Mitsubishi engagement MA90

Mitsubishi restructures and redirects aviation development

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp. said Monday, June 15, 2020 that it will downsize and reorganize the team developing Japan’s first passenger jet in the face of falling demand for air travel due to the Coronavirus pandemic, in a move that could delay even plus the launch of the plane. As part of its restructuring, the aircraft manufacturing subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. will cut more than half of its 2,000-person workforce and close all of its overseas bases except for the company’s flight test site in the US state of Washington, a company source said.

The company is developing a small aircraft known as the Mitsubishi SpaceJet MA90 formerly known as the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ-90). Its initial delivery to All Nippon Airways Co., originally scheduled for 2013, has been postponed six times until 2021 or later due to parts issues.

Restructuring at Mitsubishi

Development Director Alex Bellamy will resign later this month, while Yasuhiko Kawaguchi, who currently serves as deputy director of the U.S. test site, will take the lead in aircraft development as chief executive engineer, starting in July 1, 2020. «This tough new business environment required the development of a new operational plan for this fiscal year that includes resizing your organization so that Mitsubishi Aircraft can weather and get through this crisis», it said in a statement.

Mitsubishi Aircraft reiterates its commitment to M90 certification. It has reorganized its senior management as it reiterates its commitment to certify its SpaceJet regional jet program. The Japanese fuselage will promote company veteran Yasuhiko Kawaguchi to the role of Chief Executive Engineer. Kawaguchi, who has 35 years of experience with Mitsubishi Aircraft and parent company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), will oversee aircraft design and type certification. Mitsubishi Aircraft adds that Kawaguchi also played a central role in flight tests in the United States.

This fiscal year, Mitsubishi Aircraft will focus on reorganizing, improving current aircraft-level design, and validating flight test data. He adds that the Coronavirus has forced him to shift his priorities from global development to perseverance and determination to achieve type certification in his M90 variant. Mitsubishi Aircraft will close all locations outside of Japan and move all SpaceJet activities to its headquarters in Nagoya, in response to pressure from the high costs achieved.

It has also suspended development of the 76-seat M100 variant, and will halt all flight testing of the M90 variant. “This tough new business environment also required the development of a new operational plan for this fiscal year that included resizing your organization so that Mitsubishi Aircraft can resist and emerge from this crisis. The company’s priority will be to obtain type certification for the SpaceJet M90”, says the fuselage. MHI announced in April that it would halve the SpaceJet budget for the year ending March 31, 2021, as the year-long losses in the program expand. On June 1, it closed the acquisition of Bombardier’s CRJ program, a deal first announced in 2019.

The Japanese industry will close its headquarters in the United States, a development center in Canada and sales offices in the United States and Europe, the company source said. Mitsubishi Heavy has said it will cut development costs in the aircraft business by more than half to ¥ 60 billion ($ 559 million) in the current fiscal year through next March. undefined

FAdeA extra-worker claims

Dismissed workers demand their reinstatement

Workers dismissed during the previous Argentine Government of the FAdeA (Argentine Aircraft Factory «Brigadier San Martín» S.A.), located in Córdoba, continue to demand their reincorporation to the new authorities of the company under the Ministry of Defense of the Nation. There are 300 people who were detached from the factory during the previous government. After Mirta Iriondo’s arrival to the FADeA Presidency, she did not bring the good news that the unemployed awaited.

On February 4, 2020, the State Workers Association (ATE) presented a list of dismissed workers to start negotiations for their reinstatement. One of the conditions set by the FAdeA President is that they be dismissed without cause. The dialogue began after various activities that reached the intersection of Route 20 on February 2, 2020. However, after the delivery of that issue, there was no response from Mirta Iriondo. Dialogue was interrupted by the pandemic, but hierarchical contracts have been signed in recent weeks.

Quarantined meeting

With the announcement of the mandatory and social preventive isolation ordered by the National Executive, the CEO of FAdeA had expressed that the factory suspended activities and negotiations until further notice. The patience of the workers had reached its limit when the incorporation of three officials in leadership positions was announced. The contracts were signed in the midst of a pandemic, while the same health emergency was used as an excuse to keep the negotiations frozen.

At the end of 2015, there were 1,700 workers between layoffs, retirements and voluntary retirements, which were not filled after those positions; there were around 890 employees. The claims are made in a political climate, due to salary inconsistencies and mainly due to the lack of logic in not attending to the claims of the ex-workers in times of pandemic. By these claims they understand that the urgent reactivation of FADeA is necessary.

Aerolíneas celebrates 40th of the transpolar flight

On June 7, 1980, Aerolíneas Argentinas inaugurated the first commercial transpolar flight on the Ezeiza-Auckland route (New Zealand), marking a historical milestone in world aviation 40 years ago.

