Alertan fallos en el Airbus A350

AW | 2017 08 24 13:47 | INDSUTRY / SAFETY / SECURITY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Alert on Airbus A350 crashes

The European Aviation Safety Agency has sent an alert, the highest level of urgency of the body for the aircraft Airbus A350

A chain of failures would cause excessive overheating that would involve the fuel tank system. Airbus Group has assured that it will solve the error quickly with a computer update.

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has warned of a possible «chain of errors» that could lead to a fire in the fuel tanks of the Airbus A350-941 model. The warning, the greater urgency of the warnings published by the EASA, draws attention to a combination of failures that could cause overheating of the hydraulic fluid, and thus cause a fire of the mixture of air and fuel in the tank.

The European authority EASA explained that the explosion could happen if a hydraulic pump in the cooling system stops working and the coolant, which is stored next to the fuel tanks, is overheated. The mixture of air and fuel in the tank could explode. If this problem is not detected and the fuel blast safety system (FTIS) is not active, the mixture of air and fuel in the tank could become reactive. Airbus explained that the problem of overheating could be quickly detected and remedied thanks to an update of the aircraft computer system.

The EASA publishes almost daily safety warnings to manufacturers and operators, but on rare occasions it is alerts. The Airbus A350-900 series are long-haul and wide-body aircraft that began operating at the end of 2014 and had been delivered to the end of 2016 for a total of 94 units. The only European airline operating the Airbus A350 is the German Lufthansa. A \ W

Informe incidente vuelo ACA759

AW | 2017 08 24 13:32 | SAFETY / SECURITY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Flight report incident ACA759

FAA Report to Airlines on San Francisco Incident

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a safety alert to airlines following the nearby disaster at San Francisco International Airport on July 7, 2017.

Air Canada‘s ACA759 flight with an Airbus A320 reached sixty feet of landing on top of four aircraft when it landed on a taxiway. The crew made a turn to land safely.

On the alert, the FAA qualified the pilots’ mistake of lining up on a taxiway instead of the 28R runway on which it had been cleared, an «extreme example» of an incorrect approach.

Air Canada flight 759 (ACA 759) flies just above a United Airlines flight waiting on the taxiway at the San Francisco International Airport on July 7 in this image released by the National Transportation Safety Board.

The alert to the airlines indicates that a series of protections should have prevented the airplane from descending to a tail height of the four jets waiting for authorization to enter the technological and operational track. «Due to the seriousness of the recent incident,» the report says, airlines should use error as a teaching moment.

The navigation tools in the plane and on the ground should alert the crews when the illumination of the track is confusing or the tracks are closed. Communication between pilots at pre-flight briefings and during landing should prepare them for a return if something «does not seem right» in the report’s approach says.

The National Transportation Safety Board is conducting an investigation into the event, though it will be hampered by the fact that Air Canada continued to fly the plane after landing in San Francisco. The effect of this was to tape over the conversation recorded by the cockpit voice recorder. What the pilots said before and during the landing was lost.

Air Canada was not required to report the event and what could have been a chain reaction disaster was brought to the NTSB by the Federal Aviation Administration several days later. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Airbus manufactures the A320 in three continents

Assembly of the Airbus A320 in Europe, China and USA

Airbus has set a milestone in commercial aviation, the simultaneous production of the A320 on three continents. The company will deliver the first A320 to its assembly plant in Mobile, Alabama, on August 25, which means that North America will join Europe and Asia to produce one of the world’s most popular aircraft.

The Mobile facility in Alabama, United States, opened in 2015 and to date has produced three dozen larger Airbus A321s. The first A320 built in the United States will be delivered Friday to Spirit Airlines, which has ordered 98 aircraft. At the end of the year, Airbus plans to achieve a production rate of four aircraft per month in the mobile facility.

«The sun never sets on making Airbus!» Company spokeswoman Mary Anne Greczyn wrote in an email. «Internationalization, approaching our customers, and a global industrial footprint are part of our overall strategy.»

