AW-704344441La aerolínea germana Lufthansa aprueba la alianza The Boeing Brasil Commercial

AW-BOINGBRAERThe German airline Lufthansa approves The Boeing Brasil Commercial alliance

The German airline Lufthansa has recently announced the approval of the proposed acquisition by Boeing of Embraer Commercial Aircraft in the amount of US$ 4.2 billion. The main airline and powerful airline group has expressed that the future new merger would preserve a level playing field, referring to the previous partnership between Airbus and Bombardier. Currently, the European builder has bought the shares of Bombardier Inc. through which he was going through serious financial problems. The Executive Chairman of the Lufthansa Group, Carsten Spohr, at an aviation conference said: «We would prefer to have two healthy competitors».

The agreement would see Embraer cede 80% of its commercial arm to Boeing, but it has been delayed by an investigation of European Union competition that is expected to last until the end of April 2020. The European Union is concerned that the consolidation of the First, the Canadian Bombardier decision to exit the market by selling a key program to Airbus, and then the integration of rival Embraer into Boeing, will leave very few options.

Several airlines have backed the Boeing-Embraer agreement, suggesting that the Embraer of Brazil would not remain viable as an independent competitor for a combination of the Airbus and Bombardier CSeries of Europe aircraft program, now renamed A220. Spohr said Lufthansa, which was CSeries’ launch customer, had supported its acquisition by Airbus after Bombardier ran out of funds to bring the 110-130-seat plane to the market, and now he was ready to support the Boeing-Embraer agreement. Reunión ANAC-JetSmart

AW-7001328AW | 2020 03 06 14:06 | AIRLINES / GOVERNMENT

AW-Icon AW001

AW-7001329ANAC-JetSmart meeting

JetSMART_LogoANAC explained the reasons for the citation to JetSmart Argentina

The National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) Argentina has requested information from JetSmart Airlines Argentina about the purchase of Norwegian Air Norwegianairshuttlelogo2013Argentina. The head of the aviation agency, Paola Tamburelli, has reported on the situation of the low-cost airline JetSmart by notifying you of information on the purchase of the economic airline. «We are recovering the role of regulation and supervision of air activity for the safety of all», said Paola Tamburelli.

norwegianairshuttle-001JetSmart received authorization from ANAC to extend the rental of Boeing 737-800 aircraft for seven days in order to be able to complete the necessary procedures to achieve the qualification they need to operate in Aeroparque with their own Airbus aircraft A320CEO.

ANAC said it is moving forward in a solution for the JetSmart situation. “Regarding the problems of the JetSmart company, which acquired the shares of the Norwegian Air Argentina company, it should be clarified that an operation like that is the responsibility of two private companies, but the use of air routes is granted and controlled by the state. We need to know with which aircraft they intend to use these routes and a series of technical details that are essential to seriously analyze the request”, said the head of the ANAC Argentina.

The implementation of the Norwegian purchase project by Jetsmart Airlines Argentina was to gradually return the three Norwegian Air Boeing 737-800 aircraft that it temporarily rents for its domestic flights and replace them with its own Airbus A320-200 (CEO) aircraft. When they did not obtain authorization to fly with A320 aircraft, they requested a wet-lease permit, which allows renting aircraft with a crew. But ANAC has not authorized any of the two orders so far, it only extended the rental of Boeing 737-800 aircraft belonging to the Norwegian Norwegian company for seven days. It was hoped that within that period they could complete the pertinent procedures to achieve the qualification they need to operate in Aeroparque with their Airbus A320CEO aircraft, according to the regulatory body.

One of the conditions that JetSmart must meet is to adapt the Air Services Operator Certificate (CESA) since the one they currently have for operations from Aeroparque is that corresponding to Norwegian Air Argentina, there being incompatibility after the acquisition.