The first non-regular AR-1880 flight was in charge of Commander Hilario Valinotti, but only in the Ezeiza-Río Gallegos section, a technical stopover to refuel the Boeing 747-200 with registration LV-MLR to later carry out its second section, Rio Gallegos-Auckland. In Río Gallegos, the flight was commanded by Commander Horacio Segura, seconded by Commanders Reynaldo D’aintree, Diego Geddes and Fernando Cebral and assisted by the Flight Technical Engineers Héctor Espíñeira, Crescencio Tomas and Oscar Pescio. The Passenger Cabin Crews were: Carlos Burmeister, Horacio Arbeloa, René Velardi, Oscar Elvira, Guillermo Sarramea, Cristina Brioso, Maria Garrrido, Luisa Lekis, Enid Clide Pavesi, Ana Suquet, Cristina Sahatlian, Jinien Tzou, Eva Vleugels, Maria Haramburu , Nora de Ferraris, Maria Caumo, Ana Runge, Ema Ali and Juana Helena Caldwell. 10 seats were reserved to invite the press and the rest were fully sold as the demand for tickets for the first sub-Antarctic flight far exceeded the 345 seats offered for sale. The journalists invited by AR and Optar were: Magdalena Ruiz Guiñazu; Bernardo Neustadt; Roberto Maidana; Sergio Villaroel; Julio Lagos and Oscar Otranto. Along with them, three cameramen traveled for television channels and one of the then Lowe Newscast.

After the statutory rest of the crew, they flew to Hong Kong, from where the passengers by another airline continued to Tokyo and Los Angeles, United States. The plane went in ballast from Hong Kong to Shanghai as flight AR-1881, returning to Auckland, via Guam Island, over the Pacific, returning to Ezeiza, Argentina.

Memorable Dates

On June 7, 1980 Boeing 747-200, registration LV-MLR, the first transpolar flight was made by a commercial airline. The flight departed from Buenos Aires (Ezeiza) stopping at Río Gallegos to then cross the South Pole and arrive in Auckland, New Zealand. Later she made her final destination in Hong Kong.

On December 2, 1980 the first non-stop flight (without stops) was made between Melbourne and Buenos Aires (Ezeiza), inaugurating the route.

On September 5, 1981 he began regular flights to Auckland, New Zealand using the transpolar route.

On April 1, 2014, AR1181 landed in Ezeiza, which was the last transpolar flight of Aerolíneas Argentinas, after almost 34 uninterrupted years of linking Latin America with Oceania; these flights are deprogrammed for being unprofitable but they continue to be carried out from Ezeiza and Chile, by foreign companies.

Spirit detiene producción 737 MAX

AW | 2020 06 12 23:50 | INDUSTRY

Boeing solicita proveedor Spirit detener producción fuselaje

Spirit AeroSystems halts production 737 MAX

Boeing has requested that Spirit supplier stop fuselage production

Spirit AeroSystems, the provider of the Boeing 737 MAX fuselage, said The Boeing Company has reportedly halting production of Boeing 737 MAX parts for a time. The news shook investor confidence, bringing new questions about future production rates, as well as the plane’s recertification timeline. The Wall Street finance center is analyzing what the Spirit AeroSystems news means for Boeing’s shares, as well as the actions of other aerospace providers.

Spirit AeroSystems, a major contractor on the 737 MAX, will suspend personnel after Boeing directs it to pause work on the fighter jet, Spirit announced Wednesday, June 10, 2020. It will stop assembly of the 737 MAX line and place the workers on a 21-day unpaid leave. Boeing has told Spirit Aerosystems to suspend further work on four Boeing 737 MAX units and to avoid starting production on another 16 that are scheduled to be delivered in the course of 2020.

Spirit AeroSystems is taking steps «to support Boeing’s alignment of short-term lead times with its customers’ needs in light of COVID-19’s impact on air travel and airline operations, and to mitigate spending potential production costs unnecessary», said the Wichita, Kansas-based factory. As a result, Spirit will place workers in its factory on layoff for 21 days starting Monday, June 15, 2020, affecting the measure to 900 workers. Spirit said it was also undertaking an immediate reduction in the hourly workforce in Tulsa and McAlester, Oklahoma.

The Boeing 737 MAX has been grounded since March 2019 after two plane crashes that resulted in 346 deaths. Boeing had been aiming in mid-2020 to get regulatory approval for the recertification of the Boeing 737 MAX, but more recently said it expects commercial deliveries to resume during the third quarter. A Boeing spokesperson declined to comment on the timing of a certification flight, a key step in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval process. «We continue to work closely with the FAA and global regulators in the rigorous process to safely return the 737 MAX to service», said the Boeing spokesperson.

Airbus construye último A380

AW | 2020 06 12 21:04 | INDUSTRY

Airbus builds latest A380

Airbus Group will assemble the construction of the last A380

Airbus Group has started transporting the fuselage sections of the last A380-800 of the last aircraft in the series for final assembly in Toulouse, France. A380 structures must cover 500 km to reach the final assembly line. The last sections of the A380 fuselage this week left Airbus facilities in Saint-Nazaire, in western France, for final assembly in Toulouse. Considered a major program for the local French industry, the Super Jumbo should have its last unit delivered in early 2021, kicking off the start of the farewell to the so-called giant Super Jumbo.

