Air Nostrum wants to fly in Argentina

The Spanish company Air Nostrum, subsidiary of Iberia Líneas Aéreas wants to start operations in Argentina from 2017

Iberia’s feeder company and former shareholder of Sol Líneas Aéreas, is starting recruiting hostesses and mechanics to assist in future cabotage flights throughout the country.
The airline, Iberia franchise, made yesterday a series of group and individual interviews for the future hiring of hostesses. Of the group convened, 12 were pre-selected for a two-week initiation course starting on January 2. After approving it and after successfully passing an examination of the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC), the candidates would be incorporated into the company, although only 4 of them would start flying in a first plane. The rest would join the effective squad as the fleet grew.

Another source previously involved with Sol Líneas Aéreas confirmed the reactivation of the administrative processes necessary for Air Nostrum to fly over the routes of the former Rosarina airline, operations in which the Transatlantic Group, founder of Sol Líneas Aéreas, will have no relation whatsoever. The tentative name of the airline would be Flyest, and that it will begin to make charter flights of cabotage (to destinations like Mar del Plata or San Carlos de Bariloche) with the only airplane that counts for the moment from the second half of January Of 2017. He also said that Air Nostrum has pilots who have already taken the mandatory training to fly the plane of this new airline, and that the Iberia franchise wants to invest in the country and add aircraft.

The news of the first movements of Air Nostrum arrives at days of the public hearing of December 27, day in which the above mentioned airlines will fight for to obtain for themselves orders of authorization to cover new routes of international and coastal, something that was not realized Since 2005.

The background of the Spanish company in the country is scarce. As indicated on its website, Air Nostrum started its business with Sol Líneas Aéreas, the former airline of Rosario origin, in September 2015. At that time, the European company had entered Sol after an alliance between the latter and Aerolíneas Argentinas, as Minority partner with a technological character and with the aim of protecting the transformation of its fleet.

The agreement was signed by ILAI, a company formed by shareholders of Air Nostrum. They were also the ones who requested that this contract included a clause that would allow the Iberia franchise line to leave that agreement if the ties between Aerolineas Argentinas and Sol came to an end, which finally happened at the beginning of the year.

In view of this circumstance, those responsible for ILAI, the company of Air Nostrum, made effective the departure clause that they had incorporated in their agreement with Sol Líneas Aéreas.

Now, interviews to recruit air hostesses by Air Nostrum arouse rumors that the airline has certain intentions to be again involved with air passenger traffic on Argentine soil.

In 2015, Air Nostrum claimed to have made more than 75 thousand flights in which about 4 million passengers were transported. In turn, the airline is, according to an article of El País, the most internal flights made in Spain. For the Iberia Group it operates under the Iberia Regional Air Nostrum brand, and in the latest reports published on its website, it claims to invoice 400 million euros a year and employ about 1,400 employees. It is focused on the passenger flight for business and its aircraft fly short or medium distances and carry no more than 100 people.

Its president and majority shareholder is Carlos Bertomeu, founder of the company and who shares the ownership of the line with Antonio Pellicer and José Remohí, founders of the IVI (Valencian Institute of Infertility); The Serratosa family – founder of Air Nostrum in 1994 – through Nefinsa-Pool of Assets S.L .; The Zeiss Bank and a group of executives of the airline.

An airplane of Aerolíneas Argentinas could not land in Tucumán and was diverted to Córdoba

Flight AR1470 failed to descend because Benjamín Matienzo airport was closed due to the bomb threat

Aerolíneas Argentinas flight AR1470 was diverted to Cordoba tonight as Benjamín Matienzo airport was closed last night due to the confusing event that took place tonight with the 4156 Latam service. From the flagship airline confirmed that until the closing of this note, they did not know when passengers would arrive in Tucumán since, mainly, they had to wait what happened with the security operation.

The Boeing 737-7Q8, LV-CWL patent, was spinning for about an hour without being able to land because all airport security personnel were on alert for an alleged bomb threat. Apparently a man would have said that if the flight of Latam exploded was because his mother-in-law came on board. At that moment the security operation was untied and the suspect was delayed.

Aerolíneas Argentinas passengers until last night have no certainty as to when they would arrive in Tucumán. This was stated by Juan Jose Domínguez, a Tucuman journalist who was on board flight AR1470. «We just landed in Cordoba, not knowing when and how we go to Tucumán,» he explained at around 23.30.

