Suriname’s Fly All Ways to suspend scheduled regular ops
The airline reversed in January all its regular operations and evacuated rumors of bankruptcy of the airline of Suriname
Fly All Ways Airlines (8W, Paramaribo Int’l) will transition to a charter operator following the suspension of scheduled services with effect from January 15 onwards.
Airline chief executive officer (CEO) Amichand Jhauw said in a statement to the Surinamese press that during its downtime, the carrier will reconsider its business model as well as its operational base.
“Flights which originate from Paramaribo and then to Guyana and Barbados and Haiti are done on a scheduled basis twice weekly,» he said. «However, management is reviewing the possibility of moving its major hub from Suriname to Guyana. This way it [the airline] can easily operate and be positioned to offer non-scheduled charters and scheduled operations at a lower cost.”
Jhauw also blamed delays in accessing the Global Distribution System (GDS) for the need to suspend scheduled flights.
Launched in January 2016, Fly All Ways operates two Fokker 70s. Aside from charter flights, it also offered regular flights from Paramaribo Int’l to Georgetown Cheddi Jagan, Bridgetown, and Port au Prince. A\W
