Argentina recovers pre-Covid levels

Air transport is recovered and exceeds pre-pandemics figures

The air market in the Argentine Republic has reached during January 2023 exceeding pre-pandemic levels reaching the figure of almost 2.5 million passengers on domestic flights highlighting Aerolíneas Argentinas that has transported 11% more than in January 2020.

The Ministry of Transportation of the Nation, in charge of Diego Giuliano, has reported that a total of 2,492,116 of people traveled on cabotage flights through different parts of Argentina during 01/2023. This represents a record in the season, enhances internal tourism and strengthens air connectivity. In addition, the numbers of this first month show a recovery of the aerocomercial sector exceeding the pre-pandemic figures, since in January 2020 2,463,962 passengers traveled. Diego Giuliano said: “When we work to connect the country in a truly federal way, with concrete actions, the results are seen. Everything else is in symbolic and poetic issues that have no impact on people’s economy. We want transportation to be at the service of the economic development of Argentina and its people. The figures today demonstrate what we have been saying for years: we did not stop despite pandemic to strengthen the development of regional economies. Tourism is one of the great engines that moves hotels, restaurants, fairs and today we see passenger and passenger record by plane, in cruises arriving, in the long distance trains. It is no coincidence, it is the result of a management and a transportation plan of transport that began in 2019 and that is paying off”.

As for international flights, 1,085,853 passengers were registered. It represents a recovery compared to January 2022, reaching almost half of passengers in 526,284. The recovery prior to the beginning of the pandemic stands out, since in January 2020 he has developed a traffic of 1,174,495 international passengers. Regarding the performance of Aerolíneas Argentinas in January 2023, it is noted that the flag airline transported more than 1 million passengers to national and international destinations. To reach the figure, he made a total of 250 daily takeoffs which means more than 33,000 passengers per day with new routes such as Merlo and special summer flights to Mar del Plata from Córdoba, Mendoza, Rosario and Tucumán. Similarly, he reinforced his flights to Bariloche, El Calafate, Neuquén, Puerto Madryn, Iguazú and Salta, among other destinations. Aerolíneas Argentinas transported 11% more in the domestic market than in the last prepandemics season on cabotage flights, registering at 01/2023 a total of 9,761 flights, being the ten most chosen destinations Córdoba, Bariloche, Ushuaia, El Calafate, Mendoza, Iguazú, Salta, Mar del Plata, Neuquén and Río de Janeiro. The perspective of Aerolíneas Argentinas for the rest of 2023 projects to overcome the historical brand of 13,000,000 passengers transported, add new fleet and continue expanding its network of 38 national destinations, 48 interprovincial routes and 21 international destinations.

The numbers of the airlines in the Argentine market have reached the figures with 63% Aerolíneas Argentinas, Flybondi airlines with 20% and JetSMART Airlines Argentina with 15% market share and a 2% remaining from other domestic air lines. Flybondi reached a traffic of 272,106, while JetSMART has transported 206,122 in the cabotage sector. The Argentine low cost have considerably increased their operations in the 2022-2023 season incorporating more aircraft and increasing passenger traffic compared to the same season period 2021-2022.

Greater Bay Airlines would order 15 Boeing 737-9 MAX

Greater Bay Airlines of Hong Kong is close to selecting an order from fifteen Boeing 737-9 MAX (15) that will allow you to expand its operations. The order would be framed in a victory for The Boeing Company against the European Constructor Airbus Group and in the middle of the diplomatic crisis between the United States and China.

Greater Bay Airlines Company Limited, is a low-cost airline based in Hong Kong established as Donghai Airlines in 2010, and renamed in July 2020 as Greater Bay Airlines. The company’s opening flight was held in July 2022. The airline would aim to develop as an important and long-term partner for the American product. The airline is looking to select the Boeing 737-9 MAX as the spine of the airline fleet.

If the next order progresses, the airline could reach its first deliveries towards mid 2024. The aircraft have an estimated unit value of US$ 52.3 million, while the cost value of the order would reach approximately US$ 785 million at the list price.