It was also unclear whether Wednesday will be the first flight of the flag airline since the aircraft that was to spend the night at Benjamín Matienzo airport is in Cordoba. Passengers are advised to contact the company at 421-8885 or 426-3813. A\W

Acuerdo reanudar vuelos a Malvinas

Resultado de imagen para Stanley Airport Falklands Lan Airlines

AW | 2016 12 21 11:07 | AIRLINES ROUTES / GOVERNMENT

Detalles del acuerdo

Vuelos a Malvinas

Agreement to resume flights to the Malvinas

Argentina and Great Britain defined that in October 2017 the route will be restored to the islands; Advances process to identify soldiers buried in Darwin

In its strategy to redirect relations with Britain, Argentina agreed yesterday in London with British diplomacy to re-establish the mainland flights to the Falkland Islands (Malvinas Islands). Likewise, progress was made in the process of identifying Argentine soldiers buried in the Darwin cemetery and bilateral agreements were intensified in trade, investment, science and tourism.

After two days of intense negotiations, British Deputy Foreign Minister Alan Duncan and his Argentine counterpart, Pedro Villagra Delgado, resolved to move forward on a «positive agenda» that incorporated a topic as thorny as the Malvinas.

Resultado de imagen para Islas malvinas

A plan was agreed so that the flights from the islands to the mainland could be restored in October 2017. These would have as final destination Chile or Brazil, with a stopover in Buenos Aires. It is not yet known which company will be in charge of those flights, which would involve an increase in the weekly air frequency.

The frequency of weekly charter flights from the islands to Río Gallegos since the so-called Madrid agreement of 1999 was cut short with the arrival of the Kirchners to power in 2003. Today there is only the frequency of a weekly flight connecting Puerto Argentino With Punta Arenas, and only once a month that flight stops at Río Gallegos.

The reestablishment of flights to the continent with more frequent frequencies was a longstanding demand by the islanders, since it will allow them to have greater connectivity and will not depend only on the flight to Punta Arenas or the monthly airlift with London. This will also boost tourism and commerce in the islands.

Look after

In addition to the issue of flights, both foreign ministries, with the presence in London of island legislators Mike Summers and Phyl Rendell, established that in July and August next year the International Red Cross will process the identification of 123 NN soldiers. Next January there will be a team of experts on site to make a technical visit.

According to what was agreed between yesterday and the day before yesterday in London, the Red Cross will constitute a group of forensic experts that will have the participation of two Argentine experts to collect DNA samples from the unidentified soldiers, which will then be compared with the samples collected from the families that Have voluntarily given their consent for such identification. Yesterday, the Foreign Ministry issued a statement, in which he stressed that the process of identifying the 123 NN soldiers «is an Argentine initiative aimed at identifying these heroes who fought for the motherland and bring peace to their families.» Also, Palacio San Martín remarked that the object of this project is «purely humanitarian and seeks to pay a historical debt to the relatives of fallen combatants in the conflict of the South Atlantic that lie in the Cemetery of Darwin under the legend» Argentine soldier alone Known by God. «

British message

«Delighted to sign a mandate with Vice Foreign Minister Villagra to identify the soldiers buried in Darwin’s cemetery,» Duncan tweeted yesterday, just after the meeting in London. The British vice chancellor then confirmed that there is «agreement» to move forward with new flights between the Falkland Islands (Malvinas Islands) and Latin America.

What will be the benefits that Argentina will have in this agreement, which provides for wide concessions to the Malvinas Islanders?

In the Chancellery said that the strategy of Mauricio Macri aims to redirect relations with Britain to achieve economic benefits, bearing in mind that London was isolated from Europe after the Brexit and needs active trading partners.

In addition to the agreements related to the Malvinas chapter, yesterday, joint cooperation agreements were made, which were contemplated in the joint communiqué that the two countries sealed on November 29, to redirect the bilateral relations damaged during the 12 years of Kirchnerism.

That September statement and the agreements signed yesterday in London left under an umbrella the debate over the sovereignty of the islands that Argentina claims. In fact, Chancellor Susana Malcorra expressed yesterday that «the discussion for sovereignty is for a long time, because there are still open wounds that make an objective conversation difficult.»

In this way, the Foreign Ministry stressed in the communiqué that both parties «undertook to emphasize the positive agenda of relations with the aim of further strengthening bilateral ties, developing closer ties and creating a solid cooperation for the benefit of Peoples of both countries.» These agreements include cooperation on human rights, international security, non-proliferation, environment and climate change, clean energy, trade and investment, science, technology and innovation, tourism and sport.

