Low cost argentinas contra CLARA-APLA

AW | 2022 11 01 14:51 | AIRLINES / AVIATION ORGANISMS

Trabajadores low cost argentina repudian convenio CLARA-APLA

Low cost Argentines against CLARA-APLA

Low cost Argentine workers repudiate CLARA-APLA agreement

The workers of the low cost airlines Flybondi Líneas Aéreas and JetSMART Airlines Argentina repudiated the signing of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCT) between the Association of Air Line Pilots (APLA) and the Chamber of Air Lines of the Argentine Republic (CLARA). ) that provides rights and obligations of the parties in terms of service provision, licenses, remuneration and compensation, among others. According to a joint statement from the Flybondi Aeronautical Workers Association (ATAF) and the JetSmart Workers Union Association (ASTJ), the agreement implies «one more step towards the destruction of labor sources in the aeronautical industry, whatever its origin or model», since it would grant powers to APLA above all legal order, to the point of constituting it as a negotiator with each employer company of absolutely all salary and benefit components.

“APLA has no representation among our pilots, because we know that it exclusively defends the interests of state companies, a box of permanent looting of state coffers and the Argentine people. Clara is a chamber to which low cost companies are not associated and, therefore, does not represent companies that do not subscribe to its statute; it only safeguards the interests of Aerolineas Argentinas and intends to impose guidelines on those who compete healthily, putting us all in the same place”, they assured from the low cost airline unions.

On the other hand, they said that Flybondi and JetSMART are the “only airline companies that survived the actions and permanent attempts of destruction by traditional unions and that private low cost companies cannot maintain the neoliberal luxuries of that union. Low cost workers feel ashamed of others and we do not want to be accomplices or part of a union that is sustained only by the state contribution of more than US$ 800 million a year, when there are so many unsatisfied essential demands in the population in general, with high rates of structural poverty. Without the resources of the taxpayers, of all the Argentine people, APLA would not exist”, they affirmed.

Lastly, they insisted that they maintain their self-determination to preserve their interests and said that they do not recognize any other representation imposed illegally and illegitimately. “From our unions ATAF and ASTJ we defend the interests of associated employees regardless of their hierarchy, with our own collective company agreements, without conditions and without embarking on delusional and totalitarian projects, which will eventually destroy our sources of work. It happened with Andes, exAvian, exSW, exAerovip, exDinar, exLapa, exLatam Argentina, etc. APLA was in all of them, defending Aerolineas Argentinas and not Argentine pilots”, they recalled.

“We have memory and we remember that they never represented us, they never defended us and the only thing they advocated was our destruction and exclusion from the industry and ultimately our sources of work. We have not forgotten either, because we witnessed the indolent and joyful attitude of APLA and other aeronautical unions before the closure of El Palomar”, they expressed, and said that they remain in a state of mobilization and alert.

Interrumpen privatización ITA Airways

AW | 2022 11 01 13:51 | AIRLINES / GOVERNMENT

Interrupción venta exclusiva a Certares por ITA Airways

AW-ITA Airways_Isologotype_Tx

Italy halts ITA Airways privatization

Interruption of exclusive sale to Certares by ITA Airways

The new Italian Government headed by the far-right Giorgia Meloni decided this Monday 10/31 to interrupt negotiations exclusively with the consortium formed by the US fund Certares and the US airlines Delta Air Lines and the French airline Air France to sell the airline ITA Airways, born from bankruptcy of Alitalia, and take time for a decision.

The new head of the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgietti, has announced the paralysis of the progress of the privatization at the end of the term of the exclusive negotiations with the Certares consortium, and in a note it was reported that «interlocutions continue for the definition of a possible transfer agreement of the airline», which opens a possibility to the other group that presented an offer, formed by the Italian-Swiss company MSC, the largest shipping company in the world, and the German Lufthansa German Airlines.

On August 31, 2022, just at the beginning of the exclusive negotiation with Certares, Giancarlo Giorgetti, then Minister of Economic Development of the Draghi Government, did not hide that the decision to choose the US fund took him by surprise, showing his concern because «this offer does not include an industrial partner, one of the fundamental pieces of the strategy, which would give a future for the Italian company and its workers”.

