Aplicación Prohibición computadoras

Image result for arabian laptops cabin flightAW | 2019 12 16 08:37 | AVIATION SAFETY

The ban on laptops begins on Tuesday 17/12 on United States flights from the Middle East and Africa

Image result for Department of Homeland Security USNext Tuesday, December 17, 2019, in the cabins of nine airlines that fly nonstop to the United States from the Middle East and Africa will begin the prohibitions of laptops onboard in the airplane cabins. A new travel ban may mean that laptops, tablets and other large electronic devices must remain in checked luggage on nonstop flights to the US. from certain airports in the Middle East and Africa.

The United States Government has begun notifying nine foreign airlines in the Middle East and Africa at 3 am ET on Tuesday 17/12 that personal electronic devices larger than cell phones will be banned indefinitely in the cabins of approximately 50 direct flights daily to the United States.

The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, John Kelly, and the Acting Chief of the Transportation Security Administration, Huban Gowadia, decided that greater intelligence-based security was needed on airlines that fly nonstop from 10 airports to the States United four senior administration officials who talked to reporters about the background to discuss security measures. «The evaluated intelligence indicates that terrorists continue to attack commercial aviation and are aggressively seeking innovative methods to carry out their attacks, which include the smuggling of explosive devices in various consumer items», said a senior administration official.

The top Democrat on the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, Representative Adam Schiff of California, fully supported security precautions on Tuesday after receiving information about them over the weekend. «These steps are necessary and proportional to the threat. The global aviation system remains a primary objective and adequate security requires that we continually adapt our defenses», Schiff said.

The selected airlines will have 96 hours to ensure that passengers store all their tablets, electronic readers, DVD players, cameras, game units, travel printers and scanners, any electronic device larger than a cell phone, in checked luggage in place in hand luggage. Officials did not reveal why it was safer to have electronics in the hold than in the passenger cabin. If an airline ignores the restrictions, security officials will ask the Federal Aviation Administration to revoke the airline’s certificate to fly to the United States.

Officials from the Department of Homeland and State Security began notifying officials in affected countries about the impending restrictions on Sunday. The nine affected airlines are Royal Jordanian, Egypt Air, Turkish Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Kuwait Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Qatar Airways, Emirates Airline, and Etihad Airways.

Jonathan Grella, executive vice president of the US Travel Association, said the travel community supports making the flight safer. But the government should explain changes in policies as measures are reassessed, to ensure instead of suppressing travel, he said. «We urge the federal government to do everything possible to minimize disruptions to legitimate travelers by clearly and quickly articulating the details of the new policy to the enforcement staff and the flying public», said Grella.

The 10 international airports where these airlines fly directly to the US They are Queen Alia in Jordan, Cairo in Egypt, Ataturk in Turkey, King Abdulaziz and King Khalid in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Mohamed V in Morocco, Doha in Qatar and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. «The effort was not specifically focused on one place or country. It is really addressing the threat and how we perceive the threat, and what we are doing is what we believe is right in the right place to address the threat and ensure the security of our traveling public», said a senior administration official.

The ban does not affect US airlines because none fly directly from the airports or countries involved. Officials did not directly answer a question about the possibility of a terrorist in one of the affected countries taking a connecting flight to the United States. «We continue to evaluate and apply security measures, both visible and invisible, to address all aspects of this threat,» said a senior administration official.

The order was based on intelligence that officials would not disclose. Incidents and air accidents such as that of the Metrojet airline by an alleged bomb in October 2015; the explosion on board a Daallo Airlines flight in Somalia in February 2016, and the bombing at Brussels Airports in March 2016 and Istanbul in June 2016 contributed to the higher level of threat. Security experts have said that the onboard bomb of the Daallo Airlines flight was hidden in a laptop.

«We are concerned about the current interest in targeting commercial aviation, including transportation centers. Only by evaluating all intelligence, we believe that the threat remains important against airlines and airports. For that reason, we have determined that these measures were necessary», said a senior administration official.

