Imagen relacionadaThe Council of the European Union approves Security Aviation Certificates post-Brexit

Permanent representatives to the Council of the European Union have approved an agreement with the European Parliament on a draft resolution aimed at guaranteeing the continued validity of Aviation Security Certificates. The agreement, which will come into effect if the UK leaves the EU without a post-retirement agreement, extends the validity of such certificates for nine months, and potentially if necessary.

It will provide a window of time for the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to continue issuing the required certificates for certain aeronautical parts and products, as well as training certificates, taking into account the state of the United Kingdom as a third country. «The impact of [Brexit] on certificates and approvals can be remedied by many stakeholders through various measures», says the draft resolution.

But he says that, in some specific cases, such measures would not be possible. This is because the UK exit from the EU means that it will resume its status as a design state and will have to take responsibility for the tasks, including issuing type certificates and other approvals. This makes a temporary mechanism extend the validity of certain security certificates is necessary. The project of certifications is configured to be formally approved by the Council and the European Parliament. A \ W

Amaszonas Uruguay reduce operaciones

Amaszonas Uruguay faces financial and operational difficulties

The airline Amaszonas Uruguay reduces aero commercial operations by staying with a Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft in activity reducing to 50% the flights of its service network. The Uruguayan subsidiary has been running a deficit for some time and now opted to take drastic measures, suspending 36 workers. Claims support from the Uruguayan State to solve the fuel.

This week, the airline informed its workers of the decision to send 36 workers to the rotating unemployment insurance, since it will reduce the active aircraft from two to one from 1 March 2019. The main reason for the crisis would be the difficulties of face the fuel, which makes the operation of several routes unfeasible, which adds to a retraction of demand, as explained from the airline.

This warning has already been released in recent weeks from the Aeronautics Chamber and the private concessionaire of the Carrasco International Airport, before the withdrawal of airlines and the cut-off of the flight network of the main air terminal in the country. Amaszonas Línea Aérea anticipates the incorporation of Embraer 195 estimated for the second semester 2019, but the staff of 74 Amaszonas Uruguay workers will be reduced to 38 employees, leaving a daily flight from Montevideo to Buenos Aires, Asunción and Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

The President of Amaszonas, Sergio Urioste, explained the reasons for the bailing and asked the government for support measures with the price of fuel because it is the most expensive in the region. The businessman indicated that «the recession of the Argentine economy and the slow recovery of Brazil have spilled their throats on the air activity in Uruguay, which means that our flights suffer the occupation factor as well as the rates. to take a series of operative measures that, at the end, fall in the economic part», commented. The executive of Amaszonas said that his company «wants to continue betting on Uruguay, but we need support from the government and the State as a Uruguayan flag line, not only lowering the fuel, but also with some other type of subsidy», he complained. The directors of Amaszonas Uruguay indicated that the airline needs a clear support from the Uruguayan government to the only airline in the country to continue flying.

Uruguay it contracts

The airline Avianca Colombia will stop flying the Bogotá-Montevideo route next March 2019. The decision is part of the optimization and improvement of the route network in South America and the prioritization of services from other connections. Sky Airline also announced the cessation of operations on the Santiago-Montevideo route for April 22, 2019; focusing on operations towards Peru due to the increase in demand in that region. Some time ago, the Brazilian low cost airline Gol Linhas Aéreas left the Porto Alegre-Montevideo route.

Uruguay currently has connections in the region with airlines Latam Airlines and Azul Linhas Aéreas, the latter connecting Porto Alegre-Montevideo. A \ W

Embraer Vs Embraer

AW | 2019 02 22 15:21 | INDUSTRY

Boeing-Embraer-LogoNewCo could compete with the old Embraer

The agreement between the Brazilian Embraer and the American Boeing to create a third aircraft manufacturer, called NewCo, opens the possibility that the new company will compete with the old Embraer in the executive aviation market. A document sent to the Brazilian manufacturer’s investors opens space to compete in the executive aviation market.

The competition between the two companies is foreseen in the document «Manual and Proposal of the Administration for the participation in the Extraordinary General Assembly of Embraer», disclosed for the approval of the shareholders of the aircraft manufacturer in assembly next Tuesday, February 26, 2019 The document, of 284 pages, discusses the general terms of the negotiation between the two companies. In the chapter on the exchange of intellectual property of Embraer with NewCo, the text states that the two can jointly develop civil aircraft of up to 50 seats, a market occupied by executive aviation. In case of not reaching an agreement on the commercial strategy of the aircraft, NewCo «may launch said aircraft in isolation or with other partners, without prejudice to future agreements regarding new projects».

overview-Phenom300.jpgEMBRAER PHENOM 300

The possible competition caused a negative reaction from minority investors of Embraer. The fear is that the measure will open space for the transfer of intellectual property from Embraer to NewCo and the devaluation of the Brazilian company’s stock over time. The measure opens space for Boeing to use intellectual property of Embraer. «That is bad for the Brazilian company, bad for the shareholders and bad for the national economy», says Aurelio Valporto, president of the Brazilian Association of Investors (ABRADIN), a body critical of the negotiations.