Airbus opened its first assembly plant outside Europe in 2008 in Tianjin, China, where it produces A319s and A320s; European production of A320 takes place in Toulouse, France. The European company is also building a completion center in Tianjin for wide body A330 models.

The single-aisle A320 is the intermediate model of the Airbus family of aircraft favored by shorter domestic flights. The classic and new engine options (neo), combined, are the company’s best-selling commercial aircraft, with a total of 8,421 orders, including a backlog of over 3,800 as of July 31.

The assembly plants for three Boeing aircraft, based in Chicago, are all located in the United States, although the company started an interior finishing center near Shanghai for the 737 MAX aircraft destined for China in May. The largest source of aviation growth Next 20 years. The 737 is the best-selling and profitable model of Boeing, a direct competitor to the A320. When Boeing’s Chinese facilities are opened next year, the 737 MAX will be flown there for the final touches such as seats, paint and carpet.

«It’s basically carpeted,» said Richard Aboulafia, an aerospace analyst at Teal Group, about Boeing’s operation in China. «To Airbus, everyone who moved a production line to China regretted it almost instantly. Before Airbus, the aircraft assembly business in China has been financially loaded, with generally weak sales», he explained.

«Last year, Brazilian manufacturer Embraer dissolved its Chinese joint venture, Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry. For over 12 years, the company produced 50-seat Embraer regional jets and several Legacy 650 business jets in China. In the late 1980s, McDonnell Douglas moved part of its production of MD-80s and MD-90s to China, but found catastrophically weak sales and even had to send some aircraft to US customers, Aboulafia» said.

Boeing predicts that the Asia-Pacific region will buy more than 15,000 of the nearly 40,000 new aircraft it anticipates as global demand by 2035. The Asian market will require almost twice as many North American aircraft as the second-expected market.

Boeing is about to goose its monthly output from 737 to 47, from 42, and to 50 by the end of the decade to keep pace with rising demand. But Aboulafia says the company will almost certainly give up any significant assembly work in Asia, a tactic that other companies have used to boost Chinese sales. «I do not think they think it’s worth it,» he said. «They have had fantastic success selling the 737 MAX there.»  A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Canada Competition Office on Nunavut Airlines

The Canadian Competition Agency Office concluded investigation into price war in Nunavut

home-map-nv

The Canadian Competition Office has completed its investigation into the alleged anti-competitive behavior of Nunavut’s three major airlines, and the independent agency announced that it did not find sufficient evidence to file charges under Canada’s Competition Law on predatory price warfare allegedly caused the bankruptcy of Air Sarvaq do not comply with a legal test.

The allegations made following the admission by the Competition Office that unprecedented passenger discounts between Iqaluit and Ottawa, which First Air and Canadian North offered in May 2016, «probably» contributed to the disappearance of the operator of Go Sarvaq Short duration of Iqaluit in May 2016. «Although the Bureau considers that the alleged predatory pricing promotions of First Air and Canadian North were likely to impact Go Sarvaq’s plans for entry, the Office did not find sufficient evidence to conclude that they were anti-competitive», The Office concluded in an Aug. 22 report and an accompanying press release.

Go Sarvaq canceled its proposed Iqaluit-Ottawa-Halifax air route before its first plane left the Iqaluit runway, after a spring price war by First Air and Canadian North expelled them from the market.

After Sarvaq doubled, Nunavut’s top three executives appeared before a special caucus assembly in the Nunavut legislature, but they were unapologetic when the MLA assaulted airlines for declines in passenger service.

The government of Nunavut, the city of Iqaluit and Go Sarvaq filed official complaints with the Competition Office, some of which date back to 2015, when codeshare agreements were announced between First Air and Canadian North and First Air and Calm Air.

Calm_Air_C-GTJY_Saab

In its final report, the Office said it investigated three alleged abuses under Canada’s Competition Act: The merger between First Air and Calm Air airlines and their impact on cargo and passenger service in Kivalliq; The already missing codeshare agreement between First Air and Canadian North on 16 routes north; And predatory pricing allegations by First Air and Canadian North on the Iqaluit-Ottawa route.