The Italian Treasury, the sole shareholder of ITA Airways, explained that it chose the offer led by the US fund as it considered it more in line with the objectives set by the decree of the Prime Minister, Mario Draghi for its sale. The offer of Certares-Delta-Air France could have been convinced by the fact that it left 45% of the shares to the Italian State and therefore greater control over the future of the company. Analysts also pointed out the rigidity of the MSC-Lufthansa offer in the distribution of shares, since the two wanted to get 80%, leaving 20% to the Italian Treasury. The offer presented by MSC and Lufthansa offered between € 850 and € 900 million Euros for an 80% stake, according to the financial daily Il Sole 24 ore. La Repubblica newspaper reported that the Certares consortium offered € 650 million for 55% of the airline, recognized an additional premium if ITA Airways achieves good financial results, and awarded the Treasury two out of five seats on the Board of Directors and the post of President.

The Italian media quote sources close to the operation as saying that Certares was working to quickly reach a binding and definitive offer.

In mid-October 2022, the Board of Directors of ITA Airways withdrew the powers from the Executive President, Alfredo Altavilla, including the task of negotiating the sale of the Italian state airline, transferring them to the CEO, Fabio Lazzerini, by denouncing that the leader was delaying its sale. The confrontation between the President and the Board of Directors of ITA Airways was transferred to the Courts after Alfredo Altavilla himself sued six members of the Board of Directors.

The ITA Airways Shareholders’ Meeting scheduled for November 8, 2022 will approve the capital increase of € 400 million Euros, the second tranche of the total financing of € 1,350 million Euros authorized by the European Union (EU).

ITA Airways was founded on November 11, 2020. The airline flies to more than sixty national, European and some scheduled intercontinental destinations, with a smaller structure than Alitalia had, with a fleet of 52 aircraft and around 3,000 employees, compared to 11,000 that the former Italian flag carrier had, and is looking for a potential industrial partner to boost its competitiveness in a sector that has been hit hard by the global health crisis.

AW | 2022 11 01 13:25 | AIRLINES

Aerolíneas Argentinas seleccionaría Airbus A330NEO
Estudia incorporar Embraer E190-E2 y Boeing 737 MAX adicionales

Aerolíneas Argentinas would select Airbus A330NEO
Studies incorporating additional Embraer E190-E2/Boeing 737 MAX

Aerolíneas Argentinas_Isologotype Skyblue

Aerolineas Argentinas plans a fleet renewal of regional aircraft, narrowbodies and widebodies as part of the wide-range fleet updates. In a rapidly growing post-pandemic Latin American market, the Argentine airline reports its fleet renewal plan.

Driven by strong growth, the General Manager of Aerolíneas Argentinas forecasts growth of around 20 percent for the peak season at the end of the year and another 10 percent for next year. «We don’t have enough planes to fly to all the destinations we used to fly to before the pandemic», explains CEO Pablo Ceriani. Therefore, the airline wishes to lease two additional Airbus A330-200 (2) to meet the increasing demand. Negotiations are at an early stage, as they seek to increase international frequencies. Currently, the A330-200 fleet is eight aircraft. Reaching ten units would allow all pre-pandemic destinations to be covered.

Fleet update

The two oldest A330-200 of Aerolíneas Argentinas will then be more than twenty years old. Leases with Aircastle will not be renewed after they expire at the end of 2023, says Pablo Ceriani. Therefore, the long-haul fleet will once again be made up of twelve A330s, as before the pandemic.

The widebodies aircraft fleet would begin to migrate to the Airbus A330-900NEO fleet, updating technological innovation and improving carbon footprint indices. The airline plans to incorporate four Airbus A330-900 (4) under the lease modality. Aerolíneas has not announced the acquisition plan, but it will depend on availability, but expects to add the A330NEO to the fleet by 2024 or 2025.

In addition, the airline is studying the replacement of the Embraer E190-E1 fleet belonging to the former company Austral Líneas Aéreas, later absorbed by Aerolíneas Argentinas. It currently operates twenty-six Embraer E190-100s (26), which it inherited from the former Austral subsidiary. They have an average age of about twelve years old.

