Chinese airlines to adopt IATA Travel Pass

China Airlines/EVA Air to adopt Travel Pass in trial mode

The two main international airlines of Taiwan, China Airlines (CAL) and EVA Air have expressed this Tuesday 17/08 that they will soon begin to use the international application of verification of digital health as a test, known as the Travel Pass of the International Association of the Air Transport (IATA) on selected routes, as part of its COVID-19 prevention measures.

The IATA Travel Pass, which was developed by the International Air Transport Association, is a mobile app that helps travelers store and manage their verified certifications for COVID-19 tests and vaccines, the airlines said. The app also provides passengers with information on what tests, vaccinations and other measures they will require before traveling, the airlines said. Stored digital information about COVID-19 vaccines and tests can easily be presented at airports, at a time when border controls have tightened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to airlines.

China Airlines said it will start using the IATA Travel Pass on a trial basis from August 30, for passengers on flights returning to Taiwan from Singapore; Vancouver, Canada; Frankfurt, Germany; London, United Kingdom; and the US cities of Los Angeles, Ontario, San Francisco and New York. «This service will speed up the check-in process, reduce unnecessary human contact and provide passengers with greater peace of mind during their flight», CAL said in a statement.

EVA Air, for its part, said it will test the use of the app on its flights between Paris and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, starting in September. «As we learn to live with COVID, tools like the IATA Travel Pass will become critical», the airline said in a statement. EVA Air said that digital health check apps are convenient tools that give border control officials direct access to COVID-19 test results of passengers and help reduce human error and unnecessary interaction between passengers. people, at a time when COVID-19 vaccination test and negative test results are becoming required travel documents.

More than 70 airlines around the world are currently using the app on a trial basis. To participate in the test, passengers will need to download the application from the App Store or Google Play, and when they go to a participating hospital for a COVID-19 PCR test, an electronic copy of the results can be stored on the IATA Travel Pass, which can then be presented at the airport, the airlines said. In Taiwan and the United States, however, passengers should also be prepared to present hard copy of their PCR test results at the airport, upon request, the airlines said.

Spirit Airlines recorta vuelos hacia Septiembre 2021

AW-Spirit Airlines_A32020001

AW-Spirit Airlines_Isologotype_001

Spirit Airlines cuts flights by September 2021

Spirit Airlines_Banner-001

Spirit Airlines has announced an upcoming cutbacks to its flight schedule for the month of September 2021 after the cancellations cost the airline US$ 50 million. The budget airline based in Miramar, Florida reported this Monday, 08/16 that the cancellations of more than 2,800 flights during an eleven-day stretch has cost the low-cost airline lost revenue and caused spending to skyrocket.

The airline said the service collapse that began in late July 2021 and an increase in COVID-19 cases are causing more last-minute cancellations and smoother bookings. Due to the economic impacts that Spirit continues to suffer, it said that it will reduce the scheduling of flights calling them tactical schedule reduction movements, which will take place during the rest of the quarter, which ends on September 30, 2021.

The established cancellations, plus reductions in flight frequencies over the next six weeks, will reduce Spirit Airlines’ estimated revenues for the third quarter, which will range between US$ 885 million and US$ 955 million, which represents a 4% to 11% below the same quarter in the pre-pandemic of 2019.

Spirit’s cancellation numbers have returned to more normal levels. However, the airline said that recovering from the crisis caused expenses to rise. The low cost said that it has been worth the effort to put some passengers stranded on flights operated by other airlines and covered their stays in hotels. It also incurred higher labor costs, such as overtime.

Spirit Airlines forecast its third-quarter operating expenses to be slightly above US$ 1 billion, an increase of up to 20% from the third quarter of 2019. The Miramar, Florida-based carrier made the disclosures. in a regulatory filing after the stock market closed on Monday 08/16.

