Andes Airlines to lowcost

The Andes salteña to the first low cost: To Cordoba round trip, $ 1,500

In recent months, several low-cost international carriers have announced their landing in Argentina, a hyper-regulated market that amounts to only 10 million seats a year on domestic flights. They managed a permit before the ANAC to start in 2017 the Chilean-Brazilian Latam, Avianca through the recently acquired to Franco Macri MacAir, Flybondi, Alas del Sur and the largest in Europe, Norwegian. But, surprise, will be Andes Líneas Aéreas, from Salta capitals and linked to the governor Juan Manuel Urtubey, who charters the Argentine and Uruguayan selected, as well as several football squads, which will make the first low-cost flight in Argentina. The key of this move is not the competition that Aerolíneas Argentinas will be subjected to, but the disposition that there is in the airports of the interior, that do not abound, to lower the rates that they charge.

On Monday 12/12, for $ 1,500 round trip you will be able to travel by plane between Buenos Aires and Cordoba. The next experience will be on January 2, to Mar del Plata and return for $ 1,200.

A trip in micro semicama Córdoba-Buenos Aires for that date is reserved at $ 880, to which if you add the lap already exceeds the plane. Go on January 2 in a bus to Mar del Plata in executive bed, plus the return, requires a disbursement equal to the low cost air.

The comparison, a priori, is nothing more than to have an idea of prices, because the supply of passenger seats in the upcoming summer season is experimental.

The national government awarded the low cost kick-off to an airline that in June turned 10 years flying on Argentine air routes, and the celebration cocktail at the Four Seasons Hotel in Buenos Aires was attended by Transport Minister Guillermo Dietrich together To several provincial authorities of Salta, Jujuy and Chubut.

«For us it is a pride to have reached this important step in our business life, which through this time had to overcome difficult obstacles in the past and today we see with great hope the near future,» said Horacio Preneste, Commercial manager of the company Andes Líneas Aéreas, which currently connects Puerto Madryn with Buenos Aires and Salta.

The company positioned itself in the charter operations in the country and abroad flying to the most important tour operators, the largest operator of student tourism, corporate travel, and flights to football teams including the national team. He got to have 3rd. Place in the market share of cabotage, but very far, with just 1.5 points, behind the leader Airlines and its follower Lan.

I come from Salta

Since 20/06/2006 launched its services of passengers joining the province of Salta with Buenos Aires, it went through several economic turbulences that put it on the brink of collapse and even came to comment very recently that the low cost Irish airline , Ryanair, would buy it to land in Argentina. His co-founder, Declan Ryan, recently met with Ceo de Andes, Miguel Ziadi, a former manager of a small Aero 2000 company, and also received assurances from the governor of Córdoba, Juan Carlos Schiaretti, that he would support the Opening of a route to the Docta.

Suggestively the inaugural flight low cost of Andes is precisely to Cordoba. Like the company Avianca acquired MacAir, the Ryanair group had the eye on the airline based in Salta, operating for 10 years with five Boeing MD 83. A\W

ALTA 2016

THE CEO’S PANEL

ALTA 2016

The activity of the third and final day of ALTA begins early with the breakfast offered by the International Aviation Womens Association, who for almost 30 years have effectively promoted the advancement of women in aviation through a constantly expanding global network; Building strong professional connections, promoting leadership development and adding prominent women in the aviation field to the organization.

Founded in 1988, IAWA is chaired by Lisa Piccione, who takes the opportunity and invites us to her next event in January 2017 in Montreal:

«The core value of IAWA is reaching out to the next generations of women as well as attracting and retaining women leaders in the aviation and aerospace industry. This year, we are adding some new initiatives to improve this commitment. For all of us, great mentors were an important part of our professional development. We are working to create programs and further facilitate the connections that will have lasting value for our members and future women influential in world aviation, » he said.

The association has a scholarship program and also focuses on identifying and assisting young women who are working or looking for opportunities in the aeronautics sector so that nothing trumps their goals. The membership goes from 150 to 200 dollars and has the benefit of being a source of employment, as the CV upload to the page is shown to companies such as Bombardier, Airbus, Boeing, FedEx, United Airlines, Air Canada, among many others.

THE CEO’S PANEL
One of the most anticipated events on ALTA’s agenda began at noon, where the protagonists are the most influential characters in today’s aviation.

The moderator, Emilio Romano, CEO of Bank of America, Mexico, introduces Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines, followed by Andrés Conesa, CEO of Aeroméxico, Enrique Beltranena de Volaris, Enrique Cueto of LATAM and finally Albert Kluyver of InselAir .