The candidate to replace them would be the Embraer E190-E2, which would naturally reduce the cost of implementing new technology. But the Airbus A220 is also being looked at, according to the head of Aerolineas Argentinas. “But the chances are much better for the Embraer E2, mainly because of the drivers. The change could be very complicated”, says Pablo Ceriani. Aerolíneas Argentinas is currently in talks with Embraer to update the regional fleet.

At the same time, Aerolíneas Argentinas wants to acquire more Boeing 737 MAX. Leases for eight Boeing 737-700s (8) expire in 2025. These jets will be replaced by more 737 MAXs. Not only are the MAX 8 currently operated by the airline possible, but it is also being analyzed to incorporate the larger model Boeing 737-9 MAX.

La disyuntiva del Aeropuerto AIFA

AW | 2022 11 01 10:47 | AIRPORTS

Tráfico aéreo incrementa 82% en 09/2022
CNET falta rentabilidad llevaría aerolíneas a dejar AIFA

AW-Aeropuerto Felipe Ángeles__Isologotype-001

The dilemma of the AIFA Airport

Air traffic increases 82% in 09/2022
CNET lack of profitability could lead airlines to leave AIFA

The traffic of the Felipe Ángeles International Airport/NLU (AIFA) shoots up more than 80% with a second stage of new routes. In September 2022, the airlines opened new connections to Puerto Escondido, Los Cabos, La Paz and Veracruz, as part of a strategy to promote the new airport. Air traffic has reached the figure of 91,085 passengers compared to 49,919 in August 2022.

The AIFA plans to close its first year with 1 million passengers, to date it has registered an advance of just under 30% with 292,297 users. The opening of four new national routes, added to four more that were opened in 08/2022, led the Felipe Ángeles/NLU International Airport to increase its air traffic by 82% during September 2022, as part of a strategy that seeks to boost demand at the new airport to around 100 daily operations.

In September 2022, passenger traffic at the airport increased to 91,085 users from the 49,919 registered the previous month, with which it served a daily average of 3,036 passengers, according to data from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC). During the period, the route to Cancun continued its consolidation as the busiest destination in AIFA, with 23,152 passengers, 22% more than the previous year. This was followed by Mérida, with 12,109 users -42% more than in August-, and Monterrey, which, with 11,298 passengers, had a rebound of more than 250% due to the fact that more airlines operate the route, also being the one with the most passengers won in absolute terms, with 8,137 passengers.

Currently three national airlines Aeroméxico, Viva Aerobus and Volaris Airlines fly to fourteen destinations in the country, eight more compared to the six routes that the AIFA had at its inauguration, on March 21, 2022. Of the four routes that were opened during the month, Puerto Escondido was the busiest, with 3,310 passengers; followed by Los Cabos, with 2,139 users, and La Paz, with 1,775 users. During the period, two international routes were opened to the Dominican Republic, with Arajet, and to Panama with Copa Airlines.

The AIFA plans to close its first year of operations with more than one million passengers; however, in seven months of operation, it has made just under 30% of that progress, with just over 292,000 passengers.

CNET, profitability is lacking

The airlines that are operating in the AIFA would have to back down due to lack of profitability. Although some airlines that operate at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport/NLU have increased their frequencies, the occupancy factor they register is low and could make them back down, said this Monday 10/31, Braulio Arsuaga, President of the National Tourism Business Council (CNET).

During a conference to present the panorama of tourist activity in Mexico, the leader of the council that represents the private sector in the country, stated that the airlines that are at the Felipe Ángeles airport do so only because they have a presence in said terminal. “I want to think that today it is a matter of being present from the AIFA, leaving from the AIFA, but if it is not profitable, in the end these airlines will surely have to back down and remove those frequencies”, he said Monday 10/31 before media. The director recalled that the position that CNET has always had is in favor of “that the metropolitan aviation system works: the AIFA, the AICM with all the problems it has, and the Toluca Airport. What the industry requires is that the metropolitan airport system has the volume that the Government planned», said the President of CNET.

