Air Nostrum pilots strike
They project indefinite strike
The pilots of the Air Nostrum regional airline give an overwhelming support to the call for an indefinite strike. The regional Iberia Air Nostrum command crew, gathered in Assembly on January 30 and 31, 2023, have supported with 92.37% of the votes the call for an indefinite strike to protest against the blockade that the technical crew come suffering from the company in its claims during the negotiation of a collective agreement.
The Spanish Air Line Pilot Union (SEPLA) decided to convene an assembly to decide the measures they will take in response to the position that the company, according to criticism, «prevents progress in negotiations to sign a new agreement that sets fair working conditions and salary for workers».
SEPLA has highlighted the overwhelming support to the union and the indefinite strike. In a statement, he regretted that the attitude of the airline «has caused this position to ignore any understanding and systematically reject the proposals that, for more than seven months, has presented the company, even those that do not have a quantification economic».
Along the same lines, the pilots have claimed that the company «cannot continue to function at the expense of the working conditions of the pilots.» In addition, the union has asked that the call of the strike is not an excuse to resume coercion against workers, as happened after the December strike call».
For its part, Air Nostrum has deeply lamented the intention of the SEPLA of convening a new pilot strike and considers «unjustified the measure at the point where negotiations are currently found». The airline has assured that «it maintains its negotiating will and will be on the table with the unions on February 7 and 8 with the intention of reaching an agreement with the collective».
In addition, it has reiterated the offer presented in the SIMA in December 2022 with «an accumulated salary increase in the next three years of 13% consolidated and 3% more unsecured based on objectives for the second pilots, which in total can reach 16%. Some figures that are in line with what is being negotiated in the sector and above the average of most collective agreements of the country».

Flybe your insular past
Rise, fall and demise airline strong ties to Jersey Islands
The islanders of the Jersey Islands, United Kingdom retain the historic regional airline called Jersey European Airways (JEA), formed after the merger of Intra Airways and Express Air Services. JEA was created in 1979, flying Viscount, Twin Otters, Shorts 360 aircraft among other aircraft in its time. Four years later, Jack Walker of Lancastrian, who had moved to the island, bought the airline. Under his ownership, it grew substantially. New aircraft, including the Fokker F-27 workhorse and BAe 146 Whisper jet, joined the fleet and its route network expanded.
Although the island remained a major hub for JEA, with aircrew, ground staff and engineers based at the airport, the airline’s goal of becoming a leading regional airline in the UK led to its name change to British European in 2000 and, two years later, at Flybe. By then, the airline had moved its headquarters to Exeter Airport. Exeter Airport is an international airport located at Clyst Honiton in East Devon, near the city of Exeter and within County Devon, in South West England.
In subsequent years, the company’s ties to Jersey were further weakened: its engineering base was shut down, and eventually the Jersey base was shut down entirely. For years, the airline had employed and trained Jersey-based pilots and cabin crew, but that pipeline of opportunities came to an end in 2014. Nevertheless, Flybe remained a significant carrier for the islanders. EasyJet may have become the main airline to and from Gatwick, but Flybe remained the main and often only airline operating to and from such major regional airports as Southampton, Birmingham and Exeter. It also signed a codeshare agreement with Blue Islands on inter-island routes.
Low flying reputation
Although often performing well on the punctuality charts, Flybe gained an unsavory reputation among the islanders for being unreliable, earning the nickname ‘Flymaybe’. Many islanders were therefore only mildly surprised when Flybe, by then sold by the Walker family, first went into Administration in March 2020, one of the first high-profile air casualties of the pandemic.
Eyebrows may have been raised higher at the news, in April 2021, that attempts to resurrect Flybe were being made by a global private equity firm, which had bought the brand for a nominal sum. Any last thread connecting the airline to the island of its ancestry was severed in March 2022, when Jersey fell outside the proposed proposed route network.
Re-startup
The now Birmingham-based airline would serve Belfast, Newquay, Avignon, Amsterdam and other routes, but not the Channel Islands. Services took off in April 2022. Amid a messy takeover of the new Flybe, the company was struggling to gain strength amid a global air services crisis and lacking liquidity to continue canceled all flights when it went into administration in January 2023, leaving thousands of passengers stranded and penniless. With the end of the new Flybe, the final chapter of an airline founded in the Jersey Islands disappears, shattering the illusions that was once a distinctive mark of those unique Channel Islands.

