Aerolínea iraquí posee 16 órdenes Boeing 737 MAX

La aerolínea de bandera iraquí Iraqi Airways ha anunciado que ha tomado entrega del primer Boeing 737-8 MAX a su flota, dando la bienvenida al muevo modelo a la compañía. El avión de fuselaje estrecho, registro YI-ASL partió de Seattle el 24 de Febrero de 2023 realizando la trayectoria hacia Reykjavik (Islandia) y aterrizando en Bagdad el día 26/02. La orden establecida en 2020 ha permitido introducir un nuevo modelo de última generación. Las nuevas aeronaves de cuarta generación estarán configuradas en dos clases.

Iraqi Airways ha puesto en marcha un plan de renovación de la flota regional con la introducción de cuatro Airbus A220-300 (4) actualmente volando para la aerolínea y ha estrenado un Boeing 737-8 MAX (1) para operaciones de rutas de mediano rango. La actualización de la flota permitirá a la aerolínea mejorar su posición para restablecer sus operaciones en Europa suspendidas desde 2015, lo que le ha impedido operar vuelos hacia o desde los Estados miembros de la Agencia Europea de Seguridad Aérea (EASA).

Iraqi Airways espera recibir su primer Boeing 787 Dreamliner este año 2023, adicionales A220 y Boeing 737 MAX, como así también incorporar el 737-10 MAX entre 2024 y 2027.
