Norwegian Air Argentina starts ops
Norwegian Air Argentina started its operations in Argentina
The new airline of Argentina known as Norwegian Air Argentina is a new low cost that started operations in the era the «Aircraft Revolution». The new foreign capital airline is piloted by CEO Ole Christian Melhus under Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA of Norway.
The initial operations of the airline Norwwegian Air Argentina began today Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from Jorge Newbery Airport in Buenos Aires showing a challenge as a low cost airline to present competitiveness in many routes. The company already connects Aeroparque with Córdoba and Mendoza, and before the end of the year it will also reach Salta, Neuquén and Bariloche.
Inaugural flight
The first inaugural flight of the company aboard the Boeing 737-800 with registration LV-HQH, started the first commercial route linking Buenos Aires-Córdoba. The check-in started after 6:00 am fast and very organized, at counters 61 to 63, in the central hall of Aeroparque. At 07:00 sharp the embarkation began, and at 07:40 hours, the 123 passengers and the crew decorated the first inaugural flight with a Boeing 737-800, named «Astor» in homage to Astor Piazzolla, whose image stands out in the drift of the aircraft joining the first destination with the Ing. Ambrosio Tarabella Airport, of the Province of Córdoba.
Being the inaugural flight, the plane was under the command of Captain Ole Christian Melhus, an experienced Norwegian pilot who settled a little over a year ago to become the CEO of Norwegian Argentina, and the company’s first Argentine pilot, Edgar Boese. Romina was responsible for the on-board service. The parent company owns one of the most modern fleets in the world, with an average age of just over three years.
The first Boeing 737
The Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft with license plate LV-HQH has a configuration of 189 seats, in dark gray with details in red, like all that Norwegian will operate: expect two more to arrive next month, a quarter in December, and reach 10 or 12 planes by the end of 2019, and 35 a year later and no less than 70 aircraft when it is in full operation. A very ambitious bet, which starts with the cabotage market but will soon be extended to international flights.
Norwegian Air Argentina began connecting Buenos Aires with Córdoba and Mendoza. The new low cost plans to connect other destinations before the end of the year 2018 to Iguazú, Neuquén, Salta and Bariloche.
Service on board
The low cost model allows access to a very accessible ticket price, but both the menu and the baggage loading services and seat assignments among other details vary between cost carriers. Norwegian is a low cost / low price airline so the menu on board is reduced by getting a drink and an alfajor. Although the service on board will have an extra cost for those passengers who wish a more complete menu according to each assigned route, they may request it with an extra charge. There will be dried and fresh products, French fries, egg or salmon bagel and fruit salad.
COCKPIT BOEING 737-800 OF NORWEGIAN AIR ARGENTINA
The price of the air ticket does not include the payment of baggage in the hold. Norwegian will offer free Wi-Fi on all its flights, said Matías Maciel, Communications Director of the company.
The inaugural flight was piloted by Captain Melhus who gave a gift to the first passenger who went through Norwegian check-in: a box with a plane to scale. Then the bandoneonist Lautaro Greco played Adiós Nonino on board, another tribute to Astor Piazzolla.
A dream come true
«Today is a very special day for many of us; a dream come true», said Ole Christian Melhus in a brief act at the airport in Cordoba, after the applause for the first landing and the water baptism rigor.
For his part, the owner of the Córdoba Tourism Agency, Julio Bañuelos, said that Cordoba Airport has become the most important in the interior of the country, and the Minister of Industry of the province, Roberto Avalle, welcomed the company. On the other hand, the Secretary of Tourism of the Nation, Gustavo Santos, emphasized the creation of genuine employment among the Argentines, and particularly among the Cordoban people, that the company generates.
Back in Aeroparque, the welcome was in charge of the Minister of Transportation of the nation, Guillermo Dietrich, who said that in the past two years three new companies have joined the airline market: Avianca, Flybondi and now Norwegian Air Argentina. He stressed that Norwegian is one of the fastest growing companies in the world and that it won the prize for the best low cost in Europe for six consecutive years, has revolutionized the intercontinental low cost market and generates hundreds of jobs for Argentines.
Guillermo Dietrich, affirmed: «It is a historic day for the Aircraft Revolution. One of the largest airlines in the world that came to invest and to give employment joins our air transport, which decided to bet on us. He trusted our pilots, cabin crew and mechanics. He chose to connect our cities. He trusted the Argentines. And from today many more people are going to be able to fly; the airplane ceased to be synonymous with privilege».
The Secretary of Tourism of the Nation, Gustavo Santos, said: «The new flights of Norwegian that will unite Buenos Aires with Córdoba and Mendoza represent another step forward of that revolution that is bringing us closer to the world. It is important to note that the arrival of a flight to destination sets in motion a productive mechanism that generates genuine and sustainable jobs in hotels, gastronomy, transportation and a series of items directly and indirectly linked to tourism».
«Norwegian aims to connect Argentina with the world and bring the world closer to Argentina. Our ambition here is the same as in all the markets where we operate: making travel more accessible and available to new travelers, offering greater choice and contributing to economic growth», said Ole Christian Melhus, President of the subsidiary Norwegian in Argentina.