USA-China seek to restore ties
Visit Secretary State to approximate political-economic relations
The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, plans to visit the Popular Republic of China on February 5 and 6, 2023 in what has been described as an effort to rebuild relations in the midst of disputes over Taiwan and Pandemia of Covid-19. The Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen, also plans to visit China while the Biden administration considers US investment restrictions in parts of China’s technology industry and the possibility of reducing tariffs on Chinese products.
As part of the tour, The Boeing Company is expectant to hunt to find diplomatic improvements to reconstruct the economic ties of one of the most important economies on the planet. The American company placed firm orders for 138 units of its Boeing 737 Max aircraft, but have been stored after the line setting of the line for more than four years, after the China Aviation Administration (CAA) approved the re-model certification amid disagreements between China and the United States. After the United States and Ireland, China had been the third largest market for 737 MAX with deliveries of 93 aircraft between the 2017–2022 period.
Chinese airlines will need the 737 MAX to meet the growing demand for air trips, said Boeing CEO David Calhoun last week during a telephone conference with analysts to discuss the quarterly results of Boeing. «They need airplanes. First, we have to recover the planes they already have in the air. The second step is to return to the delivery of the planes that are on our track waiting to be delivered to China», said David Calhoun.
Boeing had planned to recommend some of those stored airplanes, but David Calhoun said in the earning call that the effort stopped «until we completely understood where China wants to go». The company announced this week that it will open a fourth assembly line for the 737 MAX in the second half of 2024. Boeing aims to increase the production of the unique hallway plane of thirty (30) current monthly units to raise it to fifty (50) per month.
Boeing shares increased 76% in the four months between the end of September and the end of January, since the company’s annual cash flow became positive and the deliveries of commercial airplanes increased. The Standard & Poor’s 500 (SP500) stock index rose 14% during the same period.

Intentos reunir capital
Flyr declares bankruptcy
Flyr de Norway presents bankruptcy and ends operations
The low-cost Norwegian airline Flyr announced that it is declared in bankruptcy and has announced the cessation of its air operations with an immediate effect after not gathering the financing required to cover its obligations. The airline management said on Monday, January 30, 2023 that it would end operations after not being able to raise enough capital to spend the winter season. The same day, the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSL) placed Flyr in a so called recovery box, a special compartment where Oslo Børs can place values when the issuer is subject to circumstances that make the price of the values particularly uncertain. Flyr operated his last flights on January 30, 2023, without any of the airline aircraft has been active since he arrived at the Gardermoen Airportr/OSL de Oslo. On January 31, 2023, the airline announced that it would be declared in bankruptcy, making the announcement on February 1, 2023.
«The decision of the Board is unanimous and is because there is no longer a realistic opportunity to achieve a solution for the short-term liquidity situation», the airline explained in a presentation published in the OSE. Meanwhile, customers were received with a message on the airline website that it had been «unsuccessful with the new financial plan and the Board concluded Tuesday night that there are no alternatives for greater operation. We will miss them all From the bottom of our hearts and we will apologize deeply with all those affected by the fact that we now have to land», said the announcement.
Attempts to gather capital
Before its operations end up abruptly in a period of a couple of days, Flyr has been looking to raise cash to fulfill its short-term obligations in recent months. Called the «November Financing Plan», the low-cost airline issued 25,000 million new shares at a price of kr 0.01 (US$ 0.0010) to raise up to NOK 250 million Norwegian Crowns/US$ 25 million capital on 10 November 2022. The cash would have been used to pay the quotas of the European Union Emissions Commerce (EU ETS), as well as to allow the airline to increase for the next season high in spring and summer. However, the company quoted considerably below the subscription price of the November financing plan, which meant that being successful with the November financing plan became more and more unlikely, the airline expressed in the presentation. His hope was to lease airplanes to an unidentified European airline, and the latter sought to lease up to six Flyr Boeing 737 (6). The termination of the lease was subject to the low -cost Norwegian airline acquired sufficient funds through its financing plan.
«The evaluation carried out by the Company and its financial advisors was that this crew with crew, which would have secured the income and a profitable operation for 50% of the company’s fleet for the entire period between the end of March and finals October 2023», Flyr said, added that the agreement would replace the November financing plan.
To meet the conditions to start the lease with crew of its aircraft and replace its cash position, the low-cost Norwegian airline sought to raise up to NOK 330 million/US$ 33 million with the help of several financial advisors, namely three Headquarters in Norway. «Despite the reduction of the risk of the investment and the support of several key shareholders, managers have not yet been able to increase the sufficient subscription of the market», Flyr concluded.
In total, the airline had twelve (12) Boeing 737 aircraft in its fleet, including six (6) Boeing 737-8 MAX. Flyr began flying in June 2021 and after crossing a period of crisis from air trips worldwide, their unsuccessful efforts in their negotiations in the midst of an economic framework of instability made the Norwegian airline Flyr end at the decline of another I try to restore a healthy market in Norway.
