TAP vuelve rentabilidad tras seis años de pérdidas

El Gobierno de Portugal ha tenido que inyectar entre 2020-2021 un total de € 1.600 millones de Euros en concepto de asistencia económica a la aerolínea portuguesa TAP Portugal. Precisamente cuando los escándalos azotan a la aerolínea pública de Portugal, exactamente cuando el gobierno ha obligado a la Directora General y al Presidente a marcharse, la gestión empieza a dar resultados y TAP Portugal ha anunciado que, por primera vez desde 2017, ha dado beneficios, generando € 21 millones de ganancias.

Las pérdidas generadas en 2022 alcanzaron los € 65,6 millones de Euros que arrojó la compañía en 2022. Este año la aerolínea facturó € 3.500 millones de Euros. Christine Ourmières Widener, la Directora General en funciones, dijo que “la implementación del plan de reestructuración aplicado este año en su totalidad ha generado beneficios operativos que son los mayores de la compañía”.

Actualmente, la aerolínea está en una extraña crisis política, al haber pagado una indemnización improcedente de medio millón de Euros a una ejecutiva que había sido fichada como nueva Directora del Tesoro del Gobierno. La salida voluntaria de la funcionaria no debería haber conllevado indemnización, señaló la inspección pública del estado, por lo que el Gobierno pidió el cese de Cristine Ourmières, quien sigue en funciones hasta la incorporación de un nuevo Director General.

La aerolínea, privatizada hace unos años, fue nuevamente nacionalizada en 2020 y ahora pretende ser otra vez vendida. Los tres grandes grupos europeos, IAG, Air France-KLM Group y Lufthansa Group han manifestado su interés por arribar a un acuerdo para controlar la aerolínea nacional portuguesa.

The airline, privatized a few years ago, was again nationalized in 2020 and now intends to be sold again. The three large European groups, IAG, Air France-KLM Group and Lufthansa Group have expressed interest in arriving at an agreement to control the Portuguese national airline.
