AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

On November 16, the shareholders of California Pacific Airlines held a meeting to detail their base of operations in Carlsbad, State of California.

CEO Patrick Vallas, along with Chief Operating Officer Paul Hook, announced that California Pacific Airlines (CPAir) purchased a 58-year-old airline, which currently flies as SkyValue Airways. The small airline makes scheduled flights from Denver to small cities in the Midwest, operates a large charter flight service based in Kennesaw, Georgia, for numerous NCAA college teams.

CPAir expects to take off from McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad by April 2018, flying to six airports: Sacramento, Oakland, San Jose, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Cabo San Lucas. The airline plans to have fifteen daily flights to these destinations.

Patrick Vallas, who funded most of the initial cost, said he will spend $ 500,000 in promotion for the airline and Carlsbad Airport. The president and CEO of SkyValue Airways, Darrell Richardson, will remain in that position under CPAir.

Since 2007, Patick Vallas has been working on a model airline of the former Pacific Southwest Airlines, based in San Diego (acquired by USAir in 1988). «We are not a feeder airline, we will fly people to destinations and then take them back home.North San Diego County has more population now than when PSA flew in. These four-star hotels, the new FedEx buildings and all the new corporate industrial buildings near the airport have been built because this airline was going to start», explained Patrick Vallas.

The president of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, Ted Owen, confirmed during the meeting that the city approved the construction of 1.8 million square feet of industrial space for offices in the last 12 months. Jessica Northrup, San Diego County communications officer for land use and environmental concerns, confirmed that on November 14, «the county received a request from CPAir and is currently reviewing it to determine if it is complete».

Resultado de imagen para california pacific airlines logoLast year, the airline had several failed attempts at FAA certifications. But, now that it has obtained the FAA Certification, the projected operation of CPAir will be the largest commercial airline operation Carlsbad Airport ever had.

The company has obtained five regional Embraer E-145 jets, with options to buy two larger and larger Embraer E-170 jets. The 50-seat jets will be reduced to 44 seats to allow greater passenger comfort. «These jets fly faster than a 737, and they’re perfect for fast ups and downs, even bathrooms are bigger than the 757», said Paul Hook.

Avion+Boeing+737+Flybondi.png

Primeros destinos

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Arriving first B737-800 of Flybondi

The first Boeing 737-800 of Flybondi Lineas Aéreas will arrive this Wednesday, November 15 to Argentina

With the arrival of the first Boeing 737-800 of the low cost airline Flybondi, the presence of a new market and scenario in Argentina is consolidated. Flybondi has communicated through his Twitter account the preliminary images before the arrival in Argentina of the first Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft with register LV-HSK for domestic flights. The first Boeing 737-800 will arrive this Wednesday, November 15, 2017. The aircraft is configured with 189 passengers in a single class.

The «low cost» company will operate from El Palomar Air Base starting in April 2018 and expects to reach a fleet of 10 Boeing 737-800 by 2018. Eight will have their base at El Palomar Airport, while the remaining two will be in the Base Córdoba.

flybondi AW-03112017

First destinations

The destinations of Flybondi to be covered in this first stage will be from Córdoba and Buenos Aires to Bariloche, Mendoza, Iguazú and Ushuaia.

El Palomar Project

Flybondi would not be the only company to operate commercially from El Palomar Airport, whose track was already used during the reforms in Aeroparque, because it was in better condition than Morón. To the confirmation of Flybondi would be added the airline of Norwegian cappitales Norwegian Air Argentina, which has expressed interest in operating its low cost flights from El Palomar Airport «if the government decides to build there a base for low-cost airlines», sources indicated of the airline.

«We would use El Palomar for our low cost flights and the Aeroparque for flights destined to the corporate sector or those that choose tickets at regular prices», highlighted the airline Flybondi.

The Minister of Transportation, Guillermo Dietrich, had anticipated that with the regionalization project planned for April 2108, El Palomar Airport would become «the third airport in the Metropolitan Area». In the municipality they celebrate in advance and have already made their observations. As they could not change the place of the terminal, which is built to the north of the Base, near the tracks of the San Martín FFCC, Dietrich was asked to project a highway that goes along Arroyo Road, from Acceso Oeste to Ruta 4 That work would completely relieve the heavy traffic on Vergara. In part the Municipality has solved the problem, since it paved what was missing from Cañada de Juan Ruiz to Colectora.

It is the Government itself that encouraged the arrival of more airlines, despite the criticism of the aeronautical guilds of Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral Líneas Aéreas. «It will be a Low Cost terminal so that all the airlines that request it fly», said the Minister about the work at El Palomar Air Base.

