ W

20150215-logo-faa_1.jpgThe FAA determines that the Boeing 737 MAX will continue to be revised, extending the ground time

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has delayed recertification of the Boeing 737 MAX model. The return of the Boeing 737 MAX to the commercial service of the airline is being further delayed by the aviation security control agencies.

Boeing-Logo.svgUS government officials reported that the FAA is evaluating emergency procedures not only for the 737 MAX, but also for the older generations of the 737, including the Boeing 737NG Next Generation. According to the officials, the extended evaluation will analyze how the pilots of the 737 variants are instructed to respond to emergency situations. «While we work with the FAA to review all procedures, the safety of the 737NG is not in doubt, with its more than 20 years of service and 200 million flight hours», a Boeing spokesman said in a statement.

The Boeing 737NG is the third generation of the 737 and entered service for the first time in 1997 with Southwest Airlines. It remains in production today. The Next Generation, includes the Boeing 737-600, 737-700, 737-800 and 737-900/900ER.

With more than 5,000 aircraft sold in recent years, the 737 MAX is the best-selling aircraft in the history of Boeing. One of Boeing’s strongest selling points for the 737 MAX is its similarity to the NG, which makes operations cheaper for airlines because they do not have to retrain their 737 pilots.

The main problem for Boeing and the regulators of the industry is the flight system that is activated by a sensor called MCAS, or the Maneuver Characteristics Increase System, it is a new control system that is on board the 737 MAX and that it was not revealed to the airlines or the pilots until the Lion Air accident in October 2018. Boeing confirmed in April 2019 that erroneous readings from the angle of attack (AOA) sensors were malfunctioning due to Lion Air accidents and Ethiopian Airlines.

AW-7000000.pngSoftware updates

In March 2019, Boeing released a series of proposed software updates designed to reverse the intrusion of the MCAS, along with additional pilot training on the differences between the previous generation of 737 NG and the 737 MAX. All 371 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in operation have been on the ground around the world since March 13, 2019 after the Lion JT-610 and Ethiopian Airlines ET-302 crashes, which took place with a difference of five months. A total of 342 passengers and crew died in the two crashes.

FAA Meeting/Delegations

After a one-day meeting with official aviation security colleagues from around the world, the Chief of the Federal Aviation Administration is more optimistic about the efforts to approve a solution to Boeing’s 737 MAX problem, implying that the FAA could re-certify the plane for passengers to fly again as early as the end of June 2019.

FAA interim administrator Daniel Elwell told reporters he will not yet commit to any timetable for his agency to approve software updates proposed by Boeing to an automated flight control system on the plane. Elwell insists that the recertification process will be thorough and robust. «The public can trust that the FAA will not allow the 737 MAX to fly again in the United States until it is safe to do so, I’m not going in the schedule, the only time we have is the analysis that says the MAX is good to fly and safe to fly», said Elwell.

Elwell made the comments Thursday after the FAA organized a summit meeting at the FAA regional office in Fort Worth, Texas, for aviation regulators from more than 30 countries. The meeting was designed to allow security officers to share technical information and develop plans to review the Boeing software fixes for the 737 MAX before the plane returns to fly.

The FAA was one of the last regulatory agencies to land the plane. That slowness in issuing the request and the critics’ questions about how thorough and independent the FAA’s initial certification process was was a tense relationship between the FAA and some of its counterparts in other countries. The acting administrator of the FAA left the meeting with the other security officers saying that he is very encouraged because the world’s aviation authorities can work together to ensure that the plane is safe when passengers are allowed to fly again. «This was truly an extraordinary day, unprecedented in my career, extremely positive, extremely constructive and productive», Elwell told reporters after the meeting.

Elwell says that as the country that first certified the design of the 737 MAX, it was naturally the United States and will be the first to review and certify Boeing’s software changes. It says that the process of conducting test flights and reviewing the data could take between three and four weeks once the company submits a formal request for review. That is expected to happen at any time within the next few days. It may still be several weeks after recertification of the aircraft’s FAA before airlines can return the aircraft to service. Southwest, American and United, the only US airlines that currently have MAX in their fleets, all say they would need time to download and deploy the software solution, train the pilots and take the aircraft out of storage and perform other maintenance standard.