Giving his opinion in this regard, Francisco Madrid, also a participant in the conference and Director of the Tourism Competitiveness and Research Center (Cicotur) of the Anahuac University, explained that the AIFA has improved its volumes, and possibly would register more movement if the civil aeronautics of the country. «Due to the degradation of the country’s civil aeronautics, the AIFA at this time does not have and cannot have relations with national lines that have frequencies to the United States», explained the Director of Cicotur.

Regarding the panorama of tourist activity, it was detailed that Cicotur estimates a 43% decrease in the number of international tourist arrivals compared to 2019. Despite the recovery in the tourism sector, they also stated that the research center calculated that Tourism GDP shows a 2.9% drop in the first half of 2022.

China Southern desecha planes 737 MAX

AW | 2022 11 01 00:14 | AIRLINES

China Southern scraps 737 MAX plans

China Southern scraps scheduled Boeing 737 MAX flights

After two weeks of anticipation of the return of the Boeing 737 MAX to the routes in the Republic of China, the airline China Southern Airlines has decided to cancel the programming of the start of operations. The decision to cancel also occurred on the day of the flights, raising serious questions about the reliability of the product in the country.

China Southern Airlines initially scheduled domestic flights with the Boeing 737-8 MAX between them from Baiyun-Guangzhou/CAN for the first time in more than three years. The aircraft was due to take off at 12:25 as flight CZ-3960 to land at Zhengzhou Xinzheng/CGO International Airport at 14:55 scheduled for October 30, 2022. A second flight was also scheduled for the aircraft type, which would operate as CZ-8724, leaving Guangzhou/CAN at 01:00 p.m. and arriving at Wuhan Tianhe/WUH International Airport at approximately 3:00 p.m., scheduled to take off on 10/30 to return the following day as flight CZ-8727. Cancellations of all flights have not been replaced by other types of aircraft.

The China Southern Airlines company is the largest air operator of the Boeing 737 MAX line, which is a real challenge for the return of the type of aircraft to Chinese aviation itself. The airline has not commented on the cancellations of the flights, but a line of reasoning could assume that it would be the approach of the inauguration of the flights of the aircraft of its own harvest, the COMAC C919 scheduled for its first official delivery in November 2022.

Aerial perspectives

Commercial flight operations starting so soon for the C919, use of the Boeing 737 MAX would become redundant as China tries to close the Airbus-Boeing duopoly. From the end of 2022 onwards, Chinese airlines will be able to use their Chinese flagship aircraft to strengthen their fleets for the future, which would seek to outshine the American Boeing 737 MAX.

Perspectivas transatlánticas de Frontier

AW | 2022 11 01 00:04 | AIRLINES ROUTES

Directiva de low cost estudia vuelos a Europa

Frontier_Isologotype

Frontier Transatlantic outlook

Low cost directive studies flights to Europe

Frontier Airlines has announced a new frontier to fly behind the scenes, it is just ahead of the official announcement to fly transatlantic. After the failure of the negotiations to achieve a Frontier-Spirit merger, the US ultra low cost airline (ULLC) seeks to expand its trips abroad connecting the old continent, turning the company into a future main ULCC at the national level.

The Denver, Colorado (CO)-based airline has recently unveiled its first Airbus A321NEO, configured to accommodate 240 passengers. «95% of the capacity in the United States will cost 30% to 80% more than we do. So we don’t have a natural competitor at that point», Barry L. Biffle said. It’s a good time to take off internationally, despite the recent collapse of your airline’s deal to acquire Spirit Airlines, which was tipped for an unsolicited offer from JetBlue Airways. Frontier Airlines currently owns Airbus A321NEO (18) in its long-haul fleet, while expecting to acquire the A321XLR with the first scheduled for delivery in 2026.

Travel demand is high despite fears of a looming downturn in the broader economy, and the JetBlue-Spirit merger would remove a competitor from the aviation landscape, clearing the way for Frontier Airlines to focus on competing with larger classic airlines and with the expanded and strengthened JetBlue Airways. But in any case, the JetBlue-Spirit merger still has to go through state regulatory approvals to be finalized. Meanwhile, for the CEO of Frontier Airlines and parent company Indigo Partners, it makes a lot of sense to think about long-term expansion.