In the Argentine delegation led by Villagra Delgado were also the undersecretary of Malvinas, Teresa Kralikas; The director of the area, Osvaldo Mársico, and the ambassador in Geneva for international organizations, Marcelo Cima. A\W

Agreement Details

AW | 2016 12 21 10:33 | AIR INVESTIGATION

 Accident B727-200C from Aerosucre

A Boeing 727-200C cargo plane, operated by Aerosucre Colombia, was destroyed when it crashed shortly after takeoff from Puerto Carreño Airport in Colombia. One of the six crew members survived the accident. The aircraft took off from runway 24, a 1780 m long runway about 17:20.

Videos are circulating online, supposedly showing the accident aircraft on takeoff. The airplane fails to lift off the runway and crosses the airport perimeter fence and road in a nose up attitude. Distance from the end of the runway to the perimeter road is 95 meters. Aerocivil reports the aircraft crashed 10 miles from the airport.

A video posted on Youtube in October 2016 shows a takeoff of an Aerosucre Boeing 727 at Puerto Carreño Airport barely clearing the perimeter fence.

Five people were killed and another in critical condition after the cargo plane in which they were transported crashed yesterday in eastern Colombia, the Civil Aeronautics reported.

«At the site of the accident five crew members are killed and one of them is currently in the hospital attended … and will be transferred to Bogota on an ambulance plane from the Colombian Air Force,» said Colonel Freddy Bonilla, Secretary of Security of the Civil Aeronautics.

The five dead are the pilot Jaime Cantillo, the co-pilot Mauricio Guzmán, the flight engineer Pedro Duarte, the dispatcher Felipe Vargas and the operative Nelson David Rojas.

The only survivor is flight technician Diego Armando Vargas, who is in San Juan de Dios Hospital in the municipality of Puerto Carreño – in the department of Vichada, bordering Venezuela – where the incident occurred.

The crashed aircraft is a Boeing 727 registration number HK4544 of the Colombian airline Aerosucre, which was bound for Bogota from Puerto Carreño, added the Aerocivil.

The cargo vehicle collapsed at 5:23 pm local time (23H23 GMT) 10 miles from Germán Olano Airport, which serves Puerto Carreño, from where it had taken off three minutes earlier, the authority said in a statement.

There were six crew members on the plane, the civil aviation spokesman told AFP, who explained that the causes of the incident are unknown, but that a team of investigators has already moved to the area. A\W

AW | 2016 12 20 12:15 | AIRLINES

Faroe Islands’ Atlantic Airways adds maiden A320

Atlantic Airways has taken delivery of its first A320-200 following the arrival of OY-RCJ (msn 7465) in Vágar on Monday, December 19. The aircraft is Atlantic Airways’ only one of the type on order from Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) and joins its existing fleet of two A319-100s.

As such, OY-RCJ will be deployed primarily on the Vagar-Copenhagen Kastrup route where Atlantic Airways says it has seen a strong surge in demand. It will also allow the Faroese operator to compete more effectively with SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) once it enters the market in March next year, also using a combination of A319 and A320 machinery.

Given the difficult weather conditions it will encounter in the North Atlantic, the A320 features Required Navigation Performance (RNP 0.1) capability. This will enable it to precisely fly predefined routes using its sophisticated on-board navigation systems. A\W

Aerolíneas Argentinas signs agreement with Boeing

Aerolíneas to be the first Latin American operator of the Boeing 737-8 MAX

Aerolíneas Argentinas announced yesterday, December 19, signing an agreement with The Boeing Company to incorporate the new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft into its fleet.

As part of this agreement, Aerolíneas Argentinas renegotiated a technical contract debt, inherited from the previous management, and will incorporate the first Boeing 737 MAX for Latin America in November and December 2017.

«Thanks to this agreement, Aerolíneas Argentinas will be the first operator in Latin America of the new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. This aircraft still does not fly and will make the first flights worldwide in May 2017,» Pablo Miedziak, director of the financial area of Aerolíneas.

The 737-8 MAX is a «modern, efficient and sustainable aircraft, able to travel greater distances reducing a 40% noise footprint compared to other Boeing aircraft.» On the other hand, some innovations already present in the NG models like the Boeing Sky Interior lighting system are maintained for greater comfort in the different stages of the flight. The Boeing 737-8 MAX will enter operational service in 2017, and will be available to airlines in the middle of that year. The new 737-8 MAX will allow Aerolíneas to achieve a 14% fuel economy compared to previous models with a new engine technology. The new Boeing 737-8 MAX has a capacity to carry 178 passengers, 32% more than the seats of the model 737-700 that will be replaced with the MAX.

