AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Aerolíneas with less subsidies for 2018

AA-AU Isologotype.pngAerolíneas confirmed that this 2018 will require subsidies for less than US $ 90 million

The CEO of Aerolíneas Argentinas, Mario Dell’Acqua, announced that the company will not require more than US $ 90 million in subsidies and confirmed that the process to change the fleet of the Embraer 190 aircraft used by Austral has already begun. greater bearing

Aerolineas Argentinas reported that in January 2018 it had transported 675,000 tickets but we transported 1,240,000 passengers flying 5% more year-on-year, so operating expenses were even higher, but this equation reverts in the second half of 2017, highlighting that accounts are much better than a few years ago.

The executive also noted that currently, with a turnover of US $ 2,400 million, the State subsidy is US $ 6.3 per passenger, while in the previous administration it was US $ 100. «There are 10 % more passengers transported than last year and, while in 2015 35,000 passengers were flying per day, today the average is 40,000, with a record of 45,000 on a single day in December», he said.

Change fleet for Austral and Aerolíneas

The process of renewing Austral Líneas Aéreas aircraft fleet began. In January 2018 Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Embraer were called to offer a progressive replacement of the Austral Líneas Aéreas fleet. The first stage would incorporate 12 aircraft, which could be completed by mid-year and then a second stage would be completed to complete the rest of the aircraft needed for the operations of the regional airline. «The change will be progressive because it depends on the availability of the factory, being necessary the training of the pilots for the new aircraft», he said.

Persiguiendo el Boeing 797

AW | 2018 02 13 12:09 | INDUSTRY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Chasing the Boeing 797

Boeing-Company-LogoBoeing last details to launch the Boeing 797

The Boeing Company would be finalizing the configuration details of the new member of the family, the Boeing 797

The proposed Boeing 797 would have a design similar to that of this model that was first shown in the late 1980s. Eventually Boeing expected to be covering a gap between the Boeing 737 and the Boeing 787, where the Boeing 757 was abandoned. The Boeing 797 proposed by Boeing, there will be a plane that all passengers will love.

The American aerospace giant would be at the gates for the launch of the newest commercial wide-body aircraft, tentatively called «Boeing 797». Boeing is expected to launch the intermediate market widebody at the upcoming Farnborough Air Show 2018, which will take place in Great Britain in July 2018.

Development of the Boeing 797

The next Boeing 797 mid-range of autonomy will be an aircraft that will allow performance improvements well above the Boeing 757.

american-airlines-boeing-797-fsx1.jpg

NEW BOEING 797

The Boeing 797 will be a revolutionary aircraft made of composite material like the 787 and will be able to economically connect hundreds of new nonstop routes between smaller cities. It will have a seat configuration distributed in 2-3-2 in economy, 1-2-2 in economy premium and 1-1-1 in business class with huge compartments for luggage. The Boeing 797 will have capacity for between 220 and 270 passengers and will fly between 10 and 11 hours non-stop. It will have a unique oval fuselage, only possible with a composite structure, it will be in a diameter one step between the Boeing 767 and a 737.

Moving the line

Recently Boeing moved one of its best engineers, Terry Beezhold, to the program that indicates that the beginning of the Boeing 797 Program is very serious. Mr. Beezhold has had leading roles in the Boeing 787 and was a project engineer in the Boeing 777X. long range, which will fly in 2019.

Concept of the ’80s

Both Boeing and McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing) tried to interest airlines in the concept in the 1980s, but could not get enough buyers at that time.

Boeing 797

BOEING ATMR MODEL DEVELOPED IN THE DECADE OF ’80

Making the Boeing 797 so special is the fact that it is designed from the ground up to serve half-way routes of up to 9,300 km and will reduce fuel costs by 25% to 30% compared to the Boeing 787 .

Market for the Middle-range

The new concept of widebody aircraft that Boeing will introduce will reinforce sales and dominate the market where it has left a gap after the departure of the Boeing 757, and where Airbus is winning the battle with the A321NEO LR. The Boeing 797 will undoubtedly dominate the market in the segment of aircraft in the mid-range category.