The conference touches on a topic that has been talked about a lot: Donald Trump’s triumph in the presidency of the United States of America and its consequences for the aeronautics sector.

In this regard, the question is thrown into the air and Enrique Cueto is the most sensible to answer:

«The postures of US presidential campaigns suggest challenges for airlines. They provide an inevitable point of discussion for those invited to the forum leaders. While largely silent on specific issues in the aerospace industry during his campaign, Donald’s protectionism, his anti-immigration ideas and the general rhetoric against globalization present us with a whole host of suspicions. «

For the region, his presidency is concerned about the recently reopened US-Cuba air service. It could also potentially affect the growth of cross-border traffic between the United States and Mexico. For that reason, a great part of the conference was tense when touching that subject, that, to say of the long silences and looks between the panellists, seems a disturbing subject.

It was also unclear what the outcome of the election would be for American Airlines and LATAM, as recently there was a joint venture proposal and is pending before the US Department of Justice.

For US airlines and airports, Trump’s pledges to reduce taxes and invest in infrastructure could bring some positive benefits, but for ALTA member airlines it is still uncertain.

Enrique Cueto, with sympathy and total self-confidence, concludes the conference by declaring:

«In aviation, everything affects. If there is bad weather, it affects us. If oil becomes expensive, it affects us. If our fleet increases, it affects us. If new routes are opened, it affects us. If none of the above happens, it affects us. So what do we do? What we have been doing! Adapt. Stake out what no longer works. Keep what does work. It’s what we do every day! So why keep asking yourself what’s going to happen to us? «

Laughter from the panel and the audience, followed by applause, close the CEO’s Panel. Where, in addition to discussing the challenges of Latin American and Caribbean aviation, he learned from emotional intelligence in facing the challenges, courtesy of the most amiable Enrique Cueto. A\W

AW | 2016 11 17 05:29 | AIRLINES

New Leaf Airlines expanding services out of Calgary

Sunshine and warmer temperatures at a lower cost will soon be made available to Calgary travellers looking to get to Phoenix.

Canada’s newest low-fare airline New Leaf announcing Wednesday that it will begin a route from YYC Calgary International to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. People can book their trips now with service starting on January 19th, 2017.

The move follows a recent decision by the airline to begin offering service to Abbotsford and Hamilton from Calgary over the holidays. President and CEO Jim Young says they’re excited about a move that represents their first foray to a sun destination in the United States.

“The second thing that’s good about it is we’re sending customers to an airport that a lot of second homeowners in the Alberta region are actually closer to and this will make it more convenient for them and of course we’re doing this with our ultra-low fares and convenient simple service.” Young says they don’t want to make travel just affordable for those in the smaller cities and says there are a lot of disenfranchised travellers in hub cities who can’t afford to fly.

He says the response to their airline has been so great in the southern Alberta area that they believe they can carry it through and remain a sustainable force at YYC. “I think we could possibly be putting more out for the summer as well, it’s Canada’s 150th birthday and we think it’s a great way for people to get out and see the country.”

“You’ve got a great new international building and that extra terminal space gives a lot of room for growth and we’re hoping to be part of that.” A\W

Alas Uruguay busca nuevo inversor

AW | 2016 11 17 05:517 | AIRLINES

Alas Uruguay sale fails to Chilean airline and sees the option of Brazilian Azul

Representatives of the Uruguayan government met with executives of the Brazilian airline in recent days, with the intention of devising a formula so that it can operate the routes that have Alas Uruguay, but did not transcend further details on the result of those efforts.

LAW said that its decision not to advance the purchase «is not due to a loss of interest in the operation analyzed jointly by both companies in the previous weeks, but to the difficult situation of the company, and as it has been since the First day, the times were pressing. «

The possibility that the Chilean airline Latin American Wings (LAW) bought 100% of the Uruguayan shareholder Alas Uruguay was on the way. Through a released yesterday, the trasandina reported that it had «decided to desist from the signing of the framework agreement with the national company». This agreement had been announced on Thursday of last week. At that time, it was indicated that the Chilean would take care of the total of the liabilities of Alas Uruguay (the largest, the US $ 15 million lent by the Fonds and should start paying in January 2018).

«In the event that the legal and financial audit of Alas Uruguay advances correctly, it is expected that the airline will resume operations as soon as possible, with the restoration of the air bridge between the city of Montevideo and Aeroparque airport in Buenos Aires , Which is part of LAW’s strategy to expand its presence in Latin America,» said the text released last week.

