Al inaugurar su nuevo Centro de Entrenamiento, ubicado en Miami, la compañía aseguró que en la última década, la demanda de aeronaves con turbopropulsores se ha duplicado en la región, motivo por el que era necesario contar con esta nueva infraestructura.

En 2016, por ejemplo, Argentina y México fueron las principales naciones que demandaron más aeronaves, al sumar 20 pedidos en conjunto, de un total global de 36 unidades.

Mientras que, Avian Lineas Aéreas, subsidiaria de Avianca, solicitó 12 aviones ATR 72-600; mientras que para México se espera el ingreso de ocho unidades (2 ATR 42-600 y 6 ATR 72-600), para la aerolínea Aeromar.

Esta última invirtió 205 millones de dólares para la ampliación de la flota, la cual estará volando en territorio nacional durante el primer semestre del año.

Andrés Fabre, director general de Aeromar, señaló recientemente que se analiza la posibilidad de adquirir otras seis aeronaves durante 2017, siempre y cuando las condiciones del mercado lo permitan. De realizar dicha operación, la empresa estaría invirtiendo un total de 365 millones de dólares sólo en la renovación de su flota.

El nuevo Centro de Capacitación cuenta con un nuevo simulador de vuelo para la serie de aeronaves ATR 600, el cual tendrá como objetivo orientar a los actuales y futuros operadores regionales.

Además, se contempla la aplicación de los mismos cursos de capacitación que en Toulouse, incluyendo la Navegación basada en el desempeño (PBN) para ATR-600.

«Debido a la expansión global del transporte aéreo, se espera que las aerolíneas necesiten 600 mil nuevos pilotos en los próximos 20 años. Como referencia mundial en el mercado regional, tenemos que proporcionar y anticipar soluciones para los operadores regionales”, dijo Christian Scherer, director ejecutivo de ATR.

Actualmente, dichos espacios ofrecen más de 100 mil horas de formación y entrena a más de 3 mil 500 pilotos al año en sus diferentes programas. Este será el quinto centro que tiene ATR en el mundo.
