AW | 2017 03 15 17:07 | AIRLINES

Low-cost model and airfares

The low cost model will start to run from tomorrow. The company will offer to the market two new rates called «Light» and «Plus» and the prices of the additional services that customers will be able to contract, according to their own needs.

The «Light» fare is a service with an ultra low price ticket and another differential fare with additional services or «Plus», in addition to the implementation of a la carte services such as luggage in the cellar and seats, simplifying the collection for sports luggage , Musical instruments, excess baggage and pets in cabin, among others.

With the implementation of these rates and additional services, Sky Airline expects an increase in its flights. The price of air fares will decrease on average by 30% in the Chilean market.

With the «Light» or «Plus» fare, the customer will always be able to add services to his «a la carte» trip as extra luggage or other at different times of the trip at prices that reward the anticipation and preparation of the trip.

«Two years ago we proposed to be the first low cost airline in Chile and the Southern Cone and announced that we would offer airfare at bus prices. Today, we can say that we not only live up to our word but we are sure to have revolutionized the aeronautics industry with prices even lower than the buses, allowing more and more people to fly», said the sales manager by SKY, Jaime Fernández. AW | 2017 03 06 19:13 | AIRLINES

Asimsimo, said that the goal will be achieved by strengthening the state-owned company Aerolíneas Argentinas, attracting new companies and improving airport infrastructure.

Later, at a press conference, Cabinet Chief Marcos Peña and Transport Ministers Guillermo Dietrich and Tourism Gustavo Santos reported on the backwardness of the National Government in awarding air routes to the Avianca company, which in 2016 acquired the Firm Macair Jet, of the economic group of Franco Macri. They pointed out that it was by decision of President Macri and will await the issuance of Justice so that it does not represent a conflict of interests.

On the other hand, as for the company Fly Bondi, Dietrich noted that he was waiting for the technical documentation to be concluded and at the same time informed the approval of air routes for American Jet, Andes and Alas del Sur companies.

It is worth remembering that the President added a charge against him for the award of air routes to the company Avianca, which in 2016 acquired Macair Jet, owned by the economic group led by Franco Macri.

The head of the Federal Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor No. 1, Jorge Di Lello, prosecuted the President; The owner of the SIDECO group, Franco Macri; The Secretary General of the Presidency, Fernando De Andreis; And responsible for the airline Avianca, for the possible commission of crimes of illicit association, incompatible negotiations, fraud against the public administration and traffic of influences in the framework of alleged irregularities linked to the exploitation of Argentine airspace.

The file was initiated by a complaint from the national deputies Rodolfo Tailhade and Juan Cabandié. In their presentation, lawmakers pointed out as the main axis of the questioning the recent sale of the company «Macair Jet» – from the economic group led by Franco Macri – to the Colombian firm «Avianca» and the possible contracting of the National State with that company. Batalla legal entre accionistas Avianca

https://i0.wp.com/dataifx.com/sites/default/files/avianca_1.jpg

AW | 2017 03 03 11:00 | AIRLINES

Kriete v.

Legal battle between Avianca shareholders

Kriete v. Efromovich: Avianca shareholders file legal battle for alliance with United Airlines

Salvadoran shareholders of Avianca, the Kriete family, have filed a lawsuit against the main owner of the company Germain Efromovich, his brother José and against United Airlanes. Salvadoran lawyers filed legal action before the Supreme Court of New York, United States.

Avianca is the second largest airline in Latin America. The Kriete hold 21.9% of the voting shares in Avianca. The remaining 78.1% belongs to Synergy, a business group controlled by German Efromovich.

«Germán Efromovich has secretly negotiated a self-profiting agreement with United Airlines to divert hundreds of millions of dollars from Avianca and its shareholders in order to avoid a personal financial disaster,» the plaintiffs maintain in a press release released on 27 February.

On February 1, Synergy (the Efromovich business group) announced that it would negotiate with United a long-term strategic-commercial alliance with Avianca, which includes a possible capitalization of up to USD 200 million for Avianca. Salvadoran shareholders believe the deal benefits the Efromovich brothers and is «detrimental to Avianca and the rest of its shareholders.»