ANAC-JetSmart meeting

At this noon in Argentina, the ANAC and representatives of JetSmart will hold a meeting to advance the agreements that allow the necessary procedures for the authorization or not, of the operation of the routes. “We are recovering the role of the regulation and supervision of air activity, not only the air commercial but also related to the control of security measures at aerodromes that proliferate in the interior of the country and for which ANAC had stopped properly supervise. The State present in this matter is fundamental for the safety of all”, explained Paola Tamburelli.

JetSmart Positioning

JetSmart Airlines Argentina is waiting for the authorization of ANAC to be able to use the slots corresponding to Norwegian Air Argentina at Jorge Newbery Airport (Aeroparque) and replace Norwegian planes with their own aircraft. After acquiring the shares of Norwegian Air Argentina, Jetsmart became the main low-cost airline in the country, with a 14% share of the domestic cabotage air market. However, this week announced that the Government was delaying the necessary permits so that it could start using its own aircraft on routes that belonged to Norwegian and departing from Aeroparque. So far, JetSmart only operated from El Palomar International Airport for flights departing from Buenos Aires.

JetSmart Perspectives

JetSmart Airlines Argentina and Norwegian Air Argentina will continue to operate normally, but separately until the synergy takes place. JetSmart Argentina has not ruled out that the company’s investors now conduct a review of its strategy. Jetsmart is part of the international Indigo Partners group, a private investment fund that has been developing global low-cost airlines for more than 15 years, including the European Wizz Air, the Mexican Volaris and the American Frontier Airlines.

The merger between the two companies JetSmart-Norwegian was under the umbrella of a dialogue table with the Government of Argentina, which will analyze the operation. For now, the two airlines will continue to fly separately, Norwegian Air Argentina from Aeroparque and JetSmart, from El Palomar. After the meeting scheduled for 06/03 today, ANAC and JetSmart will consider the issues on the agenda where the inspection body will determine the situation of the merger of both airlines with respect to operations in Aeroparque. Flybe deja de volar

AW-7008_TheguardianAW | 2020 03 05 07:03 | AIRLINES

AW-Icon AW001

Flybe British regional airline stops flying

1200px-Flybe_(purple).svg

The British regional airline Flybe challenged by growing competition, Brexit had sought help from the Government. But on the way back, the coronavirus has recently ended the illusion of continuing to fly regional skies.

Flybe, a regional airline that had flown to some of Britain’s most neglected corners, as well as vacation destinations, has ceased operations. In a notice on its website dated Thursday 05/03, Flybe said all of its flights had been canceled and that it could not make other arrangements for its passengers. He said the company had been put into administration and directed questions to Ernst & Young, the audit firm. «This is a sad day for UK aviation and we know that Flybe’s decision to stop the trade will be very distressing for all its employees and customers», said Richard Moriarty, Executive Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Great Britain, in a separate statement from the British. regulator.

The travel industry, in general, has been greatly affected by the worldwide outbreak of coronavirus, which has led large and small airlines to reduce flights while tourists stay at home. But the airline also faced other pressures, including intense competition with other low-cost airlines. It was also affected by uncertainty in the years before Britain’s departure from the European Union, which was formally completed more than a month ago. That process, known as Brexit, was widely regarded as a factor in last year’s collapse of Thomas Cook, the British travel agency.

Flybe had been arguing with British government officials about a rescue. In January 2020, worried that the disappearance of Flybe would reduce the service of the airlines to some corners of the country, Sajid Javid, then Chancellor of the Treasury, said the government would take new measures to support connectivity in Britain. «I appreciate Flybe’s confirmation that they will continue to operate normally, safeguarding jobs in the United Kingdom and ensuring that flights continue to serve communities throughout the United Kingdom», he said in a statement at the time. Mr. Javid left the office a month later.

But other airlines, including Virgin itself, are more directly exposed than Flybe to the crisis, first, cancel the main Chinese routes and then see the fall in demand that extends through global networks, as the International Association warned. of Air Transport (IATA) this week. On Wednesday 04/03, Virgin announced emergency measures, including reducing executive salaries, and urged other staff members to take unpaid vacations, after reservations were halved in recent days. Ryanair and EasyJet have canceled hundreds of flights to Italy and other destinations, while IAG and BA have even cut transatlantic services.

