Calificación negativa a Boeing

AW-Icon AW001

US airlines pilot the Boeing industrial crisis

Thanks to the economic boom of the United States and the strong demand for tickets, the airlines weather the crisis of the American aircraft manufacturer, beset by the crisis of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

American Airlines informed the earnings call meeting on Thursday 23/01 that the high number of travelers generated record revenues in the fourth quarter (4Q2019), but company executives warned that they will need to postpone the possible use of the 737 again MAX of your fleet. In light of the Boeing announcements, the Chief Executive of American Airlines, Doug Parker, estimated that the use of the MAX would be possible in late summer or early fall (3Q2020), meaning that the aircraft will not be available for the Summer vacation period. Earnings in the last quarter of last year rose 27.4% to $ 414 million. Turnover increased by 3.4%, to US$ 11.3 billion. Previously, the US airline had estimated that the MAX crisis would cost US$ 540 million of gross earnings in 2019 due to the thousands of flights it had to cancel.

Southwest Airlines, the largest client of the 737 MAX line, reported a fall in earnings in the fourth quarter (4Q2019) despite slightly higher revenues. Meanwhile, it reported that its quarterly earnings fell from 21.4%, to US$ 514 million, while revenues rose slightly 0.5%, to US$ 5.7 billion.

Negative Boeing rating

S&P Global Ratings on Thursday placed Boeing’s «A-» credit rating on «credit surveillance» with negative implications, citing an increase in costs and cash outflows of the US aircraft manufacturer due to a new delay in the recertification of 737 MAX to ground. The rating agency said it expects Boeing’s operating funds to the debt ratio to fall below 30% in 2020, following the announcement of the aircraft manufacturer earlier this week that the 737 MAX will not get approval for a return service until the middle of this year.

On Wednesday 22/01, Fitch Ratings also reduced Boeing’s outlook to Negative from Stable, and affirmed the company’s credit rating at “A-,” citing regulatory risk with respect to the time of return to service of the Boeing 737 MAX. AW-Icon AW002

Boeing hoja limpia Proyecto NMA

AW-779770NMAAW | 2020 01 23 16:55 | INDUSTRY

AW-Icon AW001

american-airlines-boeing-797-fsx1Boeing clean sheet NMA Project

Boeing-Logo.svgBoeing has announced that the NMA Project would be activated again

The Boeing Company is taking a new look at the design of its so-called New Middle-Market Airplane (NMA) due to changes in the global aviation market and the greater focus on interactions between pilots and airplanes. «We will probably take a different approach. We’re going to start with a clean sheet of paper, again», Boeing Executive President David Calhoun said on January 22, 2020.

AW-A321-NMA

David Calhoun has provided few details about the NMA, saying that the company’s main focus remains on existing products, starting with the 737 MAX, and improving the company’s safety and engineering functions, but cites changes in the market as a reason for the reevaluation of the NMA. «Things have changed a bit. The competitive playing field is a bit different. We have to plan for China», says Boeing CEO.

Boeing proposed the NMA several years ago and had anticipated that the plane would carry around 270 seats, reach 4,000-5,000nm (7,400-9,300km) and enter service in the mid-2020s, just in time for the Withdrawal of the 757 and 767 fleets. But the development of NMA has apparently been frozen since the grounding of the 737 MAX in March 2019. Meanwhile, Airbus intervened and launched the A321XLR last year. That plane has proven to be hugely popular with airlines and has taken years of advantage in sales and market.

Boeing recognizes that the NMA’s design should focus on the flight control system and how pilots interact with that system, a topic highlighted by the 737 MAX crashes. «We might have to start with the flight control philosophy before arriving at the plane. Design decisions related to pilots flying planes are very important for the regulator and for us to understand«, Calhoun says of the development of NMA. AW-Icon AW002

Boeing revisa software LEAP en 737 MAX

Image result for leap-1b Boeing 737 MAXAW | 2020 01 23 16:28 | AVIATION SAFETY / INDUSTRY

AW-Icon AW001

Image result for leap-1b Boeing 737 MAXBoeing reviews LEAP software on the 737 MAX