Ezeiza and Aeroparque operate regular commercial flights in the metropolitan area. In this sense, Guillermo Dietrich expressed that «Aeroparque has saturation of flights and lack of space since in certain hours there are between 26 and 28 takeoffs or landings per hour».

The opening of more air routes that drives the Government of Argentina will inject more capital, more investments, more tourism, jobs and more enthusiasm to do things with high flight. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

The experience of Southwest in Boeing 737 MAX

The new Boeing 737-8 MAX from Southwest Airlines offers the latest and greatest flight efficiency

Southwest Airlines has entered its first month of operations with a fleet of 10 Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft. The introduction of a new aircraft implies a period of adaptation in all the areas involved.

The experience in this first month has thrown some inconveniences of the initiation of a new airplane to the fleet. While the drawbacks were not serious, they served as a reminder of the challenges of putting a new airplane into commercial service, even for an operator such as Southwest that flies a fleet of only the 737 line.

Adaptation to «MAX»

The homogenization of the Southwest fleet on its 737 line has allowed us to observe even an adaptation to the new model 737 MAX with respect to the fleet of the line 737SG (Second Generation) and 737NG (Next Generation). Some problems of your own for example in the nose gear (landing gear) of the MAX is eight inches higher, so the workers of the ramp should look for a stool to connect the plane to the ground in the door. The bridge of the remote control must be readjusted to eliminate space. And new procedures are needed for everything from pre-flight check-ups to aircraft parking, said Southwest Airlines spokeswoman Brandy King.

Airlines will carefully observe Southwest’s experience, because late arrivals at the gate can increase costs. It is no small thing for an airplane that will transport billions of travelers around the world during the next decades, since the almost 4,000 MAX airplanes that are already in order replace the existing single-aisle aircraft, the workhorses of the fleets of global airlines.

«They will look up everyone’s data and see what works and where people are having problems», said Mark Drusch of consultancy ICF Inc., in reference to American Airlines Group Inc. and other operators that will soon fly the brand new «MAX». Airlines such as Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, Lion Mentari Airlines PT, Westjet Airlines, Air Canada, Silk Air, Malindo Air and FlyDubai are already operating the Boeing 737 MAX.

Southwest Airlines has had a punctuality factor of 75% of the arrivals of the Boeing 737-8 MAX in October, compared with 87% of the Boeing 737-800 and 83% of the Boeing 737-700, according to data provided by FlightAware, a flight tracking service. The exit rates were more or less the same. The 10 new Boeing 737-8 MAX jets were used in just over 1% of Southwest Airlines flights during the month of October, which marked the entry into service of «MAX» for a US operator.

«The slowness is only temporary, the introduction of a new type of aircraft for the fleet comes with a pronounced learning curve. Adjustments should be made to any new aircraft, including one from the same family», observes Brandy King, Operations Director Mike Van de Ven told investors last month that there were «no surprises or unexpected problems».

There was also some good news for Southwest in the first month of operations of the «MAX». Even in the late October, the plane outperformed the old Boeiong 737-300 to replace it. Those planes, the oldest of the Dallas-based transporter, had 69% of punctuality when they left the fleet.

Boeing is satisfied so far with the performance of the Boeing 737-8 MAX in fuel economy, less maintenance and lower noise pollution (dB levels) than previous generations. «We anticipate some minor problems as part of the normal course of operations» said Adam Tischler, spokesman for The Boeing Company based in Chicago.

The Suriname airline, Surinam Airways is evaluating the optimization of the recursus of its fleet of medium and wide range of action. With regard to regional flights, the airline will use two Boeing 737-300 aircraft instead of three, this translates into savings of resources in SLM.

From the airline indicates that the flow chart of the flights would not suffer modifications or inconveniences. Unlike the previous organization chart, the aircraft used consider that they will cover the demanded routes. «We have noticed that we can also do it with two machines, according to our current calculations, we would also save it with possible delays», says SLM director Robbi Lachmising.

Renewal of the fleet in Surinam Airways
There are also plans to fly to Cuba. The airline wants to invest in cheaper machines. «For March-April 2018, SLM will be able to put its own Boeing 737-700 into operation for the next seven or eight years», said Lachmising. As regards the mid-Atlantic route, some decisions must be made. In the end, the Airbus A340-300 will be replaced. You think of a Boeing 787 «Dreamliners».  A \ W

Surinam Airways optimaliseert diensten
