AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Mitsubishi Aircraft has confirmed that two additional MRJ-90 aircraft will join its flight test campaign.

The Mitsubishi MRJ-90 series # 10007 and # 10010 aircraft, which are being assembled, were recently painted with a livery with the MRJ90 logo on their vertical drifts. Japanese automaker Mitsubishi said the goal is to complete the assembly of these two aircraft and test them by the end of 2018. These additional aircraft will incorporate late design changes into their avionics compartment that meet the certification requirements. The aircraft will perform electromagnetic interference tests and field tests of high intensity, functionality and reliability, passenger comfort and operational evaluation.

The two additional MRJ-90 aircraft are added to the four tires for the certification tests of the MRJ-90 Program. The MRJ-90 Program is today at the midpoint of the flight test campaign, with more than 1,500 flight hours accumulated. But the initial 2,500-hour flight test plan will require an additional 500 hours of overtime due to a late design change.

Mitsubishi intends to deliver the first MRJ90 to the launch company All Nippon Airways (ANA) by mid-2020. The MRJ-90 completed its first test flight in November 2015; After a new delay announced in 2016, ANA was forced to place an order for Bombardier Q400 for its regional subsidiary. ANA bought 15 MRJ-90 (10 options). The MRJ-90 is a future regional aircraft that will transport between 86-96 passengers. It has accumulated firm orders for SkyWest (100), Japan Airlines (32), while the younger brother MRJ-70 still has no firm orders. A \ W

Corte energía apaga pista principal Aeropuerto Rhode Island

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Power cut off main runway Rhode Island Airport

Power has been reduced to lighting some runways Theodore Francis Green Memorial State Airport (PVD/ KPVD) at Rhode Island’s main airport, prompting officials to close the main runway at night as a precaution.

The Rhode Island Airport Corporation says the partial electrical fault has obscured the illumination of the edges of the main runway at TF Green Airport in Warwick. The edge lighting provides visual references for the pilots along the entire runway.

Spokesman Bill Fischer says the airport noticed the disruption on Saturday morning and electricians are working to repair it. Fischer says the main runway has been closed since sunset on Saturday at dawn on Sunday. Scheduled flights will land on the alternative track. A \ W

Caso PLUNA Líneas Aéreas

AW-70083900

AW | 2017 12 24 12:33 | AIRLINES / GOVERNMENT

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Case PLUNA Líneas Aéreas

The Justice of Uruguay was issued on the PLUNA case

The process of the bankruptcy of the Uruguayan airline PLUNA, from the closure of its operations in 2012 to date with the ruling of Judge María Helena Mainard, carried out these days, have brought a judicial decision to the case.

The Uruguayan Justice condemned the ex-President of the Banco República (BROU), Fernando Calloia, for the crime of abuse of functions and acquitted the ex-Minister of Economy, Fernando Lorenzo.

The reasons that led to the induced bankruptcy of PLUNA lie in the sale of the aircraft fleet and the role of entrepreneur Juan Carlos López Mena. The Argentine-Uruguayan businessman claims that the Banco República will return the money paid for the endorsement of the PLUNA auction. In 2014, it had made an agreement with the government of Uruguay to take over that debt, assumed by the Spanish company Cosmo Líneas Aéreas SL, whose representative offered in a auction for the planes of the former flag carrier, but never injected the money. Lopez Mena claims in the lawsuit that the BROU will return the money paid with interest, and will pay U $ D 1 million dollars for damages. The endorsement of the Banco República for the participation of a company in the auction and the derivations on whether or not there was abuse of functions is exposed.

Uruguayan Justice ruled on the endorsement granted by the Banco República to the Spanish company Cosmo Líneas Aéreas SL to participate in the auction of the seven planes of the Uruguayan airline. The former president of the bank, Fernando Calloia, was sentenced to 20 months in prison, special disqualification for two years, and a fine of 1,000 readjustable units. He will not go to prison for being primary, processed without prison, for an excarcelable crime. For his part, former Minister of Economy Fernando Lorenzo was acquitted.

The Parliament of Uruguay approved the closure of PLUNA Líneas Aéreas Ente Autónomo, for next December 31, 2017. The PLUNA case is still open, but its wings will remain in the collective memory of Uruguayans. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Andes made its first flight to Punta del Este

Andes Líneas Aéreas made the first regional flight to Punta del Este

Andes Líneas Aéreas began its regular regional operations with the flight that will link the Aeroparque Jorge Newbery airport with the city of Punta del Este, in Uruguay.

The flight departed shortly after 15 and is scheduled to arrive at the Laguna del Sauce airport around 16; to then start the return at 17.30 hs and arrive at the Metropolitan Airport at 18.20 hs.

«We are complying with what we proposed at the public hearing 12 months ago. We have been advancing on each of the objectives and we reached this end of 2017 with virtually all budgets», said Bernardo Racedo Aragón, commercial manager of the Argentine capital firm. The executive said that «getting to Punta del Este is not only to take advantage of a summer destination with great demand, it is also our first regional step in regular flights out of the country. So far we have only flown abroad with charter services. We are planning for 2018 other regional destinations such as Santiago de Chile, Montevideo and Asunción». According to the commercial manager, «during December, in addition to adding the route to Punta del Este, we will incorporate as a destination to Mar del Plata, a classic of the holidays of all Argentines», added Racedo Aragón.

Andes Líneas Aéreas thus began its regular international operations with a daily service between Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and Punta del Este, increasing the offer of seats to that destination by 20% at the beginning of the summer season.

This year it is expected that at least four million people will spend the summer in the Uruguayan city, of which they estimate that 2.5 million will be Argentines, according to estimates from the tourism authorities of the neighboring country.

Recently the company Andes Líneas Aéreas, incorporated a Boeing 737, the eighth aircraft in its fleet. It is a new Boeing 737 800 (LV-HKZ), which joins the fleet being the first Boeing Next Generation with Split Scimitar Winglet technology in Argentina. It is a development of wing tips to maximize fuel efficiency. The airline has McDonnell Douglas MD-83 (5) and Boeing 737 800 (3) aircraft.

The incorporation of the new airplane will allow consolidating the company’s plan to reach more destinations, with better services and with a smart fare scheme that enhances the competition in the national market and allows the access of many Argentines who previously could not fly.

For Bernardo Racedo Aragón, commercial manager of the company, this milestone of Andes is nothing more than the execution of a plan announced at the public hearing held in December 2016 by the enforcement authority. A \ W
