El Aeropuerto de El Palomar concreta su primer año de operaciones aerocomerciales
El Aeropuerto Internacional El Palomar ha cumplido su primer año de operaciones aerocomerciales siendo la tercera aeroestación del área metropolitana de Buenos Aires, junto con Aeroparque y Ezeiza. Las low cost han permitido el impulso de nuevas alternativas a Aeroparque a un costo más conveniente. El tráfico de pasajeros ha alcanzado la cifra de 764.000 personas.
El Aeropuerto El Palomar inició sus operaciones aerocomerciales el 9 Febrero 2018 con una habilitación apresurada, el rechazo de algunos vecinos y dificultades en los primeros vuelos por el clima. Pese a los escollos, el aeropuerto comercial ex-Base Aérea Militar de El Palomar cumplió su primer año como el tercer aeropuerto comercial del área metropolitana, con un crecimiento en las operaciones. Pensada como una terminal low cost aumentó el movimiento aerocomercial en Argentina. Con 32 operaciones diarias entre despegues y aterrizajes, el aeropuerto tiene categoría internacional.
El aeropuerto es administrado por Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 (AA2000), iniciando sus operaciones la aerolínea low cost Flybondi en Enero 2018, iniciando vuelos entre El Palomar-Córdoba y un mes después El Palomar-Bariloche y El Palomar-Tucumán. En algunos fines de semana largos se ubicó como el séptimo aeropuerto del país en cantidad de pasajeros, y al finalizar su primer año quedó en el décimo puesto.
El Aeropuerto El Palomar enlaza destinos a Santiago del Estero, Iguazú, Salta, Jujuy, Mendoza, Nequén, Posadas, Corrientes, Bahía Blanca. La etapa de vuelos internacionales comenzó en Diciembre 2018 con vuelos a Punta del Este y Asunción, ambos operados por Flybondi, y Santiago de Chile con JetSmart, la low cost que pertenece a un fondo de inversión de Estados Unidos. Esta empresa también confirmó que desde Abril 2019 conectará El Palomar-Mendoza, junto con otros destinos como Neuquén, Córdoba y Salta. En Mayo 2019 incorporará El Palomar-Bariloche.