Boeing says there are 30,000 pairs of cities that are not connected and could be serviced economically with the 797. The challenge for today’s airlines is that Boeing offers seat 737 of 180-230 that can only fly economically for about six hours, while that the next smallest aircraft in the Boeing range is the 787 seat of 250-350 that has been designed for much longer distances and therefore carries a large amount of additional structural weight to transport the required fuel. There is a similar, though minor, gap in the range of Airbus aircraft. The Boeing 797 will sit perfectly between them and will give airlines great opportunities to open new routes.

Closing agreements

Boeing is very advanced in closing the business case and has discussed the plane with 57 airlines and the reaction has been enthusiastic. Boeing expects to have the first flight and certification in 2024 with delivery to airlines in early 2025. A \ W

Disputa aerocomercial Boeing-Airbus

AW-747003801

AW | 2018 02 13 10:37 | INDUSTRY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Boeing-Airbus aerocommercial dispute

Boeing would confront Airbus for illegal subsidies

Image resultThe Boeing Company is waiting to conclude the case denounced to the International Trade Organization (WTO) where it accuses Arbus of abuses for illegal subsidies.

Since Boeing is still still breathing for the shock of losing his case before the US commercial courts against the demand for alleged abuses by bombardier for sales of CSeries aircraft to Delta Air Lines at low prices.

Resultado de imagen para Boeing 747 pngBoeing-Airbus case

Boeing now expects an imminent failure in a larger commercial fight over government subsidies. In a case against Airbus, which has lasted almost 15 years, Boeing now insists that he is about to achieve a final victory. The dispute adds a new margin of resentment and risk.

Resultado de imagen para A380 png

The United States filed a lawsuit against Airbus in the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2004, and since then the gears of that court have been slowly reduced without any discernible impact. However, Boeing’s chief lawyer, Michael Luttig, said in an interview that the law is about to catch up with Airbus and the European Union (EU).

Airbus compared the threat of tariffs to «a nuclear attack» and pointed to the parallel case before the WTO that accuses Boeing of receiving subsidies. The risk of a multinational trade war breaking out with some of the country’s closest allies seems suddenly higher.

In September 2016, after several procedural steps and appeals, the latest ruling in the United States case against Airbus in the WTO found that the European aircraft manufacturer had failed to remedy Boeing’s damage from the illegal subsidies. The EU appealed immediately. What is to come this year, by the end of spring, is the final decision on that appeal.

If Airbus loses, said Bob Novick, Boeing’s external advisor in the WTO dispute since 2003 and former general counsel of the US Trade Representative, the United States will immediately request authorization to impose retaliatory sanctions. Boeing anticipates that the WTO will set the level of sanctions at $ 10 billion to $ 15 billion. The US government could apply punitive tariffs up to that amount on the EU goods it selects to obtain maximum political impact.

Boeing’s harsh words can be in part a negotiation ploy. Jeff Bialos, a partner in the international law firm Eversheds Sutherland and a former Commerce Department official in charge of major commercial litigation, said that normally at that final point in a trade dispute, the two governments would negotiate some agreed-upon agreement.

The top executive of Airbus warned that Boeing is on the lookout for its own illegal subsidies in the parallel case of the WTO presented by the EU and, therefore, whatever the US does, the EU can match its claim.

An uncomfortable detail for the EU is that its case against Boeing was filed as a counter-claim about nine months after the US. UU They filed a lawsuit against Airbus, delaying the case of EE. UU For about that period of time. The decision on Boeing’s appeal will not be issued until the end of this year or even the next.

If Boeing’s 15-year quest to sue Airbus at the WTO has been tenacious, the legal attack it launched on Bombardier in April 2017 was even more aggressive. Although Boeing failed in the attack, pushing the case had consequences for the American company. Geoffrey Gertz, a researcher on trade policy at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC, said that in the sale of aircraft to Delta Air Lines won by Bombardier’s CSeries was central to the case, there was not much at stake for Boeing because it was not offering their own aircraft against the smallest plane. However, prosecuting the case distanced both the Canadian and British governments, putting large defense contracts at risk. It also antagonized the largest commercial aviation customer, Delta Air Lines. A \ W

Azores vuela en quinta libertad

AW | 2018 02 13 09:33 | AIRLINES ROUTES / GOVERNMENT

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

The so-called «fifth freedom» is a request from airlines to allow a company to make a route from a third country, in this case, outside the European Union (EU), make a stopover in another country for passenger traffic or load, and continue your flight to another country.

