AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

In March 2018, United Airlines began a comprehensive review of animal transportation, announcing in May that it will work with American Humane, the first national animal-welfare organization in the country, to improve the welfare of all pets traveling on United.

As of June 18, 2018, United will implement several new policies and customer requirements for pet air transportation to enhance the safety of the travel experience. During the rest of the year, United and American Humane will continue to make improvements as necessary to further improve the safety and care of animal transportation.

Among the changes, United Airlines will no longer allow pets in the cargo area of the plane where the luggage is stored. Other changes include: Cats and dogs are the only pets that will be allowed to travel. Certain cats and dogs with short noses and strong jaw dog breeds will not be able to travel on airplanes for health reasons. Certain airports in hot weather locations will not allow pets to travel during the summer months. The new PetSafe policy is an attempt to guarantee a better service. Changes will only affect unaccompanied animals; those who travel with people in the cabin of the airplane will remain authorized. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

More cancellations of PSA Airlines

Technical issue generates more flight cancellations for PSA Airlines

Three days after an initial technical problem with PSA Airlines resulted in the cancellation of more than 100 Charlotte flights, delays and cancellations continue to disrupt travel plans.

More than a dozen flights were hit this morning. The technical problems caused delays and cancellations of PSA Airlines flights today, affecting travelers in Charlotte and Dayton several days after hundreds of flights were affected.

The problems that occurred this morning led to the Federal Aviation Administration issuing a «ground stop» on all PSA Airlines flights to and from Charlotte, according to an American Airlines spokesperson. No other affiliate or AA partner was affected by the problem, according to the spokesperson.

Officials said at least 70 flights were canceled Sunday night and flights will resume around noon on Monday. Last week, a «technical problem» connected more than 120 flights. The problem is affecting the pilot and crew schedules and flight operations, so they are not receiving their assignments fast enough, officials said. The airline has tried to update the system but it is running slowly.

«Our customer relations team will communicate with those affected and we are doing everything possible to offer alternative travel options», the spokesperson said. PSA Airlines is a subsidiary of American Airlines and is headquartered at Dayton International Airport. On Friday, 675 PSA Airlines flights were affected by a technical problem, according to American Airlines. A \ W

Mejoras sustanciales en Aerolíneas

Clarin.com 07767677

AW | 2018 06 17 09:47 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Substantial improvements in Aerolíneas Argentinas

Aerolineas Argentinas is complying with the improvement processes

aerolineas-argentinas-logo

Aerolíneas Argentinas is showing positive signs in a constant decrease in the subsidies of the Argentine State. After many years of terrible administration and corruption, the airline of the Argentine Republic is leaving the risk of the economic infeasibility, of the negative effects of prestige that it knew to have.

The Aerolíneas Group is going through the last period of turbulence. For the first time since 1996 for Aerolíneas Argentinas and since 2004 for Austral Líneas Aéreas, the authorities of the air group presented in due time and form the financial statements for the year ending in 2017. From the presented balance, encouraging news is revealed. The first one is related to the subsidies it receives. From the peak in 2012 of US$ 899 million dollars, the figure was reduced to US$ 183 million in 2017, estimating for this year a need of US $ 82 million dollars, while for 2019, according to CEO Mario Dell ‘ Acqua, it will not be necessary to resort to any subsidy, thus returning self-management in the Aerolíneas Group.

The Aerolíneas Group reported that the company will divest itself of all assets that are not vital for the operation, among others, branches in several cities in the interior and abroad. Finally, regarding the results of the fiscal year 2017, the balance of the Aerolíneas Group shows revenues of AR$ 39,028 million pesos, which represents an increase of 97% with respect to 2015. Regarding the result, in 2017 the The company recorded a loss of AR$ 6,312 million pesos, 32% less than the AR$ 9,278 million in 2015.

Aerolíneas has also reduced the expenses that are issued for tourist operating agencies, in order to balance the accounts, bringing to zero the payment in commissions to travel agencies, as well as Internet operators. The first cut to the agencies was in 2016, during the management of Isela Costantini, who lowered the commission that was paid to all the tourist agencies, from 3% to 1%. The elimination of the payment of commissions will imply a saving that goes from US $ 10 to 15 million dollars.

Aerolíneas Argentinas reported a savings of US $ 29 million per year in contracts with its booking, check-in and airport management system. The reservation system services of the Saber company were improved. The new agreement brings improvements in the contractual obligations and functionalities of the reservation systems.

The group’s general manager, Abbott Reynal, mentioned: «We have 74% of the cabotage market and 25% of the international market, but of a market that has grown a lot». Since 2015, the seats per kilometer offered increased 10 percent, the load factor went from 77.6% to 80.3% and passengers increased by 20 percent, from 10.9 million in 2015 to 13.3 million in 2017

The Aerolíneas Group started with Costantini, and Mario Dell’Acqua continues, a professional management whose positive results are reflected in the balance sheets presented. Unlike what happened in previous administrations, in which even balance sheets were not presented, the current one has resumed the good practice of performing a detailed and detailed rendering of accounts, since the funds they administer are not their own, but come from the pocket of the taxpayers. Demoras en Aerolíneas en Aeroparque

AW-7008567

AW | 2018 06 15 15:06 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Delays Aerolíneas in Aeroparque

Aerolíneas Argentinas has delays in its flights due to a surprise assembly

This Friday morning, Aerolíneas Argentinas has suffered delays of fifteen flights in Aeroparque by a surprise assembly of the Association of Aeronautical Technical Personnel (APTA).

