Demoras vuelos Aerolíneas/Austral

AW | 2017 11 13 19:11 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

New delays in Aerolíneas / Austral flights

A new stoppage in air transport in Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral Líneas Aéreas has generated delays in some services today

The reason for the measure is for a «remove from collaboration» of the pilots, so about 15 cabotage and regional flights of Aerolíneas Argentinas suffered delays. The airline has reported that there were more than 2,000 passengers affected, attributing the measure by the union force. «The delays are the result of a lack of collaboration from the pilots, who started an assembly during the morning,» the company said in a statement.

Although the delayed parties were 15, Aerolíneas Argentinas have reported that the return routes of those flights will be affected today. Also affected are flights from the company Austral Líneas Aéreas, whose pilots await the definition of the salary increase grid. «This action, in the middle of union negotiations, is already affecting more than 2,000 passengers with reservations for Monday», he said.

Until 2:00 p.m., they indicated, they had departed with delays flights to Comodoro Rivadavia, Posadas, Iguazu, San Pablo, Bariloche (2), Cordoba, Porto Alegre, Chapelco, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Esquel, Montevideo, San Juan and Santiago of Chile. After the afternoon Aerolíneas Argentinas reported that the situation «is being regularized little by little», although flights were still starting with delays of «half an hour to an hour and a half». Given these complications, the flag line recommended their customers to call 0810-222-86527 or check the status of their flights on their website.

The drawbacks occurred within the framework of a stagnant salary discussion, with the parties very far from reaching an agreement. At the end of October, a measure of force paralyzed all the flights for more than a day and more than 40,000 people were stranded. A \ W

Cierra Island Air de Hawaii

Island-Air-Q400.jpg

AW | 2017 11 11 11:31 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Island Air of Hawaii closes operations

The second largest airline in Hawaii, Island Air, has announced the closing of operations

Island Air, which has about 400 employees, applied for bankruptcy protection on October 16, 2017 after the landlord tried to seize the three remaining Bombardier 8-Q400 aircraft from the company for nonpayment. Island Air suspended all operations today, November 11, because the company is experiencing financial problems attributed in part to the «aggressive legal attacks» of aircraft lessors.

The airline lost money every quarter for the past four years. Island Air has flown inter-island services for 37 years. Island Air had recently acquired five Bombardier Q400s, replacing a previous fleet of five ATR turboprops.

The airline transported 13% of all available seats on Hawaiian Airlines, which transported 80% of the seats in that market during the period, according to the hours of the week. Island Air recorded a net loss of $ 8.2 million and an operating loss of $ 4.9 million in the second quarter of 2017, according to data from the US government. UU

The airline said in a message on its website that passengers need to contact their company to inquire about refunds. Hawaiian Airlines said it will endorse Island Air tickets during the next week. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Avianca pilots suspend strike

More than half of the Avianca pilots in Colombia decided to suspend the 51-day strike

The striking pilots will return to their work activities in the next 72 hours, a measure that will allow the airline to normalize its air operations, announced Friday the union that groups the crew.

The cessation of activities of some 700 unionized pilots in the Colombian Association of Civil Aviators (ACDAC) began on September 20, 2017 after they failed to reach agreements with Avianca, in a labor dispute that included wage increases and other benefits that the company considered exaggerated.

«ACDAC and the unionized civilian aviators, as a result of the intervention of the ombudsman, have decided to suspend the cessation of activities, resume air operations 72 hours after the signing of this document and thus normalize their work activities», said an act signed by the pilots’ union.

The mediation of the ombudsman, Carlos Alfonso Negret, was decisive for the pilots to suspend the strike, even though Avianca did not respond to the call to participate in the meetings. Negret undertook to ensure respect for the labor rights of the pilots who participated in the strike and who fear reprisals by the company. Immediately there was no reaction from Avianca to the decision of the aviators. According to the labor laws of Colombia, the cessation of activities could not exceed 60 days and the labor dispute must be settled by an arbitration tribunal.

The pilots’ strike reduced the operation of the airline by more than 50 percent and the movement of passengers inside Colombia and on its international flights. In the midst of the cessation of activities, a court declared the strike illegal, but the union appealed to a court, while the government convened an arbitration tribunal and the pilots ignored an ultimatum from the airline to reintegrate their activities and avoid prosecution. disciplines that could end in layoffs.
