European Commission certifies airline safety Moldova

The European Commission (EC) considered this Thursday 25/11 safe all airlines certified in Moldova, eliminating from the list of airlines subject to a ban or operating restrictions in the European Union (EU) for failing to comply with international safety standards, but it included another Russian operator.

AW-Air Moldova_A32020002

The EC explained in a statement that it decided to remove Moldovan airlines from the blacklist due to improvements in aviation security in the country, while in the case of the Russian it expressed concern about its ability to comply with the international standards. Air Moldova, the country’s main airline, has benefited from the update of the safety regulations for its country. For the European Commissioner for Transport, Adina-Ioana Vălean, “Ensuring the highest level of aviation security for Europeans and all other passengers traveling to and within the European Union is a fundamental aspect of the Commission’s aviation security policy. Maintaining the highest level of security for all air travelers and staff is a top priority. The EU aviation safety list continues to be one of our most effective tools to achieve this, after two years of intense work, opening the door for them to fly to the European Union again”.

According to the Commission, the EU aviation safety list not only helps to maintain high levels of safety within the community, but also helps airlines and the countries involved to improve levels of aviation safety. In addition, it has become an important preventive tool, allowing countries to be motivated to take early action before a ban is necessary.

The update of the European Air Safety List a total of 97 airlines are prohibited from accessing the skies of the European Union, reaching ninety certified airlines in fifteen countries due to inadequate security supervision by the aviation authorities of those states. Seven other airlines have identified serious security deficiencies, including Avior Airlines (Venezuela), Blue Wing Airlines (Suriname), Iran Aseman Airlines (Iran), Iraqi Airways (Iraq), Med-View Airlines (Nigeria), Skol Airline LLC (Russia) and Air Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe). Similarly, two other airlines are subject to operational restrictions and can only fly to the EU with specific aircraft types: Iran Air (Iran) and Air Koryo (North Korea).

The EC noted that this update is based on the unanimous opinion of the aviation security experts of the Member States, who met from 9 to 11 November 2021 by videoconference in the Aviation Safety Committee of the European Union. This committee is chaired by the European Commission and has the support of the Community Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), while the Transport Committee of the European Parliament, for its part, also supports the updating of the list. The assessment is carried out based on international safety standards and, in particular, the standards promulgated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Caribbean recibe 1er Boeing 737 MAX

AW | 2021 11 25 11:46 | AIRLINES

Caribbean Airlines toma entrega primer Boeing 737 MAX

Caribbean Airlines_Isologotype

Caribbean receives 1st Boeing 737 MAX

Caribbean Airlines takes delivery of first Boeing 737 MAX

AW-Caribbean Airlines_Boeing 737-8 MAX-0006

Trinidad & Tobago carrier Caribbean Airlines (CAL) has received its first Boeing 737-8 MAX as part of an upgrade to the company’s fleet. The airline has updated the contract established in November 2018, after the stoppage caused by the design problems of the line of fourth generation 737 aircraft.

The airline has taken delivery of the first aircraft of twelve units to be incorporated, but the order has been reorganized to nine current units. «As part of our strategic plan and cost reduction initiatives, Caribbean Airlines had long made the decision to renew our fleet and upgrade our brand. The specific number of aircraft is being refined and more will be said in the coming months», said Dionne Ligoure, the airline’s Chief of Corporate Communications.

In November 2018, CAL announced that it had placed a lease order for twelve units of the Boeing 737-8 MAX line to replace its fleet of 737-800 Next Generation that is more than a decade old. The airline said it had made an initial payment of US$ 7 million for the new aircraft, while it was expected that the company would receive the first MAX 8 aircraft in December 2019.

In a press release last week, Caribbean Airlines said it received its first Boeing 737-8 MAX at 11.18 p.m. on November 17, 2021 and will be prepared for the induction of the flight scheduling in the coming weeks. The airline has communicated that the first flights would be expected to be scheduled for January 2022. Dionne Ligoure said CAL has worked with aviation regulators and The Boeing Company, as well as with its pilots, safety and maintenance teams to ensure induction. safe of the aircraft.