Spirit Airlines has reported that it has had 2,826 flights canceled from July 30 to August 9, 2021, as it grappled with overlapping challenges, including adverse weather conditions, airport staff shortages and crews stranded far from their homes. assigned flights. On some days during that stretch, cancellations amounted to more than 60% of the airline’s schedule. Spirit Airlines CEO Ted Christie has apologized for the disruptions, which affected tens of thousands of customers across the country, while users were reassigned on other multi-carrier flights. «We believe the outage was a unique event driven by an unprecedented confluence of factors and does not reflect systemic issues», said Ted Christie.

Perspectives Spirit

«Spirit Airlines has invested to be one of the most efficient and reliable airlines in the United States industry and is taking steps to ensure that we maintain that standard», said the CEO of Spirit Airlines.

In recent years, Spirit has scored in the middle of the group or better for on-time arrivals, as monitored by the Federal Government. It was third best last year, behind only Hawaiian Airlines and Delta Air Lines. However, Spirit has struggled with a high rate of consumer complaints for many years. In 2019, it had the highest complaint rate among 16 airlines in rankings compiled by the Department of Transportation (DOT), while it has seen an improvement in rankings from 12th out of 16 in 2020.

Argentina bonificarían pasajes aéreos

AW | 2021 08 16 19:06 | GOVERNMENT / AIRLINES

Gobierno planea bonificaciones pasajes aéreos a turistas extranjeros

Argentine government plans discounts on airfare to foreign tourists

The Government of the Argentine Republic plans to open the borders in October 2021 and authorize the entry of foreign tourists. To reactivate the arrival of visitors from abroad, while they seek to implement granting discounts on the cost of air tickets through the company Aerolíneas Argentinas, according to the official statement on Monday 08/16. This bonus can reach 100% if visitors have a stay of a certain number of days. «There must be material incentives for tourists to choose a destination», said the Minister of Tourism, Matías Lammens.

In principle, they analyze opening the borders with countries that have a good health situation, with a significant percentage of their population vaccinated and probably require tourists to be immunized to enter Argentina. The Minister of Tourism reported that when the entry of foreign visitors is enabled, they will not quarantine after entering the country 65% of foreign tourists visiting Argentina are from neighboring countries, including Uruguay.

From the Tourism portfolio they indicated that several details of the project need to be coordinated, in which they work with Aerolíneas Argentinas to reduce the costs of tickets. They added that one of the reasons for this initiative is that flights to Argentina tend to be more expensive than flights to other countries in the region. They also consider that the favorable exchange rate for visitors and the elimination of restrictions for tourists are not sufficient incentives to reactivate the sector.

Pobeda cancela Boeing 737 MAX

AW | 2021 08 16 18:45 | AIRLINES / INDUSTRY

Aerolínea rusa Pobeda renuncia contrato del Boeing 737 MAX

AW-Pobeda Airlines_Isologotype

Pobeda cancels Boeing 737 MAX

Russian airline Pobeda resigns Boeing 737 MAX contract

Russian airline Pobeda Airlines, part of the Aeroflot Group, has resigned its contract to buy Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, but will not incur any penalties, because the aircraft is not yet authorized for use in Russia, the company’s CEO told reporters, Andrei Kalmykov: «Yes, we have renounced solid contracts for Boeing 737 MAX without any penalty», he said in an official statement from the airline.

The Boeing Company had stopped deliveries of 737 MAXs to customers due to temporary grounding, caused by industrial design errors that led to two plane crashes, putting the company in the eye of the storm for audits in safety. The recertification involved the critical Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS), which was activated in response to misinformation from the Angle of Attack (AOA). After that, the flights of the Boeing 737 MAX line were suspended until after reaching after twenty months of meticulous work, the new recertification in November 2020.

Currently, many countries have reinstated product certification licenses, including the United States, while the Russian Federation, India and China continue to work to revalidate the line of fourth generation aircraft. The Head of Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko told reporters that the issue of Boeing 737 MAX certification in Russia will be raised again when the global epidemiological situation improves.