At the beginning of the year, the entity moved a Public Civil Action in the justice of São Paulo calling for the cancellation of the agreement between Embraer and Boeing. ABRADIN sent a complaint to the Federal Public Ministry in Sao Paulo in an attempt to paralyze the general assembly of investors marked for next Tuesday.

The document currently available to Embraer investors, however, does not bring all the details of the agreement between the Brazilian and US companies. The clauses remain secret. And, in them, there may be some stipulating the non-competition between Embraer and NewCo. The non-competition commitment between a joint venture and its partners (in the case, NewCo-Embraer or NewCo-Boeing) is relatively common. The confidentiality of clauses like this is also the standard, says lawyer Ricardo Botelho, specialist in competitive law at the Marchini Botelho Caselta Advogados office in São Paulo.

The press office of Embraer says that it does not comment clauses of the agreement with Boeing. The positioning of the company is that «Embraer has kept the market constantly informed of the negotiations and developments related to the transaction with Boeing, complying with all the rules regarding the disclosure of information».

As cláusulas permanecem secretas.

Airbus is formalizing first order agreements for the A321XLR

Airbus has begun to align tentative orders for a longer-range version of the A321XLR (eXtra Long Range). The European firm is in detailed discussions with airlines about the price and the longer-range design calendar, known as A321XLR, and has scored on some orders subject to a formal launch, which is expected for this year, industry sources said.

Probing market A321XLR

AW-7000888

Airbus is looking to probe the competitive market against Boeing on whether to develop a new model in a highly contested niche or strengthen the existing one. Airbus is looking for 200-300 orders before committing to build the A321XLR, in a move that would limit the space available for a mid-market alternative that Boeing hopes to launch in a gap between medium and long-haul aircraft. «Each A321XLR that Airbus sells means a potential sale less for the NMA», an industry source said. A spokesman for Airbus said the planes manufacturer is «always talking to customers» and declined to comment further.

Airbus wants to address the business case of the Boeing 797 with its new A321XLR. That new plane named NMA will replace lines 757/767, but its completely new design is much more expensive to develop. The European aircraft manufacturer is still in discussion with other companies. These are preliminary orders, which can be easily canceled if Airbus decides not to develop the A321XLR. It is not known which airlines have already signed up for the plane.

Market Expectation A321XRL

The A321XLR is the same size as the other A321, but has an even greater flight range of 8,700 kilometers. The market characteristics will correspond to a Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTW) increased by 100 tons. Analysts expect Airbus to officially launch the A321XLR this year 2019. A \ W

4583064192_5646bdb37d_b.jpgThailand would recover CAT1

Thailand accelerates momentum to regain FAA category 1 qualification

Thailand after almost four years, the CAT1 safety rating had been canceled by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States. The Southeast Asian country has accelerated efforts to address a variety of oversight and other shortcomings in an attempt to re-establish its former position with the FAA. Regaining Category 1 status would allow airlines registered in Thailand to launch new routes to the US and participate in codeshare agreements with operators based in the United States.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), the FAA conducted a technical review of the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) from February 11 to 15, 2019 to assess the country’s ability to comply with regulations. of security established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The FAA contingent, led by team leader Benjamin Garrido and four team members, identified 26 safety issues. The Thai authorities did not give details about the findings, but said they have already started addressing many of the shortcomings.

While Thai officials express optimism that the country can regain Category 1 status after its next inspection, numerous audits in recent years have raised a number of issues, particularly with respect to regulatory oversight, the granting of new Air operator certificates (AOC), pilots’ qualifications and A shortage of qualified personnel. In June 2015, ICAO marked the country with a label of significant safety concern (SSC) for not maintaining international standards. Two months later, the FAA downgraded Thailand to Category 2 due to similar concerns.

ICAO raised the red flag against Thailand in 2017, paving the way for Thai operators to expand their international networks; However, the FAA downgrade remains in place. Since then, the CAAT has devised a series of aviation master plans and has made several revisions to its procedures for granting AOC.

Even if Thailand successfully recovers Category 1 status, the highly competitive market in the United States and Southeast Asia presents its own set of challenges for Thai operators given the distance, cost and weak demand for direct air travel between the two. countries If Thai airlines start service beyond code-sharing agreements, they will have to compete against airlines such as Philippine Airlines, which offers non-stop flights to five destinations, and Singapore Airlines, which flies non-stop to four destinations in the United States, Garuda Indonesia and Vietnam Airlines have also shown interest in launching flights to the United States.