The Fifth Freedom of the Air refers to the right or privilege granted by one state to another to embark or disembark in the territory of the first state of traffic originating or destined for a third state. This right refers not only to passenger traffic, but also to mail and air cargo and is subject to agreements between states.

The IDAC is supervising, together with a team of technicians, the total fleet of the company’s aircraft. They plan to resume operations at Sint Maarten, Aruba, Curacao, San Juan, Puerto Rico and Havana, Cuba.

«We have taken the decision to place under the control of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), the goods and properties that Pawa has in the country, until the company honors its commitments with the Dominican State», said Alejandro Herrera. However, Pawa officials said the company would be subject to bankruptcy law.

Herrera said that the Civil Aeronautics authorities do not have a finished inventory of the cost of the equipment and goods that the airline has in the country, under the responsibility of the Venezuelan businessman Simeón García. The General Director of the company is the North American Gary Stone, who traveled abroad, after a commitment he signed with the authorities of Civil Aeronautics, through which he promised to return to the country when required by both the IDAC and the Board of Directors. Civil Aviation (JAC). Alejandro Herrera meant that Stone was allowed to leave the country because he himself does not have the capacity according to the Dominican State, but rather the owner of the airline, the Venezuelan Simeón García, who is said to be in Miami, Florida.

The Venezuelan businessman Simeón García, is the owner of Pawa Dominicana, as well as the airlines Aserca and Santa Bárbara Airlines in the Republic of Venezuela, who has to answer about the US $ 7.8 million owed to the Dominican State.

Also Pawa Dominicana, which will not be able to fly for three months, has millionaire debts with different private airport services institutions, including the 21st Century Dominican Airports Consortium (Aerodom), to which it owes the sum of US $ 1.5 million. A \ W

Norwegian inicia non-stop a Argentina

AW | 2018 02 12 22:00 | AIRLINES ROUTES

Start-up Norwegian Air Argentina

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Norwegian Air Shuttle starts flights to Argentina

AW-700007877Norwegian Air Shuttle will begin flights this Thursday, February 15, 2018 to Argentina

The Norwegian low cost company Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA will start this Thursday February 15, 2018 to fly to Argentina with Boeing 787-8 aircraft. The inaugural London-Buenos Aires non-stop flight will be the first of four weekly flights that will have a value from US $ 420 per stretch.

Norwegian Air Shuttle is the third lowest cost in Europe, with 9,000 employees, 500 routes and 150 destinations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Thailand, the Caribbean, the USA and South America.

CEO Bjorn Kjos of Norwegian Air projected that 30% of Norwegian’s global routes will be centered in Argentina in a span of five to ten years, generating work for some four thousand Argentines and a total investment of US $ 4.3 billion. , 72 cabotage destinations and 80 international routes, from a total of 152 destinations.

The new project to fly to Sudaméria, according to analysts and investors, will require a strong investment, which when competing, other low-cost continue to consolidate to achieve advantages. Norwegian competitors are in a much more healthy debt situation that would allow them more aggressive when adding fleet to lower prices in the face of a higher fuel increase, and consider that Norwegian’s strategy has several positive points, although its Strong application in business in Argentina may be too risky for a project not as consolidated as others.

Start-up Norwegian Air Argentina

The start-up Norwegian Air Argentina, a subsidiary of the Norwegian parent company, will be ready to start operations. Initially, it was planned for July 2018, but sources of the project stipulate an opening of the opening in Argentina for October or November 2018, moving a few months of the stipulated.

Norwegian’s most ambitious plan is established in Argentina, where it will have to face competitors mainly with Flybondi, which for 4Q2018 will be consolidated in the Argentine market. Other airlines that will compete are Aerolíneas Argentinas / Austral, Latam Airlines, Avianca, Andes Líneas Aéreas among other operators.

The Norwegian Air Argentina project plans to incorporate seventy Boeing 737-800 aircraft, establishing its operational base at the El Palomar International Airport. A \ W

AW | 2018 02 12 19:42 | INDUSTRY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Mitsubishi MRJ-90 refines program

Mitsubishi Aircraft continues with testing programs

The Mitsubishi Aircraft company continues to actively work on the flight test program for the new MRJ-90 regional aircraft. Now it involves four prototypes, which flew more than 1,700 hours, which is more than half the volume planned according to the certification of the new aircraft, reports Blomberg.