The state airline said that it is a group of 10 people who prevent the release of flights and described the measure as unjustified for not having communicated the claim. The assembly started at 7 in the morning. Before the claim of the company, the Ministry of Labor issued the mandatory conciliation from ten in the morning of this Friday for the period of 15 days.

The workers are from the Operating Dispatch area. By regulations, in Argentina the dispatch of the flights is done in the place of takeoff, when in other countries it can be done remotely. «The measure has not had any justification and until yesterday there was a permanent dialogue table with the union led by Ricardo Cirielli, which is why only a dozen people can put the work of 12,500 Aerolíneas employees to work delays to thousands of passengers», says Aerolíneas in a statement.

This Thursday, another aeronautical union, APA, had resorted to the same methodology of convening assemblies without prior notice to generate delays in flights. The situation could be resolved by Aerolíneas. Two weeks ago, the pilots unionized in APLA had done the same. A \ W

Etihad compromete compra del B777X

Resultado de imagen para Boeing 777X Etihad Airways

AW | 2018 06 14 16:21 | AIRLINES / INDUSTRY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Etihad commits purchase of the Boeing 777X

Etihad Airways discusses canceling the purchase order of 25 Boeing 777X aircraft to Boeing due to the serious financial problems the company is experiencing

In its last year the airline of the United Arab Emirates registered losses of 1,285 million euros, due to its high costs and the investments made in Air Berlin (which was declared insolvent) and Alitalia (in process of sale by the Italian government) .

Etihad Airways, the Gulf airline, is considering canceling the order to buy 25 units of the Boeing 777-8X/9X model in the manufacturing process in Boeing, in the face of the serious financial crisis it is going through. The executives of the airline consider that the purchase of 8 Boeing 777-8X and 17 Boeing 777-9X would not be as priority, and studies suspend the order even knowing that it can bring a millionaire cost in compensation.

Looking for new customers

Boeing was confident that Etihad Airways as a launch customer would be the perfect customer for the new line of the renowned widebody Boeing 777. The formal order included the new line of Boeing 777-8 aircraft, as well as the longer version of the Boeing 777-9 with a capacity of 406 seats, expects to be launched in 2020.

Boeing courted the main airlines remembering that this model despite its large size that forces it to fold its wings, is more profitable than the giant A380 and the classic B747. Boeing hopes to conquer the market with the B777X, which has a similar catalog price as the A380. The A380 has a list price of 358 million euros and the B777X has a similar value: 360 million.

Keeping in mind that if the Gulf airline, Etihad Airways, were to backtrack, Boeing will have to look for customers to make up for the economic impact of the loss of the contract. Other airlines such as Emirates Airlines, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific Airlines, Lufthansa, ANA, Singapore Airlines and Turkish Airlines are also potential customers of this model.

Wuthering Heights

Doubts about the B777 come shortly after Boeing was forced to give up a 17 billion euro contract with Iran Air and Aseman Airlines for the US government’s trade sanctions on Tehran. In addition, the aeronautical manufacturer looks closely at the commercial tensions that the Donald Trump administration maintains with China and Russia, which could complicate its steel, aluminum and titanium supplies.

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Canada Jetlines start ops 2019

Canada Jetlines will start-up low cost operations in 2019

Canada Jetlines prepares to take off with a definitive lease for two Airbus A320 aircraft. Canada Jetlines Ltd. has partnered with AerCap, a world leader in aircraft leasing and aviation finance, and has signed a Final Lease Agreement for two Airbus A320 aircraft, effective June 12, 2018. The delivery of the two aircraft is expected for the first half of 2019.

AerCap is the world’s largest independent aircraft leasing company with a well-diversified portfolio of high-quality aircraft. They provide aircraft to a global network of approximately 200 airline customers in approximately 80 countries and is recognized as the most active aircraft operator worldwide. AerCap chairman and commercial director, Philip Scruggs, commented: «We are very pleased to welcome our new customer airline, Jetlines, and we are especially pleased to play a role in the start-up of their new operations. management team and the administrative team very successful and we look forward to working with the Jetlines team when they start operating».

Managing Director Lukas Johnson said: «AerCap has a proven reputation for renting high quality aircraft and we look forward to building a positive relationship with them.» Through my experience with Airbus, I believe that these aircraft are the right aircraft to start operations. Most of the ultra-low cost operators around the world operate with the Airbus A320 fleet based on its narrow fuel-efficient body structure that supports a high-density seat configuration».

The two committed Airbus A320s are twin aircraft, which have almost identical compliance in design, features and equipment, allowing Jetlines to streamline the training and maintenance processes necessary to begin operations at an earlier date. The sister plane is 12 years old.

Executive President Mark Morabito said: «Our operations team has worked diligently to secure quality aircraft, conducting a thorough investigation process to ensure that the aircraft is suitable for Jetlines and our future passengers». Mr. Morabito continued, «I am pleased to report that we are now in a position to carry out the rest of the work to complete our licensing process and that we continue to make progress in our funding initiatives, recruitment of personnel and airport agreements».

The pre-existing purchase agreement with Boeing for the 737-MAX for delivery in 2023 remains in place. Jetlines plans to use Airbus aircraft to support its start-up operations and is not limited to securing a Boeing fleet in the future, should the company decide to do so. A \ W