The pulse between Airbus and Boeing seems to lean towards the American factory after evaluating the operating costs weighing among the options, considering that its fleet is made up of three Boeing 737-800 Next Generation (3). The new fourth generation aircraft will allow the airline to begin to expand its operations as soon as it receives its first units. In addition, it will save fuel, reduce carbon footprint and reach higher gain margins.

Mitsubishi cancela programa SpaceJet

AW | 2023 02 08 19:27 | INDUSTRY

Mitsubishi Aerospace has announced that the commercial aviation development program called SpaceJet, the dream of taking off the Japanese national plane. After years of delays, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries owner of the group admits that building the first Japan’s own harvest passenger plane was too difficult and probably unfeasible. The effort to restore the Japan airplane manufacturing industry came to an end on February 7, 2023 with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announcing that he leaves his regional Jet project.

Japan has abandoned plans to build its first passenger plane of its own after years of technical setbacks and rising costs. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has said that the public-private project will cancel a decade after the plane had been supposed to enter commercial service. The company said the regional plane, which suffered repeated delivery delays and technical failures, «had not confirmed sufficient commercial viability». The Bimotor plane, designed to transport less than 100 passengers, with two varieties known as MA90 and MA70 were intended for the regional segment that would open a new chapter in the Civil Aviation sector of Japan after the legendary NAMC YS-11 Turboprop.

The Mitsubishi Regional Jet project has been in development since 2002, when the Ministry of Industry first presented the idea of building a compact and ecological passenger plane. In 2008, Mitsubishi Heavy launched Mitsubishi Aircraft in Nagoya after accepting the project. From the Namc YS-11 Turbohélice of Nihon Aircraft Manufacturing, which had stopped production in 1974, the development of Mitsubishi Spacejet effectively marked the first national effort to make a commercial plane. Under the name of Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ), suffered repeated setbacks and retracted its launch in 2013. The company was having problems certifying in the United States and had to make many modifications, which caused the delivery date to be postponed. The MA90 SpaceJet program was suspended in October 2020 after more failures and a dramatic fall in the demand for new aircraft during the Coronavirus pandemic. Some test flights were aborted due to air conditioning defects and other software problems, and delays meant that reviews were required to the original design. The public-private project of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has had investments of approximately ¥ 1 billion Yen/US $ 7.6 billion.

The president of the firm, Seiji Izumisawa, admitted that Mitsubishi Heavy lacked the Know-How to develop passenger airplanes: «We are no longer sure of its commercial viability», he told reporters. The company said in a statement that it had been difficult to obtain the necessary understanding and cooperation of global partners, and that more extensive financing was needed to approve the design of the plane. North American regulations, pilot scarcity and the need to find decarbonization solutions also contributed to the disappearance of the project. The decision would have no material impact on the company’s financial results.

The plane, renamed Spacejet in 2019, was supported by the Japanese Government and national companies, including Toyota. At one point I had attracted about 450 orders, including those of Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways, but many were canceled. Some experts said Mitsubishi Heavy had been too confident in his ability to build a passenger plane, having made combat airplanes during World War II.

Rusia implicancias derribo MH017

AW | 2023 02 08 15:18 | AIR INVESTIGATION / GOVERNMENT

Fuertes indicios Gobierno Rusia derribo vuelo MH-017

AW-70083667

Russia strong indications demolition MH017

Strong indications Russian government demolition flight MH-017

AW-JIT

The investigation finds strong signs that the administration of the Government of Vladimir Putin approved missiles in the demolition of the Boeing 777-200ER plane of the Malaysia Airlines MH-017 flight over the conflict area in Ukraine. An international team of researchers said on Wednesday 08/02 that he found strong indications that Vladimir Putin approved the supply of heavy anti -aircraft weapons to the Russian separatists of Ukraine who knocked down the MH17 flight of Malaysia Airlines in 2014 with a Russian missile. However, members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) said they had not enough evidence to process the Russian leader or any other suspect, and suspended their investigation of 8 and a half years on the demolition that killed the 298 people aboard the Boeing 777 that flew from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

