AW-78800151Aerolíneas offer negotiation with guilds

Aerolíneas makes salary offer and demands anti-conflict clause

Skyteam-Aerolineas-Argentinas-Fly-to-BarcelonaAerolíneas Argentinas yesterday took the initiative to try to unlock the joint negotiation that was interrupted last week: sent a salary proposal to the six unions representing their 12,000 workers. Beyond the numbers, the offer also includes a clause by which trade unions must accept a mechanism of self-composition of conflicts to avoid measures of force during the negotiations.

The initial reaction of the unions was the refusal to consider any salary proposal if two of their most urgent claims were not addressed before: pay the 6.5% salary compensation for inflation in September 2018 and cancel the 376 suspensions that were applied the company to employees who participated in the protest on 8 November last. Last Friday the unions of the Air Front got up from the negotiating table in disagreement with the decision of the company to «study case by case» the suspensions. As they did not get to hear the salary offer, the company yesterday announced that it had been sent to each of the guilds.

New proposal

Aerolíneas launched a proposal to the unions to pay a fixed amount ranging between AR$ 5,000 and AR$ 30,000, according to the labor category and a wage increase of 10% in January 2019 and another 4% in March 2019, in exchange, demand that There are stoppages. The unions do not want to negotiate until suspensions are canceled and compensation is paid.

The company clarifies that it establishes as a condition for joint negotiation the establishment of a mechanism of self-composition of conflicts, which allows avoiding the impact of protest measures in the service. In addition, it reinforces the need to review the agreements to eliminate some labor practices that would be causing cost overruns that put the state company in unequal conditions to face the competition. Aerolíneas calls for the opening of a negotiating table on new forms of labor organization, and interpretation of labor standards, to improve competitiveness and human capital training.

Unions

The responses of the trade union groups wield: Before considering any proposal, they must comply with the minutes paying 6.5% and lift the suspensions. support from the Aeronautical Technical Staff (APTA). Pablo Biró, General Secretary of the Guild of Pilots (APLA), said: «I did not receive any salary proposal, they also owe us the salary and the suspensions that Malvido told us were going to be without effect. In these conditions, we can not sit down and negotiate anything».

Yesterday, a mobilization was made with a banner in the Aerolineas Argentinas hall in Ezeiza, starring workers of APTA (technical staff), APLA (pilots), UPSA (senior staff), UALA (aviators) and APA (aeronautics). They rejected the airline commercial policy of the Government embodied by the Minister of Transportation, Guillermo Dietrich, and denounced the situation of Aerolíneas Argentinas.

The official plan called «Revolution of the Aircraft» is questioned by the guilds that maintain that it consists of creating a scenario that will only benefit the low cost companies. «They started by promoting an increasingly deregulated market; This was followed by less intervention by the control agencies and a growing foreignization of flights. Now, under the excuse of reducing the labor cost, directly advance our sources and working conditions», warns a statement issued yesterday by the executive committee of the guild of pilots APLA.

AW | 2018 12 10 09:35 | AIRLINES / AVIATION SAFETY / GOVERNMENT

AW-Icon-TXT-01

New regulations for hand luggage in Australia

Australia will implement new regulations in the transport of hand luggage

Australian airports and airlines will begin to implement new rules on the weight of hand luggage. The new regulation will apply as of today Tuesday to all passengers on domestic flights in Australia who will have to weigh the carry-on luggage to establish changes in on-board safety. The new modality aims at heavy luggage traveling in the hold to avoid injuries to passengers.

The airline is following Qantas, who made a similar announcement last week. Virgin Australia customers should check the cabin luggage before boarding. In an attempt to repress passengers who bring overweight luggage on board aircraft, Virgin Australia says customers will weigh their luggage at the airport check-in counters to ensure that the 7 kg limit is not exceeded. Tigerair and Jetstar weigh their carry-on before they get on board.

«We are seeing many passengers trying to bring everything, but the kitchen sinks on domestic flights, which is causing flight delays, as well as security problems for the cabin crew, ground staff and passengers. seeing injuries to our cabin crew caused by closing overhead lockers filled with heavy luggage, changing bags in the overhead lockers to help guests find space and help passengers lift their bags in the overhead compartments», said Paul Woosnam, of Virgin Australia.

The changes will apply as of Tuesday Tuesday but the airlines will have more staff at the airports to enforce the new rules as of December 17, 2018. A \ W

Congo Airways sueña línea panafricana

AW | 2018 12 09 11:48 | AIRLINES

Congo Airways is trying to open up to the market as several airlines in the region

The national airline of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Congo Airways, this week opened its second international line connecting Kinshasa, Douala (Cameroon) and Cotonou (Benin), after the route Kinshasa-Johannesburg (South Africa) in May 2018.

Upcoming destinations

The projections of air routes for 2019 are: Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Bujumbura (Burundi), Nairobi (Kenya) and Dar Es-Salam (Tanzania) of the first quarter, according to Desire Balazire.

Congo Airways clearly shows the desire to become a pan-African airline. However, the national flag still has to deal with a fleet with insufficient funds of only four aircraft. The need is even more important, since not only Congo Airways already operates 14 national services within the DRC, but its international expansion requires a strong mobilization in terms of investment, human resources and logistics to be effective and regular.

Currently, the most prominent companies in the Continent are working with quite large fleets. Ethiopian Airlines owns 107 aircraft, Egyptair has 63, Royal Air Maroc has 57, including 1 cargo plane, while South African Airways operates with a fleet of 47 aircraft, to name just a few. These are companies that have existed for several decades, but that is the end of the road that the Congolese company must follow, founded in August 2014 with the effective launch of its activities in 2015. And unlike the large companies of In the sector of the region, Congo Airways still does not have access to European sky, due to non-compliance with European standards.

In the case of Congo Airways, as one phrase expresses «little by little, the bird makes its nest». In any case, today the Congo Airways mentality is focused on getting its prize. A \ W

AW-78888Flickr.jpgThe strategies of the Aerolíneas Group

The Aerolíneas Group will establish two different proprietary brands

The aforementioned merger between Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral Líneas Aéreas was politically not and is not currently viable due to different structures. Now, the current management has planned to benefit from this dichotomy, projecting two well differentiated brands to be able to compete better in the Argentine market.

Aerolíneas will be more focused on the service, while Austral will be at the most competitive prices. In the air market, the load factor in AR/AU represents 80%, while in the low cost airline Flybondi it is of the order of 60%, although the prices of this airline are lower, since Aerolíneas maintain that it is evident that the people distinguish that they do not buy the same product in one and another company.

The next strategy of the Aerolíneas Group will be for Aerolíneas Argentinas to focus on quality of service and punctuality, while its regional partner Austral Líneas Aéreas will focus on improvements in air ticket prices, seducing an audience that is being captivated by the low cost companies.

The prospects for the future of both companies will be planned towards a growing demand in the domestic market, while at the regional level the factor of occupation is on average and on international routes the index is lower, so they will establish a study of fleet projection to determine if they continue with some routes or aircrafts such as the Airbus A340-300 fleet that expires its leasing in 2020.