The Office report said it had abandoned its code-share research between Canadian North and First Air after the airlines announced in November 2016 that they would phase out the practice in the spring of the following year. But that announcement came just days after the Competition Bureau said it had filed applications in court asking First Air and Canadian North to file documents and records.

The Office also concluded that the regional benefits of the merger between Calm Air and First Air «significantly outweigh its anti-competitive effects.» In a deal signed in 2015, First Air agreed to abandon most of its operations in the Kivalliq region of Nunavut, but leased its aircraft to Calm Air to operate 13 weekly flights between Winnipeg and Rankin Inlet. First Air was also authorized under the agreement to sell seats on Calm Air flights within the Kivalliq region through a code-share.

The Bureau concluded that the «merger will likely result in significant efficiency gains» and will improve the financial viability of both airlines after the analysis. Shortly after the publication of the report, Canadian North replied that it was «pleased» with the completion of the investigation of the office.

«It is important to note that the Office’s statement confirms that North Canada’s competitive response to Go Sarvaq’s proposal to enter the Ottawa-Iqaluit market as a third-party re-seller of aircraft capacity complied with all competition laws Applicable», said Steve Hankirk.

«The Office did not find that the revenues generated were consistently below the average avoidable costs associated with the operation of flights during the period in which the alleged predatory charges were offered,» the report added, adding that there was no evidence of First Air or Canadian North Coordinated their prices against Go Sarvaq.

«[Northern air service] is essential for remote communities, businesses and governments that rely on it for economic development, food and health care,» Pecman said. Competition Commissioner John Pecman said in a press release that the office would remain vigilant to ensure compliance of Northern airlines under the Competition Act. A \ W

Laser Airlines solo opera vuelos para Aruba (11 a.m. jueves y domingo), Santo Domingo (12 m a diario), Panamá (10:45 a.m.) y Miami (1 p.m. a diario).

In the international boarding area only five airlines operate, including Laser, Copa, Tap, Iberia, Santa Barbara, American and Air Europa. Some only make one or two flights a day. Others barely offer departures two or three times a week from Maiquetía, on the same plane, which takes its crew to another country.

«Iberia and Air Europa pilots do not stay in the country for safety, which changed its check-out area to Bogota,» said Dinamic, commented the staff of the Maiquetía International Airport Institute (IAIM).

American Airlines operators said they only make two daily flights to Miami, out of the seven that were made in 2016. One at 2 p.m. And 3:25 p.m.

Laser Airlines only operates flights to Aruba (11 a.m. Thursday and Sunday), Santo Domingo (12 m daily), Panama (10:45 a.m.) and Miami (1 p.m. daily). Copa Airlines offers flights to Panama only at 1 p.m. And 6 p.m. during the week.

INAC suspende ruta Venezuela-Panamá de SBA Airlines

AW | 2017 08 22 19:31 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

INAC suspends SBA Airlines route between Venezuela-Panama

As of August 29, the operations of the airline Santa Bárbara Airlines on the route from Panama to Venezuela and vice versa, by orders of the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC), are suspended.

Sources linked to travel agencies at the national level reported that they were notified of the measure by the Venezuelan aeronautical authority.

The company SBA Airlines has not issued an official statement on the matter, and travel agencies with Maiquetía-Panama tickets from August 29 onwards have warned their passengers to take the forecasts that the case warrants.

Sources of the INAC indicated that the decision of the aeronautical institution is due to the little operative capacity that has the airline Santa Bárbara Airlines. The airline’s flights have been covered for four weeks by the airline Aserca, which belongs to the same group and commercial ally. This is detrimental to internal domestic routes.

It also transpired that the flights to Miami are being operated by the airline World Atlantic, American company, because at the moment, Santa Bárbara Airlines, has no operating aircraft. A \ W