According to the American media The New York Times the Kriete family and the Efromovich have suffered differences for several years. «When he was asked by Efromovich about his relationship with Kriete, he called him a good partner and ‘a man experienced in the industry’,» said the media, citing people who have direct knowledge of the company but who were not authorized to Speak publicly.

Avianca, as it is known today, was created in 2010 after the merger of Avianca and Taca airlines and in 2013 the company was made public by issuing shares for USD $ 2 billion. The Times added that «not long after the public offering, the relationship between the Efromovich brothers and Kriete was complicated. Efromovich put Avianca in deals with other of his business interests, which are known as ‘transactions between related parties’. «

«However, shareholders found that the transactions were a waste and accused Efromovich of supporting some of his other business to the detriment of the airline,» the New York Times reported.

Details of the claim Kriete versus Efromovich

The lawsuit explains that in early 2016 Avianca shareholders sought an alliance «with a world-class airline to strengthen its ability to operate in an increasingly competitive market.»

The lawsuit explains that «while Avianca’s legal and financial advisors were negotiating with airline A and airline B, even commenting on draft definitive agreements, Efromovich took steps to prevent negotiations, even canceling meetings and issuing contradictory statements on his willingness to sell, » and that «at the end of the board meeting [directive] of January 31, 2017, Efromovich for the first time revealed that he had secretly negotiated the transaction with United.»

The plaintiffs think that the deal that Efromovich has agreed with United favors its Synergy business group, but it harms the interests of the other Avianca shareholders and the company as such.

For the plaintiffs Avianca’s majority shareholders violated US laws. By agreeing to a merger with United Airlines without the consent of its minority partners, so that Salvadoran shareholders (owners of 21.9% of Avianca shares, therefore, entitled to vote) have the legal right to «Consent or veto» key company decisions, such as the contested alliance with United Airlines.

«Avianca and its subsidiaries are prohibited from taking certain actions (‘Special Approval Issues’) without the consent of Kingsland,» said the complaint, citing clauses of the agreement, which Avianca entered the New York Stock Exchange York. «The transaction was structured as a merger of equals, providing Kingsland with substantial corporate governance rights,» the lawsuit said.

The businessman Roberto Kriete said yesterday that «the business with United is against the interests of Avianca and is just the latest example of how on many occasions the majority shareholder has extracted value from the company to divert it to his other projects at the expense of Other shareholders who have a fiduciary duty.»

Germán Efromovich told the Colombian daily El Tiempo that «They [Kriete] resorted to these actions because they were diluting the participation of the Kriete family and also because of a problem of pride, because many years ago we offered the merger of the two Free Aviancas to Mr. Roberto Kriete, and he did not want to».

With regard to the place where the application was filed, the document explains that:

«The Court has jurisdiction over Avianca based on its ongoing and systematic course of doing business in New York.» «Avianca does business transactions in the United States through its US-based subsidiary, Avianca Inc. Avianca is registered in the database of the Division of Corporations of the State Department of New York.»

The Joint Action Agreement between the two groups of shareholders was signed in New York City. A\W

SriLankan Airlines receives first A320NEO

SriLankan Airlines has taken delivery of the first of six Airbus A320NEO/321NEO family aircraft, which will be used to expand services to Asia and the Middle East.

The Sri Lankan flag carrier has six Airbus neo family aircraft on order. It will take delivery of its second A320NEO in April, two A321neos in the second quarter, one A321NEO in the fourth quarter and the final A321neo in the first quarter of 2018.

SriLankan’s A320NEO is configured for 150 passengers in a two-class cabin layout with 12 business-class seats and 138 economy-class seats. It is powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines. The aircraft will deployed on the airline’s expanding route network connecting Colombo with destinations in India, Middle East and Far East.

SriLankan Airlines chairman Ajith Dias said: “Our airline realigned its strategic focus during the last quarter of 2016 to capitalize on market opportunities in the rapidly growing travel and tourism industry in Asia, which included the launch of services to 11 new destinations throughout the Indian Ocean and Middle East regions. The arrival of the A320neo and A321neo aircraft will better align our fleet to this objective, as these aircraft are more suited to our medium-haul operations, while we already possess an excellent fleet of A330 aircraft for our long-haul routes.” A\W

TAP retorna a beneficios en 2016

Resultado de imagen para TAP Portugal

AW | 2017 03 01 13:32 | AIRLINES

TAP returns to profits in 2016

Portuguese airline TAP returns to profits in 2016 by winning 34 million

Portuguese airline TAP posted a profit of 34 million euros in 2016 compared to losses a year earlier, an achievement based on the strong investment of its new shareholders, the expansion of the North American market and the opening of the Lisbon-Oporto air bridge.

