Aerolíneas nuevo plan reestructuración

AW | 2018 08 14 12:25 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Aerolíneas, new restructuring plan

The management of Aerolíneas Argentinas and the aeronautical guilds met to consider a new plan

The increase in the price of fuel and the fall in consumption are the two factors that forced Aerolíneas Argentinas to launch a new restructuring plan for the work agreement for aeronautical personnel to achieve the goal of zero deficit, postponing one more year.

In a meeting between the management of Aerolineas Argentinas and the holders of the six aeronautical guilds, an initial kick was given to their future projections. From the airline explained that they will try to «make more productive the work of the 12,250 workers of the company». Therefore, the company’s restructuring plan was based on the investment in a new fleet of 24 aircraft, between 2015-2018, Aerolíneas Argentinas went from 74 to 83 aircraft, seeking to renew part of the fleet of transatlantic flights such as the Airbus A330 -200 and domestic routes the Embraer E190-100AR.

New Plan

The airline would need to incorporate two new aircraft in the course of 2019, so that it is able to cover all its international routes. The decision to incorporate these aircraft must be made within the next 60 days. To this was added the renegotiation of contracts with different suppliers, for example, ticket reservation, cleaning or food services, which generated a reduction of US$ 80 million annually in purchases.

The next step that the airline company wants to give has to do with the uses and customs that reach the airline workers. The company proposed the change in some topics, which could provide a certain «multifunctionality» at the time of performing their tasks. For example, having the possibility of selling to passengers the seats of the «rest area», which are currently reserved for pilots. To this it would be added that the delivery of the hoses for the fuel load begins to be done by the mechanics of Aerolíneas and not fuel sellers. In addition, it was considered to change the overnight stays instead of two for pilots and cabin crew.

The aeronautical unions considered that these measures will not affect the financial situation of the company, but that the sector requires a business plan linked to technical investments and greater maintenance. Ricardo Cirielli, head of the Union of Technical Aeronautical Personnel (APTA), said that «no airline company grows shrinking and that if the adjustment variable is only for the workers, it will be a failure».

The rail line seeks to negotiate fifteen points of the collective agreements they have with the representatives of the pilots (APLA and UALA), mechanics (APTA), ground personnel (APA), hierarchical (UPSA) and Aeronavegantes (AAA), which would mean a total adjustment of 100 million dollars per year. From now on, the negotiations will be conducted guild by guild, for a period of 45 days. From Aerolíneas assured that the specific claims are contained in the plan.

More subsidies

Aerolíneas Argentinas will require US$ 90 million from the State of Argentina for subsidy concepts, but the requested amount continues to decrease. Although the airline planned to reach the year 2019 with zero deficit, but that goal will be delayed, in principle, another year. To settle the increase in the cost of oil, Aerolíneas requested the Executive US$ 100 million, of which 40% has already been granted. A\W

AW | 2018 08 14 10:42 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Australian airlines help farmers

Australian airlines extend economic assistance to farmers

Australia’s main airlines, Jetstar Airlines, Regional Express (Rex), Qantas Airways and Virgin Australia Airlines are committed to supporting farmers struggling with drought.

Regional Express (Rex) said on August 9 that it had allocated AU$ 1 million for a drought relief fund, and the airline offered to donate AU$ 4 in travel on the airline for every AU$ 1 raised by community groups. «Small businesses that provide assistance to drought victims will also be eligible. Rex also intends to begin collecting donations on all flights to provide cash contributions to a nominated charity involved in the drought relief effort». Rex said in a statement. Rex vice president John Sharp said the airline intends to extend its assistance beyond the current fiscal year in case the drought continues and as long as it continues to trade profitably. «Rex’s heart is in the country, and our thoughts and prayers go to all the residents of communities in the region of Australia who face unimaginable hardships as they struggle to make ends meet and keep their crops alive. Support our loyal regional clients in their time of greatest need», Sharp said.

Qantas Airways partnered with the Rural Aid charity and announced an immediate cash donation of AU$ 1 million to help finance purchases of hay, water, food and mental health advisors for farming communities. It is expected to raise another AU$ 1 million through customer donations with Jetstar and Qantas, along with other appeal initiatives such as a charity flight from Sydney to Longreach and Sydney to Tamworth in October, collections in airport lounges and capacity to donate frequent flyer points to various charities. Qantas planned to join these fundraising efforts to finally offer a total donation of AU$ 3 million. «Qantas started inland Many of our employees live there and we have many farming families who offer everything from beef to Broccoli, which we serve to customers, we feel we have a duty to help these communities that are doing so hard», said Qantas Executive President Alan Joyce in a statement on August 10, 2018.

Qantas cabin crew member Zanthe Atkinson, whose husband is a farmer near Tamworth, said the pair was feeding by hand to keep them alive. «Most farming families have no choice but to depend solely on farm income and for many of them there has been no income for years, we can not make it rain, but at least we can help one day arrive closer to the drought», said Atkinson.

