Qatar Airways desembarca en JetSuiteX

AW | 2018 04 11 11:55 | AIRLINES

JetSuite no tenía tales escrúpulos. AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Qatar disembarks on JetSuiteX

Qatar Airways buys the small airline JetSuiteX of California

Qatar Airways has landed in the United States with the purchase of the JetSuiteX executive airline of the State of California. The Quatarí airline has entered the US market and, less than a year later, it rejected an attempt to buy a minority stake in American Airlines. The Persian Gulf company managed to join a California-based company called JetSuite, backed by JetBlue Airways.

JetSuite began more than a decade ago as a private aircraft company, primarily transporting business class passengers on corporate jets in the western United States. JetSuiteX has been investing in what is essentially its own airline, albeit with an unusual model.

JetSuiteX operates five Embraer E135 with 30 seats on the west coast, mainly in California and Nevada, with plans to add two more aircraft in the summer. JetSuiteX uses smaller airports, such as Burbank, near Los Angeles, and Concord in northern California, and operates from private air terminals, rather than passenger terminals.

JetSuite said on Tuesday that Qatar Airways would take a minority stake in JetSuiteX, and that its investment would be extended to JetSuiteX. JetBlue has also been an investor in JetSuite and on Tuesday, JetBlue said it would increase its stake. The terms and participation were not disclosed, but Alex Wilcox, CEO of JetSuite, said in an interview that Qatar’s investment complies with foreign investment laws for US airlines. Investors like Qatar Airways can not have more than 25 percent of the shares with voting rights and no more than 49 percent of the total economic participation. «It’s a game changer for us, we’re thrilled with the additional capital and we can expand and have a partner who appreciates the passenger experience», said Wilcox.

Qatar Airways is a major investor in other airlines, but its goals are often much larger than JetSuite. In particular, it owns 20 percent of International Airlines Group, which controls British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus and Vuelin, and 10 percent of LATAM, the South American airline. Last year, the airline initially wanted to buy 10 percent of American and then cut its proposal in half, but it left after US CEO Doug Parker called the proposal «puzzling.»

Rachel Porges, vice president of marketing for JetSuite, said JetSuiteX could expand to the east coast, perhaps in secondary airports near Boston, New York and Washington, DC She could even fly to Florida, he said. «Anywhere where there are unattended, overpopulated and frustrated travelers at airports, we believe that this model works», he said.

JetSuite did not have such scruples. The company said the money will not only help it expand its private aircraft business, but also help the charter airline expand into the western United States and beyond. For now, all JetSuiteX routes depart or arrive from California airports, with most routes 500 miles or less. The company plans to add 6 to 12 aircraft per year in the foreseeable future for the JetsuiteX fleet and with the new investments. A \ W

Aerolíneas 1° año Hub Córdoba

AW-0 (149)

AW | 2018 04 10 22:23 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Aerolíneas 1st year Hub Córdoba

Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral have increased flight capabilities from the interior of Argentina

The 30% of Aerolíneas Argentinas passengers use the Cordoba Hub to make flights to the interior and exterior of the country. The president of Aerolíneas Argentinas, Mario Dell’Acqua, celebrated the first year of the Hub Córdoba, a connector based at the Ambrosio Taravella airport, where flights arrive and depart to all parts of the country.

Hub Córdoba

The service started with four cities and now it has six. «The passengers arrive from the north of the country, disembark at Córdoba Airport and then depart on the same planes to six different destinations in the south, with 30% of passengers going down and up in Cordoba to other destinations. The best connected city in the country, very close to Buenos Aires The possibility of a strong base in Córdoba to connect the country, made the Argentines travel better It is not easy to make a hub because it supposes a high coordination and efficiency. 93% of punctuality to be able to do it, but it is impossible. We are with percentages of punctuality that are the best in Latin America», informed the CEO of Aerolineas Argentinas.

Since the start of the hubs program in Argentina, it has allowed the federalization of passenger traffic: «We are providing a better service so that people can choose us, today the Argentinean chooses us, the pride is that people can buy our tickets over others. and he does it».

The hub already represents 45% of the total number of passengers using intertracks, and in turn the percentage of passengers traveling by intertracks represents 13% of the total volume of users of the company.