Although the Thai Airways national airline has expressed its desire to resume service in the US, it has struggled to overcome difficult market conditions over the years, which has generated significant financial losses. Meanwhile, Bangkok Airways continues to focus on expanding to secondary and secondary destinations in Southeast Asia. The rest of the transporters of Thailand fall into the category of low cost, budget. A \ W

The Republic of Venezuela clouse airspace

Venezuela has closed the airspace and the border with Brazil without a deadline. He arranged it to prevent the entry of humanitarian aid. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced yesterday the indefinite closure of the border with Brazil and warned that he evaluates doing the same with Colombia while the opposition leader and head of the National Assembly, Juan Guaidó, left for the border with the neighboring country to press for the entry of humanitarian aid. At the same time, Maduro denounced the «criminal blockade» of the United States against his country, and highlighted the support of Russia after sending 7.5 tons of medical supplies.

Maduro’s announcement was given 24 hours after the opposition began the process for the entry of international humanitarian aid, an initiative that the president has rejected on the grounds that it is a pretext for military intervention.

The block and aviation

At the same time, regulations of the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics that prohibits private flights in the country came into force, said Humberto Figuera, president of the Venezuelan Airline Association. Figuera said the measure does not affect commercial flights of local and international airlines. However, the measure affects the local and international transfer of passengers. The only international airline that spoke out was the French Air France, which reported that flights with passengers to and from Venezuela scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday and Monday are suspended.

No other company reported on the impact on users and how to solve the problem for those who have already contracted flights to Venezuela, and what other alternatives they offer in case of cancellation of operations. A \ W

Connect Airways adquiere Flybe

AW | 2019 02 22 13:00 | AIRLINES

Unidades negocios

The Connect Airways Consortium confirms acquisition of regional airline Flybe

The British regional airline Flybe has confirmed this Thursday, 21 February 2019 the sale of its operations to the consortium Connect Airways, led by Virgin Airways, a company that also includes Stobart Group and Cyrus Capital.

Connect Airways has made the transaction for a total value of £ 2.8 million for the assets and operations of Flybe. The regional airline based in Exeter went on sale in November 2018, after a profit warning from the previous month.

Virgin, Stobart Air and Cyrus Capital joined in December 2018 to establish Connect Airways. After the sale of the assets, Flybe Group will remain as a ghost company with cash. Shareholders will vote on this offer on March 4, 2019.

Lack of transparency

In January 2019, after the Connect Airways offer, Flybe took a guaranteed loan of £ 20 million from the consortium. Eric Kohn, an aviation entrepreneur, argued that the airline should have contacted alternative lenders for any financing shortfall before seeking a more favorable offer. The agreement seemed to have a «lack of transparency».

A rival bid for the airline was supported by Flybe’s second largest shareholder, Andrew Tinkler. Mesa Air, based in Arizona, proposed a capital injection of £ 65 million pounds (US$ 84,810,661.00/€ 74,780,633.00) at a price of approximately 4.5pa-share, significantly higher than the Connect Airways offer. Mr. Tinkler was dismissed as executive director of Stobart Group, one of the companies behind Connect Airways, in June 2018. The dismissal was confirmed as legal by a court ruling this month, following a disorderly legal battle between Mr. Tinkler and Stobart.

Failed strategy

Flybe had difficulties in 2017, after what was considered an aggressive expansion strategy. The company accumulated a loss of close to £ 20 million (US$ 26,095,588.00 / € 23,009,425.00) in the financial year that ended on March 31, 2017.

Business units

Under the terms of the agreement, Connect Airways will acquire the entire capital of Flybe, while Stobart will contribute to the aircraft leasing business. The combined group would operate independently for Virgin Atlantic under a single management team, owned 40% by Cyrus Capital Partners, 30% by Stobart Aviation, a subsidiary of Stobart Group and 30% by Virgin Atlantic, parent of Virgin airlines Atlantic Airways and Virgin Holidays. Flybe will continue to operate in the United Kingdom and Ireland and in due time will change its brand to Virgin Atlantic.

Resultado de imagen para Flybe new livery pngIn parallel, Cyrus, Stobart Group and Virgin Atlantic have also committed to provide up to £ 80 million sterling (€ 90 million) in additional funds to support their growth, as well as a contribution from Stobart Air, which has not been disclosed. , according to the business plans that are maintained regarding the initial offer. Virgin Atlantic is one of the companies with which the owners of Flybe were in talks for a formal sale, since it was put on sale last November 14, given that the airline owned by billionaire Richard Branson already had a code agreement shared with the British.

Flybe Plan Approval

The recommended cash offer by Connect Airways announced on January 11, 2019, according to which it is proposed that Connect Airways acquire all the equity of the airline Flybe issued and that will be issued by means of an agreement plan, remains conditioned to the approval of the plan by the shareholders of Flybe in the meeting of the court and the approval of the special resolution in the general meeting in relation to the program, satisfaction or waiver of the other conditions to the Plan and the approval of the Court. These meetings will take place on March 4, 2019.

As described in the Plan document dated February 7, 2019, if the Plan is approved, a request will be sent to the Financial Conduct Authority for the cancellation of the standard listing of Flybe’s shares in the Official List and the Stock Exchange Securities of London. A\W