Virgin Australia Airlines said it would support the appeal of the «Aussie Farmers Cross» of the Australian Red Cross, with passengers on its domestic flights and in its airport lounges able to donate to the initiative. The airline was also collecting donations from its 10,000-strong workforce. Virgin Australia Executive President John Borghetti said that supporting the ‘Help Australian farmers’ was a great way to support the families of farmers who deal with the impact of the severe drought. «The funds raised through the appeal will be distributed to communities affected by the drought throughout Australia through partners working in these communities, Virgin Australia flies to many destinations that are affected by the drought, and as an Australian airline proud we want to take advantage of the community spirit that unites us in difficult times», Borghetti said in a statement.

The Executive Director of the Australian Red Cross, Judy Slayter, said that farmers face a tough road to face one of the worst droughts of the last century. «It has been wonderful to see so many Australians and companies like Virgin Australia dig and help farmers and their families affected by the severe drought, and we know that this is a very difficult time for farmers affected by the drought, their families and regional communities. Throughout the country, every day, we see first hand how difficult it is for people with financial and social responsibilities in progress.Farmers and their families are resilient people, even though they have a difficult road ahead to face to one of the worst droughts in the last century, we can all launch, even if it’s a few dollars», Slayter said.

The airlines’ efforts come after federal governments announced cash payments of up to AU$ 12,000 per household, as well as additional funds for advisors and mental health support in response to the drought.A \ W

AW-7088071.png

Imagen relacionadaEL MOTOR LEAP SUPERA LAS 10.000 ÓRDENES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

LEAP engine production line limitations

SAFRAN-Aircraft-EnginesThe American manufacturer Boeing and Airbus Group are at the limit of the production line of their best-selling units

After the problems of deliveries of auto parts and engines, both Airbus and Boeing are suffering delays in the delivery of units to all customers in the world. The main delay lies in the delivery of the new LEAP CFM engines for the newer generations of the Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320NEO. The shortage of engines occurred in 2Q2018 and this increased in the third.

A320NEO family production line

Airbus had almost 100 aircraft without a motor, a number that is decreasing. Both companies are sold out until 2024. Higher production is justified by market demand, but depends on the availability of the engine. Unless there are more engines available, stock prices will fall.

Resultado de imagen para A320neo assembly line

Airbus revealed that it will lose its A320NEO delivery target in 2018. The delays at Airbus are mainly due to problems with the Pratt & Whitney engines. Pratt & Whitney has reduced the delivery of engines to Airbus, as the engine manufacturer solves problems that are prone to engine failure.

A third of the buyers of the Airbus 320 still have to make a selection of engines for the discounts to continue. The manufacturing of Leap Engine is approximately US$ 9,500 million with parts and services for a total of US$ 12,000 million in 2018.

Boeing 737MAX line limitations

rotate13.pngThe Boeing 737 is the largest commercial airplane ever built in the world, its fame reaches anywhere on the planet. It’s Boeing’s best-selling commercial jet, and the 737 MAX is selling faster than any commercial jet in history.

The accumulation of non-engine aircraft is stationed outside the Renton, Washington plant, which is generating not only logistics problems for Renton Airport, but also beginning to affect the production line in Wichita, Kansas. There are some 40 unfinished aircraft stored in Renton. Boeing has moved hundreds of mechanics to Renton to help complete the unfinished planes.

After years of steady increases in the production rate on the 737 line, Boeing’s plan to accelerate the line to even higher numbers in 2019 faces its most serious challenge so far. The manufacturer faces delays and shortages of parts of its supply chain, as well as chronic congestion at its plant in Renton, Washington. Although signs of the impending crisis have been visible all year as key suppliers, CFM and Spirit AeroSystems struggled to keep pace with aerospace giant Boeing.

Greg Smith, Chief Financial Officer of Boeing, revealed that Boeing will deliver fewer 737 aircraft in 3Q2018 than usual. The manufacturer is struggling to manage a series of unfinished aircraft parked at its Renton facility. Boeing directly blames delays on its suppliers. Smith reports that slow deliveries of Spirit AeroSystems fuselages and CFM International engines reduced the amount of 737 deliveries in the last quarter and will continue to do so in the coming months. «We are working with suppliers, putting resources particularly in Spirit, and putting additional resources in our factory and on our ramp to really burn the open jobs left in those planes», Smith said.

Boeing is starting to recover from the delays. The production rate recently increased to 52 aircraft per month (approximately five aircraft are produced every two days). However, Smith says that the slight delays in the coming months, and even previous delays in production, could have a major impact on production. «There’s not much room for error there, when you’re at 52 per month, one day, one hour, two hours matter, we have a recovery plan for them and for us, and it’s about executing that plan», Smith said.

Although Boeing produced 47 aircraft per month through June 2018, the manufacturer only delivered 45 aircraft per month through June. That means that at least two planes must be stored every month in Renton.