Regulators from other countries would then make their own decisions about whether to lift the aircraft landing order after reviewing the FAA’s work. The European Union and countries such as China and Canada have said they will carry out their own safety checks before certifying the 737 MAX to resume operations and transport passengers.

FAA meeting

The acting administrator of the FAA, Dan Elwell, at the meeting of the General Directorate expresses the status of the Boeing 737 MAX to world opinion. The meeting of May 23, 2019 was both complete and constructive. While the tragic circumstances that united us all might be considered extraordinary, there is nothing extraordinary in the level of commitment to safety shared by all of us. Our sense of mission, which makes aviation the safest form of transportation, is strong and deep, and unites us all. If not in a meeting at Ft. It’s worth it, we’re comparing notes in symposiums around the world, we’re in web-based conferences or we just answer the phone.

AW-700034434.jpgSummary of the coverage of the Boeing 737 MAX problem:
How the FAA responded to MAX accidents and how we supported the two international accident investigations?
How do we plan to certify the changes in the Boeing MCAS and how have we been sharing information with all regulators here?

The most recent state on the Technical Advisory Board (TAB) that is reviewing the Boeing MCAS software update and system security assessment. As you know, the TAB has the task of identifying any problem in which additional research is recommended before approving the MCAS design change. Details of the changes proposed by Boeing to MAX, both in the flight control system and in the pilot training A review of the technical steps and the sequence of events that we anticipated would be involved in the disconnection of the MAX fleet here in the United States.

Service 737 MAX outside the USA

A discussion of international considerations to return MAX to service outside the United States. What happens next is that, here in the United States, we expect Boeing to finalize the changes in the MAX. Once received, we conduct our assessments and analysis of final risks, taking into account the findings of the TAB and any information we receive from our international counterparts. We will also participate in test flights of a modified 737 MAX and weigh all the information together before making the decision to return the aircraft to service.

Internationally, each country has to make its own decisions, but the FAA will make available to our counterparts everything we have learned, everything we have done and all our assistance under the commitments of the International Civil Aviation Organization.

As we all work through this rigorous process, we will continue to be transparent and we will exchange everything we know and everything we do to strengthen the public’s confidence that the aircraft will meet the highest safety standards. A \ W

Boeing-Logo.svgBoeing announced the conclusion of test tests for the fleet 737 MAX

The Boeing Company announced that it has completed the update of the MCAS Stabilization System of its Boeing 737 MAX model, which includes all the variants MAX 7, MAX 8, MAX 9 and MAX 10, as well as the changes required in the training of pilots. «We have completed all the engineering test flights for the software update and now we are preparing for the final certification flight», company president Dennis Muilenburg said in a statement.

Software update

In addition to updating the software, the necessary changes are also ready for the training of the pilots, including simulator tests. Making changes to each affected device will take between one to two hours.

The news marks an important step for the return to the service of the Boeing 737 MAX stationed in earth from mid-March 2019, after two accidents of the airlines Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines.

AW-7000035444.jpgFLEET OF BOEING 737 MAX IN THE BOEING FACILITIES IN SEATTLE

Boeing indicated that it has completed more than 207 flight tests for a total of more than 360 hours with the modified 737 MAX. In addition, he said that he has accompanied the changes with simulator tests. This last point is important because countries such as Canada require driver training in simulators, while the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recommends only iPad tests.

Flight test

The aircraft manufacturer says that it has presented all the training elements of pilots to the civil aviation authorities of different countries, as well as to airline customers. As reported by the company Boeing, has made a series of contacts on the subject with carriers around the world, and now awaits the decision of the FAA to carry out the test flight determinant for the certification of its modified 737 MAX.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), whose credibility has been questioned by the crisis of the 737 MAX, has not yet set a date and wants to make sure that all the elements presented by Boeing are complete and comply with their requirements, he told AFP. internal source. However, Daniel Elwell, Acting Chief of the agency, said Wednesday in front of US officials that the test flight could take place next week or days later. It is likely to take place before May 23, 2019, when the FAA invited its counterparts from other countries to explain the modifications of the 737 MAX.