Andrew Thomas, Associate Professor at the University of Akron and Chief Editor of the Journal of Transportation Security, said Al Qaeda continues to target aviation, despite the focus on Islamic State. Packing explosives in electronics is nothing new after the bomb hidden in a cassette recorder in checked luggage destroyed Pan Am flight 103 in December 1988, he said. «The idea of using electronic devices such as ‘Trojan horses’ to deliver explosives on board a flight is nothing new. But another question arises: would people travel or could they travel without their mobile phone or other personal devices if they were not given another option?», said Thomas. Kosovo asigna subsidios a aerolíneas

AW | 2019 12 15 22:55 | AIRLINES / GOVERNMENT

Kosovo assigns subsidies to airlines

Kosovo allocates 9 million euros in airline subsidies

The Government of Kosovo has adopted plans to provide nine million euros in subsidies for airlines flying to Pristina Airport over the next three years, or the equivalent of three million euros annually.

The Ministry of Infrastructure believes that the measure will make air tickets more affordable and increase revenue. Follow the calls from the Pristina airport for the authorities to do more to stimulate carriers and avoid losing passengers at the airports of Skopje and Niš. The stimulus package will be distributed to airlines based on the number of passengers transported.

Pristina Airport saw its number of passengers grow by 9.9% during the period from January to November, handling a record of 2,184,923 travelers. British Airways recently announced that it would resume seasonal operations in Kosovo in 2020 after an eight-year hiatus.

Pristina Airport’s Programming Manager, Driton Hyseni, said earlier this year that the government should make funds available to the airlines so that the airport remains competitive against its regional counterparts. «The time has come to offer greater support to airlines and the tourism industry in Kosovo, which would provide our compatriots with a more convenient and affordable trip. In addition, such support would increase the number of foreign visitors to Kosovo, which would generate more income and provide more jobs in the aviation industry, the tourism sector, and other services», said Driton Hyseni arguing that by investing in the aviation sector, Pristina could attract passengers from Skopje and Niš. Nueva Declaración Derechos en Canadá

Resultado de imagen para New Air Rights Declaration in CanadaAW | 2019 12 15 11:04| AIRLINES

New Passenger Air Rights Declaration of Canada

The new regulations for passenger rights in Canada, which govern all flights to, from and within Canada, were introduced in two stages. The first set of laws of the country’s Official Air Passenger Protection Regulation entered into force in July 2019, but the second part came into effect on Sunday, December 15, 2019. The regulations govern all flights to, from and within Canada and the airlines of all sizes (although slightly different rules apply to smaller airlines). Here you will find everything you need to know about how the new invoice could affect your flight.

The Canadian Transportation Agency finally introduced the highly anticipated consumer protection rules for air travelers on July 15, 2019. The objective of the new consumer code was to enact legislation that would put Canada on a par with the clearly defined consumer protections already offered to passengers in the United States and the European Union.

New regulations

Carriers are not exactly known for their quick and informative updates for passengers. Under the new code, airlines must fully inform passengers about their rights in a «timely, clear and accessible» manner. If a flight is delayed, the airline must explain the nature of the interruption and provide information on the status of the flight every 30 minutes. As of December 15, 2019, new regulations are enacted that address important issues such as compensation for flight cancellations, refunds, and trips with children.

Boarding pass

The new regulations are more effective in order to determine that a passenger should get off the flight. Airlines may not randomly select passengers to be expelled; rather, they should always ask for volunteers first. If selected, you are entitled to mandatory compensation amounts.
Asphalt delays

Delays

If you stay late on the runway, the airline must provide access to the bathroom, food and drink and allow people to make calls. When asphalt delays reach the three-hour mark, passengers must be allowed to disembark.

Lost or damaged luggage

Passengers on international and national flights will be eligible to receive up to C $ 2,100 (Canadian dollars) in compensation for lost or damaged luggage.

Communication

It is now up to the airlines to inform passengers about their compensation rights and let them know that they can file an official complaint with the Canadian Transportation Agency.

Compensation

While a delay or cancellation is under the control of the airline, passengers must be compensated between C $ 125 and C $ 1,000 depending on the duration of the delay and whether or not the airline qualifies as a large or small airline. Better yet, although a passenger can request a coupon, airlines must offer compensation in monetary form.