The Russia Federation has always denied any participation in the demolition of flight MH-017 on eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014, and refused to cooperate with international research. Dutch prosecutors said there are strong indications that the Russian president decided to supply a BUK missile system, the weapon that demolished the MH17, to the pro-ruse separatists in Ukraine. «Although we talk about strong signs, the high ribbon of complete and conclusive evidence is not reached», said Dutch prosecutor Digna Van Boetzelaer, and added that, without Russian cooperation, «the investigation has reached its limit. All the clues are They have exhausted». He also said that, as head of state, Vladimir Putin would have a prosecution immunity in the Netherlands. The team reproduced a recording of an intercepted phone call in which they said that Vladimir Putin could be heard discussing the conflict in eastern Ukraine. «Are we disappointed? No, because we believe we go further than we had thought in 2014. Would you have liked to go further? Of course», said Andy Kraag from the Dutch police.

Van Boetzelaer said that, although the investigation was being suspended, the telephone lines would remain open for possible witnesses who still wanted to provide evidence. If that happens, the investigation could be reactivated.

Russian officials say that the decision to provide military support to the rebels during the summer of 2014 was in the hands of Vladimir Putin. The decision to provide weapons even postponed for a week «because there is only one who makes a decision the person who is currently at a summit in France», said the research team, citing a telephone conversation that referred to the President of Russia. Prosecutors said at that time, Vladimir Putin was in a commemoration of the «Day D» in France. The announcement of the investigation team occurs almost three months after a Dutch court condemned two Russians and a Ukrainian rebel for their role in the demolition of the plane. A Russian was acquitted by the court. None of the suspects appeared for the trial, and it is not clear if the three who were convicted of multiple murders will ever comply with their sentences.

The convictions and conclusion of the court that the Missile Tierra-Aire Buk came from a Russian military base were seen as a clear indication that Moscow had a role in the tragedy. Russia has always denied its participation. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused the Court in November 2022 of transferring to the pressure of Dutch, prosecutors and media politicians.

But the convictions of November 2022 argued that Moscow had general control in 2014 about the self -proclaimed Popular Republic of Donetsk, the separatist area of the East of Ukraine where the missile was launched. The Buk missile system came from the 53rd Brigade of Anti-aerial Missile bigness of the Russian Army, based in the city of Kursk.

The joint research team is composed of experts from the Netherlands, Australia, Malaysia, Belgium and Ukraine. He has continued to investigate the crew of the missile system that knocked down the plane and who ordered their deployment in Ukraine. In addition to the criminal trial that was held in the Netherlands, Dutch and Ukrainian governments are demanding Russia before the European Court of Human Rights for their alleged role in the demolition of MH17. The findings revealed on Wednesday 08/02 will probably strengthen the case in the Human Rights Court and could also be used by the prosecutors of the International Criminal Court who are investigating possible war crimes in Ukraine that date back to the beginning of the separatist conflict.

JetSMART interés por Viva Air

AW | 2023 02 08 14:18 | AIRLINES ALLIANCE

JetSMART interest in Viva Air

JetSMART will seek to acquire Colombiana Viva Air
Avianca opposition responds to competition

Chilean airline JetSMART Airlines announced on Tuesday 07/02 the interest of establishing negotiations to acquire 100% of the shares of the Viva Air Colombia airline. “We believe that a transaction between JetSMART and Viva Air will allow to maintain the ultra low cost in Colombia and thus continue to offer more routes to lower prices. We have a long-term vision to expand in South America and we are in a position to continue investing in our growth”, said the company’s CEO, Estuardo Ortiz. JetSMART Airlines Chile, part of Indigo Partners, the US investment fund that controls five other airlines, has the resources, capacity and experience to negotiate and close this movement agilely.

The entry of the Chilean firm would be transformed into direct competition of Avianca Airlines, who for months is trying to merge with Viva Air Colombia, but Colombian regulations have put obstacles to synergy. The civil aeronautics of Colombia (Aerocivil) has rejected the proposal of Unión Avianca-Viva Air. The proposed Avianca-Viva Air fusion would create the largest Holding in South America if approved, but faces the rejection of the Colombian Ultra Air.

Before the announcement of Jetsmart Group, Avianca responded to the decision of the Chilean airline through a statement, arguing that JetSMART’s statement of interest «is not a real option to solve the living crisis, both JetSMART and his second largest shareholder shareholder American Airlines operate in the Colombian market and therefore any transaction would require the same approvals that Avianca needs for integration with Viva Air».

