Aerolíneas: for the CEO, the problem is management, not guilds

Dell’Acqua promised to lower subsidies by 50% and said the unions «accompany»

A review of what happened in January. Airplanes repletos in a maximum of occupation, punctuality record and several novelties in the commercialization of destinies. With these numbers was presented yesterday at a press conference Mario Dell’Acqua, the president of Aerolíneas Argentinas, who replaced Isela Costantini. It was in a dialogue in passing, that almost escaped him, when he left a sentence that will surely mark his way of managing. I was trying to explain that the company will not adjust, that it will fly more, that it will be more efficient and that it will improve its processes to stop depending on the State.

«Many times those plans clashed with the interests of the guilds,» reminded him this chronicler. «We have no problem with the guilds, they accompany us and we do not see that there is a wall to grow imposed by them,» he replied. «So if the problems are not the guilds should be the leadership of the company,» he was asked. «Yes. We believe that the airline’s problems are in its leadership and not in its guilds.» End of the dialogue.

It was perhaps the strongest phrase he said during his presentation. Dell’Acqua, who arrived at the airline after the conciliatory step of Isela Costantini with a patina of «strong man» tried to say a thousand times that there will be no adjustment in the company. But he did say that he plans to lower subsidies to 150 million dollars in the year, half of what, according to him, required the company in 2016.

He tried, of course, to demolish that suspicion that remained floating after the departure of Costantini. According to his opening remarks, he is confident that the market will draw so much that the company will find in the efficiency and intelligence of its decisions the recipe to leave the state dependence. It was not original in the matter. From Marsans until these days all the managers went through the same management vocations. No one, so far, has succeeded.

Transport Minister Guillermo Dietrich, sitting next to him in the talk, corroborated those sayings. «When we talked about a competition in the market as we started, it was always said that Aerolíneas would be harmed.» «This was due to the mistrust that had been in the previous administration», he said in reference to the passage of Mariano Recalde by the airline. «But now that decisions are made professionally, Aerolíneas has grown in a market that has also grown,» he said.

Dell’Acqua continued to dismember his recipe. He said that they believe that this year passengers are going to increase 12% and stressed that 41% of the company’s total sales are already done on the Internet, which generates a huge saving of commissions, since sales are direct.

Balances

He punctuated new services and corridors. He said that in April a hub in Córdoba will start operating and that flights from Rosario will increase. He said that the company was going to become strong in the schedules that they call AM and PM, that is, in the first hour of the day and in the late afternoon. He also highlighted a promotion that will be for travelers from the interior that fly from a city, although in their journey have to triangulate Buenos Aires. This is a discount of between 25 and 30% at current rates. With that promotion they believe that 500,000 more Argentines will climb to the planes. A\W

Suriname’s Fly All Ways to suspend scheduled regular ops

The airline reversed in January all its regular operations and evacuated rumors of bankruptcy of the airline of Suriname

Fly All Ways Airlines (8W, Paramaribo Int’l) will transition to a charter operator following the suspension of scheduled services with effect from January 15 onwards.

Airline chief executive officer (CEO) Amichand Jhauw said in a statement to the Surinamese press that during its downtime, the carrier will reconsider its business model as well as its operational base.

“Flights which originate from Paramaribo and then to Guyana and Barbados and Haiti are done on a scheduled basis twice weekly,» he said. «However, management is reviewing the possibility of moving its major hub from Suriname to Guyana. This way it [the airline] can easily operate and be positioned to offer non-scheduled charters and scheduled operations at a lower cost.”

Jhauw also blamed delays in accessing the Global Distribution System (GDS) for the need to suspend scheduled flights.

Launched in January 2016, Fly All Ways operates two Fokker 70s. Aside from charter flights, it also offered regular flights from Paramaribo Int’l to Georgetown Cheddi Jagan, Bridgetown, and Port au Prince. A\W

https://i0.wp.com/www.losandes.com.ar/files/image/15/07/image559b2cd713cca6.66376959.jpg

AW | 2017 02 01 11:30 | AIRLINES / SAFETY SECURITY

Gol Airplane with takeoff to the limit in Mendoza Airport

An aircraft of Gol Líneas Aéreas was filmed in the airport El Plumerillo, making a maneuver of takeoff with little margin. Authorities investigate case

On January 19 of this year, a Boeing 737 aircraft of the Gol Airlines took off to meet the flight that joins the capital of Mendoza with the city Sao Paulo in Brazil. Witnesses, who were on the verge of the National Route 40 filmed the takeoff, like any other that can be seen in said airport, but the surprise was great, when they saw that the airplane made a takeoff at least adjusted for the margins of security that Are expected in this type of maneuvers.

The aircraft «took flight» almost at the end of the runway, and overflew the roadway a few meters high, causing the fear of the drivers that were circulating there at that time.

The flight in question was G3 7487, operated, as indicated above, by Gol Líneas Aéreas. And that links Mendoza with Sao Paulo.