The Boeing Star Model: The B737 MAX
The 737 MAX has firm orders for a total net (gross orders minus early cancellations) of 3331 aircraft as of September 30, 2016.

Resultado de imagen para aerolineas Boeing 737 maxThe customers who requested the 737 MAX with the exception of American Airlines were not known. On November 17, 2011, Boeing released the names of two other customers: the airline Lion Air and the financial company Aviation Capital Group. At the same time, the US manufacturer announced that it had signed purchase commitments for a total of 700 aircraft by 9 customers. On December 13, 2011, Southwest Airlines announced that it would become the 737 MAX launch customer, with a firm order for a total of 150 aircraft and 150 purchase options.15 On September 8, 2014, it was announced that The Irish company Ryanair had firmly bought 100 units of the 737 MAx 200 and had the option of buying for another 100 units, all for a sum of 22 billion dollars. At the beginning of October 2016, the company Aerolíneas Argentinas would have transferred 11 of its 20 previous orders of the 737-800 model, by 737 MAX-8; This change was confirmed by Aerolineas Argentina and Boeing on December 19, 2016. It would be the fourth Latin American airline to order the model after the Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas, which requested 60 units and Aeromexico, also with 60 units and the Panamanian Copa Airlines Which ordered 61 aircraft in the MAX 8 and MAX 9 variants.

The new agreement, meanwhile, will add nine Boeing 737-800 NG and eleven Boeing 737-8 MAX, with option to change three of the Boeing 737-800 NG of the contract for three of the «MAX» model. The Boeing 737-800 NG will be incorporated until October 2017, one of which was already added two months ago to the fleet.

As part of this agreement, Aerolíneas Argentinas renegotiated a technical debt of the previous management contract. According to Miedziak, the renegotiation involves new debt cancellation terms and funding for the incorporation of the first two MAX aircraft, with a very beneficial rate for airlines.

Boeing Vice President of Sales for Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa, Van Rex Gallard, said in a statement that the new agreement allows the company to consolidate its relationship with Aerolíneas, which it defined as one of its «most strategic clients in the region» .

CFM International, owned by US-based GE and France’s Safran Aircraft Engines, is participating in the deal as a developer of the LEAP engine that Aerolíneas incorporates into its fleet. «CFM is pleased to have been able to work with Aerolíneas Argentinas and develop a state-of-the-art technology solution that allows the airline to continue providing exceptional service to its passengers,» said Douglas Izarra, CFM Sales Vice President Americas.

Miedziak stressed that this agreement is part of the policies of the new airline administration, which seeks to make the company more efficient. «In early 2016, we saw that if the company wanted to continue operating and honoring all the contracts, it would have needed $ 1 billion,» he said.

Miedziak explained that «as part of the agreement Aerolíneas renegotiated a technical debt from the contract inherited from the previous management, which will now allow us to incorporate new aircraft, the 737-800 Max, which will be the first to fly in a Latin American company and the first two will arrive To the company between November and December of 2017 «.

He said that «there was a pre-existing agreement for 20 737-800NG aircraft and what we saw when we took over the company just a year ago was that the contract was signed, but there was no financing and neither was paid to Boeing What should have been paid, so I was in default.»

«What we did,» he said, «was to renegotiate that contract in the best conditions for all parties and we realized that it did not make sense to go look for the planes that were agreed, because we were going to bring a product that was not the best at the time We split the contract in two, leaving 9 737-800 NG and 11 737 Max, with the option that 3 of the 737-800 also become 737 Max, leaving only 737-800NG and 14 737 Max, so that we will have an ultramodern and much more efficient fleet «.

«Last October 15, the first aircraft of this contract was received, in November the second and today is being signed at the offices of Boeing in Seattle (the contract for) the third aircraft that will be arriving tomorrow in the country.»

«After having renegotiated this contract during the last 6 months, this agreement allows us to continue with the incorporation of aircraft to comply with the Strategic Plan to make the Aerolíneas Group a sustainable company, without deficit, while giving us a more realistic framework Of payments at times when we must be extremely responsible in the use of money,» said Miedziak. airbus-logo1El A321neo propulsado por PW1100G ha sido certificado por las autoridades de aeronavegabilidad europeas y estadounidenses, con Boeing todavía para revelar un producto competidor

A321NEO receives certification with P&W

The PW1100G-powered A321neo has now been certified by European and US airworthiness authorities, with Boeing still to reveal a competing product

The A321neo has now racked up 1,376 orders, about five times as many as its nearest rival, the 737 MAX 9, and certification for the CFM LEAP-powered variant of Airbus’ largest narrowbody is expected in the coming months.