According to data from Airbus Group, the airlines owned by Indigo Partners have a total of 743 pending orders from the European manufacturer at the end of September 2022, while Frontier Airlines has orders for 226 aircraft pending delivery.

Although airlines have been challenged during the global health crisis and post-pandemic effects, the industry has suffered from supply chain disruption and has affected the output of new aircraft development production lines, delaying deliveries. to companies. That’s actually what led to the bidding war over Spirit Airlines: Both Frontier and JetBlue argued that by acquiring Spirit, they could effectively boost their growth plans.

Indigo Partners has full capacity to distribute aircraft orders based on progress in each region, being able to reallocate orders destined for other airlines in the group, with the possibility of seeing a better opportunity to give those aircraft to Frontier Airlines. «We’re growing as fast as we can. There may be other M&A targets at some point, but right now, organically we’re going to double in size within four years, and triple in size by the end of the decade», said Barry L. Biffle, ruling out the possibility of current plans to acquire a different airline now that the Spirit Airlines deal is out of reach.

Transatlantic prospects

The future introduction of the Airbus A321XLR will help the airline expand beyond the United States. «Europe, Hawaii and South America», said Barry L. Biffle. While Frontier offers point-to-point service across the United States, European routes would focus from the Northeast across the Atlantic to Europe. In the meantime, the budget airline will need to assess the A321XLR aircraft’s range-to-passenger equation, as it would likely fall well below the certified maximum if Frontier configured the aircraft with 240 seats.

The Indigo Partners group owns airlines in Europe such as Wizz Air, and in South America, JetSMART Airlines with a presence in Brazil, Chile and Peru, which in the future would allow it to enter into interline or code-share agreements with Frontier Airlines to offer a wider range of destinations with more convenient rates.

Preocupaciones Airbus por flota Rusia

AW | 2022 10 31 22:57 | INDUSTRY / AVIATION SAFETY

Airbus concerns about Russia fleet

European consortium concerned about commercial aviation safety

Airbus Group CEO Guillaume Faury has expressed that there are concerns on the safety side as domestic air travel in Russia takes off, but international sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation prevent maintenance of the plane. Sanctions against Russia over the war in Ukraine have prevented Airbus from updating safety directives for all aircraft on the European line. The aviation market in the Russian Federation has recovered to 85% of pre-pandemic capacity, according to the OAG, an aviation data provider.

Airbus maintains safety concerns about Russian airlines continuing to fly Western aircraft without necessary maintenance or spare parts due to sanctions imposed by governments and international organizations on the government of Vladimir Putin. «We are concerned about the maintenance conditions, since in reality the planes are flying a lot», said Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus, at a press conference on Friday 10/28, after the company published its third quarter results.

The Russian Federation lifted all pandemic-related travel restrictions on July 1, 2022, and Russian airlines are operating at approximately 85% of their 2019 capacity this winter season, according to data published on October 25, 2022. by the OAG, but the international restrictions and penalties of the European Union, Canada, the United States, have prohibited Russian aircraft from their airspace, which means that the Russians have limited airspace to fly internationally. «Because of the sanctions, we can’t really monitor and support like we do with our clients in normal times. And that’s something that’s actually creating some concerns on the security side. Now, there’s not much we can do about it», Guillaume Faury said.

In return, Moscow is taking steps to counter sanctions, with state-owned aviation technology firm Rostec Inc. announcing in September 2022 that it is targeting production of 1,000 planes by 2030, using locally made parts, to reduce reliance on aviation. western technology. Before the start of the Ukraine war, aircraft purchased from Western giants Boeing and Airbus carried 95% of Russian passenger traffic. Rostec, a conglomerate involved in engineering, aviation and defense, has said it aims to substitute imported parts for local ones, but the impact of the state of airline fleets has begun to take its toll.

Russian state-owned carrier Aeroflot Russian Airlines began withdrawing spare parts from working aircraft due to sanctions-induced supply shortages, known as scrapping or cannibalizing in-use aircraft to supply spare parts to other in-use aircraft.