Image result for cfm leap logoBoeing has reviewed the 737 MAX engine software to address the loss of thrust due to icing

Boeing 737 MAX operators should be instructed to update the Engine Control Software to address a problem of thrust loss, attributed to ice formation in CFM International LEAP-1B engines. At least two cases have been investigated in which the LEAP-1B suffered a temporary loss of thrust control as a result of ice formation in the engine pressure lines, states the European Union Air Safety Agency (EASA). This is necessary despite a previous software update that was introduced after a similar problem affected the LEAP-1A engine for the Airbus A320NEO family. The analysis instances of the LEAP-1A engine that cannot accelerate to reach the target thrust during takeoff have led to an analysis that determined that water could accumulate and freeze within the lines or system of the pressure sensor, which could lead to erroneous pressure readings by the engine digital control with full authority.

CFM developed a new electronic engine control software to handle erroneous readings more effectively, and this was applied not only to LEAP-1A but also to the LEAP-1B version. But EASA says there was a loss of thrust control related to ice formation in LEAP-1B that had already been updated with the revised software. Since then, CFM has reviewed the software to improve the detection and accommodation of erroneous pressure readings, and EASA will require 737 MAX operators to modify the operating software configuration.

The change is among a series of updates to the airworthiness limitations section of the LEAP-1B engine workshop manual. This revision improves the inspection of the high-pressure turbine rotor discs of stage two, as a precaution against non-contained faults, after the discovery of an anomaly below the surface in a part manufactured with the same disc alloy. It also adapts the instructions for inspections of the static structure of the high-pressure turbine after incidents related to the coking of the fuel nozzle and thermal distress, says EASA, and updates the inspection and in-service limits to address failures of the radial transmission shaft bearing cage. AW | 2020 01 23 16:13 | INDUSTRY

Image result for Boeing 737 MAXSOUTHWEST AIRLINES POSEE UNA FLOTA DE 34 BOEING 737 MAX EN TIERRA

AW-Icon AW001

Boeing 737 MaxBoeing 737 MAX by process evaluation

Boeing-Logo.svgThe 737 MAX delayed by certification process line

The new delay for the recertification of Boeing 737 MAX is not due to new technical problems. Boeing’s decision was not due to any new technical problems, Senior Marketing Executive Darren Hulst said today at the Airline Economic aircraft financing conference in Dublin, Ireland. «It was just our evaluation of the process, the progress, and the timeline», said Darren Hulst.

Sheila Kahyaoglu, the Jefferies Analyst, says that Boeing may now need to increase its compensation package for customers by another US$ 10 billion and revise its cost estimate related to the production of 737 MAX by an additional US$ 5.4 billion.

The company has already reserved US$ 9 billion in costs related to grounding, including US$ 5.6 billion as compensation for airline customers and US$ 3.6 billion in charges to cover additional production costs. Vertical Research analysts expect Boeing’s next results to be «an absolute disaster, and that now seems to be guaranteed. We do not see that Boeing is in a position to increase cash returns for shareholders until 2022», he said.

Airline costs

Southwest Airlines is perhaps the most economically impaired airline with the grounding of the 737 MAX aircraft fleet. The 737 MAX disconnection cost Southwest US$ 828 million in 2019. Southwest Airlines reported a sharp decline in earnings in the fourth quarter due to the continued grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX. He said he will seek additional compensation from Boeing as the problem is expected to extend until 2020.

Southwest owns 34 of the 737 MAX aircraft, more than any other airline, and expected to end the year with 75 of the aircraft before the end of the year before the grounding stopped deliveries of new aircraft. Boeing (BA) and Southwest reached a confidential compensation agreement at the end of the year. «We will continue discussions with Boeing regarding further compensation», said Southwest CEO Gary Kelly. Much of the compensation will come in the form of reduced prices on future purchases of Boeing, the company said.

The airline has eliminated around 330-midweek flights from its schedule due to grounding. It has canceled flights only until the beginning of June 2020, but in light of Boeing’s new guidance on when the plane’s flight will be approved, Southwest expects additional cancellations for much of 3Q2020.