Elwell said he expected the other regulators to certify the modified 737 MAX after a green light from the United States. The meeting «is crucial because that is where we will have a more precise timetable for the return to service», said Michel Merluzeau of Air Insight Research. Southwest and American Airlines, two large customers of the 737 MAX, have already canceled scheduled flights on this plane until August 2019.

Investors supported the announcement, causing a favorable jump in the stock market, given that the 737 MAX is the sales engine of the group with headquarters in Chicago. On Wall Street, the Boeing stock ended the session with a gain of 2.36%. A \ W

The demand for 737 MAX suggests parallels to the accidents of the 90s

Boeing-Logo.svgA lawsuit filed by the former inspector general of the Department of Transportation (DOT) accuses Boeing of a new lawsuit for repeatedly hiding design flaws in its aircraft and blaming pilots after the crashes.

Schiavo on behalf of the estate of one of the victims in the Ethiopian Airlines crash, draws parallels between Boeing’s responses after the Boeing 737 MAX accidents in October 2018 and March 2019 and two accidents involving older models 737 in 1991 and 1994. After both series of accidents, Boeing withheld information, rejected or resisted the calls to ground of the aircraft and emphasized the failures of the pilots on the problems of design, argues the demand. «Boeing implemented a common and continuous scheme after both series of crashes to hide deadly failures in the aircraft that caused the aircraft, without the pilot’s intervention or the ability to overcome the aircraft, to submerge on the ground killing everyone on board», says the lawsuit.

Boeing spokesman Charles Bickers said the company will not comment directly on the lawsuit, but that Boeing is fully cooperating with the investigating authorities. It is believed that a Boeing software system known as MCAS, which pushes the nose of the aircraft down if it detects an imminent stop, played an important role in the aircraft crashes of Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines in October and March, in which A total of 346 people died.

The CEO of Boeing, Dennis Muilenburg, said in April 2019 that the 737 MAX accidents occurred due to a chain of events and that the erroneous activation of MCAS software was a link in that chain.

Parallels in ’90

In 1991 and 1994, the second-generation models of the Boeing 737 that crashed near Colorado Springs, Colorado and Pittsburgh, respectively, opened an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) that discovered the probable cause of the accident 1994 was the loss of control of the plane because the rudder of the plane was moving to its maximum limit. The NTSB found that rudder reversal probably also occurred in the 1991 incident. The lawsuit states that Boeing was aware of 737 similar rudder incidents before those crashes, but did not act on the reports.

In 1992, Boeing admitted in a meeting that part of the 737 did not meet the design intent of failures, but the company did not seek to land the aircraft, according to the lawsuit and an accompanying presentation describing the objectives of that meeting. After the 1994 accident, Boeing rejected calls for NTSB design changes and instead recommended that airlines provide additional training so pilots can counter rudder deviations, according to the suit.

Schiavo, the lawyer who filed the lawsuit and CNN aviation analyst, said she found Boeing’s responses to the recent 737 MAX crashes similar to the company’s response to previous incidents while working for DOT. «It seems that we are reliving the story and I would have thought that we would have learned the lesson. When you have a plummet of an aircraft from the sky, you can not be sure that another will not happen».

The suit joins others filed against Boeing in the aftermath of the 737 MAX crashes, including a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of an American woman who died in the Ethiopian Airlines crash. A \ W

Relatives of victims of the plane crash of Global Air in Havana file class action lawsuit

Family members of the victims of the plane crash last year in Havana filed a class action lawsuit against the Mexican airline Global Air, also known Aerolíneas Damojh, as well as against its owner, the Spanish businessman Manuel Rodríguez Campo, the insurance company Ve por Más S.A. and the Financial Group.

Flight CU-972 of Cubana de Aviación (CU-972/CUB972) was a domestic flight of passengers of Global Air leased to Cubana de Aviación. It covered the trip from the José Martí International Airport in Havana, to the Frank País International Airport in Holguín. On May 18, 2018, the aircraft involved, a Boeing 737-200, registration XA-UHZ, crashed minutes after takeoff between the José Martí Airport and the town of Santiago de Las Vegas, in the Boyeros municipality of the Cuban capital. Of the 113 occupants of the aircraft, including six Mexican crew members, three people could be transferred alive to the hospital, however one of them died after 3 days, and another 7 days after the accident.