Apparently, no airline is immune, underlined by the view of US airline executives who met with Donald Trump this week to discuss the impact in a country where national aviation is much larger than international travel.

IATA is in the process of quickly reviewing its estimates, just a fortnight ago, of a blow to revenues of US$ 30 billion (£ 23 billion). Nobody knows, according to analysts and executives, how much this crisis will cost the airlines. But many warn that it already seems worse for the final result of the industry than the aftermath of September 11, 2001. AW-Icon AW002

AW-Icon AW001

AW-Jetsmart-NorwegianANAC requires JetSmart’s own aircraft for operations in Aeroparque

The National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) requires that the airline JetSmart Airlines Argentina present qualifying documents to operate with its own aircraft. Jet Smart will have a period of seven days to present to the ANAC the enabling documents and be able to operate at Jorge Newbery Airport (Aeroparque) with its own fleet of Airbus A320CEO aircraft in replacement of the Boeing 737-800 of the former Norwegian Air Argentina company, having agreed to an extension of the rental of these aircraft with the Norwegian company, according to airport sources.

The ANAC had authorized an extension of the lease (rental) with the Boeing 737-800 airplanes to avoid a conflictive situation with the passengers, since not being able to operate the Aeroparque flights, many would have remained without flying, with the consequent damage. For this reason, they have been granted a new deadline in the framework of a negotiation that is being carried out with the company’s managers to resolve the transition.

The company was on the verge this morning of not being able to comply with the scheduled flights from Aeroparque because ANAC did not authorize the operation with its own planes until it did not submit the relevant qualification documentation since one of the Norwegian Air Argentina had a deadline of 04/03 today, so the first Boeing 737-800 to be deprogrammed will return to its leasor tonight for Europe.

JetSmart acquired in December 2019 the cabotage company Norwegian Air Argentina, and among the conditions of the operation was that the company belonging to Indigo Partners Group temporarily rented the three aircraft that Norwegian owned in Argentina and then gradually returned them during the first months of this year to be replaced by its homogenized Airbus A320CEO fleet. In order to complete this replacement, JetSmart had to present a series of qualification documents of its own aircraft to operate the Norwegian Air Argentina routes from Aeroparque and ANAC sources indicated that at all times they were in contact with the company to request the presentation of said documentation, without this procedure being properly fulfilled. JetSmart Airlines Argentina has indicated that the company had submitted all the documentation and that they have not received specific requests for new documents or modifications.

ANAC Argentina

On the morning of 04/03 the Legal Department of the Administration of the ANAC, together with the Ministry of Labor, advanced on a rationale for the reasons why the authorization was not yet granted, and the sources consulted in the sector ratified that JetSmart «cannot operate Norwegian Air Argentina routes because it has not finished submitting the necessary documentation to complete the file. For example, the Wet Lease (which is a type of leasing contract) of Norwegian aircraft is not finalized, the company owes papers The operation request through a Wet Lease implies the accreditation, according to national regulations, of the operating conditions of JetSmart equipment and personnel under Norwegian conditions. In addition, the CESA (Operator Certificate of Air Services), which ANAC grants to companies to commercially exploit air transport, JetSmart must be amended as this document contains to find the characteristics of the operations you can perform».

The ANAC has indicated that the CESA that owns JetSmart enables them to operate regularly from El Palomar and not from Aeroparque, so an amendment is necessary and they noted that, although it is an administrative procedure that they had to make in advance, the presentation of the documentation does not necessarily imply approval, so it remains to know if the company can operate in Aeroparque Norwegian flights with its own aircraft. «When making the purchase of a company, it does not mean that the authorizations of the other company are transferred to you. The Operator Certificate must be amended to operate», they conclude from the ANAC. AW-Icon AW002