Treatment standards

For any delay of more than two hours, airlines must provide passengers with food and media such as free Wi-Fi. If the delay is overnight, passengers must receive accommodation and transportation to the accommodation, all free of charge.

Reservation change and refunds

For any type of flight delay or cancellation, it is the responsibility of the airline to ensure that passengers arrive at their intended final destination. If a flight is canceled or delayed for more than three hours, carriers must re-book the passenger in the same class on the next available flight on the same airline or an associated airline.

For flight interruptions that are under the control of the carrier, if the delay is more than nine hours, large airlines are required to re-book the passenger on any possible airline (even if it is a competing airline). In addition, passengers could get a refund instead of having to re-book if alternative flight arrangements do not meet their needs. In addition, even if they choose to get a refund of the ticket instead of re-booking, they must be compensated up to C$ 400 for the inconvenience.

If the flight interruption is not under the control of the airline, large airlines must book passengers on a competing airline if they (or an associated airline) do not have flights available within 48 hours.

Flying with children

Now there are strict rules on how far airlines can sit children under 14 years away from their parents. A detailed description of the CTA of air passengers Protection Regulations can be found here on their website. Having a deep understanding of these rules (and possible loopholes in the airlines, such as an unforeseen mechanical error that makes the delay out of your control) is the best way to ensure that your rights as a passenger are respected and respected.

AW-Icon AW001

SWA_B7377MAX.pngSouthwest Airlines reaches a confidential agreement with Boeing for some of its 737 MAX losses

Southwest Airlines has reached a confidential agreement with The Boeing Company for a portion of its financial losses linked to the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, the company announced this week. Southwest owns the largest number of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on land than any airline in the world.

The airline’s Executive Director, Gary C. Kelly, said the company will share a portion of the agreement, approximately US$ 125 million, with its employees through the Southwest earnings share plan. «Our people have done an amazing job managing through the MAX bases while providing the highest levels of customer service and one of the best operational performance in our history», Kelly said in a press release.

Ops costs in Southwest

Boeing aircraft have landed worldwide since March 2019, after the second accident on March 10 of Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-302. In October 2019, Southwest reported that grounding the 737 MAX had cost the airline US$ 435 million between March-September 2019. Southwest has 34 737 MAX units in its inoperative land fleet. The airplanes continue to land pending the approval of the FAA flight. The company emphasized that the agreement is only a partial agreement and that it «continues to engage in ongoing discussions with Boeing regarding compensation for damages related to the 737 MAX bases».

SWAPA unions

The Southwest pilots union is also suing Boeing. In a lawsuit filed in October, the Southwest Airlines Pilot Association alleged that the company deliberately deceived the organization and its members about the security of 737 MAX. According to the lawsuit, the grounding of the plane caused the elimination of more than 30,000 scheduled flights and resulted in financial losses of more than the US$ 100 million for the more than 9,700 pilots of the airline. The case is awaiting the determination of a federal judge on whether it will be heard in a Federal Court or returned to the State Court of Texas, where it was originally filed.

In a Memorandum sent to its members this week, Jon Weaks, president of the Southwest Airlines Pilot Association, said employees appreciated that Boeing has recognized the importance of compensating employees for the financial difficulties they have suffered as a result of the ground connection. However, he added that the union will continue its claim against Boeing.

«SWAPA feels that the Southwest-Boeing agreement only solidifies our legal claim. We hope to obtain the specific details of the Boeing-Southwest agreement in the discovery process during the litigation», he wrote.

Voices from Boeing

In a statement, a Boeing spokesman said: «We do not comment on conversations with private clients, but we are working closely with all of them to support them in this difficult time».

Boeing said that while it will continue working with the pilots to return the 737 MAX aircraft to service, he disagreed with the allegations in the lawsuit. «Boeing has the greatest respect for the men and women who fly to Southwest Airlines. We are aware that its pilot union, SWAPA, has filed a lawsuit against Boeing related to the suspension of operations of the 737 MAX. We believe that this lawsuit has no merit. and we will defend it vigorously», Boeing spokesman Peter P. Pedraza said in a statement. AW-Icon AW002