Family demand

The demand of the fammily of the victims of the CUB-972 flight was presented by the French law firm Barreau de Bordeaux, specialized in representing victims of air accidents, in Mexico City. Once it has been judicially validated, more relatives and heirs of the victims can be united. This civil suit is added to the criminal complaint filed previously with the General Prosecutor of Mexico, for the crime of murder, against Rodríguez Campo, Seguros Ve por Más SA, Grupo Financiero Ve por Más and Aerolíneas Damojh SA. «The action is aimed at the recognition and exaction of all civil liabilities that may arise and arising from the loss in favor of the relatives of the deceased», explained lawyer Carlos Villacorta.

The lawyer said that the request is for the investigations and the necessary measures to be ordered «in order to clarify the criminal acts to the detriment of the victims of the plane crash, so that the accused are summoned and declared in relation to the facts and exercise criminal action before the district judge in turn».  The lawsuit will demand «the payment of all pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages suffered by the claimants». Prior to this lawsuit, family members of three of the passengers filed a lawsuit in a Chicago court alleging that the airline was «negligent in training its pilots».

On May 18, 2018, shortly after taking off from Havana Airport, a Boeing 737-200 chartered by Cubana de Aviación fell to the ground causing the death of 112 people. Only the young Cuban Mailén Díaz Almaguer survived the fatal accident. After a year of investigations, a Cuban government commission announced last Thursday in a brief statement that «the most likely cause of the accident» was a mistake by the crew in calculating the peso.

United States warns airlines flying over the Persian Gulf by increasing diplomatic pressure with Iran

US diplomats warned on Saturday 18 May 2019 that commercial aircraft flying over the Persian Gulf are at risk of being «misidentified,» amid growing tensions between Washington and Tehran.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has informed US diplomats about the risks posed by current tensions in a critical area for air routes around the world.

Fears of a possible conflict have increased since the White House ordered the sending of warships and bombings to the region to counteract an alleged unspecified threat from Iran, which has caused Washington to also withdraw its non-essential diplomatic personnel from Iraq. Since then, President Donald Trump has lowered the tone of his statements. The current US-Iran conflict has brought pressure for air and sea in the Persian Gulf area

Conflict Saudi Arabia-Iran

The authorities reported a sabotage that would have affected four oil tankers off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, and Yemeni rebels aligned with Iran claimed a drone strike against a pipeline vital to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Riad blamed Tehran directly for the incident, and a local newspaper linked to the Saudi royal family Al Saud on Thursday called on the United States to launch «surgical attacks» on Tehran. The trigger for the escalation was the decision taken last year by Trump to abandon the nuclear agreement between Iran and several international powers and start a campaign of asphyxiating sanctions against the Islamic Republic. Tehran recently said it would resume uranium enrichment at higher levels if a new nuclear deal with Europe is not closed before 7 July 2019.

Aero-commercial operations

Iran has been insisting for years that its goal is not nuclear weapons, although the West fears its nuclear program could allow it to build atomic bombs. The order transmitted on Saturday by US diplomats in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates came from an FAA notice published Thursday night in the United States. According to the document, all commercial aircraft flying over the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman must be aware of the «increase in military activities and the increase in political tension».

This represents «an increasing unintentional risk for US civil aviation operations due to a possible calculation or identification error», the note said. In addition, aircraft could experience interference in their navigation and communication instruments «with little or no warning», he added.

The Persian Gulf has become an important stopover for the air routes linking East and West. The Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates, seat of the Emirates airline, is the busiest in the world. Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways also operate from there. In a statement, Emirates reported that it was aware of the warning and in contact with air authorities around the world, although «at this time there are no changes in our flight operations». A \ W

Boeing 737 MAX al Congreso EEUU

AW | 2019 05 15 21:20 | AVIATION SAFETY / GOVERNMENT

Declarations before US Congress for Boeing 737 MAX737MAX8-960x298.png

The acting administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Dan Elwell, and the President of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Robert Sumwalt, testified before Congress on the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Mr. Elwell offered his apologies to the families of the victims of two recent accidents in Indonesia and Ethiopia. He gave an update on when the plane would fly again and said: «In the US, the 737 MAX will return to service only when the factual analysis and FAA technical data indicate that it is safe to do so». In addition, he said that lawmakers expect the Boeing company to present a software solution for the planes ashore soon for approval.