Boeing 737 MAX

Boeing 737 MAX

Boeing 787 for Norse Atlantic

Boeing 787 emerges for Norse Atlantic Airways

Norse Atlantic Airways‘ first Boeing 787-9 has been revealed after completing the painting process on its first commercial aircraft. On Sunday night 08/15, the airline published images of its first Dreamliner aircraft. The Boeing 787-9 aircraft registration LN-LNO is named after the Raet National Park in Arendal, Norway.

The reveal comes less than a week after Norse Atlantic released renderings of its visual identity. Norse Atlantic CEO Bjorn Tore Larsen said: «We were inspired by the ships the Vikings used when they sailed the seas 1,000 years ago. We identify a bit with the voyage that our predecessors made across the Atlantic, and by therefore our Dreamliners will be our long boats».

Norse Atlantic perspectives

The airline expects to have fifteen Dreamliners in its fleet by the summer of 2022. Norse Atlantic’s advertising to date suggests that the European springboard airports will be Oslo, London and Paris. Across the Atlantic, New York, Los Angeles, and an unspecified city in Florida are marked as likely destinations. «Our plans are underway and operations will begin when travel restrictions are lifted and the demand for transatlantic travel is back», CEO Bjørn Tore Larsen said last week.

Norse Atlantic plans to employ 1,600 people by next summer. For their sake, most people would hope that the Norse would be successful. But clearly there is some ill will on the part of the Norwegian failure and the smooth transition that top Norwegian executives have made to Norse Atlantic. It is an obstacle that the Nordics will have to overcome.

Boeing 787 for Norse Atlantic

Boeing 787 dukker opp for Norse Atlantic Airways

Norse Atlantic planlegger å sysselsette 1600 mennesker innen neste sommer.

Turkish vuelo alto riesgo a Kabul

AW | 2021 08 16 17:18 | AIRLINES / AVIATION SAFETY

Turkish high risk flight to Kabul

Turkish Airlines makes last repatriation flight

A Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300 was able to land and take off from Kabul International Airport on Monday 16/08 despite the prevailing chaos in the capital of Afghanistan and at the airport controlled by the United States Army, carrying out a very high risk operation to commercial air navigation.

As military and civilian planes struggled to get out of Kabul, Afghanistan, a Turkish Airlines plane tried to get in. Turkish Airlines flew what is likely its last flight to Kabul on Monday 08/16 amid an exodus of civilians following the rapid advance of the Taliban through the capital. Despite mounting tensions in Afghanistan, flight TK706 departed from Istanbul Airport in Turkey early on Monday 08/16 for Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport, according to Flightradar24.

The airline had been operating the flight consistently throughout the summer and over the weekend. Kabul is one of its more than 300 destinations, many of which are in the Middle East and South Asia. After entering Afghanistan’s airspace from neighboring Turkmenistan, the plane, a Boeing 777-300, was in a hold pattern for just under an hour before continuing to Kabul for a 07:44 a.m. landing. But instead of using the commercial terminal in Kabul, the plane parked in a section of the airport used primarily by the military, Flightradar24 said. The flight back to Istanbul, initially scheduled for 08:15 a.m., did not depart until after 01:00 p.m. Flightradar24 showed the plane taxiing, returning to its parking spot, and finally returning to the runway. He left for Istanbul with 324 passengers, according to Turkish media. The five-hour flight progressed smoothly as it crossed Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Georgia before entering Turkish airspace. He used the commercial terminal in Istanbul.

Photos and videos on Monday showed Afghans swarming the airport and boarding planes in a desperate attempt to flee the country. American military planes were evacuating Americans and Afghan special visa applicants trying to come to the United States.

Turkish Airlines’ other destination in Afghanistan is Mazar-i-Sharif, which fell to the Taliban on Saturday night 08/14. The last recorded Turkish Airlines flight between Istanbul and Mazar-i-Sharif took place on June 30, according to FlightAware. Flightradar24 showed that the airline’s scheduled flights to Kabul on Tuesday 08/17 and Wednesday 08/18 had been canceled.

Türk basınına göre 324 yolcuyla İstanbul’a gitti.