From the company they explained: «Gol Líneas Aéreas is studying the takeoff of flight G3 7487 from El Plumerillo International Airport to Guarulhos Airport, in São Paulo, Brazil, on January 19 in the afternoon. So far, none have been found Irregularity during take-off.It is also stated that the flight landed at its destination safely and without abnormalities on the way.The airline remarks that it follows the highest global safety standards, which are a priority in its management policy. «

The airport «El Plumerillo» of Mendoza: owns a track (unique) of 2785 meters of length (superior to the one of Aeroparque Jorge Newbery). A track length more than enough for a Boeing 737 to take off with wide margin.

Fact: The witnesses (with the eye accustomed to the place) indicate that they never saw an aircraft take off with such a small margin at the Mendoza airport, including from Gol Airlines itself. A\W

LATAM Airlines acata conciliación y vuela normalmente

Resultado de imagen para latam airlines aeroparque

AW | 2017 02 01 11:11 | AIRLINES

LATAM complies and flies normally

They dictate binding conciliation and Latam will function normally

The Ministry of Labor issued the obligatory conciliation before the announcement of the Association of Technical Aeronautical Personnel (APTA) of a cease of activities for 24 hours of the technical staff of the airline Latam. In this way, the activity of the company would not have modifications during the course of the day.

The guild that groups the technical staff had announced the measure of force in claim for non-compliance with wage agreements and other agreements reached, in addition to the cut of technical maintenance staff.

«We arrived at this measure by the breach of the agreement agreed in the parities plus the violations of the conventional points with the closing of several sectors of technical maintenance, which aggravates the situation,» said Jorge Alvarez, secretary general of APTA. «We are against the reduction of personnel and we consider that this does not accompany the growth of the company, beyond which more planes have entered the country,» said the unionist.

The wage default referred to by Álvarez is related to the way of payment of the peers: «We have reached an increase similar to that of other companies, but they will pay it with bonuses and in installments payment.» However, the union official said that the main reason for the complaint is the dump of maintenance technical staff. «We understand that the economic condition of the company is not good, but we do not believe that these are the measures that must be taken,» he said.

The strike was stipulated for 24 hours and was to be fulfilled from the zero hours of Wednesday today. As they had announced from APTA, it consisted in a cessation of activities of aeronautical technical personnel and dispatchers of aircraft of Latam Argentina. That way, the planes belonging to this airline would be paralyzed throughout the day.

Nevertheless, Álvarez had confirmed that the guild adhered to the obligatory conciliation and the call to negotiation by the Ministry of Labor. A\W

Andes incorpora aviones a su flota

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ae/MD-80_LV-AYD_de_Andes_Lineas_Aereas_(22060485668).jpg

AW | 2017 01 31 12:08 | AIRLINES

Andes incorporates airplanes to its fleet

At the beginning of February, Andes Líneas Aéreas will add to its fleet the sixth McDonnell Douglas, an MD-83 and new Boeing 737-800

The MD-83 is a former Austral Líneas Aéreas, with LV-BEG registration that was flying in the airline company Orange Air in the United States. The MD-83’s reinstatement to Argentina comes hand in hand with the incorporation of Andes Líneas Aéreas, which has four active MD-80’s and the fifth is undergoing a check-up.

On the other hand, Andes Líneas Aéreas will be incorporating its first two Boeing 737-800 in March, plus two other options mid-year. In this way, Andes initiates its first incorporations of the Boeing line to its fleet, expanding its operative capacity and extending its network of services.

The standardization of the fleet is oriented to a homogenization to the Boeing 737 aircraft, tending to the gradual deprogramming of the MD-80’s.

As for the air routes to be incorporated, Andes summarized the cities of Comodoro Rivadavia and Mendoza as soon as possible, and later added new cabotage destinations. A\W

Commemorate 5th anniversary of Spanair closure

Former Spanair workers mark fifth anniversary of airline closure

Some 20 Spanair employees gathered on Friday at an Algaida restaurant, just the fifth anniversary of the airline’s closure.

The last flight of the company took off on January 27, 2012. An event in which they have remembered that the disappearance of the airline «could have been avoided», explained Juan Bauzá, Spanair’s extrabajador. Between direct and indirect companies, almost 5,000 people remained in the street.

In a meeting of camaraderie, the old coworkers have been updated of their work situation. «There is everything,» says Bauza. A few were employed in other companies in Son Sant Joan as track personnel – loading and unloading. The less fortunate, who are the majority, «had to look for life outside in other sectors». Some are still unemployed and others have left the island to work in other communities or abroad.

Juan Bauzá says he still does not know the reasons for the airline’s departure. «The crash was the crash of the plane of Spanair» occurred on August 20, 2008, in which there were a total of 154 deaths and 18 survivors. Since that accident «everything changed». «We talked about financial reasons and the debt of the company, but everything was a lie.» Bauzá reinforces his thesis in «the construction of the terminal that was lifted in the airport of Barcelona exclusively for Spanair». In addition, it points to a company of Middle East that wanted to invest in the company, «but they did not leave to him to be external to the European Union».

On the other hand, the ex-employees «attend with concern to the dismantling of Son Sant Joan without the administration do anything». «There are already many companies that have left in recent years and in 2017 it seems that the same trend will continue without anyone from the Administration to remedy,» they point out. «Something that is provoking that there are less and fewer connections and the existing ones are increasingly expensive,» they say.
