TagAirlines oficializa entrada formal a IATA

TagAirlines, la aerolínea bandera de Guatemala recibió formalmente la membresía que la acredita como nuevo integrante de la Asociación Internacional de Transporte Aéreo (IATA). En la ceremonia realizada en el Aeropuerto Internacional Guatemala/La Aurora de la capital guatemalteca, Peter Cerda, Vicepresidente para las Américas de esta organización internacional, hizo entrega de la membresía a Julio Gamero, CEO de TagAirlines.

Julio Gamero agradeció la distinción y dijo que TagAirlines refrenda su firme compromiso con la conectividad aérea en Centroamérica y el sur de México. Destacó que la aerolínea tiene una trayectoria de más de sesenta años de impulsar la aviación comercial y el desarrollo en la región. Resaltó que la membresía oficial a la asociación representa un importante reconocimiento al trabajo realizado durante seis décadas y especialmente a la labor de modernización de la empresa que se ha impulsado durante los dos últimos años bajo el liderazgo de Marcela Toriello, presidenta del Consejo de Administración de TagAirlines.

Julio Gamero dijo que esta membresía compromete a mantener los más altos estándares internacionales de calidad en todas sus operaciones, para beneficio de los pasajeros. Agradeció la labor que realizan diariamente los 470 colaboradores de la empresa en los cinco países en los que tiene operaciones: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Belice y el sur de México.

Por su parte Peter Cerda señaló que TagAirlines ha sido una pieza clave en la conectividad aérea en la región de Centroamérica y el sur de México. La aviación comercial es un importante motor para la economía global pues genera el 4 por ciento de la economía en la región de Centroamérica y alrededor de 400.000 empleos en el sector.

La ceremonia oficial contó con la presencia de David Hernández, gerente para Centroamérica de la IATA y Evelyn Escobar, en representación de Anayansy Rodríguez, Directora General del Instituto Guatemalteco de Turismo (INGUAT), entre otros invitados especiales.

La IATA es la principal organización global de aerolíneas, que facilita la transacción de 780 millones de boletos aéreos anuales alrededor del mundo, lo que representa más de 270 billones de dólares anuales. Tiene más de 50 oficinas en el mundo y ofrece servicios en 170 países. La asociación fue fundada 1945 y actualmente cuenta con 302 miembros, que en su conjunto representan el 83 por ciento del tráfico aéreo total. La IATA es el instrumento para la cooperación entre aerolíneas que promueve la seguridad, la confianza y la economía en el transporte aéreo global.

Recientemente, la IATA también le entregó a TagAirlines la Certificación IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit), que es un mecanismo conocido y aceptado internacionalmente, diseñado para evaluar la gestión de los sistemas operativos, de seguridad y de control de aerolíneas. La Certificación IOSA permite ampliar la red de alianzas comerciales con aerolíneas que son miembros de IATA, códigos compartidos e interlineales.

TagAirlines, the Guatemala flag airline formally received the membership that accredits it as the new member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). At the ceremony held at the Guatemala International Airport/La Aurora of the Guatemalan capital, Peter Cerda, vice President for the Americas of this international organization, delivered the membership to Julio Gamero, CEO of TagAirlines.

Julio Gamero said that this membership commits to maintain the highest international quality standards in all its operations, for the benefit of passengers. He thanked the work carried out by the 470 collaborators of the company in the five countries in which it has operations: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and southern Mexico.
