Con el vuelo AR 1722 de Aerolíneas Argentinas, se estrenó este miércoles a la mañana la nueva torre. La obra que llevó adelante el Ministerio de Transporte de la Nación, por $35 millones de pesos, garantiza la máxima seguridad en los vuelos y las operaciones aéreas, para beneficio de los 900.000 pasajeros que recibe por año este aeropuerto, el sexto más transitado del país.

El Aeropuerto Cataratas del Iguazú estrenó hoy su nueva torre de control, al recibir a las 6.34 hs un vuelo de Aerolíneas Argentinas, luego de producirse el traspaso formal de las funciones y el equipamiento de la vieja a la nueva dependencia.

La antigua torre presentaba importantes limitaciones visuales, una altura insuficiente y un estado desmejorado en términos de espacio e instalaciones. La nueva torre, construida a 27 metros de altura, con ópticas visuales a 360° y equipamiento tecnológico de vanguardia, es una apuesta a la modernización en las operaciones aéreas de Iguazú transformando, además, sustancialmente las condiciones de trabajo de los operadores de tránsito aéreo, con espacios más amplios y confortables.

Las obras forman parte del plan que lleva adelante el Ministerio de Transporte de la Nación a partir de la inversión más importante que alguna vez se haya hecho en el sector aéreo para potenciar su desarrollo. Este plan integral incluye la modernización de la infraestructura en 19 aeropuertos del país, la incorporación de nueva tecnología de navegación aérea, nuevo equipamiento para la operación logística (servicios de aerohandling) y otras obras complementarias para mejorar la aviación civil. En total, se invertirán 22.000 millones de pesos durante los próximos tres años para todo el sector aéreo.

Para el aeropuerto de Iguazú el gobierno nacional prevé este año obras en la pista y en la terminal de pasajeros, que representarán otros $1000 millones de pesos de inversión.

“Esta es una muestra más de nuestra apuesta a nueva infraestructura y nueva tecnología, fundamentales para ampliar la capacidad de nuestros aeropuertos. Queremos duplicar la cantidad de argentinos que vuelan y que el sector aerocomercial crezca, generando más trabajo de calidad y mejorando la conectividad dentro del país, para que haya más turismo, una industria estratégica para el crecimiento de la Argentina”, dijo Guillermo Dietrich, Ministro de Transporte.

Entre las 00:00 y las 05:00 am el aeropuerto permaneció cerrado para proceder al traspaso de los circuitos de voz y datos operativos de una torre a la otra. Asimismo, se trasladó instrumental meteorológico con el cual se mide la dirección e intensidad de los vientos, y la presión atmosférica, valores esenciales para la operación de aeronaves.