Resultado de imagen para A321NEO certification P&W

“This aircraft contributes already some 40 per cent to our single aisle deliveries, and further growing,” said Fabrice Brégier, Airbus president and CEO.

With the MAX 9 conceding about 400nm of range and five seats to the A321neo, Boeing is widely expected to launch an upgraded or replacement version of the 757 to claw back some market share.

Resultado de imagen para A321NEO P&W png

Despite acknowledging airline demand for a “middle-of-the-market” aircraft, it now seems probable that Boeing will wait until next year to detail its plans, so service-entry of a new aircraft could drift into the mid-2020s, especially if Boeing chooses a clean sheet design.

Meanwhile, the A321neo backlog will grow. The aircraft has accumulated 350 flight hours across 130 flights during its certification programme for EASA and the FAA, and Airbus says it is meeting its targets for fuel burn and range.

First delivery of the MAX, to an unnamed customer, has been put forward from 3Q 2017 to the first half of next year. By 2018 Boeing plans to roll off 52 737NGs and 737 MAXs per month from its Renton, Washington plants, though the exact mix hasn’t been specified.

As several other products move from development to production, Boeing will free up resources to pump into a potential stretch of the 737 MAX, the MAX 10, which could serve as a stopgap until a new middle-of-the-market aircraft appears.

In the meantime, the venerable 757 will retain an important role in the global fleet, which should be good news for some maintenance providers. A\W

Investigation finds FAA failed to ensure Safety of Allegiant Air

Allegiant Air’s string of mechanical breakdowns triggered little response from regulators

On Friday, the Tampa Bay Times published the results of an in-depth investigation of the FAA’s oversight of Allegiant Air, a budget airline with operations in Florida and California. The Tampa Bay Times found that despite dozens of in-flight breakdowns and safety failures, the FAA took no enforcement action against the airline.

https://i0.wp.com/www.tampabay.com/resources/images/dti/rendered/2009/10/A4S_plane102109_90340a_8col.jpg

More broadly, the Tampa Bay Times argues that the FAA’s oversight of airlines has itself experienced multiple “breakdowns,” and that the agency is failing in its duty to protect the safety of air passengers. In part, that’s due to the failure of a 15-year push to develop a system for monitoring airline safety data. Former officials told the Tampa Bay Times that U.S. airlines’ strong safety record was under threat by what has, under a passive FAA, essentially become a system of self-regulation.

The Tampa Bay Tampa Bay Times investigation centers on a string of mechanical incidents at Allegiant. Following two serious near-accidents involving faulty maintenance, one in 2013 and one in 2015, Allegiant simply told the FAA it would change its maintenance procedures. It faced no fines or substantive investigation by the FAA.

The same went for a 2015 string of mechanical failures that caused unplanned landings. In one four-day period, 10 Allegiant flights were ended by mechanical failure. Allegiant acknowledged its poor track record in response to earlier Times reporting, vowing to improve. The FAA, though, still did not take action.

In another incident, an Allegiant pilot was fired for ending a flight and evacuating passengers after he smelled smoke in the cabin. The pilot has sued Allegiant over the firing, but the FAA did not review the incident.

The Tampa BayTampa Bay Times report lays much blame for the FAA’s apparently lax oversight on a steady stream of officials who leave the regulator to go to work for airlines. A\W

Tonga Airways cancela el servicio doméstico previsto

Sign at Vava'u airport in Tonga

AW | 2016 12 19 09:50 | AIRLINES

Tonga Airways has cancelled plans for a domestic air service after it failed to win ministerial approval

The airline had planned to start a twice-weekly service between Vava’u and Tongatapu using a chartered Fiji Airways aircraft from today. But Tonga Airways’ chief executive, Samiu Vaipulu, said the minister for civil aviation has failed to give his approval.

Mr Vaipulu said having invested a lot into developing a second air service for Tonga, he’s had to make arrangements to refund about 200 tickets that have been sold for the service. He said the ministry had expressed its support for the service, but was informed only last week that the minister, Semisi Sika, would not give his approval. A\W