However, the negotiations were shipwrecked. Yesterday LAW said that its decision not to advance the purchase «is not due to a loss of interest in the operation analyzed jointly by both companies in the previous weeks, but to the difficult situation of the company, and as has been since The first day, the times were pressing. «

A source close to the negotiation indicated  that now the hope that Alas Uruguay is hosting is the concretion of an agreement with the Brazilian Blue, whose name had sounded in previous months.

On 24 October, Alas Uruguay informed the National Directorate of Civil Aviation and Aeronautical Infrastructure (Dinacia) of its decision to suspend operations for 60 days. «Given the current situation of the company and the fact that due to the times that are handled within the aeronautical industry, the validity of the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and the other permits that Alas Uruguay has for us are at risk. It is unfeasible to move forward with our negotiations, » LAW argued.

A source close to the negotiation indicated to the Observer that now the hope that Alas Uruguay is hosting is the concretion of an agreement with the Brazilian Azul, whose name had sounded in previous months.

Representatives of the Uruguayan government met with executives of the Brazilian airline in recent days, with the intention of devising a formula so that it can operate the routes that have Alas Uruguay, but did not transcend further details on the result of those efforts.

Long ago, added an informant, Azul had proposed to «take over» (not to buy) the company, regardless of the planes that were leased Alas Uruguay – now has none in its possession – and hire 30 people. Before the cessation of operations, 150 workers were members of the national airline. «In that case, (Azul) would act as a base of operations, like any foreign airline operating in Uruguay,» the source added. United: Boeing 747s to be retired by October 2018

United Airlines is shifting its Boeing 747 flying to newer widebody jets, including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Boeing 777 models that the carrier has ordered. The 747s in United’s fleet – all 747-400 variants of the jet – seat 374 passengers.

United’s current Boeing 777-200s seat anywhere from 266 to 364 passengers, based on the various configurations it has for the aircraft. United’s 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliner models seat 219 and 252 passengers, respectively.

Delta Air Lines is the only other U.S. carrier that currently uses 747s for passenger service. Like United, Delta also has begun to phase out its models of the jet. The carrier is on record as saying it expects to retire its last 747 by the end of next year.

Delta spokesman Morgan Durrant tells Today in the Sky that the airline expects to have five 747-400s remaining in service by the end of 2016. Delta will use several models to replace its 747s. They include new Airbus A330s that already are being delivered to the carrier as well as new Airbus A350s that Delta expects to begin receiving next year. A\W

Air Niugini receives fifth Fokker 70

Air Niugini ‘s latest acquisition, a fifth Fokker 70 aircraft arrived in Port Moresby Port Moresby over the weekend (Saturday 12th November).

The aircraft is currently awaiting completion of regulatory approvals and paperwork from CASA PNG prior to commencing operations. Air Niugini is expecting another four F70 aircraft during 2017, to take the total up to nine aircraft.

Air Niugini Chief Executive Officer Mr Simon Foo, in welcoming the additional F70, said this latest arrival is a continuation of Air Niugini’s re-fleeting exercise to replace the Q400 aircraft and standardize its domestic and short haul regional international operations on an all Fokker 100/70 jet fleet.

He said, “the F70 has the ability to fly 35% more distance with the same load as its propeller driven competitors, and its faster speed reduces flight times by 20minutes on average . It also flies 30% higher than the Q400 and ATR,  ensuring customers of a smoother and quieter journey.”

The F70 aircraft service both Air Niugini’s domestic and international destinations. The addition of this latest aircraft will allow the airline to reintroduce services on the sectors between Lae, Hoskins, and Rabaul, reintroduce jet services to Hoskins later this month as soon as the runway upgrade is complete, as well as adding services on other routes to cater for the peak Christmas period.

Boeing cierra fábrica en México

AW | 2016 11 16 20:11 | INDUSTRY

Boeing closes factory with 300 workers

Most of the 300 workers at the Boeing factory in El Paso will lose their jobs due to the consolidation of operations carried out by the aeronautics company in different parts of the country.

Through a statement, Boeing also announced the closure of its plant in Newington, Virginia, and the consolidation of California and Washington, although it plans to create 2 500 jobs in Los Angeles, California; St. Louis, Missouri and Huntsville, Alabama.

«We expect some employees to have opportunities at other Boeing plants, and we’ve all offered them assistance in finding employment whether in or out of Boeing,» said Megan McCormick, a company spokeswoman. McCormick confirmed that consolidation work is expected to come to fruition by 2020.