Strike in Fokker Papendrecht
Fokker Papendrecht goes through difficulties due to the strike of the staff
Fokker employees in Papendrecht have left work on Monday. At 07:00 hours, the first team of about a hundred employees went on strike. The 450 production employees work in the company and the production is currently almost silent. It is the fifth time in a short time that the staff ceases.
The strike at Fokker is part of a long series of actions, in which thousands of metalworkers participate alternately in the Netherlands. The unions demand an annual salary increase of 3.5% and measures that allow a better combination of work and private life.
The FNV union expects the production to stop due to the strike. In the metallurgical sector, strikes have taken place in innumerable companies for months. In Fokker in Papendrecht, for example, it is now the fifth strike. Events are also taking place in other companies in the country. The strikers compete for an annual wage increase of 3.5%. FNV also wants to put an end to the flexibilization that has been achieved in metal companies.
«Employees are not fooled. If Fokker management really wants a good collective work agreement for its employees, then Fokker would have to defend them by lobbying the negotiating delegation of metal employers», says Trade Union Manager Jan Meeder. A\W

IndiGo studies orders of widebodies
IndiGo plans orders for large aircraft to Airbus and Boeing
The Indian airline IndiGo has contacted the largest aircraft manufacturers to align orders of widebodies aircraft. IndiGo has said that it plans to incorporate large aircraft to Airbus and Boeing in the medium term, but the market scenario of difficult conditions in the short term means that the low cost airline is cautious about the large order it wishes to entrust.
The low cost airline that owns InterGlobe Aviation, faces fierce competition in the Indian market, which is so sensitive to prices, where airlines are struggling to remain profitable despite covering 90% of their seats and a demand that It grows continuously.
International market study
«The wide-body aircraft are an aspiration, we have talked to the manufacturers, we are studying the A330NEO and the Boeing 787», said Willy Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer. IndiGo, India’s largest low-cost carrier by market share, announced direct flights, starting Monday from two cities in southern India, Kochi and Kozhikode, to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. In the Gulf, the airline has direct flights to Dubai and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, as well as to Doha and Muscat. Flights to Kuwait will be launched this week, to Saudi Arabia in November and to Hong Kong in December, Boulter said.
In early 2019, IndiGo plans to start flights to London with an Airbus A321 aircraft that stops at a midpoint that has not yet been selected, he said. Other international destinations for the launch include Kuala Lumpur and Phuket, Thailand, in November.
IndiGo is working closely with the government of India to take advantage of the opportunities of bilateral agreements where travel rights will be available to other markets and has requested liberty rights to fly in Europe and Asia.
IndiGo has a fleet of 192 aircraft and more than 400 aircraft in order. The first batch of Airbus A321NEO aircraft with 222 seats will be delivered next November 2018. A \ W

The seats and the challenge of flying
The seat industry are increasingly reduced
Americans tend to weigh more and airline seats tend to shrink. So confrontations between passengers of large airlines and their fellow travelers are inevitable.
The average American man weighs 15 pounds more than 20 years ago, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The average American woman weighs 16.2 pounds more. The average passage of the seats, an approximate measure of legroom, has dropped from 35 inches in the 1970s to about 31 inches today. And the average width has been reduced from 18 inches to around 16.5 inches. Airlines are more sensitive than ever to territorial skirmishes. But air travelers have also developed their own tricks. They could avoid being squeezed on your next trip.
Matter of weight
What do airlines do with large passengers? The passengers of large airlines are divided into two broad categories. Some travelers do not fit in the seats due to their hip size. Others are too tall to enter a economy-class seat with limited legroom. Those that generate the most complaints, perhaps unfairly, are those that extend to the next seat. That’s what happened to Sam Cristol, 73 years old. He found himself sitting next to a 6-foot 7,500-pound passenger on a JetBlue flight of 05:50 hours from Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco. Cristol, is a food broker from Lake Worth, Florida. «The passenger next to me occupied half of my seat, my other half was in the aisle, while I had to hold on to the seat in front of me». Cristol complained to JetBlue, who apologized for the inconvenience. I checked with JetBlue about his flight and offered him a $ 100 coupon for him and the lineman, which was an interesting solution. JetBlue offers seatbelt extenders for large airline passengers on its site, but otherwise does not say anything about its size passenger policy. Other airlines require large travelers to buy two seats.
The crew members try to fix these confrontations on board before takeoff. For example, a flight attendant would have tried to seat a passenger like Cristol again. But unfortunately, it was a completely complete flight. He could also have asked to swap seats with a smaller passenger, but that was not an option either.
What do the passengers do with respect to the passengers of large airlines? A little kindness will probably take you away, says Casey Gardonio-Foat, owner of a small St. Louis business. «Have empathy for the greatest person», she says. «Remember, they are probably more uncomfortable than you, because of the reduction in airline seats and the bias and the routinely horrible treatment of the older people in American society».
Suzanne Dixon, a dietitian in Portland, Oregon, agrees that being nice can make the trip easier to survive. «When I’m sitting next to a large passenger, I greet them with a smile», she says. «No matter how much of a squeeze, a positive attitude and without prejudice is important».
An educated request can help, too. On the last flight of Stacy Caprio, her seatmate took charge of her armrest and invaded her personal space. «I asked him: ‘Could we, please, keep each of our arms in our own seats?'» Says Caprio, who works for a Canadian coupon website. «He growled, but then he obeyed, which made the flight so much more pleasant for me».
Ken Friedlander was so concerned about the passengers that they fall into the space of someone else who invented something to fix it. It is a partition called Create-A-Space (createaspace.net) that is pushed against your armrest, clearly delimiting your personal room. «I discovered that coming prepared with something that helps to share the armrest really makes a difference», he says. «Airlines have forced me to make this a part of good travel planning».
Jen Lowe shared one of the smartest techniques I’ve heard, although it’s not necessarily one I would recommend. She told me the story of a «super intrusive» seatmate on a recent flight who refused to move. A \ W