AW-Dallasnews_7088

American Airlines, the world’s largest airline and another 737 MAX customer, also reported results on Thursday but was able to achieve a US$ 54 million increase in profits in the quarter after excluding single items and an increase in US earnings. US$ 62 million during the course of the year American does not depend so much on 737 MAX or earlier versions of 737 as Southwest. American owns 24 Boeing 737 MAX at the time of grounding. There are also 13 additional 737 MAX airplanes built for American since the grounding waiting to be delivered, and American said it expects to complete those deliveries by the end of the year so it can remove older and less efficient airplanes. But that is only half of the additional 737 MAX aircraft that American expected to receive from Boeing at the end of 2020 before the grounding was made. American did not itemize the cost of grounding in his earnings report on Thursday 23/01, but in October 2019 he said he expected the grounding to reduce his pre-tax income throughout the year by US$ 540 million.

American also reached an agreement with Boeing to compensate for the ground connection. «While we cannot disclose details of the agreement, US shareholders should know that the agreement reflects our priority to ensure that our shareholders are adequately compensated with real value for the extended land», the CEO of United States, Doug Parker, to the analysts. He also said that American will seek greater compensation for the grounding that will last until 2020.

MAX 737 line production

Boeing says that 737 MAX production will resume before mid-year. CEO Dave Calhoun said Boeing does not plan to scrap the 737 MAX despite repeated technical concerns about the plane. «I am totally involved and the company is involved, the Executive President Dave Calhoun told reporters on Wednesday 22/01. Programa E3

AW-Icon AW001

Boeing-Embraer-LogoBoeing-Embraer continue to strengthen the agreement to activate the turboprop E3 Program

The Boeing Company and Embraer S.A. They continue to study a new regional turboprop aircraft in planning their likely future joint venture partner. «Boeing is familiar with Embraer’s current study for the development of a new turboprop. We look forward to reviewing the business case and are excited about the possibility of this new aircraft being developed and produced within our planned joint venture», he said. a spokesman for Boeing.

E3 program

E3 ProgramThe President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aircraft, John Slattery, points out that the E3 Program could see the light coming into service in late 2025 or early 2026 for a renewal of turboprop aircraft for the world market. Slattery said at the Air Finance Journal Dublin 2020 conference that the company will be able to present the business plan soon to start the deadlines for the start of series production by the American builder.

Embraer is studying a family of two-member turboprops at the upper end of the market that could be complemented by a third smaller variant at a later stage that may have hybrid power. The aircraft will have the appearance of an Embraer E2. Engine manufacturers will propose engine options that will offer significant operating cost savings in cash compared to existing engines.

Boeing Brasil Commercial

Embraer has dedicated great efforts to the project while preparing for the transition of its commercial aircraft business to the joint venture Boeing Brasil-Commercial. John Slattery said the project can only happen within the joint venture since Embraer alone will not be able to finance the large investment needed. In Slattery’s opinion, a new aircraft would provide much-needed new competition in the turboprop market where ATR has an effective monopoly.

European Commission

Meanwhile, Embraer and Boeing are still awaiting approval from the European Commission for the joint venture, a process that is now likely to be carried forward in the second quarter of 2020. The project received unconditional regulatory approval from eight out of ten competition authorities. necessary.

Competitiveness

ATR’s comment is in line with Embraer’s position that its link with Boeing is good for the competition, as it allows both of them to expand their product portfolio, just as Airbus did through the acquisition of the former CSeries of Bombardier Inc. and its participation in ATR Aircraft.

The 2025/26 commissioning schedule for E3 is crucial where several airlines will be about to make the decision to replace the old turboprops at that time. In addition, Embraer assumes that electric hybrid airplanes could be viable on regional routes around 2035, which gives the manufacturer only about ten years to recover the investment before the arrival of a new competitor. The manufacturer also believes that ATR will react with a new plane if Embraer continues with the launch. AW-Icon AW002

AW-Icon AW001

AW-77700777Boeing delays inaugural flight 777-9X

Boeing-Logo.svgBoeing has delayed the first flight of its 777-9 aircraft due to weather conditions

On Wednesday, January 22, 2020, The Boeing Company had informed that the inaugural flight of the Boeing 777-9X was scheduled for this Thursday, 23/01. The new wide-body aircraft of the American company had to fly at 10 a.m. Local time (1 p.m. ET) on Thursday 23/01 at the Boeing assembly line facilities near Everett, Washington.