The past year is therefore the «return of the company to profits», as the company itself said in a statement, after closing 2015 with losses of 99 million euros (115%) due to the retention of sales in Venezuela.

The recovery was possible despite the fall in revenues, which amounted to 2,242 million euros, 156 less than a year earlier.

However, this reduction was «heavily compensated,» TAP says, «for an even more significant reduction in operating costs, which stood at € 2,042 million,» 227 million less than in 2015.

The company highlighted the capital injection of the new shareholders, the private consortium Gateway, which allowed for «heavy investments» such as the complete renovation of the regional fleet or the start of the Lisbon-Oporto air bridge.

Last year, the airline launched a new pricing structure to compete with low-cost airlines, «which allowed the company to regain market share,» and on the other hand began an expansion plan in North America.

These are new routes to Boston and New York’s JKF airport, plus the increase in existing flights with Newark, New Jersey, and Miami.

All these changes led to a readjustment of the airline’s offer during the first half of the year, which translated into a «strong recovery» in the second half of the year, obtaining «successive historical records on the number of passengers transported» in the last three months of 2016.

In all, says TAP, last year it transported «a record number of passengers, 11.7 million, 400,000 more than in 2015», although in 2016 the company «reduced by 3% its supply of seats.»

Currently, the Portuguese state owns 50% of TAP, while the Gateway consortium, made up of Portuguese entrepreneur Humberto Pedrosa (one of the country’s biggest fortunes) and Brazilian-American David Neeleman (owner of the airline Azul ), Has a 45% stake. Meanwhile, the remaining 5% is reserved for group workers. A\W

Justice investigates irregularities in Avianca Argentina

Prosecutor asks Macri to investigate for award of air routes to Avianca

An Argentine prosecutor has sought to investigate President Mauricio Macri, his father, government officials, members of the Avianca airline and businessmen from the aeronautical sector for possible crimes in the adjudication of air routes, judicial sources said.

The head of the Federal Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No. 1, Jorge Di Lello, prosecuted the criminal action «for possible commission of crimes of illicit association, incompatible negotiations, fraud against public administration and influence peddling in the framework of alleged irregularities Linked to the exploitation of Argentine airspace «.

According to the Argentine Public Prosecutor’s Office, the alleged irregularities were alleged to have been committed in the State’s contracting with the Colombian company after it acquired in 2016 the airline «Macair Jet», owned by the economic conglomerate led by the father of the President, businessman Franco Macri.

The prosecutor asks federal judge Sergio Torres to clarify whether the government sought to benefit Avianca through the granting of routes within the framework of the process of opening the air market initiated by the Executive at the end of last year.

«On Monday 13, the A.N.A.C. (National Civil Aviation Administration, officialized the delivery of air routes to ‘Avian Líneas Aéreas’, through the opinions of the Advisory Board of Air Transport Public Hearing number 218, authorizing the concession for 15 years of all routes requested , In which Aerolineas Argentinas currently operates, «reads the text.

The file, which began after a denunciation of Kirchner legislators Rodolfo Tailhade and Juan Cabandié, also reaches the secretary general of the Presidency of the Nation Fernando De Andreis and the Minister of Transport, Guillermo Dietrich, among others.

On behalf of Avianca, Di Lello asks to investigate the owner of the group of companies that make up the airline, Germán Efromovich, the executive director of Avian Líneas Aéreas (Avianca parent), Carlos Benjamín Colunga López, and the holder of Unidos Air SA, Diego Martín Colunga López.

In the complaint, the plaintiffs pointed out as another conduct to investigate «that the national government stopped using the fleet of presidential aircraft – which carries the president’s travels and first line officials  for services of private companies», as detailed by the Office of the Prosecutor.