The massive fuselage sections of the MSN272 were packed into special trucks to make the A380’s last trip overland. The route that required constant roadblocks since 2004 will now be a memory for residents of the cities between Saint-Nazaire and Toulouse. The main fuselage assemblies of the A380 traveled almost 500 kilometers between the Montoir-de-Bretagne unit and the final production line, taking part of the trip by land and then boarding a special ship, in the port of Saint Nazaire. After a sea route, the components disembark at Pauillac, to be assigned on a river ferry, sailing on the Gironde River, to the city of Langon. After leaving the ferry, they return to the cars, making the last trip for June 25, 2020 outside Blagnac/Haute-Garonne, near Toulouse. Part of the process is quite slow, due to the complexity of the operation and the enormous volume of the parts.

The A380 will cease to be produced just 14 years after it entered into service with Singapore Airlines, which introduced the model on flights to Sydney in October 2007. The order book will total 274 units delivered. After countless global difficulties, the Airbus giant faced the severe economic crisis of 2008 and the appearance of twin-engine engines that offer greater efficiency in consumption and lower operating costs. The latest model will be delivered to Emirates Airline, the model’s largest operator, but which also plans to phase out the fleet in the next decade.

The expansion of difficulties and crises that hit the aviation industry, begins to show the darker side for aviation builders, where the Super Jumbo has its days numbered with the completion of the production line of the A380, the colossus of the air that had tried to deal with the Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet. The American builder will continue to pilot how to manage the market of the «Queen of the skies», but it will have to be known for how much longer it will survive the supremacy of the giants of the commercial industry.

Boeing próxima recertificación 737 MAX

AW | 2020 06 10 16:05 | AVIATION SAFETY / INDUSTRY

Boeing predicts 737 MAX recertification

Boeing 737 MAX approaching recertification end of June 2020

The Boeing Company is targeting in late June 2020 for the grounded Boeing 737 MAX recertification flight and is notifying airlines of a key solution to the aircraft’s wiring in signs that the troubled aircraft is about to return to service. A revised draft of pilot training for the plane that has been parked worldwide since March 2019.

Movements in the Boeing industry were strong indications that after more than a year of landing the company’s best-selling aircraft model and the controversy surrounding its two fatal crashes, it is approaching the final stages necessary to recertification and upcoming resumption of business service.

Recertification preparations

The date for a flight by pilots of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to certify that the plane meets safety standards has not been finalized and a person warned that the company still has elements to complete before it can occur.

Boeing’s goal has been to return the 737 MAX, the top selling flagship and unit. They estimate that the model can enter commercial service in the third quarter (3Q2020). The Chicago-based company restarted production of the single-aisle aircraft late last month, after stopping for a period of five months on the assembly line in Renton, Washington State.

The company is reviewing the Flight Control System known as the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) involved in the two plane crashes that repeatedly brought down the noses of the planes due to an aircraft flight control malfunction. The aircraft’s safety reviews after its grounding on March 13, 2019 also discovered additional flaws that needed to be updated, including its Flight Control computer; bundling electrical wiring to motors and software problems.

The FAA is also extensively reviewing how it assesses pilot performance during malfunction as a result of accidents. If everything goes according to plan, the plane will return to a very different market than in March 2019, when regulators stopped the 737 MAX flight. A global pandemic has plunged the travel industry into its worst recorded decline, and many customer airlines claiming for the Boeing 737 MAX just a few months ago are now struggling to survive. undefined

Boeing confía recuperación a futuro

AW | 2020 06 09 16:16 | INDUSTRY

Boeing confident future recovery

Aircraft cancellations exceeded new orders in May 2020

The Boeing Company has oscillated the orders in the month of May 2020 adding cargo orders, but losing more offers of 737 MAX. Aircraft cancellations exceeded new orders in 05/202; still the company benefits from a broad line of cargo products.

Boeing has reported that the plane cancellations outpaced new orders in May, although the company found a bright spot with new deals for its cargo planes. The company reported nine orders and twice the cancellations, which included a change of a delivery space for a 747 freighter for UPS, the company said. Aircraft rental companies canceled deals for 14 737 MAX aircraft and also lost orders for four wide-body aircraft. The cancellations were less than in April and occurred in a month when rival Airbus did not win new aircraft deals.

Boeing’s backlog fell to 4,744 aircraft, the lowest since 2013, including orders the company periodically withdraws from its account due to financial problems or other factors in some customers, a practice it did not have in place seven years ago. years.

The manufacturer’s shares have recovered nearly 70% in the past month, as signs that passengers returning to air travel raised the sector, but its shares have still fallen more than 30% so far this year.