In June, Caribbean Airlines announced that it had cut 79 pilots as part of a 280 job cut, with another 99 on temporary layoffs, as the company embarked on streamlining its operations. Subsequently, the company issued a statement explaining that it was fewer than the 450 projected jobs that it intended to cut when the restructuring exercise began. On the issue of experienced pilots leaving the company when a new aircraft enters service, Dionne Ligoure explained that contracted pilots who were over 60 years old were separated, followed by pilots based on their experience with the CAL fleet, while they used the last-in, first-out system. «Safety is Caribbean Airlines’ number one priority and our pilots are trained to the highest international standards. There are multiple steps and controls that must be completed internally and by independent regulators before a pilot can be signed in to operate», he said. Dionne Ligoure.

Existing CAL pilots and support personnel will also be trained on the new aircraft. «All Boeing 737 pilots will complete approved training, including computer-based training, classroom briefings, and rigorous 737-8 simulator training before the aircraft is placed in service. Our maintenance engineers and technicians were trained by Boeing and certified by independent regulators approved to service the aircraft. Our cabin crew has also been fully trained on the aircraft type, to ensure that our customers continue to enjoy our authentic levels of service in the Caribbean», said the Head of Corporate Communications.

The company has observed that the new aircraft introduced will be less expensive to operate than the Boeing 737 NG model that it currently has in its fleet, allowing it to transport more passengers, a greater range of autonomy, which together with the savings in fuel and maintenance will provide the opportunity to improve earnings. Caribbean Airlines will continue to pursue the estimated annual operating cost reduction driven by fuel and maintenance savings, with a 16% reduction in carbon emissions and fuel consumption and a 40% lower noise level compared to the 737NG.

Safety 737 MAX

The Boeing 737-8 MAX has been the most analyzed airplane of its time due to the two accidents suffered, while aviation regulators around the world focused on finding solutions for the design error of the most up-to-date aircraft of the line 737. In December 2020, the Boeinbg 737 MAX was cleared to fly after twenty months of being immoderate by the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA). Dionne Ligoure observed: «Around the world, this aircraft went through rigorous processes by international regulators before returning to service. Other airlines have been operating the aircraft in Trinidad and Tobago and people traveled with confidence and safety. No it’s different with Caribbean Airlines», she noted that as of November 16, 2021, statistics on the MAX 8 stand at 235,821 plus revenue flights, 576,105 plus total flight hours with a 99.35 percent schedule reliability rate.

After fifteen months of border closures, Caribbean Airlines resumed full commercial operations in June 2021 with a revised business plan for its operations. «The airline has adjusted its planned strategy, fleet size and route network to reflect the decline in the size of its future market, specifically, the reduced number of passengers, which is estimated to remain below the levels of 2019 for the next two to three years», the company said in a statement at the time. Caribbean Airlines posted a loss of TT$ 172.7 million/US$ 25.7 million for the first quarter of 2021. For the airline, the loss represents a 75 percent decrease in revenue, compared to the same period in 2020. In 2020, the airline posted an operating loss of TT$ 738 million/ US$ 109.2 million compared to 2018 and 2019 operating profit. «Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and the suspension of operations at its base in Trinidad and Tobago , the airline has seen passenger numbers plummet and the number of flights reduced to less than 10 percent of normal operations. Despite this, the airline continued to offer services on many of its routes and provided invaluable repatriation flights. for the citizens of the Caribbean. Given the financial impact of the pandemic, Caribbean Airlines proactively reduced costs, and expenses for the first quarter of 2021 have decreased by 52 percent in co Compared to the same period in 2020. In addition, the airline remained afloat through a loan guaranteed by the Government and a cash injection from the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for a total of US $ 100 million. As a consequence, Caribbean Airlines must take additional steps to ensure it has a sustainable business model for 2021 and beyond. These steps include significant cost reductions in all areas of the airline’s operations, specifically its complement of human resources, its fleet and other assets, and its route network», the airline said in a statement.

Caribbean Airlines outlook

The airline said that as part of its streamlining strategy, it would reduce its fleet of aircraft over the course of 2021, as well as its route network to reflect the changing market. To survive in the short and medium term, the company has to reduce the aircraft fleet to meet the reduction in passenger demand, among other initiatives. The decline in the aircraft fleet will lead to a labor surplus. The labor surplus is the reason for the proposed reduction exercise, while the incorporation of the Boeing 737 MAX line will allow it to be more profitable and competitive in the post-pandemic market.

Before its return to service, the aircraft had completed 1,414 flight cycles, which equates to 5,067 flight hours (6.94 months).