«By making better use of our facilities we are going to improve efficiency and promote greater collaboration,» said Leanne Caret, chairwoman and head of the Boeing, Defense, Space and Security Council.

The El Paso plant manufactures implements for the aerospace and military industries, with a base of engineers, assemblers and clerks.

Caret’s words support the idea of plant closure, leaving a total of 4.5 million cubic feet of its facilities (6 percent of the total), which currently occupy about 80 million cubic feet.

Companies such as Lockheed Martin Corp. and Raytheon Co. have also downsized their facilities recently, up to as much as 10 percent.

Oscar Leeser, mayor of El Paso, said he was dismayed by the news of the closure of the plant in the city, and aimed to find solutions for the loss of jobs.

«We are surprised by Boeing’s announcement, especially after we have worked with them over 2 years to help them get their certification from the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), which would allow Boeing to diversify its operations,» he said. Leeser.

«As soon as I was notified my office contacted local Boeing leaders to offer assistance in preventing closure,» said the Mayor of El Paso.

The Boeing plant in El Paso is located at 9566 of Railroad Drive, corner with Threadgill in the Northeast of the city, and within the plan announced Tuesday by its directives, it is projected that in less than 4 years Have liquidated or reinstated their employees.

McCormick told local media that some of El Paso’s employees are expected to be able to relocate to Huntsville, Alabama, where Boeing has 2 floors with 2,750 workers, a site where up to 400 seats will be added.

In Los Angeles 1,600 jobs will be opened, and in San Luis there will be 500 new jobs for the aeronautics company.

«This is a business decision, and it does not reflect the work that has been done here,» McCormick said.

The name of Boeing arrived in El Paso in 1996, but the Railroad Drive plant was already operating in the 1980s under the name of Rockwell, before that company was acquired.

Boeing and its operations in El Paso lost flight in 2014, when 160 of its employees were stopped in an effect created by the reduction of the federal budget of Defense.

At the national level, Boeing has cut nearly 7,000 jobs so far in 2016. In 2015 its workforce lost 2.5 percent. Founded originally as a shipowner, Boeing designs, manufactures and sells aircraft, helicopters, missiles and satellites, as well as providing advice and technical support. It is currently the second contractor of the United States Department of Defense and one of the largest exporters in the country based on the value of the dollar. Its headquarters is in Chicago. A\W

AW | 2016 11 16 19:40 | AIRLINES

VLM would also go fly F70, A320 and A330

ANTWERP – slowly becomes more clear about the plans of SHS Antwerp Aviation SA, the Belgian VLM Airlines will revive. The plan is that this year start flight operations with Fokker 50s. In 2017 and 2018, also wants to fly the airline with the Fokker 70, Airbus A320 and even the widebody A330.

At the recently reactivated Web site of VLM Airlines says SHS in Antwerp Aviation was looking for captains and first officers for the Fokker 50 and 70 and the Airbus A320 and A330. The Fokker 50’s and 70’s are for flights home Antwerp.

From which airports will fly the Airbus is not yet known. With the A330’s society would include flights to and want to export to China. In any case, SHS Antwerp Aviation seems to have chosen to retain the brand name VLM Airlines.

Bankruptcy
VLM Airlines ceased operations in June due to bankruptcy. The Fokker 50 fleet of the company remained thereon to the ground. In September it was announced that SHS Antwerp Aviation SA, a subsidiary of the Hoofddorp-based SHS Aviation BV, takes over the insolvent airline.

Before the operation can be resumed VLM Airlines has yet to obtain an AOC. How long that process will take is not yet known, left a spokesman earlier this week know in Belgian media.

VLM Airlines has been very active on social media such as Facebook. Thus followers asked which destinations the company would have to fly and that the cabin crew should or should not wear a hat. A\W

AW | 2016 11 16 12:30 | AIRLINES ROUTES

«Miami-Dade County looks forward to welcoming Aer Lingus and its passengers to our community,» added Giménez.

The Dublin-Miami line will also be the first transatlantic route in which passengers will be able to receive prior permission from the US Customs and Border Protection Office. (CBP) to pass their passports before they leave Ireland.

Thus, travelers to Aer Lingus, which serves 11 million people a year, will arrive in Miami as «domestic passengers» and avoid passport and customs control.

Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. Gonzalez said the agreement with an Aer Lingus «caliber» airline serves to «strengthen ties across Europe» and increase the «growing airline roster» of the facilities To its position, that already are 107, a record among the American airports. A\W
