Ultra Air obligada a ajustes en aerolínea

La aerolínea chilena JetSMART Airlines Group ha anunciado el 22 de Marzo de 2023 que desistía de su solicitud de comprar a la línea aérea low cost Ultra Air. Ante su delicada situación económica la low-cost colombiana se pronunció por la posición de la aerolínea del grupo Indigo Partners y aseguró que la cancelación del proceso de interés de adquisición, obligaría a ajustar sus operaciones aéreas. Ultra Air respondió ante la nueva postura de JetSMART: “La salida del acuerdo puede obligarnos a ajustar la operación”.

La compañía aérea de bajo costo hizo un llamado al Gobierno de Colombia para que les brinde su apoyo, con el fin de mantener las operaciones de su servicio. “Seguimos trabajando para obtener nuevos recursos de nuestros inversionistas y banqueros, ya que la salida de JetSMART del acuerdo firmado, puede obligarnos a ajustar la operación, caso en el cual estaremos contactando a nuestros clientes para minimizar los impactos que estos cambios puedan generarles”, informó la compañía aérea Ultra Air.

En medio del complejo contexto de aviación en Colombia, Ultra Air es parte de la difícil situación a la que se ha enfrentado el mercado aéreo colombiano debido al precio del combustible, la inflación, la tasa de cambio y la incertidumbre ante la suspensión de operaciones del operador del 25 por ciento del mercado, por lo que hizo un llamado al Gobierno para que le brinden apoyo a la low-cost, con el fin de continuar prestando servicio de transporte aéreo a sus usuarios. “Como empresa netamente colombiana, seguimos trabajando con nuestros 350 colaboradores directos, 1500 indirectos, proveedores, accionistas y las autoridades para defender el bajo costo a favor de los colombianos”, expresó Ultra Air en su comunicado.

La compañía aérea de bajo costo reiteró que, en el caso de tener que realizar ajustes a sus operaciones, informaría de manera oportuna a sus clientes, con el fin de minimizar el impacto de la mejor manera posible.

Las aerolíneas Ultra Air y JetSMART Airlines Chile habían celebrado el 16 de Marzo de 2023 una Carta de Entendimiento (LoU) para que la compañía aérea chilena comprara la aerolínea colombiana, a menos de una semana, la negociación había cancelado. Por medio de un comunicado JetSMART dio a conocer en la noche del 22/03 que decidió dar por terminado el proceso y cancelar la compra de Ultra Air, tras la etapa de análisis propia de este tipo de negociaciones. “Hemos avanzado en el proceso y consideramos, que, por diversos factores, no es posible continuar con la intención de compra Ultra Air y hemos cancelado la carta de entendimiento y dado por terminado el proceso”, informó el Presidente y CEO de JetSMART, Estuardo Ortíz.

Perspectivas JetSMART Colombia
La aerolínea chilena aseguró que la decisión de cancelación de compra de Ultra Air no influirá en los proyectos que tiene JetSMART a futuro en el mercado aéreo colombiano. “Nuestro compromiso y confianza en el mercado colombiano sigue firme. Como hemos afirmado en todo este tiempo, en JetSMART continuaremos enfocados en cumplir los requisitos de nuestro proceso de certificación trabajando de cerca con la Aeronáutica Civil, quienes se han desempeñado con el más alto nivel de profesionalismo. De esta manera, esperamos obtener nuestro permiso de Operador Aéreo en Colombia, con miras a iniciar la operación lo antes posible y poder así participar del proceso de reasignación de slots en el Aeropuerto El Dorado”, señaló Estuardo Ortíz.

El Presidente de JetSMART Airlines Group sostuvo que el objetivo de la aerolínea chilena será “aportar y sumar al desarrollo, el turismo y el empleo” en Colombia por medio de su modelo de bajo costo denominado JetSMART Airlines Colombia que incluye rutas directas entre ciudades secundarias, una flota de aviones nuevos y precios accesibles. La aerolínea aérea chilena permanece a la espera de que la Aeronáutica Civil Aerocivil les otorgue el permiso para operar veintisiete rutas domésticas en Colombia, entre las que se encuentran Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, Cali, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Bucaramanga, San Andrés, Pereira, Montería, Cúcuta, Pasto y Pereira.