Mercado EEUU post-pandemia

AW | 2022 10 31 16:17 | AIRLINES MARKET

Post-pandemic US market

Airlines between user habits vs programming approach
Travel patterns change for consumers

As traveler habits change, airlines are rethinking their approach to airline scheduling in the United States. By the same token, the world’s airlines are also redesigning their next way to fly. In the huge US market, changes in travel patterns brought on by the pandemic have prompted the big three US carriers United Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines to begin a readjustment of their decades-old approach to flight scheduling.

American, Delta and United have for years built their schedules with a focus on peak days and peak flight times for their corporate customers. Now, fueled by growth in hybrid business-leisure travel, as well as persistent declines in managed business travel, which continues to lag 2019 levels by about 20%, those scheduled peaks and troughs could become less dramatic. That would mean less variability in flight frequency over the course of given days, between days in a given week, and even potentially between different times of the year.

«We’re definitely seeing a shift to a more level schedule by day of the week among the big three network operators», said John Wickson, CEO of Hospitio, a travel industry consultancy. Using data provided by the airline industry data company Milanamos, John Wickson said American, Delta and United schedules this November 2022 have shifted an average of 165 flights per day to a fully level schedule for seven days a week. compared to 2019. «This may not sound like much, but it’s an average daily reduction of 28% in the typical day’s deviation from a full-level schedule», said John Wickson. Five of the seven weekdays in November 2022 will have a number of flights closer to the overall average number of flight operations of the Big Three carriers. per day of 11,799 than in 2019, said the Executive Director of Hospitio.

The adjustments are consistent with comments made by United Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines executives during recent 3Q2022 earnings calls. Carriers stated that the peak demand during Thanksgiving will be less concentrated in one or two days this year and instead more evenly distributed during the holiday week. A similar pattern is appearing in winter vacation bookings, as the many travelers no longer confined to an office extend travel and work from wherever they happen to be.

The changing demand was also clearly on display in September 2022 when airlines reported that the usual sharp drop in leisure flights did not materialize. «It doesn’t feel like summer is over, it’s so strong», said Patrick Quayle, United Airlines Global Network Senior Vice President, referring to demand from Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe for mid-9/2022.

United Airlines is making adjustments to facilitate these new travel patterns, it will appear on transatlantic flight schedules this winter, while some city pairs that previously would have seen service reduced to five times a week, will remain as daily services, the Director said. Commercial Andrew Nocella. The airline has also cushioned its schedule during normally slow early December 2022 by a couple of percentage points to handle more even demand patterns throughout the month.

American Airlines has seen a two percentage point change in daily traffic from peak business periods before 08:00 a.m. and after 04:00 p.m. to the periods between those hours. Chief Commercial Officer Vasu Raja said network planners have spotted growth in demand during normally quiet periods of the week, such as Wednesday nights and Thursday mornings.

Still, while the big three carriers have started to ease their schedules, not all airlines are implementing it. Allegiant Airlines has long increased and decreased its schedule by day of the week in a much steeper pattern than the Big Three carriers and has never relied on commercial traffic, only making those weekday differences more substantial.

An analysis of flight schedule data provided by OAG for the second full week of October 2022 shows that, globally, airlines reduced their participation in flights, relative to 2019, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, while the proportions increased slightly during the traditionally busy days of Friday and Sunday. However, on a normally slow Saturday, flight schedules were also tightened.

Rebecca Rowland, OAG Analyst and partner at UK-based consultancy Midas Aviation, said those figures point to the shift in participation towards leisure travel that the airline industry has experienced since the start of the pandemic. Airline Industry Analyst Bob Mann of R.W. Mann & Co. said each airline will respond to changing demand patterns according to its own business models and target customers. «The planning cycle used to be a heavy thing, an 18- to 24-month process. Now maybe it’s an 18- to 24-day process and then a month to implement it. I think the industry has really done a good job of accelerating the planning cycle», says Bob Mann.