The world’s largest twin-engine passenger plane was destined to fly for the first time. With larger engines, the 777X will be the largest twin-engine commercial aircraft with more than 400 passengers. The 777X Program has been hampered by delays on several occasions. Deliveries of the 777X have already been postponed from the summer of 2020 to 2021 by Boeing due to problems with the huge GE9X engines, and more recently with the cargo door.

777X market trend

AW-777-9X

The Boeing 777X is obsessed with positioning itself as the market’s favorite aircraft, displacing the production of four-engine aircraft worldwide, including the Boeing 747 passenger variant and the superjumbo Airbus A380. Airlines have chosen to buy larger, more reliable and fuel-efficient twin-engine aircraft for long-haul routes.

The 777X is the next-generation variant of the successful 777 Program that was initially developed in the 1990s and operates with airlines around the world, often cited as one of the safest long-distance passenger aircraft ever built. The most distinctive feature of the 777X is the tips of the folding wings of the aircraft that allow greater fuel efficiency during the flight while retracting upwards on the airport platforms to allow the aircraft to maneuver without runway limitations, taxiways and parking required.

Reprogramming first flight

Boeing will now schedule the huge plane to possibly take off tomorrow, January 24, 2020, depending on weather conditions. The bad weather delayed the flight that was originally scheduled to fly today 23/01.

The first flight is now delayed, possibly until January 24, 2020. It was originally scheduled for 01/23 at 10 a.m. PST (1 pm EST). The weather near Everett on Thursday shows rain throughout the day, changing between light rain and constant rain between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. local time when the test flight was scheduled. However, according to weather.com, rain is also expected in the Everett area on January 24, 2020, the possible new date of the first flight. AW-Icon AW002

Boeing-Logo.svgDeclaration on the postponement of the service of the Boeing 737 MAX

The Boeing Company has issued a statement stressing that together with the FAA and other global regulators, it will determine when the Boeing 737 MAX will return to the commercial service. However, in order to help our customers and suppliers plan their operations, we provide periodically with our best estimate of when the regulators will begin to authorize the launch of the Boeing 737 MAX.

AW-B737-8MAXWe are informing our customers and suppliers that we are currently estimating that the 737 MAX ungrounding will begin in mid-2020. This updated estimate is informed by our experience to date with the certification process. It is subject to our ongoing attempts to address known programming risks and additional developments that may arise in relation to the recertification process. It also explains the rigorous scrutiny that regulatory authorities are correctly applying at each stage of their examination of the MCAS Flight Control System of 737 MAX and the process of the Joint Operations Evaluation Board, which determines the pilot training requirements.

Returning 737 MAX safely to service is our number one priority, and we are sure it will happen. We recognize and regret the continuing difficulties that the grounding of the 737 MAX has presented to our customers, our regulators, suppliers and the public in flight. We will provide additional information on our efforts to safely return the Boeing 737 MAX for service in connection with our quarterly financial disclosures next week.

Perspective

The FAA control bodies, JATR, among others, are plotting the new estimated deadlines where the Boeing 737 MAX evaluation and correction tests could be completed by 3Q2020, which is a postponement of the aerospace company’s expectations.

Within the aviation industry, the significant delay in returning to 737 MAX will involve adjustments within the aeronautical industries. The measures taken in Boeing are to continue with the staff of employees; but the biggest impact is the recent subsidiaries or companies that work for Boeing, such as Spirit AeroSystems that have announced the dismissal of employees.

Boeing has suspended the production of the 737 MAX line and almost in parallel has completed the manufacturing process of the 737 Next Generation line, so the American builder has run out of development options in the narrowbodies line.