Power plants

The strange thing is that the margins of aircraft manufacturers are high, but engine manufacturers are losing money in the manufacture of new engines. Leap will surpass CFM-56 this year. However, the Jump occurs with loss. They are falling in the experience curve, so the losses are decreasing. The competition with Pratt & Whitney GTF is intense. The engines are sold with a 70% discount. Therefore, a Leap engine with a list price of US$ 13 million will actually sell for US$ 3.7 million.

AW-7088071.png

The business model of commercial motor is to make the motor have a small profit or no profits and then get great after-sales service profits. The cost of the effort to prevent the Pratt and Whitney turbofans from earning a share in the single-aisle market was extremely high. The jump, with a volume of 1100 units, is expected to lose money by 2018. The CFM-56 was a source of revenue. It is sold at a higher price than the Salto according to previous contracts. Therefore, a higher yielding product that loses money replaced the old profitable engine. Worse still, Pratt and Whitney will not fit under wing 737. However, Boeing had to receive a price cut even though the GTF could not be used. CFM will not see significant growth until 2020. After that, it will grow very well. In addition to the huge discount, there are the costs of the rapid expansion of production. Before suppliers have the opportunity to stabilize production, they have resisted plans to increase production. CFM is frustrated by these costs and is reluctant to increase production more quickly.

Clearing the bottleneck

Both manufacturers have recovery plans for 2018. However, they face limits on future increases in production. Analysts had counted on these increases to justify the price of the shares.

Boeing is likely to reach its delays by the end of this year or early 2019, which means that deliveries are likely to be concentrated by the end of 2018 or start in 2019.

Airframe manufacturers will need to make it worthwhile for engine manufacturers to produce more. They can do that, but the production capacity does not come quickly. It takes time to find suppliers and make engines more productive, etc. Therefore, the bright promises of increased production will be postponed. Boeing’s earnings over the next five years will be lower, but the biggest loser will be Airbus because they depend more on narrow bodies than Boeing. A \ W

AA2000 elimina canon servicios

AW | 2018 08 12 23:07 | AIRPORTS / AVIATION ORGANISMS

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

AA2000 eliminates canon services

Boeing 737NG-AR001.pngThe concessionaire of 33 Argentine airports AA2000 eliminates canon of duplicate services

The canon eliminated by use of the airport in the services to the airplanes was proposed by the regulating organism Regulating Agency of the National System of Airports (ORSNA). The concessionaire Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 will stop charging AR$ 100 million to the airlines.

The AA2000 concessionaire will stop charging the airlines fees for cleaning, maintenance, security and personnel transport services. These are, in fact, payments not for the services themselves, but because the companies do so within the airport space, a service that the airlines carry out unilaterally.

The measure will come into force as of September 1, 2018 and will represent for the airlines as a whole an annual saving of AR$ 100 million pesos, according to ORSNA sources.

«From Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 we will exempt the payment of the fee to suppliers that provide services to the airlines and to different public agencies that participate in day-to-day airport operations: EANA, ANAC, PSA and Migrations, to continue strengthening the objectives proposed by the National Government in its policy «Revolution of the Aircraft»», said the holder of AA2000, Martin Eurnekian, through a statement.

Imagen relacionada

This transfer of income by the concessionaire is part of the negotiations between AA2000 and the State of Argentina, which began in early 2016. In particular, this disappearing fee aims to generate immediate relief for airlines and, in particular, to Aerolíneas Argentinas, the main beneficiary for the volume of flights, which this year should request from the State funds above what is authorized by the Congress for the 2017 Budget.

«The ORSNA made a reinterpretation of the contract with AA2000, where we found a fee that the concessionaire was charging the airlines for different services, which they had to pay for, for example, about the cleaning service that Aerolíneas Argentinas hires for their planes, AA2000 charged a fee This canon, which increased costs for all airlines operating in the country, will represent an important saving for all airlines and, in particular, Aerolíneas Argentinas, which is the main user of airports awarded to AA2000», said Patricio Di Stéfano, President of ORSNA.

The current link between AA2000 and the State, effective since 2007, establishes for the concessionaire the obligation to invest in airport infrastructure around AR$ 600 million pesos per year, at updated prices. But the concrete figure that AA2000 is contributing since 2016 is much higher: they added AR$ 9,340 million in the three years that go from 2016 to the end of this year, and they committed another AR$ 4,390 million for 2019. In total, they are AR$ 13,700 million pesos (measured at current prices), on a joint investment with the State for a total of AR$ 26,000 million in four years, in the 34 airport stations concessioned to AA2000.

The 2007 contract, signed a few days before Néstor Kirchner handed over the presidential sash to Cristina Fernández, extended the concession to AA2000 until 2028 and enabled the state to take 15% of the shares of Corporación América, owner of its instead of the majority of AA2000. The State made use of the option in 2011: since then, it owns 15% of a concessionaire that in turn exploits the State’s own assets. A negotiation, at least, striking and that the current authorities want to reformulate with a new contract. Part of it, is already running on account: they are almost AR$ 14,000 million that AA2000 is putting on the table, or the canon of AR$ 100 million per year that will stop receiving from September 2018.