Fleet aircraft

As for the aircraft fleet, the company has incorporated next-generation aircraft such as the Boeing 737-8 MAX, becoming the first airline in Latin America to receive this model of aircraft, among other additions that allowed the airline to offer more seats with fewer planes, thus lowering the price of the tickets.

Deficit reduction

The airline highlighted the commitment of a strong reduction in the company’s deficit. When referring to the deficit of the company has been reduced since the first year of management of the management Macri and the Minister of Transport Guillermo Dietrich and that next year they hope not to need funds from the Argentines to maintain it. «Aerolíneas had a deficit of 670 million dollars in the previous government and in a year there were 7 million passengers and $ 700 million of contributions from all Argentines, which was down, the first year US $ 340 million , last year to US $ 270 million and this year we have US $ 90 million in deficit, next year we will be ‘zero to zero’ and we will not need money from Argentines», he said.

The low-cost era

The CEO of Aerolíneas Argentinas has expressed that the impact that «low cost airlines may have, that nothing that is good for Argentines can be bad for Aerolíneas, competition is welcome, the planes that enter are good, they come with Argentine planes and If we were the only aviation company, nobody would appreciate our services, the competition is welcome, it forces us to make a greater effort, we prefer that they buy us and not give us, and the choice is this, to have several options and They choose us, we are 13 thousand people who work so that the company is more efficient every day and above all so that we have the pride of being chosen over others», he said. SAS ordena 50 Airbus A320NEO

AW | 2018 04 10 12:17 | AIRLINES

SAS orders 50 Airbus A320NEO

Resultado de imagen para SAS scandinavian logoScandinavian Airlines will buy 50 Airbus A320NEO aircraft with deliveries between 2019-2023

The Scandinavian airline, SAS Scandinavian Airlines has ordered Airbus to buy fifty A320NEOs for the renewal of its aircraft fleet. This order means that SAS will for the first time have a single-type fleet by 2023 that consists of the most efficient short and medium-range aircraft on the market in terms of cost and environment.

«A little over a year ago, we began to integrate the new Airbus A320NEO’s in stages, and since then we have received a very positive response from our customers, so I am delighted that, through this order, we can continue improving and investing in our customer offer and, therefore, in the future of SAS We are also creating a single, more efficient fleet for the first time Ordering 50 Airbus A320neos gives us access to the most efficient aircraft on the market , which allows us to further improve our operating efficiency and continue to reduce our emissions that impact the climate», says Rickard Gustafson, president and CEO of SAS.

«We are proud of this repeated commitment from SAS, the A320NEO will complement SAS ‘existing Airbus fleet, with unsurpassed fuel efficiency and lower operating costs and environmental footprint – the perfect choice for SAS to replace its generation aircraft This means that more SAS passengers will continue to enjoy the best comfort in the skies», said Eric Schulz, commercial director of Airbus Commercial Aircraft.

The Airbus A320NEO has a fuel consumption of the order of 15-20% lower per seat kilometer compared to the airplane that is gradually withdrawing from traffic. In addition, emissions that affect climate can be further reduced through the use of biofuels. Today, SAS already invests in biofuels and has also been working for several years to stimulate the increase in biofuels production.

The investments in the offer to the client and the efficiency improvements in the last years have contributed to the improvement of the profitability of SAS, which in turn has allowed the order of this aircraft. SAS is in the process of implementing SEK 3 billion in efficiency gains by 2020. SAS will have to continue to improve efficiency even after 2020. The renewal of the aircraft fleet together with the implementation of the single-type fleet means that SAS can take efficiency improvements of its operations to the next level.

SAS owns 17 Airbus A320NEOs in its fleet in service of a previous order of 30 units. Today’s order means that SAS will have at least 80 Airbus A320NEO’s in service during 2023. The order for 50 Airbus A320NEO’s is divided into two parts. The first 15 new Airbus A320NEO’s, with deliveries from the spring of 2019 to 2021, have been secured through declarations of intent with lessors. The remaining 35 Airbus A320NEO’s are planned to be delivered directly by Airbus until 2023.

The aircraft order also includes options for five additional A320NEO’s. In addition, SAS has the possibility of increasing the number of aircraft that can be rented to lessors. Together with existing aircraft, this also creates flexibility for growth in the right circumstances.