The process of obtaining permits in which Avianca and Viva Air Colombia they have not even started until after six months until «after there is an agreement for JetSMART to acquire Viva Air, so this transaction could be subject, not only to approvals in Colombia, but also in the other markets in which they participate alive together with JetSMART and/or American Airlines, including countries such as Perú, Argentina, Chile and the United States. Neither Avianca, nor their shareholders, have received offers to transfer their economic participation in Viva».

Finally, Avianca harshly criticized the decision of the Chilean low cost that they consider that the declaration of interest «has as the sole objective to use a proposal, clearly unfeasible, to generate a distraction to the application for integration of Viva and Avianca».

JetSMART Airlines Colombia

The airline previously requested in November 2022 to open a new subsidiary in Colombia. The country’s civil aviation authority, however, decided to delay the approval of JetSMART Columbia until the airline could confirm that it has the ability to operate the 111 requested routes.

The commitment of the JetSMART Airlines Chile company is to expand its business in the region that currently maintains domestic operations in Chile, Peru and Argentina. “We believe in the potential of the Colombian market. Our alternative will result in the benefit of users, strengthening free competition in the sector and will promote tourism and connectivity in the country”, said Estuardo Ortíz.

JetSMART Airlines Group points to a tourist market, commerce and business, in addition to having a great exchange of residents with other Latin American countries. In the Executive’s opinion, it is essential to contribute to connectivity, not only between capitals. JetSMART is part of the airline portfolio of the American Indigo Partners Fund, which includes Frontier Airlines in the United States, Wizz Air in Hungary, Volaris Airlines in Mexico, Lynx in Canada and Cebu Pacific in the Philippines.

Boeing objetivos chinos pospuestos

AW | 2023 02 08 12:58 | GOVERNMENT / INDUSTRY

Boeing, Chinese postponed objectives

Boeing new scenario US-China diplomatic crisis

The new tensions generated between the United States and China shatter Boeing’s hope about future sales of commercial airplanes. After the incidents with a spy balloon of the People’s Republic of China and the demolition by the United States, they have generated a new distancing in the diplomatic relatives between the two countries. While the Russian war in Ukraine presents a more urgent foreign policy problem for President Biden and his advisors, they have repeatedly said that China is the greatest long-term challenge for American power, even when the two countries maintain solid commercial ties .

The episode of the spy balloon that developed in heaven over the United States last week and the increase in diplomatic tensions have underlined that. Many of the Democratic and Republican legislators present before the Senate’s Chamber have made the United States President Joe Biden to make important ads related to national security.

Union States meeting

In the speech developed on Tuesday 07/02 of the Union States Meeting, President Joe Biden did not specifically mention the alleged Chinese surveillance globe, referred to China’s efforts last week to threaten the sovereignty of the United States and He promised to protect the country, after the bipartisan pressure to publicly call Beijing for the incident.

Last week, the United States tracked what officials described as a Chinese recognition balloon on continental states, in what would be an aggressive act of compilation of intelligence on sensitive American security sites. After being seen on the Aleutian Islands of Alaska on January 28, 2023, the last balloon traveled over the state and then on Canada, arriving north from Idaho on January 31, 2023. From there it passed on sites of intercontinental ballistic missiles In Montana, before drifting to the southeast coast, where he was shot down on Saturday 04/02.

«Do not be wrong: as we make clear last week, if China threatens our sovereignty, we will act to protect our country. And let’s be clear: winning competition with China should unite everyone. We face serious challenges worldwide«. The president began shouting while emphasizing that his administration seeks competition with China, not the conflict. He added that bridges are being formed between the partners in the Pacific and those of the Atlantic. He then warned that «those who bet against the United States are learning how wrong they are».

U.S. NAVY SAILORS RECOVER A HIGH-ALTITUDE SURVEILLANCE BALLOON OFF | COAST OF MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. SUNDAY 01/05

Far oriental horizon

Relationships between China and the United States have deteriorated even more in recent days, and although the tension between countries is nothing new, every step down in relations between superpowers puts the world in an even more uncertain situation.