As representatives of the Mitsubishi Aircraft note, the new cars proved reliable enough. Due to technical problems, only 1% of planned departures were canceled since the beginning of the test program. In general, the first four aircraft are checked for the performance of the machines and the functionality of their systems.

In the near future, it is planned to install a series of updates for the experienced MRJ-90 aircraft, designed to guarantee the elimination of all identified deficiencies. In particular, some changes have already been made in the design of the aircraft. The most important is the modernization of the radioelectronic equipment compartment in the fourth test aircraft, which includes the movement of the avionics components and the redirection of the wiring to comply with the certification requirements.

Until the end of the year, two more aircraft should join the four prototypes participating in the certification tests. These aircraft take into account the improvements and, therefore, the fifth and sixth prototypes will be used for the final part of the certification tests. The fifth MRJ-90 has already been assembled, but so far it has only been used for ground tests at the base in Nagoya (Japan).

At the launch of the MRJ-90 program in 2008, it was assumed that the customer will receive a start of their first airplane in 2013, however, due to several delays and the need to finalize the first time delivery machines were changed to 2020. By program of MRJ certification involved not only in Japanese but also representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration of the USA (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (AESA).

In August of last year, due to the increase of the PW1200G gear motor, the flight test program was temporarily suspended. As of today, all the problems identified with the PW1200G engines have been eliminated by the Pratt & Whitney specialists, which allowed the certification of new regional aircraft to continue. As noted by the engine manufacturer, problems with the engines were caused by the malfunction of one of the components, and not by any constructive defect. A \ W

Accidente 6W704 An-148 Saratov Airlines

AW-700008899.jpg

AW | 2018 02 12 19:05 | AIR INVESTIGATION / AVIATION SAFETY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Accident flight 6W704 An-148 Saratov Airlines

Airplane crash of an Antonov An-148 of Saratov Airlines

Flight 6W703 of the Russian airline Saratov Airlines, an Antonov An-148, was destroyed after hitting the ground near Stepanovskoye, Russsia. All 65 passengers and 6 crew members died.

The Antonov An-148 aircraft took off from runway 14R at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport at 2:21 p.m., local time (11:21 UTC). The last contact on the flight tracking website Flightradar24 was at 2:27 p.m. Before that loss of contact, it was in a steep descent from 6400 feet. The plane hit a snowfield and disintegrated.

The weather on departure time at Domodedovo Airport included limited visibility (2100m) during light snowfall. The temperature was -5 ° C, cloud cover at 2600 feet.

Researchers remain puzzled over the cause of the Saratov Airlines crash in which the 71 people on board were killed, but one theory is that the ice in the engine caused an explosion that toppled Antonov. Most of the plane’s remains were found near the Russian border with Kazakhstan.

The twin-engine regional jet An-148 bound for Orsk in the southern Urals fell a few minutes after taking off from Domodedovo airport in Moscow on Sunday afternoon. All 65 passengers and six crew members on board were killed.

Russian investigators quickly ruled out a terrorist attack but will not speculate on the possible reasons for the accident. The accident has rekindled questions about the An-148, as the safety history of the model is irregular, with a previous accident and a series of major incidents in which the pilots struggled to land safely. Saratov Airlines has grounded several other An-148s in its fleet awaiting the shock probe.

The Investigation Committee, Russia’s leading state research agency, said the plane was intact and that there was no fire on board before it fell to the ground.

The plane’s fuel tanks exploded on impact, scattering debris in 30 hectares in the deep snow, according to the Emergency Ministry, which used drones to direct the search.

Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told a cabinet meeting that emergency teams have found flight data and cockpit conversation recorders, which are crucial in determining the cause of the accident.

The airline said that the captain of the plane had more than 5,000 hours of flight time, 2,800 of them in an An-148. The other pilot had 812 hours of experience, mainly in that model.

Despite the movement of Saratov Airlines to connect its An-148, another Russian operator of the plane, Angara, based in Irkutsk, in eastern Siberia, said it will continue to fly. Russian government agencies that also operate the plane have not grounded them either.

Production of the aircraft in Russia was stopped last year due to low demand and media reports indicated that some operators, including Saratov Airlines, were experiencing a shortage of spare parts. Apparently, some airlines had to cannibalize some of their planes to keep others in a position to fly.

Among the main problems, in March 2011, an An-148 crashed during a training flight in Russia, killing all six crew members on board. The investigators blamed the pilot’s mistake. A \ W