The result of the estimates of returning to 737 MAX by mid-2020 onwards will cause a drought of necessary products for the airlines. This shortage will impact large companies with the risk of impacting the air market where it could be modified. US airlines are eliminating 737 MAX programming for the second half of 2020 and studying airline purchases or alliances to reduce the lack of aircraft to continue growing. AW-Icon AW002

Ξ 50º años Boeing 747 en servicio Ξ

AW-PanAm 747 Mick-West-airlinersAW | 2020 01 22 14:24 | INDUSTRY

Ξ 50th Boeing 747 in service Ξ

The Boeing 747 celebrates 50 years in service

The Boeing Company celebrates on January 22, 2020, 50th Anniversaries of service of the Boeing 747. The «Queen of the Skies», the «Jumbo» as they have been nicknamed the colossus of the air mark this 22/01 half a century in uninterrupted service of the world’s airlines. The launch customer, Pan American Airways, operated the first commercial service with the Boeing 747-100 between New York/JFK Airport and London/Heathrow Airport on January 22, 1970.

Jumbo beginnings

Production of the first Boeing 747 began in 1968, the first test flights took place in February 1969. At the end of the 1960s, Boeing thought they would end up selling around 400 due to the burgeoning supersonic market such as the Concorde that would make 747 a redundant aircraft, but it would soon exceed all expectations by becoming an emblematic aircraft in the world.

Pan Am Airways and Trans World Airways (TWA) each received the Boeing 747-100 in December 1969. The plane posed a major challenge for both the airlines and the host airports. During the night, both airlines owned planes that were more than twice as large as any other aircraft in their fleets. Among other things, Pan Am struggled to complete demonstration evacuations within the required deadlines. For airports, the arrival of 747 posed similar challenges to the arrival of the Airbus A380.

Pan Am had cleared all its obstacles for the first flight of the Boeing 747-100, registration N735PA, the first departure of a 747 in the world. Pan Am’s first scheduled passenger flight at 7:30 p.m. on January 21, 1960, was delayed at the departure gate due to engine problems. Six hours later, and using the second 747 of Pan Am, N736PA, took off from New York/JFK Airport at 2:00 AM on January 22, 1960, along with 345 passengers landing in London that same day on the other side of the Atlantic by the late.

747 exceeding expectations

AW-700080888

Since that time, the Boeing 747 has flown more than 57 billion nautical miles and transported more than 5.9 billion people. The capture and adaptation of the plane were fast. During 1970, another 13 airlines received their first Boeing 747 and the plane would become the long-term pillar of many long-distance fleets. Japan Airlines had soon become the largest customer of the air colossus with a line of 106 units over forty years, ending its last flight in 2011. The 747 launch airline, Pan Am, no longer exists. But some of those 13 customers who took 747 in 1970 still fly later models of the plane, including British Airways and Lufthansa Airlines.

Resultado de imagen para boeing 747 png"

Boeing historian Mike Lombardi has said in a statement: “In the last 50 years, 747 has become legendary, today it is a bridge to a romantic era of flight, an era that we must continue to aspire to resurrect. But more than that, 747 is a reminder of the power of the human spirit and what we can achieve with our hearts, minds and hard work. It reminds us that although we can lose hope in a world that seems to be full of conflict, we can look back at the sky and see those great steles of the Queen of Skies crossing the heavens and know that we can still overcome great adversity and achieve incredible things».

The beloved Boeing 747 has marked many successes through its success story since its inception since the late 1960s. The Boeing 747 is perhaps the best example of a promising model for its time, but of future incentive in the airlines. The future of the Boeing 747 could be reaching the end of its useful life in a market with new challenges, forecasting modest sales in the cargo variant of the Boeing 747-8F.

Pan Am received its first 747-100 on January 15, 1970. Since then, Boeing has built until the end of November 2019 1,557 Boeing 747, and around 500 still fly today. Jumbo’s special silhouette is soon becoming a rarer sight at major airports around the world. Times change as does the market, but the history of the Boeing 747 will continue in the collective memory as the great colossus of the air, that called Jumbo, the Queen of Skies.