The Singapore Airlines group had been operating the 737 MAX line under the Silk Air subsidiary. However, all the aircraft were placed in March 2019 along with the rest of the world fleet. Rather than return to the skies for Silk Air, Singapore Airlines has now brought the aircraft in-house under its flagship brand.

AW-Croatia Airlines _Airbus A220

Currently, Aerolíneas Argentinas has seventy-seven (77) aircraft in the fleet

The pandemic has decimated airlines around the world, so they have had to restructure or die trying. Aerolíneas, currently owns fifty (50) active/operational 50 aircraft, while twenty-seven (27) are currently out of service. Although Aerolíneas Argentinas is slowly recovering its connectivity prior to the pandemic, currently offering 5,490 flights, it has represented a decrease of 43.4% compared to November 2019. 42% inactive fleet

Currently, Aerolíneas Argentinas’ fleet of inactive aircraft reaches 42% due to lack of maintenance and demand in air transport, which may cause a reduction in domestic flights in the near future. Some 33 aircraft, out of 79 units, are out of service. There are fifteen Boeing 737 Next Generation (15) in preserved condition. Half of the Airbus A330-200s are currently idle, as well as half of the Embraer E190 units.

Aerolíneas Argentinas has a pending delivery order with The Boeing Company for more 737-8 MAX units (9), as well as continuing to renew its long-term fleet by renewing its fleet of A330-200s.

Israel nuevo rescate financiero

AW | 2021 11 22 05:20 | AIRLINES / GOVERNMENT

Israel ofrece US$ 44 millones a aerolíneas en nuevo rescate

Israel will provide new financial rescue

Israel offers US$ 44 million to airlines in new rescue

Israel’s strict border restrictions continue to weigh on the country’s airlines. The government understands this, and is offering another helping hand as the Delta strain takes another toll. Members of the Israeli cabinet approved an additional bailout plan for airlines further harmed by the spread of the Delta strain of Coronavirus, the finance and transport ministries said in a joint statement on Sunday 11/21. Total state aid would not exceed the US$ 44 million for all carriers in Israel and would come in the form of three-year bonds that accrue no interest. Transport Minister Merav Michaeli said that «the plan balances the responsibilities of the government with those of the controlling shareholders of the airlines. It benefits the Israeli public first and ensures the stability of the companies and their employees».

El Al Israel Airlines, Arkia and Israir, have been hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic with the country’s borders largely closed to foreign tourists since March 2020. Since early November, tourists who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 can enter the country within six months after their last dose. El Al, who is in talks to buy Israir, requested US$ 100 million from the Government in September 2021 as compensation for its strict travel policies. The airline has reported losses for three years and accumulated debt to renew its fleet. It laid off 1,900 employees, nearly a third of its staff, as part of a government-ordered recovery plan to receive a US$ 210 million aid package in early 2021, and reduced its fleet to 29 from 45. Another Publicly traded airline will have the option to convert a bond into state-assigned shares upon maturity. In that case, the State would not have more than 24% of the capital of an airline and would not have voting rights.

British Airways llama a pilotos y tripulantes para low cost

British_Airways_Isologotype Newell & Sorell, 1997

British Airways calls pilots and crew members for low cost

British Airways (BA), the IAG group member airline, announced this weekend the start of the recruitment process for its new low-cost company BA Euroflyer, which will operate a fleet of seventeen Airbus A320 aircraft for operations from the Airport from Gatwick/LGW. Announcements were inserted in the usual means for the selection of aviation personnel, offering up to £ 105,000 per year for pilots and between £ 24,000 and £ 27,800 per year for cabin personnel. The new budget company is looking for people with leadership, communication and decision-making skills. The announcement states that «this is an unusual opportunity to join an airline from its inception, but with the benefits of belonging to a solid group such as British Airways».

The company’s selection of routes, based in Gatwick/LGW, will substantially coincide with the most common low-cost tourist destinations, such as the Balearic Islands, Alicante, Malaga, Canary Islands, Cyprus, Malta, South of France in summer and in winter some ski destinations.

The new airline BA Euroflyer will have a separate economic and accounting structure but will operate under the British Airways brand and quality standards. Euroflyer will be only for documents, because everything will be done under the main banner of the company.

Luis Gallego, the current President of the IAG group, has stated that the operations of the new airline could begin in 1Q2022. Specialists venture that the first flights will take place in the last week of March 2021, coinciding with the start of the boreal summer season.