The top aviation regulator in the United States has assured Congress that the Boeing 737 MAX, grounded after two fatal accidents, will only fly again when a government analysis shows it is safe. The Federal Aviation Administration is under scrutiny for the way it trusted Boeing to certify the MAX and then did not land the plane until after the second accident, in March. FAA interim chief Daniel Elwell told the aviation subcommittee of the House of Representatives that his agency «welcomes the scrutiny that helps us improve». Elwell enumerated several reviews of the handling of the matter by the FAA, adding, however, that only the FAA would decide when the Max is safe enough to allow it to return to air. «In the United States, the 737 MAX will return to the service only when the factual analysis and the FAA’s technical data indicate that it is safe to do so», Elwell said.

The Chairman of the House Aviation subcommittee, Rick Larsen, said he expects answers about MAX’s FAA certification, the role of Boeing employees in evaluating the aircraft’s key characteristics, and the role of the FAA in the development of the training of pilots for the plane. «The FAA has a credibility problem», he said. Larsen added a note of economic urgency to the grounding of MAX, Boeing’s best-selling aircraft and one that is built in his home state of Washington. He said that Congress should help the public feel safe when flying because if they do not fly, airlines do not need to buy planes and then there will be no jobs in airplane manufacturing.

Congress Representative Peter DeFazio criticized Boeing for the pilot manuals that did not mention a new automated flight control system involved in both accidents, and for a design that dropped the nose of the aircraft based on the readings of a single sensor that could fail. The two planes crashed in Ethiopia in March and in Indonesia, last October, killed 346 people. DeFazio, who heads the full transport committee, also said Boeing has not yet provided the documents he and Larsen requested, and said he expected the company to provide them voluntarily and soon. «Boeing has yet to provide a single document, we have to get to the bottom of this», he said.

Boeing is already the subject of a criminal investigation by the United States Department of Justice.

Customers of the 737 MAX

Customers of Boeing Southwest Airlines and American Airlines and their pilot unions have received citations related to that investigation; United Airlines, which also flew the 737 MAX until it was grounded in March, declined to comment, although its pilot union confirmed it also received a subpoena.

American Airlines pilots pressured Boeing in November 2018, shortly after the first 737 MAX accident, to ground the aircraft and request a quick software solution from the aircraft manufacturer. «We do not want to do a bad job of fixing things, and we do not want to fix the wrong things either», answered a Boeing employee.

The Inspector General of the Department of Transportation and a Senate Committee are investigating the FAA’s relationship with Boeing, and it is likely that the House subcommittee will follow a similar path. The hearing before the House of Representatives panel is expected to cover the FAA’s review of a flight control system in the MAX that was not present in previous versions of the 737. In both accidents, the automated flight system made descend the nose of the plane and the pilots could not regain control.

Robert Sumwalt, President of the National Transportation Safety Board, scheduled Elwell’s participation in the House hearing. No Boeing representative was scheduled to give evidence.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump’s candidate to head the Federal Aviation Administration said he was committed to making the changes recommended by the groups that analyze how the agency certifies aircraft safety. During questioning during a confirmation hearing of the Senate Committee, Stephen Dickson said he would never give up his responsibility to make sure the planes are safe. A\W

Aviation expert explains errors in flight location calculations MH-370

An aviation expert has questioned whether the satellite data central to the findings made about the loss of Malaysia AirlinesMH-370 flight were tampered with could be revealed.

Flight MH-370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board. The official investigation into the case concluded that the aircraft must have crashed into the southern Indian Ocean, but this theory depended entirely on a set of satellite data. The data comes from satellite 3F1, which belongs to the British satellite telecommunications company Inmarsat.

Jeff Wise has published in his 2015 book ‘The plane that was not there’, where he explained that, since the narrative of research theory is based entirely on seven communications between the MH370 and the 3F1. There are two main ways in which this data could have been manipulated. We know that the data that Malaysia Airlines posted is the same as the data that Inmarsat received from MH-370 through 3F1 on the night of 7 and 8 March 2014, according to the official investigations of Inmarsat and the Australian Transport Security Office. (ATSB), recognizing the integrity of the data provided. But one could also question whether the data was modified before it was received by Inmarsat.

