KLM y la aerolínea de Sint Maarten, Winair, han iniciado el proceso de expansión de su relación comercial en St. Maarten. La fecha límite para la implementación de un acuerdo de código compartido está prevista para 2017.

Winair actualmente disfruta de un acuerdo de interlínea con KLM, una de las aerolíneas más importantes del mundo. A través de la ampliación de este acuerdo a un acuerdo de código compartido ambas compañías operarán vuelos a través de las redes de rutas de cada uno.

«El servicio ofrecerá mayores beneficios a nuestros clientes mutuos, mejorando la conectividad, agregando destinos, precios y facilidad de viaje para los clientes que viajan hacia y desde el Caribe, Europa y más allá», declaró el Presidente y Director Ejecutivo de Winair, Michael Cleaver.

Un equipo de auditoría de KLM de cuatro personas visitó St. Maarten para realizar una auditoría de código compartido para asegurar que Winair cumpla con los requisitos de la Organización de Aviación Civil Internacional (OACI). El equipo fue bien recibido y encontró a Winair muy transparente durante la revisión.

Se invitaron a dos auditores senior del Departamento de Seguridad y Cumplimiento Integrados Corporativos al Departamento de Aviación Civil de St. Maarten para compartir ideas sobre regulaciones y autoridad en general, ya que el acuerdo de código compartido debe ser aprobado tanto por las autoridades de St. Maarten como de Holanda.

Según Winair, aún quedan cuestiones regulatorias adicionales. La aprobación de los Departamentos de Aviación Civil, las pruebas de tecnología de la información, las estructuras de tarifas y la implementación del acuerdo están en curso.

Winair and KLM airlines prepare for code sharing

“The service will offer greater benefits to our mutual customers, improving connectivity, adding destinations, pricing and ease of travel for customers traveling to and from the Caribbean, Europe and beyond,” stated Winair President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Cleaver.

A four-person KLM audit team visited St. Maarten to perform a code share audit to ensure Winair is in compliance with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) requirements. The team was welcomed and found Winair to be very transparent during the review.

Two Corporate Integrated Safety and Compliance Department senior auditors were invited to St. Maarten’s Civil Aviation Department to share thoughts on regulations and authority in general, as the code-share agreement must be approved by both the St. Maarten and Dutch authorities.

There remain additional regulatory issues, according to Winair. Approval from the Civil Aviation Departments, information technology testing, structures for fares and implementation of the agreement are ongoing.

“Once code-share is attained, this will greatly enhance the service each airline offers to our customers, including seamless travel, additional options in travel plans and will offer greater value to the companies’ mutual customers,” according to a statement from Winair on Sunday. A\W