The Boeing Company owns around US$ 7,000 million in Boeing 737 MAX aircraft pending delivery to China. Boeing loses US$ 14,000 million in annual revenues due to lost sales in China with a sales potential of US$ 575,000 million. Boeing’s target market is currently 20% smaller due to political tensions. While Boeing could be losing long -term income, in the short term, it has not had significant sales to China for years.

The Chinese-American relationship, including the strengths and relative weaknesses of the countries and how that translates into the aerospace industry, Boeing would continue to lose an important market in the predictable future. Although China somehow still depends largely on Boeing products, the new diplomatic crisis throws more questions about the provocative attitudes of the China Government for winnow wasps’ nest to destroy a relationship that both countries need.

He is a researcher of the initiative for dialogue between the United States and China on global matters at Georgetown University.

SPY BALLON
A spy balloon is a package of solar sensors and panels that hang under a large helium balloon that collects intelligence. In this case, according to the pentagon, the globe also had propellers and a rudder that allowed him approximately 60,000 feet.

The type of collection that this system made depended on the on board sensor package. The American navy has recovered from the ocean where the globe landed. In general, it is expected that there will be a high resolution image system and a sensor to capture different types of communication signals.

The Pentagon has said that China made previous flight surveillance flights in the United States. Why was this time different? There are several reasons why this flight had no precedents. A lot of time passed over US territory and melted through areas where the United States has very sensitive military facilities. It was also carried out at a delicate moment in relations between the United States and China, just before the trip of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to Beijing. Finally, he had no precedents because the Americans could see him in heaven with the naked eye.

Why do you think China would use a suspicious surveillance technique that is so publicly visible to civilians?
This is an open question that nobody can answer at this time. It is very possible that the Popular Liberation Army of China has carried out this operation without coordinating it properly with the civil agencies of the Chinese government that could have objected. The reports indicate that China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs was completely in the dark when American diplomats approached last week to ask about the globe.

How will this incident affect relations between the United States and China, particularly after the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, delayed his first official trip to China? Do you think there was a connection between the time of your visit and the globe?
The Biden administration and the Chinese government are pointing out that they do not want this incident to derail the attempts since President Biden and President Xi Jinping met in Bali last November to put a floor under the descending trajectory of relations between the United States and China.

But skilled diplomacy will be needed to overcome this setback in relationships, particularly if the United States can publicly disseminate physical evidence of surveillance systems. This would be a deep shame for President XI and the Chinese government that could delay any attempt to reprogram the visit of Secretary Blinken to Beijing.

The moment of this surveillance mission is disconcerting and leads me to conclude that, although it is almost certain that President XI, who is also president of the Central Military Commission, has been informed about the General Collection Program, it is possible that no It has been informed of this particular mission.

Airbus anuncia O&D 01/2023

Airbus anuncia O&D para 01/2023

Airbus_Isologotype_svg

Airbus announces O&D 01/2023

Airbus announces O&D for 01/2023

Airbus Group has announced the corresponding orders & deliveries for January 2023. The deliveries of January 2023 have been twenty (20) units to fifteen (15) clients. January 2023 corresponds to thirty-seven (37) units.

Airbus deliveries fell in a third to twenty planes in January 2023, compared to thirty in the same month last year 2022, the company said Tuesday 02/02. The European aircraft manufacturer also said in a monthly operational update that sold 37 aircraft in January 2023, or a net total of 36 after the cancellation of an A320NEO. Detailed Airbus data showed that the cancellation came from Viva Air Colombia, a subsidiary of Irelandia Aviation. The new orders included a decision previously announced by Delta Air Lines to exercise options for twelve A220-300 (12) additional. The agreement of last week of a long dispute of painting and security with Qatar Airways, under which Airbus will restore 73 orders that he had revoked, is not yet reflected in the figures.

Although January 2023 is usually a slow month, the fall in deliveries occurs when Airbus decelerates the rhythm of planned production increases due in part to the limited availability of engines. «This represents a soft start for the year in terms of deliveries», said Jefferies Chloe Lemarie analyst in a note.

Last month that Airbus has embarked on a cautious strategy based on a delivery objective by 2023 that is probably not significantly above the 720 units originally scheduled for 2022.

