Nace nueva Canadian North

AW-70088775.jpg

AW | 2018 10 03 14:53 | AIRLINES ALLIANCE

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

New Canadian North is born

First Air and Canadian North merge to create an airline with a better presence in Canada

First Air is 100% owned by Makivik Corporation, while the Inuvialuit of the Western Arctic is the sole owner of Canadian North. So far, both offer daily round trips between Iqaluit (capital of Nunavut) and Ottawa, capital of Canada. The Inuits of Nunavik in northern Quebec and the Inuvialuit of the Western Arctic of Canada signed an agreement this week to merge two northern airlines, First Air and Canadian North, and to create the largest airline in the history of northern North America. Glen.

The proposed pan-arctic airline will operate under the name Canadian North, and the aircraft will carry the colors of First Air, including its logo in the form of inukshuk (a figure formed of stones built by the Inuit and Yupik peoples in the Arctic regions of America from the North, from Alaska to Greenland, through the Canadian Arctic).

«I am very happy to witness this day. Forty years ago, the Inuits of Nunavik invested in the air transport industry with a view to joining forces one day with those of the Inuit in other provinces and territories. That day has arrived. This hope became a reality. We wanted to own the Canadian Arctic airspace and we did it», said Charlie Watt, President of Makivik Corporation

«This is a giant step towards increasing the economic strength of the Inuits and Inuvialuit. We are proud of the achievements of the Inuvialuit Business Group and we are proud of the benefits perspective for the Inuvialuit», said Duane Smith, President and CEO of the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation.

The Nunavummiut (residents of Nunavut) had expressed this summer mixed feelings about the then merger plans of First Air and Canadian North. Inuits who are beneficiaries of the Nunavut land claim agreement receive a discount on Canadian North and First Air flights. The parties involved in the transaction expect to finalize it by the end of 2018. First Air and Canadian North said there will be no changes in services, rates and schedules. A \ W

The Boeing 777-9, at the Boeing factory in Everett, Washington, is taking shape with the folding wings at the ends of the wings. The new Boeing 777-9 is considered the longest commercial airplane in the world.

Folding wing, development innovative

The folding wings are developments of folding wing tips, a novel structure that allows to expand the wing surface and at the same time be folded to upwards to reduce the parking space in airports, a system widely used in military aviation in aircraft that employ aircraft carriers. The folding wing is the first tool used as a system of its kind installed in a commercial aircraft. These folding wing tips have the objective of operations within the current airports, so this system allows entry to a boarding gate of the same as any conventional aircraft, but will allow substantially improve their performance in flight better than any aircraft current commercial.

Assembly of the Boeing 777X

At the Boeing factory, engineers have started installing the first folding wings on the WH001 test aircraft. The first Boeing 777-9 will rollout in March 2019. The Boeing 777X is a development derived from the Boeing 777 family that will consist of two variants 777-8X and 777-9X. The Boeing 777-9X has a length of 76.7 meters and a wingspan of 72 meters. Both series will use more powerful commercial engines by General Electric GE9X of 100,000 pounds of thrust that the new models will use exclusively. The new family of the Boeing 777-8X and Boeing 777-9X will reduce fuel consumption because they use a more efficient wing.

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

EASA / FAA certify long-range capacity A321NEO

Airbus has received the EASA / FAA certifications of the A321NEO LR

Airbus Group has received the European EASA and American FAA certifications for the new A321NEO LR (Long Range) aircraft, initiating the preparation to begin long-range (LR) operations with launch customers of the most capable and flexible A321NEO LR version to date . The new LR derivative has come close to a significant step with the recent joint approval of EASA and FAA of the aircraft to operate with up to three additional under ground tanks (ACT), even for ETOPS operation. This latest milestone is one of several A321NEO capability options that, combined, allow the A321LR version to fly up to 4,000nm with 206 passengers with additional fuel stored in three ACTs, even on ETOPS routes. In addition, the ETOPS authorization allows up to 180 minutes of deviation time for a single engine, which is sufficient for any transatlantic route.

AW-72287773

A321NEO LR certification

The certification of the A321NEO LR includes approval of the main change to install up to three optional ACTs on the A321NEO, with its new associated fuel management systems and lower fuselage structural reinforcements; and the approval of the Airbus Cabin Flex (ACF) option of A321NEO, which incorporates a modified fuselage structure with new door arrangements together with a maximum takeoff weight capacity (MTOW) of up to 97 metric tons. It should be noted that only A321NEO’s that have the new ACF structure can offer the 97t MTOW and the ability to install three ACTs. Previously, the A321 family could accommodate up to two ACTs.

The ACF configuration will become standard for all new A321neos delivered after 2020, the capacities of 97tn MTOW and the ability to carry up to three ACTs will be options. For ACTs, customers would specify prior to the manufacture of the aircraft whether the aircraft will be equipped with an expanded fuel management system, as well as the structural reinforcements needed to secure the ACTs below the floor. The ability to add or remove ACT, combined with Airbus Cabin Flex, the 97tn MTOW capacity and the EASA / FAA approval to use the ACT with ETOPS, confer unprecedented airline flexibility for the cabin design, the density of seats, the payload of the load, the fuel capacity and routing of the mission.

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Before this, however, it has the summer season. According to Giancarlo, there will be 50 extra flights starting in December between Brazil and Argentina. «We are going to use our hub in Brasilia, strategically, to connect Argentines with all of Brazil and abroad, like our new flights to Cancun, Miami, Orlando and Quito. The good thing is that all departures from Ezeiza, which It will improve connectivity and our presence at the airport, while the Air France-KLM hub and Gol in the Northeast are more focused on the North of Brazil and Europe, «said the manager of the leading low-cost airline in Brazil».

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Primera Air declares bankruptcy

The low cost airline Primera Air stops flying after declaring bankruptcy

Primera Air, airline of Icelandic origin and capitalized by the Danish, has announced this Monday the cessation of its operations. The decision responds to the lack of an agreement with your bank, which is why you have been forced to declare bankruptcy. The operations will conclude this Monday at midnight.

Passengers have been disappointed on flights between London and the United States that have gone bankrupt when they were about to catch a flight from the airline. Passengers who had flights from Stansted Airport and were about to fly to New York and Washington have left the earth, a situation that is also living hundreds of people trying to return from the United States to Europe.

The European low-cost turbulence

The spokesman of the company has reported: «Without additional funding, we see no possibility of continuing our operations. Primera Air has regretted this situation, after the incredible hard work and dedication put into the creation of this airline». The airline has thanked all its employees for their work and dedication, as well as gratifying their customers and suppliers for their support and cooperation.

The ultra low cost had recently launched new routes between Spain and North America with the opening scheduled for July 2019 with three connections from Madrid to New York (Newark), Boston and Toronto, with which it entered to compete with Iberia, Air Europa, American Airlines , Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and Norwegian Air.

Primera Air is another vistima over low-cost airlines that are experiencing economic and financial difficulties. The airline had announced unfortunate events over the past two years that had seriously affected its financial situation, which forced it to close its flights from Birmingham, affecting most of the routes to Spain.

The signs of weakness that are affecting European low cost airlines seems to have no end. Although they appear robust due to the efficient reduction in extra expenses, it is these fine margins that question the efficiency and solidity of the low cost / low fare airlines. A\W
