La división de servicios de Fokker modificará los sistemas de Vigilancia Dependiente Automática – Difusión (ADS-B out) a bordo de la flota de Air Island de los aviones Dash 8-Q200 y Q400.

Una vez actualizados, los sistemas permitirán a los aviones Bombardier emitir datos relevantes a las organizaciones de gestión del tráfico aéreo, incluyendo la identidad del avión, la localización GPS y la dirección del vuelo.

Fokker, una división de GKN Aerospace, añadió que los sistemas permitirán a Air Iceland optimizar el espacio aéreo, volar rutas más económicas y minimizar el uso de estaciones de radar terrestres.

Fokker, con sede en Holanda, ha hecho una obra de teatro para los operadores que buscan actualizar sus sistemas ADS-B, siguiendo un decreto de la FAA de 2010 ordenado sobre todos los aviones voladores que vuelan tanto en Europa como en Estados Unidos para el 1 de enero de 2020.

La modernización implica una mejora o reemplazo de dos sistemas principales de la carlinga: el transpondedor del ATC y el receptor del GPS. 

Fokker to Modify ADS-B Out Systems on Air Iceland Dash 8s

The services division of Fokker will modify the Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B out) systems on-board Air Iceland’s fleet of Dash 8-Q200 and Q400 aircraft.

Once updated, the systems will enable the Bombardier aircraft to emit relevant data to air traffic management organizations, including the jet’s identity, GPS location and direction of the flight.

Fokker, a division of GKN Aerospace, added that the systems will enable Air Iceland to optimize airspace, fly more economical routes and minimize the use of ground radar stations.

Netherlands-headquartered Fokker has made a play for operators looking to update their ADS-B systems, following a 2010 FAA ruling mandated on all flying aircraft flying in both Europe and the U.S. by January 1, 2020.

The retrofit involves an upgrade or replacement of two major cockpit systems: the ATC Transponder and GPS Receiver. A\W

La compañía aeroespacial estadounidense crea esencialmente un tercer pilar en su estructura corporativa, dedicado a los servicios globales y que pone al nivel de las divisiones de aviación comercial y de defensa y espacial. La multinacional aprovecha el cambio para colocar a Kevin McAllister como nuevo responsable de la unidad que fabrica los aviones de pasajeros B737, B747, B777 y B787.

La creación de esta nueva unidad se lleva preparando desde hace tiempo para así poder diversificar su negocio más allá de ensamblar aviones, cazas militares o cohetes. Los servicios y componentes generan, en principio, ingresos más estables porque no están sujetos a los altos y bajos en la producción.