Expansión vuelos LATAM Group

AW | 2022 10 31 15:20 | AIRLINES ROUTES

LATAM Airlines Brasil expande servicios en Brasil
Inicia operaciones São Paulo—Boston

AW-Latam Airlines Group

Expansion of LATAM Group flights

LATAM Airlines Brazil expands services in Brazil
Starts operations São Paulo—Boston

LATAM Airlines Group has announced the incorporation of sixteen domestic flights in Brazil; in Chile two domestic and two international routes; in Colombia, an international route; in Ecuador two international routes; in Peru it will restore two international routes. LATAM Airlines Brazil will start the São Paulo-Boston route.

LATAM Airlines Brazil focused much of its recovery on the domestic market in the last twelve months, adding twelve new destinations compared to 2019: Cascavel/CAC, Caxias do Sul/CXJ, Chapeco/XAP, Jericoacoara/JJD, Juazeiro do Norte/JDO, Juiz de Fora/IZA, Maringa/MGF, Monte Claros/MOC, Petrolina/PNZ, Presidente Prudente/PPB, Sinop/OPS, and Vitória da Conquista/VDC. In the international segment, LATAM continues to progressively add destinations, reaching a recovery of 78.4% (ASK) in flights to and from Brazil.

LATAM Airlines Brazil has resumed on Sunday 10/30 its flights between São Paulo/Guarulhos/GRU and Boston/BOS. With this route, the airline completes the return to all its direct destinations between Brazil and the United States that were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic: New York/JFK, Miami/MIA, Orlando/MCO and Boston/BOS. The route will operate three weekly frequencies (3Frq/S) on Boeing 787-9 aircraft with capacity for 300 passengers, Premium Business (30), Economy+ (57) and Economy (213).

The LATAM Brasil airline expects to develop up to 192 flights between Brazil and the United States by November 2022, which represents an increase of 305% in its offer of seats between the two countries compared to the same month of 2021. In addition to the opening of São Paulo/GRU—Boston/BOS, growth will be driven by the operations of the Fortaleza/FOR—Miami/MIA and São Paulo/GRU—Orlando/MCO routes and by the expansion of the São Paulo/GRU—Miami/MIA three weekly frequencies to ten (10Frq/S) and São Paulo/GGRU—New York/JFK from 3 weekly frequencies to seven weekly flights (7Frq/S).

For Aline Mafra, Director of Sales and Marketing of LATAM Brazil, the company has made progress in a sustainable recovery of the international market, after achieving operational efficiency and reinforcing its national operations: «Our strong point has always been connecting Brazil with the world, reaching direct to 26 international destinations. Boston is already our 21st overseas destination resumed and we have announced the return of direct flights to Johannesburg from July 2023».

On the other hand, LATAM Airlines Peru has announced the temporary termination of the Lima/LIM—Orlando/MCO route. LATAM Peru operated its last Orlando/MCO—Lima/LIM flight on October 28, 2022, citing operational problems; being the only airline that offered regular passenger service between the two cities. The airline operated its route to Orlando three times a week using Airbus A319 or A320 aircraft. Flight LPE2474 left Lima at 08:35 and arrived in Orlando at approximately 15:55. Flight LPE2473 returned to Lima and departed Orlando at 05:15 p.m. and arrived in Lima at approximately 10:30 p.m. LATAM Peru, a subsidiary of LATAM Airlines Group, had announced the suspension of service from Orlando in May 2022. The airline initially said earlier this year that service from Orlando would be suspended until June 14 of next year, but in a update, the airline indicated that flights would resume in March 2023.

Along with the suspension announcement, LATAM Peru provided some alternatives to passengers who had booked the route. The airline said passengers can still get to Orlando from Lima via the São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil with flights operating on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Affected passengers are also extended a free airport transfer from Orlando International Airport/MCO to Miami International Airport/MIA on flights operated by LATAM Airlines. Thanks to LATAM Airlines’ partnership with Delta Air Lines, additional alternatives are available. Next week, passengers will also have the option of arriving in Orlando via Miami. Delta Air Lines will begin nonstop service on November 6, 2022 from Miami to Orlando using an Airbus A319. Delta Air Lines has announced that it is developing a greater presence in South America with the announcement of a 20% share purchase agreement in LATAM Airlines Group in 2019, launching its partnership between the airlines.