Airbus finally went down and left that goal in 2022 when the supply chain and industrial pressures began to affect more than expected. He made 663 industrial deliveries for the year or 661 after an adjustment related to the sanctions to the Russia Federation.

Industry sources have said that the less deep recovery would allow Airbus’s supply chain, hindered by COVID, restart and prepare to catch up more reliable from the mid -decade. However, some analysts expect Airbus to grow solidly this year. Airbus must give its first forecasts for 2023 with its annual results on February 16, 2023.

Aeropuertos cierran en Türkiye y Siria

AW | 2023 02 07 15:11 | AIR TRAFFIC / AIRPORTS / GOVERNMENT

Airports close in Türkiye and Syria

Earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria affect air travel infrastructure

A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Tükiye and northern Syria during the early hours of Monday, February 6, 2023, causing total destruction and killing over 5,000 to date. The earthquake has also severely affected the region’s air transport infrastructure, causing extensive damage and causing the cancellation of many flights in Türkiye and throughout the region. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said 2,818 buildings had collapsed due to the double tremors, leaving more than 5,000 people injured. Syria’s Health Ministry said around 430 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured. Reporters from the region shared images and videos on social media of buildings that fell during the first quake and even more destroyed as a result of the second.

Aviation infrastructure

Travel infrastructure in the region has been devastated by the earthquakes, and several airports have temporarily ceased operations for safety reasons and to allow relief efforts to arrive.

Türkiye Hatay Airport/HTY reports suffered a major crack on its main runway that would inhibit takeoffs and landings. Adana Sakirpasa Airport/ADA and Gaziantep Oguzeli International Airport/GZT probably also sustained damage to terminals and other buildings. As a result, the local authorities closed the airports to all civilian flight services. Gaziantep and Hatay airports remained closed, along with Kahramanmaraş/KCM Airport, another airport in the region. Aftershocks from the earthquake also disrupted air traffic in the morning at Adana Sakirpasa Airport/ADA, also in the southeast of Türkiye. There, several aircraft were observed flying holding patterns due to the runway closure. Several other major airports in Türkiye also limited flights due to the natural disaster, including Istanbul Airport/IST, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport/SAW and Ankara-Esenboga Airport/ESB.

Data from FlightAware.com showed that the national flag carrier Turkish Airlines had canceled more than 260 flights and delayed another 360. The airlines currently canceled 70 flights for Tuesday 07/02, with more changes expected.

WHO

On February 6, 2023, a series of massive earthquakes struck south-eastern Türkiye, near the border with the Syrian Arab Republic. These and hundreds of aftershocks caused significant destruction on each side of the border, claiming thousands of lives in both countries and damaging or destroying essential infrastructure, including health facilities. These were some of the strongest earthquakes to hit the region in a century, prompting a global humanitarian response, including from the World Health Organization (WHO) and other United Nations partners, at the request of the Turkish government.

Türkiye is a Member State of the WHO European Region, and WHO/Europe and the WHO Country Office in Türkiye are supporting the response in partnership with WHO headquarters, the WHO Regional Office for the Mediterranean Oriental and the WHO Country Office in Syria.

WHO/Europe is working with the Turkish Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to identify and respond to critical health needs, both immediately after the disaster and in the long-term recovery phase. WHO is committed to supporting the Government and people of Türkiye, both now and in the future.

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) issued a statement on the tragedy: «The thoughts of the WTTC and its members are with those who have been affected by the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, which has claimed so many lives and devastated hundreds of families. We send our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of all those affected».

Declaración derechos pasajeros EEUU

AW | 2023 02 07 15:08 | AVIATION / GOVERNMENT

US passenger Rights Declaration

Users seek access to more responsible trips
Senators study Implement Air Transport Changes

A declaration of rights of airline passengers seeks to make flying feel more human. After the events generated towards the end of the year 2022 with the massive cancellations of the airlines, in space of Southwest Airlines, the users of air transport in the United States have been claiming for changes that allow to better manage the crises generated by inconveniences in the plane Internal airlines.

