Aerolínea reduce su programación de vuelos
Low cost había solicitado ayuda financiera al Gobierno

El impacto de la crisis de aviación que atraviesa Colombia continúa con un nuevo capítulo con la aerolínea Ultra Air que ha anunciado la suspensión de venta de pasajes y la cancelación de su programación de vuelos. Ultra Air ha cancelado este Jueves 23/03 varios de sus vuelos. Además, pausó la venta de tiquetes aéreos hasta el 30 de Abril de 2023 para reorganizar sus operaciones y la Superintendencia de Transporte adoptó medidas para evitar que los problemas económicos que afectan a esa compañía terminen afectando a sus clientes y proveedores. “La aerolínea suspenderá la venta de tiquetes hasta el 30 de Abril con el fin de reorganizar la operación para así cumplirle a los pasajeros y evitar contratiempos”, expresó la compañía Ultra Air.

Aeronáutica Civil de Colombia (Aerocivil), la agencia fiscalizadora de la aviación en Colombia ha emitido un comunicado dictando medidas “debido a que la aerolínea presenta baja liquidez, lo cual dificulta el compromiso con las obligaciones a corto plazo, generando un riesgo de incumplimiento con sus acreedores”. El Ministerio de Transporte exigió que Ultra Air presente cómo seguirá su funcionamiento diario, de rutas, aeronaves y tripulación de cada viaje, además de garantizar los vuelos emitidos en caso de suspender sus operaciones. La Aerocivil encargada del funcionamiento del mercado aeronáutico, explicó en un comunicado que “constató que la empresa Ultra Air continúa volando, con una reducción parcial en su capacidad por motivos técnicos. Mantenemos un seguimiento prioritario a la situación generada por las afectaciones que se pudieran haber presentado en las últimas horas, derivadas de las operaciones de la aerolínea Ultra Air”.

El Presidente de la compañía, William Shaw, ha expresado que la situación financiera ha superado los pasivos. “Los indicadores financieros de la compañía no son muy diferentes a los de muchas aerolíneas en el mundo en este último año. La situación de Viva nos ha puesto a nosotros bajo mucha presión con los proveedores actuales, están nerviosos, muchos de ellos nos están pidiendo prepago de combustible, prepago de servicios y demás”.

La aerolínea de bajo costo, que tiene rutas entre diez ciudades colombianas y una participación del 8% del mercado colombiano en apenas un año de funcionamiento, enfrenta dificultades económicas desde hace varias semanas. Tras algunas declaraciones periodísticas sobre la situación delicada de la compañía Ultra Air, la aerolínea emitió un comunicado desmintiendo la información. “Ultra Air está respaldada por inversionistas sólidos que creen en el proyecto de la compañía y que son conscientes de los retos actuales del sector”.

Los problemas de Ultra Air se enmarcan en una serie de movimientos más amplios del sector aeronáutico en Colombia. Este Miércoles 22/03 se supo que fracasó la posibilidad de que la aerolínea chilena JetSMART Airlines Group, la tercera más grande de ese país comprara Ultra Air. En un documento explicó que, tras analizar los detalles de la operación, desistió de su intención de compra de Ultra Air. Ultra Air argumentó ante la Aerocivil que esas dos aerolíneas operaban en conjunto, definiendo rutas y tarifas de manera irregular.

Inversionistas