Data manipulation?

Mr. Wise explained that until now it had been assumed that the Burst Time Deviation (BTO) and Burst Frequency Deviation (BFO) data were generated as part of the normal function of the communication systems. While there is no known natural process that changes this data, this does not rule out human interference. The question then is whether the human being deliberately modified the electronics so that the greet signals generate deceptive BFO and/or BTO data when received on the ground. In other words, could the Inmarsat data have been falsified to get the researchers out of the way? Mr. Wise admitted that at first the idea seemed ridiculous. But if the technical data used to track the Boeing 777-200ER uses this adulterated data, the missing MH370 flight could be elsewhere.

Inmarsat’s own engineers were not sure their data was accurate. Inmarsat engineer Alan Schuster Bruce said at the time: «One of the concerns we had was the fact that all this could be a great deception that someone had played in Inmarsat». A \ W

AW-70007378.jpgFailures in 737 MAX certification processes

Boeing-Company-Logo.jpgThe FAA did not treat the suspect 737 MAX flight control system as a critical safety risk

The conclusion is part of the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) internal review of the aircraft certification process. An internal review by the Federal Aviation Administration has tentatively determined that the agency’s senior officials did not participate in or monitor the critical safety assessments of a Boeing 737 MAX flight control system that subsequently became involved in two fatal accidents, officials said. of industry and government.

The preliminary conclusion also indicates that during the certification process, Boeing did not mark the automatic blocking prevention function as a system whose malfunction or failure could cause a catastrophic event. Such a designation would have led to more intense scrutiny.

FAA engineers and mid-level managers postponed Boeing’s early safety classification, allowing the company’s experts to conduct further analysis of potential hazards with the agency’s limited oversight. Boeing employees who served as representatives of the designated agencies then approved the final design.

Boeing orders

100_737MAX8.pngBoeing delivered 24 percent fewer jet aircraft in the first four months of 2019 compared to the same period last year, as the grounding of its best-selling 737 MAX aircraft halted deliveries for the second month.

As expected, the company did not receive new orders in April for narrow-body aircraft, as it continues to work on a software solution for the MCAS anti-blocking system. Deliveries of the aircraft were halted in early March, a few days after an Ethiopian Airlines plane crashed, killing all 157 people on board, in the second fatal accident involving the 737 MAX in just five months.

The month of April, Boeing abandoned its financial outlook for 2019, halted the repurchase of shares and said that the reduction in production of the 737 MAX quickest sales after the bases had cost at least US$ 1 billion. Boeing recognizes the full payment of aircraft when delivered to customers, and the formal grounding of the 737 MAX in almost all of the global airspace has completely halted deliveries.

At the end of March, Boeing had 91 net orders, but the company’s leasing and lending services unit, Boeing Capital, moved four of its 737 MAX spaces to a lessor. That led the company to register 87 net orders until April 2019 in the entire line of commercial aircraft, a reduction of four in net base. Boeing also recalled 206 aircraft from its backlog last month due to the financial problems of India’s Jet Airways.

Ethiopian Airlines has lost confidence in reusing the Boeing 737 MAX in its fleet. «The airline will not use the plane unless the airline, its pilots and passengers are convinced that it is safe, if we fly them back, we will be the last airline to do so», said Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO of the company.

As a result, their net orders for the first four months (1Q2019) slipped into negative territory, with a total of less than 119 net orders after cancellations, despite a series of new sales.

The adjustment has pushed the world’s largest aircraft maker behind European rival Airbus SE in the race for business this year, as both companies deal with cancellations that outperform new orders.

Last week, Airbus said it had won 67 gross orders through April 2019, but 125 cancellations left it with a negative net order of 58 aircraft. Airbus delivered 232 aircraft in the first four months of 2019, compared to the 172 aircraft of the previous year.

Investors and analysts are closely watching the number of aircraft that Boeing delivers to airlines and leasing companies to get clues about the cash flow and revenues of the company. A \ W
