Air France-KLM devuelve otros mil millones por asistencia COVID
El grupo Air France-KLM ha anticipado los pagos por asistencia del Estado francés de € 1.000 millones de Euros. Este importe incluyen € 800 millones por la liquidación del tramo que vencía el 6 de Mayo de 2023 y € 200 millones del tramo con vencimiento el 6 de Mayo de 2024. El grupo aéreo había realizado un reembolso anticipado de € 500 millones de Euros en Diciembre de 2021.
Air France-KLM ha reembolsado de forma anticipada otros € 1.000 millones de Euros de los € 3.500 millones que tiene aún pendiente del préstamo respaldado por el Estado de Francia que le entregaron con motivo de la crisis Covid-19. La mejora en el desempeño operativo durante los primeros nueve meses del año ha permitido al grupo presidido por el CEO Ben Smith acelerar el repago de la financiación recibida, aunque en este sentido lleva considerable retraso en relación a Lufthansa y el IAG Group, aunque este último recibió menos ayudas.
La amortización anticipada anunciada tendrá una consecuencia inmediata: mejorará el perfil de la deuda de la compañía, lo que reducirá sus costes de intereses. Como está sucediendo actualmente con todas las aerolíneas, sus datos financieros confirman una fuerte mejora de los ingresos, de los resultados operativos y del flujo de caja libre, lo que permitió que la liquidez de Air France-KLM se aproxime a los € 10.000 millones de Euros. En este contexto, Air France-KLM ha llegado a un acuerdo con el Estado francés y el sindicato de nueve bancos participantes en la operación para proceder a la amortización anticipada de € 1.000 millones de Euros de los € 3.500 millones pendientes. Este importe incluye € 800 millones de Euros por la liquidación del tramo que vencía el 6 de Mayo de 2023 y € 200 millones de Euros del tramo con vencimiento el 6 de Mayo de 2024. En Diciembre de 2021, Air France-KLM ya había realizado un reembolso anticipado de € 500 millones de Euros de los € 4.000 millones de Euros pendientes inicialmente. Con esta amortización anticipada adicional quedan € 2.500 millones de Euros pendientes de pago.
Con esta deuda pendiente de cancelación, para el Air France-KLM Group supondrá que sigue en vigor la prohibición de comprar total o parcialmente cualquier otra aerolínea, por disposición europea. Esto tiene su importancia porque obliga al grupo a no aparecer como comprador de la italiana ITA Airways y TAP Air Portugal.

Air France-KLM returns another billion for COVID assistance
The Air France-KLM group has advanced assistance payments from the French State of € 1 billion. This amount includes € 800 million for the settlement of the tranche maturing on May 6, 2023 and € 200 million of the tranche maturing on May 6, 2024. The airline group had made an early repayment of € 500 million Euros in December of 2021.

The announced early repayment will have an immediate consequence: it will improve the company’s debt profile, which will reduce its interest costs. As is currently the case with all airlines, its financial data confirms a strong improvement in revenues, operating results and free cash flow, which has allowed Air France-KLM’s liquidity to approach € 10 billion. Euros. In this context, Air France-KLM has reached an agreement with the French State and the syndicate of nine banks participating in the operation to proceed with the early repayment of € 1,000 million of the € 3,500 million outstanding. This amount includes € 800 million Euros for the settlement of the tranche due May 6, 2023 and € 200 million Euros for the tranche due May 6, 2024. In December 2021, Air France-KLM had already made an early repayment of € 500 million Euros of the € 4,000 million Euros initially outstanding. With this additional early repayment, € 2,500 million remain pending payment.
With this debt pending cancellation, for the Air France-KLM Group it will mean that the prohibition to buy all or part of any other airline, by European provision, remains in force. This is important because it forces the group not to appear as a buyer of the Italian ITA Airways and TAP Air Portugal.