The aircraft will be financed through a combination of financial leases, sale and leaseback, and cash flow generated by our own operations. All aircraft will be equipped with SAS high-speed WiFi and will have the new SAS cabin interiors.

Fleet homogenization

SAS worked on the harmonization and simplification of its aircraft fleet between 2000-2010. Currently, SAS has two types of aircraft in service within Europe, compared to six different types in 2012. In line with the deliveries of the new Airbus A320NEO’s, SAS will begin phasing out the Boeing 737 line and the existing Airbus A320 aircraft. oldest At the same time, SAS will further simplify its fleet of aircraft in a single-type fleet consisting of Airbus aircraft on short, medium and long haul routes. This will lead to greater flexibility and allow more standardization and improvements in production efficiency.

As a whole, this aircraft order will provide SAS with an extremely competitive aircraft fleet in terms of environmental impact, customer comfort and cost efficiency.

The list price of the 35 A320NEO aircraft, including the engines, purchased directly from Airbus amounts to just under US $ 4 billion, before the discounts agreed between SAS and Airbus. The other 15 A320NEO aircraft will be leased to leasing companies. SAS has not yet selected the engines that will be used in these aircraft. The order to Airbus is made by SAS and its wholly-owned subsidiary Gorm Asset Management Ltd. A \ W

Flybondi derrapa en puntualidad

AW | 2018 04 09 23:25 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Flybondi skids on punctuality

Flight again suspended, passengers stranded at Mendoza Airport

The low cost company Flybondi is going through cancellation problems on many scheduled flights. Another fact has occurred today with a Mendoza-Buenos Aires flight that was canceled on time, and according to comments the company has not formulated any response to the passengers. Air travel users can not get other flights on the same day to travel to Buenos Aires.

Although the Government of Argentina has authorized the operation of new classic and low cost companies, it is important that adequate supervision and effective monitoring be achieved in order to comply with the necessary requirements to guarantee not only the safety of an airline but also the duties that are imposed on them as a means of air transport, in this way they would avoid violations of the rights of passengers.

The negative effect that looms over the low cost airline Flybondi Líneas Aéreas did not stop raining critics for the cancellation of flights, the changes in the itinerary, the delays, the luggage transported by land, etc., is far from being able to offer a good service.

The company has had to struggle with setbacks due to the limitations imposed on the El Palomar Airport in the Province of Buenos Aires, we can understand the implications involved and the adjustments that it entails, but it is necessary to readjust its operations policy before the incidents and the effect negative that it causes in the press and users.

The next low cost to start operations is Norwegian Air Argentina, which already has an operating aircraft, but is more cautious when it comes to starting its start-up, wishing to start operations by mid 2018 without setbacks.

The Government of Argentina is investing a lot in infrastructure, training and employment sources with the arrival of more airlines to the country, has decided that the «Revolution of the Aircraft» is the door that opens many opportunities for Argentina, and that we all want to go in that healthy direction.

The Dallas-based airline Love Field, Texas is a low-cost company with extensive aviation experience in the United States, has launched international operations, which would require more aircraft of its kind. For this, the airline has asked Boeing to increase its fleet bringing a benefit in the tax reductions and a growing demand for travel. Southwest Airlines has not reported the size of the order to agree with Boeing, nor the types of aircraft in its variants of the new generation MAX, but has announced an attempt of around 500 new aircraft.

«I do not expect that we will have access to more deliveries this year, so it probably would not start before next year.» With the additional capital, we are working on ways to better serve our customers and the first place we want to look at is to continue modernizing our fleet», said CEO Gary Kelly.

Southwest is the world’s largest operator of Boeing 737 aircraft. In 2017, the operator became the launch customer for the B737-8 MAX type (officially Batik Airlines), as well as the newly shortened Boeing 737-7 MAX vault. . The company has received the delivery of 14 Boeing 737-8 MAX and the initial delivery as a launch customer of a Boeing 737-7 MAX. The current Southwest Airlines fleet also operates a total of 513 B737-700 and 190 B737-800 Next Generation.

The previous orders to this new order are orders of 196 Boeing 737-8 MAX and 30 Boeing 737-7 MAX as well as 4 last Boeing 737-800 ordered from the manufacturer Boeing. In January 2018, Southwest requested 23 Boeing 737-7 MAXs, for which it is the world’s largest announced customer, which would span an acquisition period between 2023-2024. A \ W