Southwest canceled more than 16,700 flights for several days at the end of December 2022, leaving thousands of travelers stranded for days. Now legislators are trying to hold the airlines responsible for interruptions and cancellations with a new declaration of rights of airline passengers.

After millions of Americans ruined their holiday plans, and even the itineraries of the beginning of January 2023, due to computer failures of airlines and serious climatic interruptions, a group of senators is moving to approve legislation that protects passengers. Massachusetts and Richard Blumenthal de Connecticut Democratic senators have presented a declaration of rights of airline passengers that would require the airlines to reimburse the tickets and compensate for passengers for the delays and cancellations caused by the airlines.

Aviation changes

Companies would be hooked for a minimum of US$ 1,350 to passengers who are denied shipping as a result of an overall flight (overbooking). They would also be responsible for compensation and reimbursements in case of delays and cancellations of flights caused by the airline. When suitcases are damaged or lost, airlines would have to pay immediate reimbursements in luggage rates.

«This legislation will ensure that travelers have the essential protections for the consumer they deserve. This legislation will establish clear and applicable rules so that the airlines follow them, putting consumers first and restoring sanity in the heavens. Southwest Airlines’s debacle is Only the last example of why we urgently need stronger protections for passengers, since air trips have become more stressful, unpredictable and uncomfortable for travelers», said Richard Blumenthal in a statement announcing the bill.

If approved, the package could also mean the end of the reduction in the size of the seats, at least until the Department of Transportation (DOT) implements a minimum seat size requirement. In addition, parents would not be charged extra for choosing to sit with their children on flights. Other consumer protections that seek to fly feel more human, would require airlines:
· Provide tickets and alternative transport for delayed flights between one and four hours.
· Provide tickets, alternative transport, compensation and cover the cost of food and accommodation (as appropriate) for delayed flights more than four hours.
· Do not use weather conditions as an excuse for delays and cancellations that are actually the fault of airlines.

Meanwhile, the DOT would have to account for the following:
· Explain why it has not imposed sanctions on airlines for violations of passenger rights.
· Institute a joint study with consumer groups on the viability of a system in which fines to airlines go directly to passengers.
· Eliminate the limit of the fines charged to airlines for violating consumer protection laws and preventing airlines from negotiating low fines for atrocious behavior.

The United States Senate Committee plans to hold audiences in the coming weeks on the recent collapse of the Southwest airline. Congress members also plan to investigate the interruption of the computer that caused the malfunction of the FAA computer system, which caused more than 10,000 flights to be delayed or canceled.

The response has not been expected from the leaders and industry groups expressed that with the last declaration of passenger rights, the aviation industry would be going back. Airlines For America (A4A), the commercial group that represents most of the country’s airlines, described myopic proposals, saying that «it would inevitably increase costs and reduce the options for the consumer. The federal government must focus on policies and procedures of the 21st century that promote the aviation system of our nation, instead of making efforts that threaten to reduce access and affordability for consumers», the group said in a statement.

Las Vegas estudia nuevo aeropuerto

AW | 2023 02 07 15:05 | AIRPORTS / GOVERNMENT

Las Vegas studies New Airport

Feasibility study for aerostación towards 2037

Vegas/Harry Reid/Airport/LAS approaches its maximum capacity of 65 million after number of passengers annually unprecedented. It is predicted that flights to the Harry Reid International Airport would reach its maximum capacity of around 65 million passengers in 2030. According to the Clark County Aviation Director, Rosemary Vassiliadis, approximately 53 million passengers used our airport in 2022.

Even with these unprecedented numbers, tourism authorities plan to continue increasing flights and stimulating the city’s economy. If the growth in tourism is not affected, Las Vegas airport will suffer delays in the airfield by the end of 2029, long before its supplementary is finished. Rosemary Vassiliadis told a local medium that together with administrators and interested parties they will do everything possible so that the supplementary airport project is still ongoing without delays.

The project for an supplementary airport in the Ivanpah Valley, near the border with the state of California, is analyzing its consideration of feasibility study. The early thing that the secondary airport could be in operation in this place would be in 2037. The reality is that Las Vegas airport is very successful and according to aviation advisors, the airport has been the one that most quickly recovered from restrictions from the restrictions of the Pandemia than any other in the United States.
