Argentina expands the budget to Aerolíneas
The Government of Argentina extends the budget to Aerolíneas/Austral
The Government of Argentina by National Decree of Need and Urgency (DNU) No. 668/2019 published in the Official Gazette, expands the budget line for Aerolíneas Argentinas/Austral íneas Aéreas in AR$ 150,855,455,584.00 million pesos. The Executive Branch, through the Coordinating Body of Financial Administration Systems, has granted guarantees in favor of the Aerolíneas Group aimed at financing guarantees for capital expenditures and refinancing of existing debts.
The national government authorized these items to meet guarantees for Aerolíneas Argentinas for US$ 100 million to finance guarantees for capital expenditures and refinancing of existing debts.
The current DNU 668/2019 will allow Aerolíneas Argentinas to resort to the Bank of the Argentine Nation (BNA) to be able to obtain liquidity and face its bulky debt maturities. The decree grants the guarantees to authorize a debt of US$ 100 million dollars that will be sufficient to cover the commitments with the Bank of Economic and Social Development (BNDES) of Brazil for the credit destined to the purchase of airplanes 24 Embraer E190-100AR, plus two planes are on leasing. Even so, the state group would need another US$ 100 million to finance its investment plan by the end of the year.
Given the urgent need, the company’s executives had requested several weeks ago the Government of Argentina to inject capital so as not to fall into default. Aerolíneas Argentinas has initiated talks with the authorities of the National Bank, the only banking entity that would accept to deliver this loan to a company with a chronic deficit. The Executive Branch evaluates signing a DNU for the BNA to grant a total of US$ 200 million to Aerolíneas. ![]()

Boeing has omitted safeguards to the MCAS security system in Boeing 737 MAX
The MCAS of the KC-46 military tanker aircraft is based on two sensors that measure the angle of the nose of the aircraft and compares the readings of each. The 737 MAX aero-commercial version is based on a single sensor. Boeing is expected to repair the 737 MAX version of MCAS by making it work more like the one previously designed for the KC-46.
